About
Hargis Wedding Chapel is nestled in the woods of central Alabama, approximately 22 miles south of Birmingham on Old Hwy 280. It is beautifully and lovingly landscaped by it's care-taker and manager, Walter Savage, Jr. The Chapel was completed in 1967 by Florence and Estes Hargis, who had a love for nature and were dedicated to serving humanity.
The Hargis's built their home on the land in the early 1900's where traces of homes were found that were built during Andrew Jackson's presidency. It was lovingly called "Daffodil Hills" by it's owners and became known as a place where one could find the "southern hospitality" that Alabama has been so famous for. In April, Daffodil Hills comes alive with masses of prize wininning daffodils lifting their bright faces towards the sky and smiling at the sun.
On site above the Reception Hall, is a museum that protects and exhibits some of the Hargis's original furniture made of walnut, rosewood, mahogany and cherry. Also on display are old-timey kitchen utensils as well as delicate and beautiful table service. Countless antiques remind a visitor of simpler days long gone by.
