Wedding at Dreams Cap Cana
We originally booked at this resort for our wedding of 40 when it was still a Margaritaville. The good news is that all the good reviews prior still hold true as many of the staff (bartenders, chefs, etc) are still in place and continue the great experience. The only major changes we saw were removal of Margaritaville-themed items and names, as well as a change in various pool designations.
Now, for our personally experience, specifically around the wedding weekend itself.
This property switched to a Hyatt Dreams only 3 months before our wedding date, and a lot of things got flipped on their head. Hyatt corporate did nothing to help us out during the transition time, but thankfully our final wedding planner, Arisquelmy, truly saved our entire experience. Within only a few weeks of meeting us and working back and forth, she was able to fully absorb all of the work from 3 other wedding planners and what we had been discussing with them throughout the journey and put together a spectacular weekend. Our original package included a welcome cocktail hour event, a rehearsal dinner event, ceremony, reception, and farewell beach brunch across 4 different days. Arisquelmy was there at every single event, no matter the hours, to ensure everything was put together perfectly and went smoothly. If there were small things that were missed, she took care of them immediately. She was an absolute pleasure to work with, and she is very, very deserving of the wedding planner/coordinator title. We were so thrilled with her work, coordination, attention to detail, and truly caring about us as a couple to make sure we always felt confident in the wedding and events. If you book a wedding here and have her as your coordinator, you can have all the confidence in the world that things will be amazing.
We also want to make sure to recognize Leandro for his leadership and service for all of the food and catering of our main events. All guests truly loved the food, and he made sure that every single guest with an allergy or dietary request (including gluten, dairy, and vegetarians) all had a safe AND delicious option for our events. He constantly checked in with us to make sure we were happy and everyone was satisfied.
The best bartender at the resort (not just in our opinion either) is Franyel. He usually works at the Preferred Bar in the Lobby, but at our request Arisquelmy was able to pull some strings to allow him to bartend our wedding reception on the SkyDeck. All of our guests loved not only his creative cocktails, but also his charisma and attention to detail. Make sure to visit him wherever he is working and see what creative way he makes your drink.
For the reception, the DJ (Ariel) was stellar. A true DJ in that he had the equipment, song transitions, and could really play off the vibe of the dancefloor and guests to keep everyone engaged. Music can be such a huge part of the reception, and he nailed it.
We stayed in the Villas during our week-long stay, so we had a personal butler. We had Alvaro first, who was great, but he had to take a leave due to family matters. Modesto came in and picked things up seamlessly. He made sure the bride and all of the ladies getting ready with her the day of the wedding had all the things they needed at the correct times (housekeeping, food, etc). He was very responsive for us and really helped coordinate everything throughout the week when it came to things outside of the wedding events themselves.
As part of our wedding package, we had a romantic dinner on the beach. Not only was the food and ambiance incredible, but the service was as well. Richy did an amazing job making sure everything was perfect, describing everything, and even going above and beyond taking some incredible pictures of the evening for us.
Lenny, Miriam, and Juana from the Spa all did wonderful jobs and we would absolutely visit them again.
Gregorio at the Family Pool Bar was a favorite of our entire group. He was very fun, charismatic, and always quick to help. Enmanuel (Manny) at the Villa Pool Bar had a great sense of humor and awesome drinks as well.
The only feedback we have is for the Hyatt team to correct things on the app for the resort. There were incorrect days/times for some of the restaurants and bars, leading to some confusion amongst our guests. Nothing that couldn’t be relatively easily fixed, but worth it for the Hyatt team to get those things updated.
In summary, we ended up having the most memorable time with close friends and family that we will never forget. The people mentioned above played such an important role in this, as well as many others on their teams behind the scenes. Thank you again to all, and we can’t wait to come back!
