Located in Acworth, Georgia, The Cowan Historic Mill is an elegant industrial-style wedding venue offering a gorgeous setting for couples to create an auspicious event they’ll remember for a lifetime. With areas to host both reception and outdoor ceremonies, every inch of this newly renovated building is tailored for custom wedding experiences. Located just a short walk from the historic delights of downtown Acworth, guests can indulge in a foodie paradise while enjoying all the visual thrills the property has to offer. Under the careful guidance of the Marcy family, to-be-weds are invited to celebrate the start of their new life with unbridled enthusiasm and outstanding services.
Facilities and Capacity
Built in the late 1870s, the Cowan Historic Mill is one of the community’s oldest commercial buildings. This historic landmark has been repurposed and enhanced with milestone celebrations in mind. Featuring a new two-story patio space with a multi-level fireplace, the sky is the limit when it comes to planning an iconic ceremony and wedding reception. The mill offers a wonderful combination of refined sensibility and gritty style with a beautiful three-tiered chandelier set against exposed beams and brick details. Inside and out, the venue can comfortably accommodate as many as 200 guests with options for a cocktail reception and a dancefloor on the downstairs patio. Beneath the chandelier, up to 100 guests can enjoy a signature drink at the custom bar or celebrate a toast to the happy couple. A large catering kitchen is available on-site as well as a host of table options, including Hi-boys for cocktail hour. To-be-weds will have exclusive use of the venue’s large Master Suite and Loft Lounge during setup hours.
Services Offered
The Cowan Historic Mill offers a choice of inclusive packages to enhance your unique wedding event. Ranging from 9-hour to 11-hour blocks, each rental comes with full set-up and break-down service as well as an hour of rehearsal time. Couples can avail of an experienced team dedicated to your day, including an on-site venue manager, professional chef, catering staff, and an event coordinator. Together, they will help you plan and execute a bespoke wedding experience to exceed all expectations. Under the expertise of boutique wedding planning company Kristina Eaton, Ltd, your every floral and decor need will be met. Full bar service is also available with options for à la Carte menus, a cash bar, and highly-skilled bartenders. From beautifully crafted cakes with hand-painted designs to private food tastings and premium menu options, each package contains a signature twist to bring your ideal wedding vision to life.

Amanda from Cowan Historic Mill was nothing short of incredible! From the moment we first visited the venue, I fell in love with its charm, but Amanda made the entire experience even more special. She was such a pleasure to work with, bringing warmth, professionalism, and a can-do attitude to every step of the planning process. Her attention to detail and dedication to making our day perfect made all the difference.
What truly set Amanda apart was how adaptable and calm she remained when our wedding day weather took a drastic turn—from a sunny day to a full-blown hurricane. While I was on the verge of stressing out, Amanda stayed completely positive and reassured me that everything would still be beautiful. Her confidence and expertise instantly put me at ease. She and her team seamlessly executed the transition from our ceremony to the reception in what felt like a matter of minutes. Watching them flip the room so efficiently, you’d never know they had to make adjustments on the fly due to the weather!
Even with the sudden changes, everything went off without a hitch, from the décor setup to flawlessly coordinating the food service. The entire team at Cowan Historic Mill, under Amanda’s guidance, handled every detail with grace and precision. Beautiful Wedding
My now husband and I got married yesterday at Cowan Mill and the event was beyond excellent. Sydney did an absolute amazing job coordinating our wedding and it was perfect. She was able to make sure everything was perfect and we nicknamed her "Hyper Sydney" because she was always on top of her game. The venue is a perfect location and we loved going on the Golf cart for photos. I definitely recommend Cowan Mill to anyone planning on getting married in the future.

Beyond beautiful!
The place is beyond beautiful and perfect!! We had our New Years Eve wedding here and it was everything we could have dreamed about. It’s rustic and the exposed brick is so pretty. The deck is AWESOME. Amanda was wonderful in the planning phases and really made it a breeze. Star was so sweet and really made our day go by smoothly. All the staff was awesome and did amazing. I love the bridal suite downstairs! It’s a perfect place to get ready in. Kevin initially showed us the venue on a walk through and we immediately fell in love. It’s perfect for more intimate weddings (we had about 60 guests). Taking the golf cart around to take wedding pictures was so much fun and a unique feature of this venue! The trains going by were awesome haha. Loved this venue beyond words and would definitely have other events here as well!

