Hello, I'm Macaulay. I’m a filmmaker based in Burlington, Vermont and the owner of Wood & Ether. I’m a lover of indie-folk music, photo books, Charlie Kaufman movies, and short fiction. My journey with image-making began over a decade ago on analog film and while the majority of my work is shot digitally these days I still apply the same level of intentionality, treating each frame as precisely as one does a finite roll of Kodak Portra.

I believe in quality over quantity and the profundity of quiet moments.

A day doesn’t go by that I’m not awed by the world; that’s why I document. Time and light aligning just so to allow for a perfectly exposed frame seems impossibly beautiful. The same could be said of your love story. The decades over which your ancestors migrated, the decisions minute and colossal that led to not only your existence but to that moment in the laundry mat, on the train, in a college creative writing class, where you met your person are incalculable. Love is nothing short of a miracle and now that you have made the decision to get married I’d be honored to document your day.
