Absolutely Amazing

They gave me shapewear and a corset bra to wear during the appointment to ensure I was looking my best in the dress. The assistant manager was my bridal consultant, and honestly I couldn't have been happier. She had great suggestions and advice. I cannot tell you how much I loved every bit of the experience. I went to other shops first and felt like I was in a factory just trying to turn out brides, but at uptown bride I felt special. They took the time to get to know me and what I liked. I can't recommend them highly enough.

I cannot speak highly enough of Karen (owner) and Maria, and my amazing experience at Uptown Bride! I went into the store today distraught from a horrible experience with an alternations woman in town, and Karen welcomed me in--without an appointment--and saved the day. Karen and Maria both are very knowledgeable, committed to helping you fulfill the vision you have of yourself on your wedding day, and the exact type of expert support you want when selecting this important outfit. Thanks to you both for everything!

Overall a good experience

I bought my dress at Uptown Bride.... I loved my dress - and I spent more than I wanted to but the reality is that good quality wedding dresses are simply expensive.

The employees of Uptown Bride are WONDERFUL. They're so cheerful and happy and willing to support. I loved the women I worked with.
The owner, however, was a bit grumpy and inflexible. She looked down on any idea of altering the dress (aside from the regular alterations), she seemed like a purist in terms of the dresses and lacked flexibility. I preferred her employees when interacting w/ the place.
I needed to get a swatch of my dress fabric through the dress maker and Uptown Bride worked with me on this. I was grateful to them for that.

I thought their alteration prices were too high so I went somewhere else to do it.
And, they have this strange rule where once the dress is bought, they do not help you put it in. It is a strange policy.

Poorly altered dress

I purchased my dress off the rack at Uptown Bride. The purchasing experience was fine-not luxurious but not bad. The problem came with the alterations from their in house seamstress. The dress was 3-4 sizes too big when I bought it but they assured me that it could be altered. I scheduled my appointment for measurements months in advance and for about 3 months before the wedding. They wouldn’t schedule my post-alteration fitting until 2 weeks before my wedding. When I arrived to try on the dress it was 1.5-2 inches too SMALL-it had been several inches too BIG-but she took it up way too much. On top of that, she took all the material out of the back instead of the sides which pulled the front of the dress around my sides. The boning from the bust was underneath my arms! The owner did offer to cover the cost of fixing the terrible alterations, so that was a positive. When I returned one week before my wedding for the supposedly fixed alterations, the dress was too big on top again. The seamstress tried sewing cups in the bust during our appointment to try to make it work, but the dress looked terrible. Unfortunately I had already spent almost $2000 on this dress and alterations so I was stuck with it. On the day of my wedding we did our best to hold the dress together with double-sided tape and whatever we could but it looked terrible. The alterations were lopsided and one part of the bust stuck out almost an inch at the top because it was so big. The dress had no shape and looked terrible. I’m starting to get my professional pictures back and any photo taken from the side shows the huge gapping at the top. I was extremely upset during pictures and the wedding ceremony itself because the dress looked so bad. On top of that, right before the ceremony, one of her poorly done seams popped and the dress almost fell down. Instead of walking down the aisle, my bridesmaids and I were hidden in a bathroom trying to tape the dress back together! It was truly awful. I have left negative reviews for this business and they just continue to argue with me. On the last one they left their phone number but they don’t call me back. And it’s not like they can redo my wedding day! My mistake was allowing them to delay my fitting until so close to the wedding date. On the second fitting when they tried to fix it, it was only a week before my wedding and I did not have time to drive back into Albuquerque repeatedly during that week for them to try to fix the gown. I should have demanded that they do a decent job at the time, and it is something that I will always regret because when I look at my pictures and that awful dress, it’s a day I can’t get back. Do not let them bully you into a poorly fitting, poorly altered dress!

Most Unprofessional Snooty Business

I have never reviewed a store badly before but this place was so horrible, I feel an obligation to warn people. If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I read some of the other reviews at 1 star and now see I was for sure not the first person they treated like this. They were so horrible to me that I cried for 30 minutes uncontrollably and my fiance had to console me. I was so tempted to suck it up because they had the perfect dress but I just didn't want that horrible experience and horrible people associated with my special day. I made the appointment online the day before and got an email confirming my appt. I told them I would be bringing someone. When I got there, we wanted to try on bridesmaid dresses and wedding dresses. They told us they couldn't accommodate that because someone had to answer the phones (not a single person called during our time there and the lady upfront sat there and did nothing the ENTIRE time). I explained we had limited time (not only that day but in general as the time to find a dress for me is running out) and we really needed to make the most of our time at each place and they still said no. We were understandably caught off guard and upset as this derailed our whole day. We decided to just look around since we were already there. I found the perfect dress but of course I wanted to look more and bring my mom before buying. When I made an appt to go back, the owner called me and instead of treating me like a customer and working with my needs and schedule or even asking why I was upset that day to see how she could improve their processes to avoid this in the future, she immediately spent 5 to 10 minutes accusing me and my guest of being the type of people she doesn't want in her store and that her employees determine how the appt goes and not us and that how her employees feel is what matters and not us. When in reality, it wasn't her employees fault or our fault but hers for not taking this opportunity to serve her employees and customers better by making sure each client knows the process for an appt beforehand. She also said it was my fault for not reading her site (which is a very extensive site) to know what the first appt would be like. I made three appts the night before at different places. I care for my grandparents in 24 hr shifts 3 times a week, work 12 hr days on week days, and work at least 5-8 hours on weekends. When I say I have limited time, I'm not exaggerating. When I made the appt, I just got off a 24 hr shift of watching my grandparents so I was extremely tired. So again I didn't have time to look through a site in depth to know the process and really shouldn't be expected to even if that wasn't my schedule. She could have easily said in her confirmation email the night before something like "be sure to read this link to understand our processes." However, instead of taking a look at how she runs her business to make sure she improves customer services and understands the background of her clients by asking me more about why I was upset, she immediately started the call and continued the whole call by blaming me, the client, and took ZERO responsibility for the situation. She didn't even try to understand why I was upset and simply said their process is their process and I needed to just comply so her employees would be happy. She said I could still come back if she decided I was worthy but that I would have to do what the stylist said. Again, I initially said yes because she was pretty much holding my dress hostage. However, after crying about it, I came to realize I want my special day to be perfect and I don't want a dress that will forever remind me of such awful people. There are way better wedding dress stores to go to. Try those other places first. If you have to go to this place, make sure you do what they say so you can get the dress you want and they don't take it from you if you don't do what they want.

Extremely unprofessional

I am not one to write reviews(this is literally my first I am that upset)...I went in today with my sister who had her 1 month old and the lady sent us away and told us to come back when we find a babysitter.
We're all about trust. Our community relies on honest reviews to help you make those big decisions with ease.