The Perfect Venue!
We fell in love with the Cowan because of the unique setting and the family and staff that runs the venue! Amanda and our day-of-coordinator, Lexie, were very accommodating to our needs and responsive anytime I contacted them. They really went above and beyond to make our wedding day special, from going out of their way to buy peach juice (for the getting-ready mimosa bar) and seltzers for the reception. Our guests commented to us several times that this was the most unique and beautiful venue that they have ever been to for a wedding, and we agree! We would recommend this venue again and again and are so happy that we were able to have our wedding here.

Gorgeous and affordable
This venue is perfect for a small or large wedding . The staff was very friendly and accommodating to the windy wedding day I had! Amanda showed us the ins and out of the venue and it was hard not fall in love! Amanda helped work out vendor options and gave recommendations to great drinks. My guest loved the his/her cocktails she suggested. My favorite part is the lovely view of downtown Acworth !

Night to remember
The Cowan Historic Mill allowed us (parents of the bride) to provide for our daughter and her groom the wedding of their dreams. From start to finish the planning was organized and professional. The entire space is presented in the most beautifully intimate way. The package options provided made for a more simple planning process than I expected. The vendors the venue has assembled are quality, seasoned event specialist. The venue staff are well trained for high end hospitality service and well trained to handle unexpected situations. The Cowan staff and vendors planned every detail, from parking to ‘crowd control.’ The entire evening was orchestrated so that every need was anticipated and met. Thank you, thank you, thank you for all the wonderful memories.

The Cowan Historic Mill: Look No Further
When we walked into The Cowan Historic Mill venue, we just knew that this was IT. The Cowan's magic came from both Amanda's wonderful spirit and the venue's stunning decor.
First, I will tell you about Amanda. We had visited other venues and had been greeted professionally. No complaints, really. But from the beginning, Amanda started asking questions about what we wanted, what we liked and didn’t like. She was deeply invested in discovering our vision and how she could make happen everything that we wanted. Her sincerity and kindness set her apart from everyone else. She was the consummate professional, and just an awesome person overall. After we booked the venue, she responded quickly to telephone calls and text messages and emails. She answered all questions with expertise and grace.
Now, let's talk about the venue. The Cowan Historic Mill is in the perfect location, with generous parking on the lot and across the street. The building retains its historic charm with its dark hardwood flooring, exposed brick walls, and high ceilings. The massive, gorgeous chandelier and the elegant furnishings make this place a showstopper. The building is expansive and able to accommodate guests and vendors without feeling cramped. There is also plenty of outdoor seating to help guests spread out even more if needed. The outdoor deck is large and beautiful and provided the perfect setting for our ceremony. And the area for the bridal party to get ready! Oh my goodness! It is impressive, to say the least. It is beautifully decorated with large mirrors and beautiful furnishings and accessories. There are a generous number of stations for the bridal party to do make-up and hair and get dressed.
I'm almost done, I promise.
Finally, I will tell you about the wedding day. EVERYTHING was amazing. Amanda and Allie took care of us, our guests, and the vendors. They were present throughout the day to ensure that things ran smoothly and on schedule. They interacted with our wedding guests and made everyone feel welcome. It was a perfect day.
My advice: Look here first and don't look anywhere else. Use the vendors on their preferred vendor list. They have assembled a select group of professionals to handle everything from catering to providing DJ services. Their preferred vendors meet and exceed their high standards.

Perfection
My husband Tanner and I had our wedding at the Cowan Historic Mill on 12.05.20 and we will never be able to say enough good things about our experience with this incredible venue. From the first time we visited, Amanda instilled in us the utmost confidence that she would be able to help us achieve our dream - even during the pandemic. We wanted to implement a lot of unique touches for our wedding to make it extremely personal and Amanda helped make every one happen. The venue offers a fantastic value for the size of the space and the versatility of the different areas at the venue. Cowan has excellent facilities to accommodate your catering, indoor and outdoor bar options, and the completely unique space in the interior of the mill. We had our ceremony and reception in the main room and it suited our smaller wedding size perfectly. We comfortably sat 60 guests as well as having a full band in the main room of the Mill. Cowan was absolutely perfect for us and we couldn't possibly recommend it any higher!
