About

On WeddingWire since 2016

Situated in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee, the Metal Museum is a scenic wedding venue. Nestled on the Mississippi River, this venue invites you to celebrate in its atmosphere of intimacy. It sits just south of Memphis’ downtown area and so maintains a sense of vibrancy alongside its position surrounded by nature. The grounds are dotted with century-old trees for an elegant backdrop to your wedding. This venue offers numerous outdoor sites for ceremonies and receptions, alongside pre-wedding gatherings like engagement parties and rehearsal dinners. It also welcomes elopements, for more intimate gatherings.

Facilities and Capacity

The Metal Museum offers a unique space in its gazebo, which is constructed of historic casings. It can be used as a ceremony site or a focal point throughout your day. The river bluff terrace can be tented for shelter from the weather, and it can comfortably accommodate up to 300 guests. In the past, couples have carefully planned their ceremonies to take place as the sun sets over the Mississippi River for an unforgettable celebration of your love. For larger celebrations, all of the grounds are available for you to reserve for your wedding day. These can then be tented and can fit up to 800 people. Some of this space can also be used as a dance floor, so you can dance the night away. Parking is available for your guests’ convenience.

Services Offered

Rental rates for the Metal Museum include the attendance of a staff member to ensure your use of the property runs smoothly. Across its numerous acres, the grounds contain a sculpture garden which you are welcome to browse and use for wedding photos. Should you wish, you can arrange for bar service to attend your reception, perfect for if you are hoping for a sophisticated cocktail hour. The team welcomes you to choose your vendors from their list of trusted businesses to complement your vision for the day.

Location

The museum is conveniently located in the city of Memphis. A selection of hotels is close at hand, for those who need somewhere to stay. Chickasaw Heritage Park is within walking distance of the museum if you or your loved ones are hoping to explore the area. World Class Venue and Staff

From the start, the staff at the Metal Museum were out of this world. We had a lot of hurdles as we had our wedding during the pandemic, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. The staff helped us not only plan our wedding layout, but helped us get everything approved by the health department, worked with us on several fronts to keep people safe, and provided non-stop service during the day. The venue itself speaks for itself. It's easily one of best (if not the best) venues in Memphis. The lighting was excellent, the party afterwards was amazing, and there's so much space to accommodate a large or small group. It was the night of our lives, and we can't thank the Metal Museum enough. If you work with Madison, you're working with THE BEST!

Sunset Wedding on the Bluff

When my daughter got engaged and we were talking about venues, her fiancé said he'd like to get married outside by water and she and I exchanged glances. We knew the Metal Museum would be the perfect spot. We live in Nashville now but she grew up in Memphis and we'd often go 'cardboard sledding' on the Indian mound across the museum. We've always admired the views from that particular bluff and the Mississippi River is so special to us. The old buildings on the museum grounds and the majestic oak tree on the lawn suggested the perfect spot for a wedding. She chose just before sunset so that guests could enjoy the views after the ceremony. Her friends from Nashville were excited to be by the river and I noticed many of the guests were taking advantage of the photo ops at the gazebo or with the historic bridges in the background.
As far as value goes, we chose the Metal Museum for the reasons I just mentioned but as we got into the process, we realized what a value the venue is too. I'd recommend the Metal Museum as the perfect place for any sort of celebration but you can't beat the romance of the river, the old trees, and the perfect sunset for a wedding. Our guests still talk about the perfect party that took place that night.

Fantastic spot! No decor needed, the scenery speaks for itself.

We planned a daytime ceremony at the Metal Museum (an affordable $600 for 3 hours). As per the venue, we had to wait until 3 months out to book. We reached out almost a year in advance. Very nice people--we toured the place, fell in love, and they placed us on their calendar to hold our spot. The communication along the way was very open and clear. While it was nerve-wracking to wait until 3 months out, it was WELL worth the wait. We got married in the gazebo overlooking the river--no decor needed. We showed up the day of the wedding dressed to the nines with fresh flowers--that was all we needed to make the photos breathtaking. The river in the background made the day incredibly special. The staff made themselves known and available, but trusted us to let us be. It was a small, happily tearful, intimate ceremony--and since that day, people have told me it was "the best wedding they have ever been to." I also received some comments: "how did you find this place?" and "I want to have my vows renewed here!" I honestly couldn't imagine the day going any better. I highly recommend this location.
