This is the PERFECT venue for a wedding! Driving up to the mansion is just breathtaking. My daughter and her now husband fish on Lay Lake and have looked at this house for years. The island itself is 6 acres, with a charming boat house with dock on one side. There is an additional dock on the other side of the island. The mansion itself has a beautiful wrap around porch on the second level. It has a salt water pool (that you can use!) and a wonderful pool deck big enough for tables and a dance floor!
(The working horse stables you drive past are not part of the venue)

The inside of the mansion is just incredible! They have recently replaced all the flooring with beautiful hardwood flooring with decorative inlays. The main room is large enough to put 6 round tables and 8 chairs each comfortably. At the opposite end of the room are these beautiful double winding stair cases. Immediately, you begin to think of decorations, photos, etc using these stairs with the beautiful bannisters.

There are 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. 2 of the upstairs bedrooms have 2 twin beds in them. 2 of the bedrooms on the upper floor (right side) share a huge bathroom, with a large garden tub, separate shower. The downstairs bedroom shares a huge bathroom with what we called the library, again with a large garden tub and a shower . The ONLY downside to the bathrooms is there are NO outlets in them. Bring extension cords if you want to do your hair in there.
Every bedroom has at least 4 doors that open up to the outside. Upstairs, they open up to the wrap around porch. You are surrounded by water. Sunrise and sunset is SPECTACULAR there. There is a beautiful fountain on what I call the side of the house, but it is the side you see as you enter the property. Many weddings are held here, but my daughter opted to get married down by the lake in front of the arbor, which was STUNNING!

My daughter got married here October 30th, 2021. We rented the place for Friday and Saturday night. It's not much more, and that way, you are guaranteed to be able to use the facility for rehearsal and dinner. We turned the rehearsal into a costume party.

There is an onsite event manager there, Elizabeth, when you have your event, but she is out of sight. There is an apartment (under the pool) that she stays in, but is there is you need anything. She had 2 young men working with her and they set up all our chairs, set up the tables prior to the wedding. After the wedding, when we were cleaning up, they broke down the tables and chairs and moved them out for us. So nice and polite! And hard workers!

The selling point for me when we toured the place, was dealing with the property manager, Cody Webb. He is so easy to work with, so helpful, very patient with all the questions. Even answers questions that you don't know to ask. If I had gotten a bad vibe from him, or any type of attitude, I wouldn't have even considered using this venue. He was my selling point, along with the beauty of the place.

You will not be disappointed if you use this venue.

Mere words scarcely describe the beauty of getting married at Oak Island Mansion. Without doubt, choosing the perfect venue is the starting point for any bride and groom. My husband and I ran across Oak Island by happenstance, but I am so happy we did. The drive down the road and across the bridge quite literally takes your breath away for its sheer beauty. It definitely doesn’t stop there… multiple spots to choose for the ceremony and reception, a pool, a Roman pavilion, spot for a bonfire, boathouse, dock, and lest one forgets … the mansion which is amazing. We were set on having a barn wedding and were dismayed at all the restrictions and the price at each one we visited. When we got to Oak Island and took a tour, we were amazed at the elongated hours we were able to rent the venue and the ability to make most of our own arrangements instead of being so tied down and limited with our options as well as extremely competitive pricing at the island. We were able to save thousands of dollars by simply having the ability to hire our own bartender and caterer and not be limited to pre-set lists from another venue and that is just a couple of the ways we were able to cut costs. Those savings allowed us to spend money other ways and we truly had the fairy tale wedding that all little girls only dream of. The staff at Oak Island was amazing, helpful, and surpassed all expectations. The only cloud on our wedding day was filled with rain and the staff at Oak Island were all over everything when plans had to be changed last minute due to the weather. We had to bring everything inside the mansion due to rain and the staff onsite quite literally flipped the ballroom from ceremony to reception (tables, centerpieces, and place settings) in under five minutes. I cannot speak volumes enough on what an amazingly beautiful wedding day we experienced and the service with which Oak Island provided.

