Think Twice
Ours is a cautionary tale. I am not typically the type of person to write a negative review, but weddings are one of those events in life that only have one chance to go right, and our experience was absolutely terrible so if I can help other couples by sharing our experience, I feel that I should.
My husband went to Men's Wearhouse in Houston, TX to help coordinate suits for him and his groomsmen.
He had a decent experience in picking out the suit and at first it seemed like the perfect company to help ensure his suit and all his groomsmen's suits were the same. They gave us the ability to have all the suits shipped to a certain location, which was helpful for our destination wedding. Plus, we thought it would be helpful to have a large national company because some of the groomsmen were not from the same area as us.
Fast forward to our wedding weekend. We had my father pick up the suits from the Men's Wearhouse in Ammon, Idaho. The manager ensured that he had put every piece together himself. We took that at face value and when he brought the suits to our venue, we stored them away. We thought it was an item checked off the to-do list.
Here is where it gets bad. The day of the wedding, the best man opened his suit to find that his tie was not only a clip-on, but it was also ivory (it was supposed to be orange--fall wedding, our pocket square was orange.... you get the idea). Furthermore, his button-down shirt was the size a ten-year-old would wear.
The pocket square was four different colors (it looked like it belonged in a circus show) and had to be folded a certain way to have the correct color showing. That probably would have been fine if the person in the store where this was coordinated would have warned my husband and shown him how to fold it.
The other groomsmen and my husband anxiously ran to look at their suits and found that all their ties were the wrong color as well. My husband was extremely upset because he really had obviously wanted the specific suit and tie colors he had chosen. Our poor groomsmen ended up driving around all morning trying to find somewhere to buy new ties and a larger shirt for our best man. Our wedding was a destination wedding in the mountains and there weren't very many stores around and the closest Men's Wearhouse was 1.5 hours away. Luckily, a larger shirt was found but we had to forgo the hideous ties.
I don't understand how so many things went wrong and luckily everything else for our wedding day went well and I'm sure we'll look back at this in the future and laugh. Maybe we should have looked at the suits sooner but when you trust a company with something as big as your wedding day, I guess you tend to believe they'll get it right. Also, what was the manager thinking when he put that tiny shirt in with all those other average sized suit pieces? And wouldn't you think to check back if a clip-on ivory tie was delivered with white shirts, navy suits, and an orange pocket square?
