About

On WeddingWire since 2020

Common House Chattanooga is a modern social club and wedding venue in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Housed in the historic 1920s YMCA and bookable by both members and non-members alike, this destination offers a unique setting for milestone events. Whether your dream occasion is an intimate soirée or a grand celebration, Common House will help bring your vision to life.

Facilities and Capacity

The property offers picturesque private event spaces for both indoor and outdoor celebrations. Couples are invited to choose from our three event spaces or pair them all together to create a natural flow: a ceremony in the Garden, cocktail hour in Pennybacker, and reception in Ruby Hall.

  • Ruby Hall, the flagship venue, accommodates parties from 20 to 300+, where natural lighting, exposed brick, and chandeliers fill the space with a rare ambiance. The mezzanine level gives newlyweds a bird's-eye view of their celebration, and the built-in stage provides a natural location for a live band or DJ.
  • Pennybacker is a more intimate gathering space, providing a unique setting for first looks, cocktail hours, or even ceremonies. Use it as a stop on your itinerary, or plan your entire day around its grand beams and original tile work.
  • Finally, for a breath of fresh air, the Garden is your spot. Host on-site ceremonies, cocktail hours, and outdoor parties for up to 250 seated or 300+ for a cocktail-style reception. The venue also offers six on-site guest rooms and a luxurious Bridal Suite, providing the perfect space for you and your wedding party to stay and prepare for the festivities.

Can't say enough good things

Seriously--I can't say enough good things about Common House. The moment my husband and I saw the architectural renderings for the building restoration, we knew we'd be getting married at Common House. The staff is wonderful and attentive and excitedly called me "the bride" all weekend long. The food is some of the best I've ever had (especially at our tasting!). The variety of venue spaces accommodate every piece of your wedding schedule (rehearsal dinner in Pennybacker, getting ready in the Bridal Suite, ceremony and cocktail hour in the Garden, and reception in Ruby Hall). The ambiance is completely unmatched. The entire building and almost every corner in it is photo-worthy (seriously, this place is a photographer's dream). And then we have Rebecca, the events manager, who was so generous with her time and her attention leading up to our wedding. She was a well of helpful information and helped every bit of our vision come to life that weekend.

Common House makes wedding planning and wedding execution painless and easy because of its team, space, in-house bar/catering and things included in your rental fee that would otherwise be very costly (like the beautiful wooden tables and chairs in every space, rather than paying crazy cash for cheap plastic tables that require table cloths). I could go on forever. Can't say enough kind words about this place or its people or experiences there before, during, and even after our wedding!

The most incredible venue!

The most beautiful venue. Staff is absolutely incredible. We got married here last Friday, had our ceremony and reception in the Garden Space and everything went flawlessly! We are so appreciative of Tony, Savannah, and the entire staff behind the scenes at Common House. Having everything all in one space was the deal maker for us, food was excellent, bar service was 10/10, we were able to get ready at the venue! It was truly incredible. Forever grateful for this team 🤍

10/10 Venue - Highly Recommend!

My husband and I had very high expectations for our wedding weekend and I am happy to share that Common House exceeded them across the board. Everything about our three events came together seamlessly, largely due to the hospitality and hard work of everyone at Common House.

Our wedding weekend started with rehearsal dinner and welcome drinks on Friday. The rehearsal dinner on Friday was beautifully set and the food was phenomenal. We selected the family style option, which I highly recommend. The format makes the meal more interactive and it lets individuals take as much as they would like. There was more than enough food and the Common House staff was highly attentive to making sure everyone had what they needed. I forgot to inform Common House of two allergies before the rehearsal dinner and they accommodated both requests in real time (and both guests loved what they were served!). The welcome drinks took place in the Garden and the setting could not have been more perfect. Common House set up the fire pit and put out space heaters, and arranged the space in a way that worked perfectly for our ~100 guests on Friday evening.

On Saturday, our cocktail hour took place in the Garden before our ~130 guests headed upstairs to Ruby Hall for dinner and dancing. The reception was incredible because everything was taken care of, from the space set up to the drinks to the food. My husband and I cared a lot about having no lines at the bar, and Common House made sure to keep the bar moving quickly and having wine passed during Cocktail Hour. The food at our reception was also family style, which our guests loved. Everyone who came to the wedding commented on how good the food was. While we expected the food to be fantastic because we had eaten at the Common House restaurant, we were really pleased that the quality was just as high when served for 130 guests. Ruby Hall was an incredible space for dancing - we had a nine-piece band on the stage and we could not have had a better time dancing with our friends and family.

Our wedding weekend wrapped up with a brunch in the Garden on Sunday. The space set up and the food on Sunday was just as excellent as it had been on Friday and Saturday. The garden looked beautiful and the Common House staff made sure everything went smoothly.

Overall, we could not believe how much fun we had at our wedding. Thanks to the team at Common House, we felt cared for and we rest assured knowing every detail was in place to make it a huge success. We love Common House and cannot wait to celebrate more occasions in the beautiful space!
