Based in Hay Springs, Nebraska, Galyen Barns is a family-operated barn wedding venue. The Galyen family is the fourth generation to live on this farm. Current owner Larry Galyen’s great grandparents started the farm as a homestead at the end of the 19th century. His current focus is on creating a sustainable farm, as he and his family live a farm-to-table lifestyle, supplemented with certain items from neighboring farms. Larry’s wife, Deborah, has years of experience in interior design and the hospitality industry and is the driving force behind weddings at the farm. They are also open to hosting wedding showers and engagement parties, as well as rehearsal dinners. Elopements are welcome here.
Facilities and Capacity
Galyen Barns can host celebrations of up to 350 guests for indoor and outdoor events. A luxurious get-ready room provides a sumptuous space for the couple to prepare for their day. Couples can say their vows outside surrounded by loved ones and the organic atmosphere of a working farm. Covered indoor sites are also available in the event of inclement weather. They can then retreat to the barn for a delicious meal and celebration. Convenient restrooms and a retro hand-washing station offer guests modern amenities in a rustic setting. A vintage truck offers unique photo opportunities. Bus shuttles can be arranged to help loved ones get to the wedding in a timely yet comfortable manner.
To help couples enjoy their day as much as possible, Galyen Barns offers day-of coordination and event planning services. Larry and Deborah can support couples as much as required, including organizing catering. Rustic farm-to-table dining offers an authentic culinary experience with hearty, home-grown produce. Elegant charcuterie boards are also available for a more casual way to dine. Couples needn’t worry about finding furniture, as the barn can supply tables, chairs, and linens to support their reception. After the ceremony, guests can play games in the yard for unique entertainment that gets everyone involved. Bar and cake services can be arranged to facilitate the celebration.

Larry is usually the only rooster in the pen, so we rely on him to do almost all of the handy work around here at The Barns. Larry is a 4th generation owner of the Galyen Family Farm, which was established in 1919, and has since been recognized with the Nebraska Pioneer Farm Award. Larry is now retired from farming, but stays plenty busy with landscaping, driving the venue bus, and general repairs. He can also be seen often on his Harley Davidson...one of his favorite hobbies!
Deb was born and raised in Iowa. She holds a Master's degree in Business Administration from The University of Wyoming, and is also the Western Nebraska Market Manager for Lamar Advertising. She and Larry met in 2008, and moved to the Galyen Homestead to start Galyen Barns in 2014. Deb is a natural hostess, and always makes her guests feel welcome. Her favorite part of her job here is meeting new people, and helping them with their "big day". She also recently authored a cookbook called, "On The Table at Galyen Farms". When she finds time, her favorite thing to do is to attend live concerts.
You may recognize her from her business, Sunny Side Up🌞 which delivers farm fresh eggs to local customers. Ava has been working for Galyen Barns for 3 years, helping with our weddings and events, and whatever odd jobs need done. Her favorite part of working out here is getting to see all the different weddings. She was born in Cheyenne, lived in Whitman, and moved here when she was in 4th grade. She now attends Hay Springs High School.
