Past events have ranged from huge weddings in the St. Louis Union station and Ritz Carlton to small, intimate gatherings at a winery or backyard under a tent. Each painting is both live entertainment and a treasure for the couple as the story of their wedding reception and first dance is captured in real time.

For Gretchen, the most wonderful aspect of live wedding painting is being in the midst of your day and capturing all of it with colorful, expressive watercolor. She wants you to be able to celebrate that feeling again and again with a painting reflecting the energy and love that permeates your once-in-a-lifetime day.

Services Offered

Booking a Live Wedding painting with Gretchen Gackstatter includes a consultation about the key components you would like to see in your wedding painting. She arrives at every event 3 hours early to paint the background and stays for the full party to paint the bulk of the painting in a 24 x 30 format on heavy 300 pound Arches cotton watercolor paper.

She will then take the painting home at the end of the night to finish detail work and/ or any additional people added in studio.

After the painting is finished, Gretchen will have the painting digitally scanned and printed. She will deliver the original painting as well as five 6x8 in. Giclee prints for your guests as a memento for your day are included in the cost.

If your wedding has already taken place and you would like a painting of a scene, this professional can paint it for you from a photograph.
