Historic Rucker Place, a historic wedding venue located in Birmingham, Alabama, is hundred year old mansion that highlights unique architectural designs, giving it an elegant and sophisticated ambiance. Its multiple event spaces can cater to many events such as wedding ceremonies, receptions, rehearsal dinners, corporate events and more. It also provides in-house catering, alcohol, and a florist.

Facilities and Capacity
Historic Rucker Place can host up to 300 guests. Its spacious living room, with high ceilings and glass windows, will surely captivate you and your guests. Also, its Wisteria Room, an ancient and elegant house with wood floorings and railings, serves as a great space for wedding buffet.

Savoie Catering is the partner and exclusive caterer of Historic Rucker Place. They provide custom-designed menus to accommodate the couple's needs and tastes. Additionally, they can provide various serving styles such as buffet, stations, plated, and more.

History
Historic Rucker Place was built in 1900 by a civil war veteran. For the first half of the 20th century, the historic house served as a family home of General Edmund Winchester Rucker. Jack and Gail purchased the house in the fall of 2002 and completely renovated it to serve as a premier event space. Historic Rucker Place debuted in the spring of 2003, and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places today.

Best wedding ever!!

We held our wedding reception at Rucker Place and it was the best decision we made for all of our planning! When you book with Rucker, you get Paula, the event coordinator, who is AMAZING and makes planning so easy, Savoie Catering, which serves delicious food, and LSL Event Design (florals/decorations), who made everything look like a dream. Basically, when we signed our contract, we were already 60% complete with planning. Not only do you have phenomenal vendors to work with, renting this venue includes all tables, chairs, and linens. We were not nickel and dimed at all.

Rucker is gorgeous on it's own and has the Birmingham skyline as the backdrop. My husband and I were so thrilled with how everything turned out. You will not be disappointed!!

Lovely, Lovely, Lovely evening at Rucker Place

This lovely mansion nestled on a street near downtown (with plenty of parking for guests) was the picturesque setting for a wonderful rehearsal dinner. Gail, the owner, and Paula, the event planner, were so helpful during all of the planning and the actual event. The vendors they work with at Rucker Place are top notch (Kellie at Savoie Catering and Laure at LSL Event Design).
Our guests thanked us over and over for the experience! We recommend Rucker Place for any event but especially weddings!

Historic Rucker Place is the perfect venue!

You will love everything about Historic Rucker Place!! We had a beautiful Rehearsal Dinner there and everything was perfect! We had appetizers in the garden with the beautiful twinkling lights and dinner upstairs with a city view. The food was delicious - from appetizers to dessert! Paula at Rucker was so easy to work with ...the servers for dinner was very accommodating. I would recommend to anyone!

Perfect Day

Paula and the entire team at Rucker Place made my entire day run so smoothly. I could not have asked for anything better! The venue offers so much to assist with planning. I highly recommend!!

We could not have been more thrilled with how our reception at Rucker Place went! Paula was an angel during the months (and months) of planning. She even stepped in to help me when another vendor was giving me major issues! Paula and everyone at Rucker make you feel so special, even before your big day! If there were any issues that cane up or anything that didn’t go according to plan, I sure didn’t learn about it- which is exactly how it should be!! I loved that choosing Rucker Place meant my florist and caterer were chosen for me- fewer decisions for a bride to make is always a win in my book! LSL Event Design did a phenomenal job (Laure is the BEST!) and Savoie’s Catering was on my top caterer’s list before I got married (and we are still hearing about how delicious the food was!). My sister-in-law said that if she was from Birmingham and had a Birmingham wedding, she would have chosen Rucker Place. The charm cannot be beat! THANK YOU FOR MAKING OUR SPECIAL DAY THE BEST ONE!!

When we were looking for our venue, we knew we wanted somewhere with an outdoor element, southern charm, and a space where guests could move around and mingle comfortably. We absolutely fell in love with Rucker - the garden is beautiful and we loved that the house has different rooms for guests to explore, sit, etc. and that there's a tent outside for the band/dancing. Looking back on it, one of the biggest blessings was that we were required to use a certain florist (LSL Event Designs) and caterer (Savoie). Laure (of LSL) has been working with Rucker for years and knows it better than anyone. Between her expertise and Paula (Rucker's day-of-coordinator), we didn't need a wedding planner. From day 1, we felt comfortable and confident that everything would be taken care of. Sadly, there was a monsoon during our wedding and we had to move into the tent for the ceremony. While we didn't have the garden ceremony that we were hoping for, it was so special to have all of our friends and family gather under the tent during our ceremony. Even with those circumstances, I can still say that everything went perfectly. I can't recommend them enough!

Rucker Place was the perfect venue for my daughter's reception. Paula and Gail were so helpful and patient with our numerous questions while planning this event. They took care of everything. I was able to enjoy the reception. I would highly recommend the Historic Rucker Place.

i hosted my niece's bridesmaids luncheon at the Rucker Place and was so very pleased. The appetizers were scrumptious and the lunch salads were fresh and delicious. Paula and her staff were accommodating and super easy to work with.
Lori at LSL Event designs did a beautiful job with the flowers--matched the colors perfectly!
A charming venue and one i will recommend to others and use in the future.

My daughter knew she wanted an outdoor ceremony with market lights etc and when she saw the garden at Rucker, she was sold. Fortunately we had the large tent on stand-by as a rain plan...and at the zero hour, Paula determined she had to move everything to the tent. She and her staff had it all organized in less than 30 mins and thank goodness she made the call because we had a full on monsoon at the exact start time for the wedding. After the ceremony, our guests moved into the house for the marvelous food by Savoie Catering and we had so many great comments on how lovely the house and porches were, even with the rain falling. After cake-cutting, the band, Bonus Round, started up outside under the tent and the party really got cranked up. I'd also like to say LSL Event Design did a fabulous job with all of the flowers. Laure understood our bride's vision from the beginning. We also had Jamm Productions do draping and lighting of the tent and it was just beautiful. Rucker was a perfect venue for our wedding and we highly recommend it.
