Gallery Forty-Two is a deluxe wedding venue in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana. This historic treasure, the oldest commercial building in Indianapolis, offers breathtaking spaces for your once-in-a-lifetime wedding celebration.
Facilities and Capacity
On your big day, make a grand entrance on the stunning staircase, surrounded by sculptures and fine art along each wall. Then, prepare for the celebrations ahead in the comfortable wedding lounges, complete with antique mirrors, a private makeup and hairdressing room, private bar facilities, and more. Exchange vows in the romantic ceremony space, softly lit by refined chandeliers and decorated with artwork. Then, you and your guests can make your way to the second floor's reception space, complete with a full bar and a customizable floor plan. This area transforms seamlessly from dining setting to dance floor. Altogether, you can welcome up to 120 of your nearest and dearest for your wedding celebration at Gallery Forty-Two.

The experienced team at Gallery Forty-Two offers a range of services designed to make your special day as seamless as possible. You can avail of day-of coordination, working with a skilled planner to cover all of the logistics as you get ready to say, "I do." Additional wedding package features can include custom floral installations, celebratory toasts, snacks, beverages, and even professional photography. The venue also offers seven luxury rentals nearby for overnight stays, which can host up to 30 guests. Your events team covers set-up and clean-up, and Gallery Forty-Two will provide essential furnishings like tables, chairs, and linens.

Perfect! Couldn't have asked for better
We are SO happy to have found Gallery Forty-Two and Mary! My husband and I wanted a more intimate wedding with just close family, and the gallery was perfect for us. We ended up with about 30-40 people, although the space could easily fit double that if you wanted.
The venue itself is absolutely gorgeous, and has so many amazing spaces and pieces. Honestly, words will not do it justice - you just have to see it in photographs and in person, it's just unbelievable.
Mary was an absolute joy to work with! She answered all our questions and was so flexible. We planned our own wedding, and Mary shared a bunch of ideas other couples had to help us out, and was always open to working with our ideas. She made sure our favorite statues were by the wedding arch the day of the wedding, and let us point out our favorite pieces (and asked if we wanted to veto some pieces). We wanted to do a lounge area instead of a dance floor, and she knocked it out of the park! When we were stuck on a florist, she recommended our florist (the Archivist, Paula Shoultz), who was absolutely amazing. Mary was also our day-of coordinator and ROCKED. We worried about nothing the entire day!
If you're looking for a small-midsized elegant venue in Indianapolis, you absolutely have to check out Gallery Forty-Two.

The best venue!
We are SO glad that we chose this venue. We didn’t have to decorate the venue much because it’s already so elegant with beautiful art. We had many friends coming all the way from other states, so we didn’t want to make it look too cheap. This venue offers reasonable plan, yet the quality you get is beyond that. Mary was very professional and experienced, and we fully relied on her in coordinating. This venue and Mary made our day very very special and successful. Highly recommended!

What a Find!!! Best Place Ever
We can't recommend this venue enough! Not only is it gorgeous and unique, but everyone was also absolutely wonderful to work with! Leading up to the day, Mary and Linda were responsive and helpful with our questions and helped us choose different packages according to our specific needs and budget. They worked with our requests seamlessly, and helped us connect with both a caterer and a brewery that were somewhat new to serving at weddings. We requested the use of one of their many gorgeous mirrors for a guest list. The bridal and grooms suites for getting ready are PERFECT all around--pool for the guys while the ladies take their time getting ready, wonderful photo backdrops... I could go on and on about this building. But best of all, on the evening of the reception, the staff went above and beyond for us. We never asked the bar tenders to use our sentimental glasses all night, fill them with each of our favorite beers (we had "his/hers"), and find us around the dance floor to refill them without asking... but they did! Smiling with us, visibly celebrating with us... it felt like we had made new best friends. I'm not kidding. Our wedding was the happiest, most beautiful day in so many little ways that caught us by surprise, and this venue and its owner/staff are a HUGE reason why. We will be stopping by for their other fun events and continue our support of such a wonderful place with such sweet and amazing people! Thank you, Gallery Forty-Two.

The absolute best
Gallery Forty-Two was the first venue I walked into and I knew I could just stop looking. It was beautiful and perfect for our 120 person wedding. What I didn't know when I booked was how amazing Curt and Nick would be leading up to and during my wedding day. My bridesmaids and I got ready upstairs, which was perfect. But there was an issue with our breakfast at our hotel the morning of. My planner had uber eats deliver food to the venue and Nick set it up on the bar for us with plates and silverware and coffee from the museums Keurig. This little story is just one of the many ways that they go above and beyond as a venue. They are the most flexible and easy to work with, and everything was absolutely gorgeous. Also, you get to curate the museum for your wedding night, HOW COOL?! I could not recommend booking here more!
