I'm David Scruggs, an Atlanta wedding, portrait and fashion photographer, and I love working with couples who love great photography and are looking for excellent fundamental coverage of their amazing day embellished with romantic, fun creativity.

As a former Orlando Sentinel journalist, I favor a photojournalistic style of wedding coverage. That means I get the important ceremonial moments and group poses, but I also capture the looks and body language of the witnesses and celebrants, because those expressions communicate the real emotion of the day; they’re a delicious icing for any album!

Back to the bit about romantic, fun creativity: whether we’re composing an air of just-married intimacy after the ceremony or getting cheeky in a bridal shoot before the wedding day, I’m all about uniquely reflecting your tastes and bringing your whims to life in the images we create.

From the subtle glances you share with each other at the altar to the teary joy on the faces of your family and friends as you kiss for the first time as man and wife, I cover your day in a way that sets your wedding photos apart. You'll love them, and your friends and family will love them!

What to expect when you hire me:

- We'll meet initially to get acquainted, discuss your big day, and sign our agreement. You'll retain me with a 25% deposit. We'll set dates for a venue walk-through and for any pre-wedding photography we've planned.

- I'll follow up on that first meeting with a recap email and a comprehensive shot list for you to customize and return to me.

- If I'm not acquainted with your (local) venue, I'll pay it a visit on my own before our walk-through, and at the same time of day as your ceremony, so I can identify lighting opportunities and challenges.

- We'll meet at the venue(s) to walk through the event choreography, discuss photo opportunities and lighting, and doctor our shot list as needed.

- On your wedding day, I'll arrive a little early to get myself ready. I bring back-ups for all my critical gear. I often carry two cameras when I shoot. Where appropriate, I bring an assistant. I leave no earlier than the time we've agreed upon.

- After the wedding, and as workload permits, I try to post a few processed, retouched photos within a day or so, because everyone's always anxious to see something.

- As soon after the wedding as is convenient for you, we'll get together at my location with drinks and snacks to look through the proofs together on an 80-inch projection screen. We'll flag album and print candidates, and I'll give you an estimated delivery date. I'll also publish these proofs to a private online gallery for you to revisit at your leisure.

- When the work is ready, I'll let you know and we'll get together again for delivery. That's the best part, when you're finally able to hold your wedding day in your hands and relive it, moment by moment!
