Midnight Imagery

Missy is so helpful and willing to work with you on your vision, she took away so much stress from my wedding day. I would definitely recommend!

We booked Midnight Imagery and her package included engagement photos, a private bridal session, a boudoir session, and 8 hours of wedding coverage. Although the contract required a 30% deposit (around $900), we expressed that we were uncomfortable paying that much upfront, and she agreed to accept a $500 deposit instead.
Our engagement session went well, and at the end of the shoot, the photographer even told us that the complimentary boudoir session could also include my husband. A few weeks later, she sent us our engagement gallery. Within 24 hours, we asked if we could see a few of the photos she had edited into black and white, in their original color. We weren't asking for additional editing—just the already-selected photos in color.
Days passed, then weeks. We followed up multiple times and were repeatedly told, "Oh, I forgot. I'll get right on that." After almost 9 months of reminders, I finally called because her lack of communication had us questioning whether we could trust her to photograph our wedding. Only then did she tell us she no longer had the original files, therefore she no longer has the ones we asked about in color. She also informed us that including my husband in the boudoir session—something she had previously offered for free—would now cost an additional $425.
At that point, we no longer felt comfortable trusting her with one of the biggest days of our lives, so we decided to cancel. Since her standalone engagement sessions are priced at $375, we requested a partial refund of $125 from our $500 deposit. Her response was essentially that she completely understands our frustrations, and that she sincerely apologizes and won’t make any excuses, but that she also won’t refund us.
She then immediately tried to make excuses saying that even if she had responded months earlier, the outcome would have been the same because she deletes the raw files after editing. Well if that's the case why didn't she simply tell us that the first time we asked, instead of stringing us along for nine months?? Oh yea… because it's a lie.
Our biggest issue wasn't that she edited all of the best photos into black and white (which now that I think about it $3200 is an outrageous price to get 50% of your edits in B&W)—it was the complete lack of communication, professionalism, and accountability. We spent months chasing simple answers and were consistently met with forgotten promises and delayed responses. When concerns were finally addressed, the information we had been given had changed, with no responsibility taken and a sprinkle of “I’m also going to charge you extra for this for no reason even though I agreed he could join for free”.
Based on our experience, communication is abysmal, customer care is virtually nonexistent, and the professionalism and ethics we expected from someone handling such an important life event simply were not there. I would never recommend Midnight Imagery to anyone looking to hire a photographer in general, ESPECIALLY their wedding. Can you imagine if we would have paid the full 30%? She’s practically a scam artist.
