We held our daughter's wedding reception at The Courtyard on Dauphin in 2024. We were promised a wedding coordinator (from the beginning); they did not provide one. Throughout the course of six-months of planning the reception, five coordinators left from employment at this event center. No one from The Courtyard ever contacted us to let us know; each individual coordinator who left called us to let us know she is no longer employed there. We had to constantly re-explain our plans, our layout, and our vendors to each "new" coordinator. The "final" coordinator assigned to us did not show up for a scheduled walk-through three days before our event; she had us meet with a maintenance man. The day of the event she (this "final" coordinator) did not show up again; a different maintenance man showed up late to unlock and open the doors for us and for our vendors. After our event, I emailed who I thought was "in-charge" of the event venue to let them know that I was not pleased with the customer service, communication, or hospitality throughout our six-month planning and received a very rude reply email from someone whom I had never heard of or met. To quote just one example of rudeness from the email, "You paid for the space, the tables, the linens, and the chairs. That is it. That is all." No apology for the high employment turnover, no-show of our point-of-contact person, lack of consistency and communication, etc.
The event space is beautiful; however, the management is rude, lacks customer service, does not communicate, and does not understand hospitality or the significance of a "big" life event. The beauty of the courtyard outdoor space does not outweigh the mismanagement. I would not recommend this event space.
