We had our reception at in the ballroom of the Old Capitol Inn. We had a VERY large reception (400 seated). We chose a buffet dinner and our guests had PLENTY of space to move around.
Bruce Cain and his staff were VERY attentive and accommodating to our reception needs. We were able to have our table and chair linens shipped there and kept in a secure area. Though the OCI had 2 large events the day before, the ballroom was ready at 7am the day of our wedding for set up. It was clean and set up just the way we had discussed before (layout for tables, chairs, etc.).
We went through a few changes along the way (numbers, menu, layouts, etc.) and Bruce and his staff accommodated us the entire way. No complaints and what we thought couldn't happen, they made sure that it could be done.
The food was OUTSTANDING! We are still receiving comments on the pasta dish, catfish and a few other items. Though it was 93 degrees the day of our wedding, the ballroom was chilly (in a comfortable way. There were some that thought it was too chilly, but we had to have the room cold so that the cakes wouldn't slide/come apart.
Our guests were also able to stay at the OCI and they RAVED about the rooms (size, quality, etc.). The only downside was that some reservations were switched (rooms) or cancelled and the place got over booked for Saturday night. Some of my guests had to be moved to other hotels, but, overall, I think it was a pleasant experience for the guests. The OCI staff found rooms for the other guests at a nearby hotel. I wasn't too happy that some of my guests were not given the room they requested, but overall, it was okay.
