Melanie was amazing to work with, she helped us plan out/get all the shots we wanted with our budget and limited time and was so flexible and super kind to our family members during photos (it was a very windy day, so people were chilly and our flower girl was not happy about it lol). She got our photos back to us super quick and they are so beautifully edited! Melanie is a STAR and I would recommend her for anyone looking for a wedding photographer!

We loved having Melanie take photos for our wedding! She captured so many beautiful shots of our guests at the ceremony and at the reception, which is so great because we didn't get to see everyone's face at those times. Melanie also kept the portrait session low-key, just like we asked. And we got great shots of the two of us! Every photo from the wedding is so great that it has been hard to pick just a few to print out and save!

Melanie West did an amazing job photographing our wedding. She captured lots of great moments with pictures that were bright, colorful, and sharp. We hired her for 6 hours which included a little time before the wedding, the wedding itself, and most of the reception. Our wedding and reception were inside LaFonda on the Plaza in Santa Fe. Immediately after the wedding she took photos of us with our families and the wedding party inside the hotel and during the spare 20 minutes we had before the reception started Melanie took us outside for pictures. She knew some great places where we could stand with beautiful backgrounds. One of my favorite pictures from the whole day was taken outside the hotel around the corner. One of my other favorite pictures was a picture of my wife and I walking up the aisle seconds after being declared husband and wife. We both had big smiles and looked at Melanie at the same time and she captured the moment perfectly. That moment when we approached her while walking and smiling and looking straight at her only existed for a second or two and she nailed it. Melanie stayed a little longer than her contracted time and had started to leave. I was standing next to my paraplegic friend in his wheelchair and some of my other friends and Melanie graciously unpacked her camera , waited for us to pose, and took one last picture of the group of guys. It turned out to be another one of my favorites.

After viewing many photographers' work, I was drawn to Melanie's because of the distinctive style she gave each couples' photos. We didn't have a cookie-cutter wedding and we didn't want cookie-cutter photos. We wanted our unique experience to show through. Melanie understood that and also added some great suggestions. She listened to what we wanted, used that as a starting point and added her expertise to really make our photos ones that we're proud of! We also appreciated her artistic flair, and the fact that she grew up in Santa Fe came in handy when part of our request was to do some scenic shots in the area. Her calm and kind demeanor made our photo session fun and relaxing, and I have had so many compliments on the quality of our photos! I would recommend Melanie to anyone who needs professional photos taken.

She captured our wedding perfectly and put both us and our guests at ease during the entire photo session. We absolutely love our photos and our friends and family do, too. I can't say enough positive things about Melanie! We don't live in Santa Fe so our initial contact with her was based solely from reviews and recommendations. Over the phone she understood exactly what we wished for in our photos and also gave some great advice that we used and were so happy with the results! She was also very accommodating on our date, time and location of our ceremony. She arrived on time and got to know my groom and I before the ceremony which I think was important because she really captured us and our story quite well. She also worked well with our officiant and I think that helped a lot too. Melanie was very relaxed and I felt very comfortable with her and she offered great suggestions. My husband also felt comfortable with her which helped him relax and she was able to capture some great shots of him ( because its not all about the bride- ha ha). Honestly I loved her so much I feel like we will continue to be friends and we look forward to seeing her when we travel back to Santa Fe. The end result of all of the above was some great, quality photos that we will cherish for a lifetime.

We were planning our Santa Fe wedding from out of state and checked out Melanie's work on her website and were amazed at the uniqueness and artistry. However, talking with her absolutely sealed our choice. We had a very private wedding with six family members in attendance. Melanie was both professional and, at the same time, made us so comfortable she was part of our small group. Everyone felt we had the perfect photographer even before we got our photos. We plan on contacting her on return trips to Santa Fe and could not recommend her more highly.
