About

FREIGHT is a barn and farm wedding venue located in Leadville, Colorado. This historical estate was founded in 1884 as a train depot and has been transformed in recent years into a spacious event center with rustic accents and authentic charm. The freight depot was shut down in 2012 and reopened by the Anderson family in 2017 as a community gathering space and wedding venue. Here, amidst lofty ceilings, spacious grounds, and elegant interiors, you can mark your wedding day with those you love. With panoramic views of the entire Sawatch Range, FREIGHT offers a picturesque and peaceful setting. This mountainside destination is ideal for winter weddings and summer celebrations and located just two hours from Denver for convenient access.

Facilities and Capacity

The barn at FREIGHT boasts a truly rustic and rural aesthetic, making it ideal for photo backdrops on the morning of your wedding. This venue has a capacity for up to 230 guests, with the option of indoor, outdoor or combined event spaces. The wood-lined courtyard offers stunning vistas of the landscape, with chairs and altar decor arranged to suit your ceremony wishes. Following your vows, you can explore the expansive grounds for photo ops in the sun while guests enjoy a cocktail hour outdoors. The spectacular barn is characterized by rich wooden accents, high ceiling beams, and wooden flooring for dancing after dinner. The highlight of this lofty reception hall is the 32-foot-tall ceilings and sliding freight doors that allow plenty of natural light to pour in. Additionally, the wraparound deck is perfect for guests who fancy a breath of fresh air and time to mingle under the sun and stars. Other facilities at this pastoral venue include get-ready suites, restrooms, courtyard games, and a lumber rack. FREIGHT is a wheelchair-accessible wedding venue with ample parking on-site.

History
The historical restoration of FREIGHT was a team effort by the Anderson family. Architects Nan and Dave Anderson considered every structural detail and used archival photos to rehabilitate the freight depot. It鈥檚 full of special touches like restored original windows and preserved graffiti on the walls. The family's goal was to honor and capture the past while creating an elegant space for the future. The earliest recorded date on the building is an etching of October 4th, 1884, most likely carved by a former railroad worker. In the 1900s, it was used by the Smith Lumber Company for storage.