My husband and I had our wedding at Oak Island on 5/22/21 and it was absolutely perfect. The owners and staff were wonderful and so helpful and Cody was the best during the whole process!! We had the mansion for the whole weekend with our wedding party and it was absolutely stunning!!!! Michael and Renee Parrish

Everything about our experience was amazing. We had our wedding here on April 10th and it was everything I ever wanted. Cody, Elizabeth, and the whole Oak Island Team were amazing! It is a great venue for anyone looking to get married on the lake. It is truly a venue only so you're able to choose all your own vendors rather than having to use the provided vendors as it is with some venues. We had our rehearsal dinner at the mansion Friday night and the entire wedding party was able to stay both Friday and Saturday which made thing so easy! I would absolutely, 100% recommend this venue for any wedding or event!

Ah where to start with the Oak Island experience? Just book them already! We just had our wedding last Sunday and wish we could go back! Yolanda is the most gracious of hosts and Candace is a heck of a wedding planner. My husband and I live in San Diego (I'm from the Birmingham area) and we initially thought we would have a wedding in San Diego. However, for the same price and a lot less coordination and stress on my part, Oak Island offered a package deal including bartender, DJ, flowers, catering, cakes, security etc.! We also considered the Sterling Castle nearby (also offers package deals) but I knew after talking to Yolanda and seeing Oak Island that we had to have it on their beautiful lake property.

We chose the fountain as our ceremony location and the patio out by the pool as our reception location (complete with cafe lights!). Terri, the day-of coordinator was so patient and fun to work with. She wrangled our easily distracted wedding party like a pro and got us through the rehearsal with no problem. As the bride, one of the things I'm most grateful for was that on the wedding day, I never had to stress about a single thing, never had to check the time and wonder if everything was going ok, AND I got to eat all the delicious food and cake!! If anything went wrong, I definitely didn't know about it.

As for the reception, it could not have been more perfect. Most of our guests were from out of town and the majority of them had never stepped foot below the Mason-Dixon line. They were BLOWN AWAY by the beauty of Oak Island complete with a gorgeous multi-colored sunset over the lake during the reception. Also, DJ Ray Ray Tennyson knows how to put on a dance party and we had several guests tell us that it was the most fun wedding they had ever been to. Thanks Yolanda, Candace, Ray, and the many behind the scenes staff that helped make our wedding day perfect and unforgettable. Thank you for the surprise at the end of the reception. We're so grateful!

My Husband and I got married at this place just two days ago but I feel like I’m already late to tell everyone about our wonderful experience. This place is sublime and absolutely gorgeous. I’m from New York and I truly found the southern hospitality here. Yolanda is the most wonderful person. She is not just a venue director. She takes it personally to make sure you have all the details to perfection. She will work with you as long as needed until you have all the specifics planned to excellence. She is extremely kind and welcoming and we soon realized she was as concerned about the perfection of our big day as ourselves. The venue is flawless. Perhaps it is fair to say that the pictures can’t describe all the beauty that is entailed in this place and you have to experience it by yourself. We had a great deal of details based on our culture that were not part of her routine but she absolutely and comprehensively took care of all of them. Most of our guests were from out state and the amazing venue, professional and polite staff and level of meticulousness overwhelmed them all. On our big day Terri was an absolute caretaker. She had a thorough game plan and played it to perfection. She amazed me by her kindness and calm even in the face of unexpected events. I can’t tell you enough how amazing everything about this place is and as a bride to be, you can have peace of mind that all your dreams will be coming true at this astonishing place. I absolutely, firmly, highly and unequivocally recommend this place to any couple who want to make a memory that even their grand-children will be amazed by. Lots of heart felt love to Yolanda, Terri, the florist (Demaris), our officiant (Jeremy), Candace (wedding planner), our chef (Chef Troy), DJ (Russ), (indulge sweet shop who made our cake) for their kindness, professionalism, detail-orientation, fantastic performance and also want to thank them all for creating the most wonderful experience of our lives.

We also had several unexpected incidents but the meticulous handling of Yolanda and Terri ensured our event was not interrupted by any means. LOVED this venue! It was stunningly beautiful and had great staff! Yolanda and Candace were great to work with. They made the planning process a breeze! Basically one meeting and the wedding was all planned out. Terri, our wedding director, was great! She made the wedding day so peaceful and stress-free. The only stress I had was my own fault and that was the weather. Everyone at the wedding was complimenting me and my family on finding such a BEAUTIFUL venue.
