From our engagement session, to communication, to offering her help on the day of itinerary, to the day-of-organization—Matlyn made our wedding day feel like a breeze!! First, I’d like to say that we had such a fun time with Matlyn at our engagement session! I loved that she asked us personal questions about our relationship and she has us answer what we loved most about each other. It added to the thrill leading up to our big day and I really appreciated it! The engagement photos turned out amazing! As for our wedding day, everyone loved how organized she was, especially when it came to capturing all of our important must-have family photos. For reference, my husband and I come from large Mexican and Filipino families…we completed our post wedding family photos within 30 MINUTES!! It was amazing. And don’t get me started on the quality of our photos. Everyone was in awe at how beautiful the pictures came out. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Not to mention how fun and personable she was to not only us but every guest (including the younger kids) in attendance.

If you’re looking for a photographer who will not only capture the most important moments of your life but make you feel completely comfortable while doing it, look no further!

Matlyn first photographed my surprise engagement, and I knew from that moment that I absolutely had to have her photograph my wedding. I was running on pure adrenaline, trying to process one of the biggest surprises of my life, and she somehow managed to capture all the magic of that moment while making me feel so comfortable and at ease. She never made anything feel staged or forced. She allowed the moment to unfold naturally, and that is such a special quality to have in a photographer.

Fast-forward to my wedding day, and choosing her again was one of the best decisions I made. I don't regret it for a second!

Something I really want to emphasize about Matlyn is how genuinely wonderful she is as a person. One thing I learned throughout wedding planning is how transactional the wedding industry can sometimes feel. You mention the word "wedding," and suddenly everything becomes about packages, pricing, timelines, and what you're paying for. Matlyn was never that way. From the very beginning, she made me feel like she was genuinely excited for us and invested in these moments of our lives. I never felt like just another client or another wedding on her calendar. She made the entire experience feel personal, and that means more than I can explain.

There is something so incredibly comforting about being around her. She has this calm, relaxed, genuine energy that makes you feel like you're spending time with a friend rather than someone you've hired. And on a wedding day, when there are a million things happening at once, that is EVERYTHING.

What I especially appreciate is how effortlessly she takes charge without ever making you feel like you're being directed around. She knows exactly how to organize people, find the right shot, and keep everything moving, but does it with such ease and kindness that nothing feels rushed, awkward, or forced. She has this amazing ability to be in control without being controlling, which I think is such an underrated quality in a wedding photographer. You get to actually enjoy your day while trusting that she's capturing it all.

And I cannot emphasize enough how important it is to genuinely LIKE your wedding photographer as a person! This is someone who will be beside you during some of the most intimate, emotional, and exciting moments of your life. Matlyn's presence only added to the joy of my day, never the stress. She was someone I was genuinely happy to have there.

My biggest recommendation? If you book her for your engagement photos, PLEASE book her for your wedding too. And if she's your wedding photographer, don't let that be the last time you work with her! Have her photograph your family portraits, your milestones, and all the beautiful chapters that come afterward.

Matlyn isn't just someone you hire for one special occasion. She's the kind of photographer you want to keep in your life as your story continues. And in an industry where so much can feel like a business transaction, finding someone who makes it feel like a genuine human connection is something really special. I cannot recommend her enough!

We enjoyed Matlyn May Photography immensely. She met with us before the wedding and got to know us as a couple, was very professional, took great shots and really enjoyed herself at our events as well. We did a large four day wedding and she did a great job of capturing all of it. She made us feel so comfortable taking photos and even got us to laugh several times to capture some really great photos! 5/5, highly recommended! We couldn’t have been happier with Matlyn. She did an amazing job making us feel comfortable and at ease the whole day. She was very communicative and even took us to dinner a few months before just to meet us and get a sense of our personalities. She asked what we wanted from our photos and she delivered! She also provided us with sneak peaks the day after, which was so exciting! The rest of the photos followed about 5 weeks later, which aligned perfectly with what was promised. Seriously 10/10.
