We had our wedding at the Silver Spoon Barn in August 2018. The venue is beautiful, and I really loved it because it wasn’t as rustic as a lot of the other barn venues in the area. The gravel driveway is a little rough, but I only say that because we insisted on having our low sports car and motorcycle at the wedding. Kamber was friendly, but she’s super busy and it’s sometimes hard to get to the venue (for measurements, planning etc) outside of the average work hours. We tentatively planned our reception dinner the Friday before the wedding several months before the wedding and she told us that if there’s no event that we could do it, but if something came up, we’d have to choose another day. About 3 weeks before the wedding I told her the official time of our rehearsal dinner on Friday and she told me there was a wedding that had the venue for both Friday and Saturday. Okay, I understand that she already gave us a heads up that that could happen, but it would have been nice to know when they booked the Friday rather than 3 weeks before the wedding. We ended up having our dinner at our home, and had to do the rehearsal portion the morning of the wedding, as our wedding party had already made travel plans. A few days before the wedding, we had our rehearsal time and FH and I went just to test our dance and do some last-minute details. We mentioned that we were planning on having lawn games and she told us that we could do that but she’d really like to not have a ton of people on the fresh sod. We decided to move them inside in the ceremony space after, which turned out fine because it was super hot outside and it kept doors shut to keep the cool air in, although it did leave outdoor jenga inside, which got loud at times. Overall it was a good change of plans but it was stressful in the moment. Overall, the barn is beautiful, Kamber is good to work with, and the space provides lots of beautiful photo opportunities.

    The Silver Spoon Barn's reply:

Thank you Sage for the review. We are sorry that we caused you any undue stress. It is our policy, in order to guarantee the day before, we offer a 2 day rental option at a discounted price. With it being August, we were fully booked every weekend, which was expressed to you when you put your contract /deposit down. When we collect the final payment, 60 days before the event, we then offer the day before if it isn’t rented. In this case it was and we had to do the 2 hr free rehearsal during the week of.
We try to go above and beyond for all of our couples, some of the ways we felt we did this for you guys was by discounting your rental 10% for Geoff’s military service, as our “Thank You” to him. We also allowed you a 3 hour time slot to come do a photo shoot free of charge in addition to the free 2 hr rehearsal which allowed you final preparation time and time to get your dog, Scooter in to become familiar with the space and for you and Geoff to practice your 1st dance. As with all of our renters, we do a monthly View the Venue which is a 3 hr time slot one Sunday a month to come in and bring your friends and family and meet vendors and do planning, etc. As far as moving the yard games inside, we recommended that to every one booked between June thru September as we are in MO and the weather is crazy hot. If you go in and out, with all of the doors, its hard to keep it as cool inside as we prefer.
We appreciate you choosing to have your wedding at The Silver Spoon Barn and wish you a very happy marriage. Thank you again!
