Larry Polston is the best decorator in town. He is truly a Godly man.

I hired Larry Polston (Weddings by Larry) to decorate my son and daughter-in-law’s barn wedding, and the experience was a nightmare from start to finish. He completely misrepresented what he promised, was unprofessional, and failed to deliver even close to what we paid for.

Larry agreed to provide real flowers in all visible arrangements and only use artificial ones for pieces hung high. He never created any high arrangements and the only place he used real flowers was in the bridal bouquet — nowhere else. Every table arrangement was filled with fake flowers, a few sprigs of baby’s breath, and fern clippings. That was not what was promised, nor what I paid for.

We paid $15,000 in cash, even though the original quote was $6,000. When the price went up to $12,000 due to the size of the barn, I agreed. Then he added another $3,000 for a “lighting package” that was supposed to include chandeliers and draped Christmas lights. What we got was a few strands of green-wired Christmas lights strung through a handful of pieces of white fabric. I ended up hiring my own electrician to hang the chandeliers we had purchased, since he never did.

Just two weeks before the wedding, Larry began yelling at me, demanding more money, and threatening to back out completely. His assistant had to step in and reassure me they’d still follow through. He insisted on full payment a week early to order flowers — which he never used.

He also misrepresented agreements about equipment. We allowed him to use our lulls and told him we’d provide a driver if he needed one. He later told others we had agreed to supply two lulls with drivers, which was completely untrue. He left the venue early every day and failed to communicate when his electrician would arrive.

When I asked about steaming the drapery walls, he said he would hang lace to cover wrinkles — but he never did. His excuse was that the barn was “too dirty,” despite having seen the space several times prior and praising the improvements, even texting “❤️👏👏👏👏👏👏 Love it!!!” after seeing the crushed asphalt floor we installed.

The day of the wedding, he was rude to multiple people, including my husband and niece (our wedding director), to the point my niece called her father, the county sheriff, to intervene. He showed up with stained curtains, incomplete décor, and a bad attitude.

Larry also blocked me from his Weddings by Larry Facebook page and removed me as a friend after the wedding — very telling behavior for someone who claims to be professional and faith-driven. He presented himself as a godly man, praying with us and speaking about the Lord, but his behavior and lack of integrity told a completely different story.

I have a signed contract, text messages, and video recordings of his promises and behavior. My attorney is preparing a breach of contract case if a refund is not issued immediately.

I later learned from my caterer that she had also met with Larry the year before for her daughter’s wedding and decided not to hire him after he kept trying to change her plans — a decision I now wish I had made.

Larry may appear kind and spiritual at first, but based on my experience, he is not trustworthy. He failed to deliver on nearly every promise, was disrespectful, and took advantage of our kindness and trust.

My advice: run, don’t walk, away from this vendor.
