As a control freak with a big vision and a film degree, I can say without hesitation that Javier is a miraculous dream come true. From the very beginning, he responded almost instantly, every single time. Not with copy-and-paste answers, but with real care and the kind of clarity that makes planning a surprise proposal from out of state feel possible. I was searching for someone local who had experience shooting surprise proposals and who understood how to beautifully capture African American subjects, especially in softer lighting. His portfolio proved all of that and more.

When I first messaged him, I shared the entire vision: the timing, the surprise element, how I wanted the emotions to unfold naturally, the details about my fiancée’s parents arriving separately as part of the surprise, how important it was for him to be close enough to catch every expression but invisible enough not to spoil the moment, and my own anxiety about getting everything right while flying in from Georgia. He listened, he asked smart questions, and he gave thoughtful input. It honestly felt like he cared about the success of the moment just as much as I did.

One of the most important parts of our planning was when he suggested adjusting the reservation time. I hadn’t realized how quickly the light fades this season in Puerto Rico, and his suggestion is the reason the proposal happened in the perfect lighting window. That alone shows the level of experience and intention he brings.

During the proposal, he was everywhere and nowhere at the same time. Neither my fiancée nor I realized he was literally right behind us as everything unfolded. He captured the emotion so purely that looking at the photos feels like reliving the moment frame by frame. The joy, the shock, the tears, the way each person reacted—nothing was missed. Javier was on time, professional and helped us feel comfortable in front of the camera. My husband is not picture taker, but Javier was able to make him more comfortable and give us lots of suggestions for getting great shots of the two of us. We had a small intimate destination wedding and Javier was able to capture all our little moments perfectly. He was super responsive and quick to communicate with all the way from Minnesota which really helped when you are planning from so far away. Everyone commented on how stunning our photos were, and I could not have asked for better results from our special day. If you’re an awkward couple with 0 idea on how to pose, Javier made it incredibly comfortable and easy for us. He was punctual, professional and incredibly trustworthy from the start. From our first conversation, he quickly communicated back to us and it was a no brainer that we needed him. His art was astonishing and was better than I could’ve asked for. If you have kiddos, he has a very kind and warm heart that will make it easy for kids to take photos. His eye on detail from fixing my hair, making sure the sweat isn’t showing LOL to make sure I got the pictures we wanted even if we went In The ocean to capture them.
