We had our wedding at Caneel, and it was amazing. Allison was super organized, and had a great eye for the details that I was looking for. She worked well with all of our vendors and the event was perfect. We had our ceremony on Turtle Bay Beach and the reception on the Verandah. It was the perfect setting for our day, and Allison and the Caneel team really helped make our day amazing.

The venue speaks for itself! You will not find a more beautiful place to get married on St. John. On top of the natural beauty of the venue, Allison and Liz were great with all of our questions, concerns and last minute changes. We communicated mostly through email leading up to the wedding and over the phone closer to the wedding and while we were there. The entire event ran smoothly and was so easy for us. We were able to enjoy our day to the fullest and we wouldn't change anything!

I don't have enough words to describe how thankful we are for everything Liz and Allison did for us. While there were a few staff changes prior to working with Liz and Allison - once they came on board, they made the entire experience worthwhile and seamless. Allison was truly one of a kind and there to ensure every detail was followed through. Being a unique wedding with half of the guests on island and the other half international - Allison worked diligently to make everyone's stay at Caneel truly unbelievable.

I was very specific when it came to my decorations and the way I wanted the day laid out. Allison took in every single detail and truly made it the most remarkable day. From my table runners, to the millions of votives I wanted placed at the tables - she truly captured my vision and made it so much more. Most brides can't say their wedding day was one of the most relaxing day of their lives, but mine truly was. There wasn't anything that needed my attention - Allison handled all of it. She even kept me hydrated through pictures and catered me around in a SUV with AC (lifesaver in the islands). She is truly one of a kind and has an absolute heart of gold. Every wedding is so special to her and you can see that in her work. I would 100% recommend Caneel Bay to all couples looking for that perfect wedding experience. The pictures speak for themselves - it's one of the most beautiful and cherished places I've ever been to. We will definitely be back to visit Allison and the staff next June for our one-year anniversary!

Caneel Bay is not only a beautiful resort but an absolutley amazing place to get married! My husband and I got to enjoy planning a wedding with the amazing staff there the past year. Allison, Liz, Robin and Vera were an amazing group of ladies to work with to make our wedding dreams come true. They were professional, fun and overall just a true pleasure to get to know. Turtle Point is truly a breathtaking spot overlooking the Caribbean at sunset and was the perfect setting to say I do! Every detail was addressed and you always felt like you were being taken care of to the fullest. I would not have changed one thing and will be forever grateful to the entire staff there for all of their hard-work to make our wedding more than we could have ever imagined!

I was lucky to live on St. John for over a year, so was familiar with many of the venues when selecting Caneel Bay for our destination wedding. Caneel is a truly special place on a very special island, and made for the celebration of a lifetime. Allison Sells and her staff went above and beyond on every level—both in terms of the ceremony and reception, and also our comfort during our stay (we also had a wonderful wedding planner, Michelle Fage of Paradise Planning).

We purposely chose April because it’s one of the driest moths on island. The weather was perfect surrounding the ceremony, during which we hosted a great sunset sail aboard Kekoa and fantastic welcome dinner at Rhumb Lines. Then, on the wedding day, it rained--unusual for dry season, where you might get a cloud burst, but rarely constant showers.

You can’t control the weather, so the next best thing is to plan for it. It’s a true testament to Allison, Michelle, and the Caneel staff that ultimately, the rain didn’t matter. I was able to relax with my bridesmaids and family—and have a delicious luncheon—while the planners seamlessly transitioned what was going to be an outdoor, tented event at Turtle Point into a gorgeous ceremony and reception at the Turtle Bay Estate House. My husband and I keep saying how it was even better than if we’d been able to wed outside. The Estate House is an elegant venue with an indoor/outdoor layout, which they quickly decorated with beautiful hanging lights and white curtains. Guests could still enjoy gorgeous views of the water and property, but dined comfortably in the lovely (air conditioned!) dining room, with easy access to restrooms. Though there’s not a single spot in Caneel that isn’t postcard-worthy, I’d definitely recommend hosting a ceremony and reception at the Estate House.

The drizzle eventually stopped, and the sun peeked out. They say that rain is lucky on your wedding day, and we feel extra lucky we were able to have had our wedding at Caneel.

I cannot thank Allison enough for the wonderful job that she and the staff at Caneel Bay did for our wedding! The venue is incredible (we were married on Turtle Bay Point, with reception in the Estate House). The food was amazing - we had food stations and our guests are still talking about great it was. Allison and the team at Caneel were organized, thoughtful, and executed the event perfectly. It's the things like going and getting ice cold towels for guests who were very hot from all the dancing, to giving us one of the freshly renovated rooms right on the beach, to helping us with a special wine bottle that we wanted to serve at our wedding that really speaks to how much Allison cares about the brides and grooms who get married here. Additionally, staff throughout the property were incredibly kind and thoughtful - they knew we were there for our wedding without us saying anything, and went above and beyond in all aspects of services for us.

Vera Payne is in incredible wedding coordinator at Caneel Bay. She has years of experience and helped pull off my wedding without a hitch. She helped accomodate all of my requests and helped make the wedding of my dreams become a reality. Vera is an absolute pleasure to work with and I highly recommend using Caneel Bay as a ceremony and reception site.

We had a brunch reception here after our wedding. The event planner was great, the service was great, the venue was beautiful. All in all, I'd recommend. Food was good, but not outstanding - given how expensive it was. That is just me being nit-picky though. The scenery and the service made it a great overall experience.

Caneel Bay Resort was the perfect setting for our wedding reception. We wanted to have our reception in one of the sugar mill ruins on their property but it unfortunately could only hold a max of 40 people. Luckily we were able to do our cocktail hour there and then move the dinner reception to the Beach Terrace. It was perfect for the party of 50-55 people that we had. The kids enjoyed running on the beach during the reception to play tag, people enjoyed seeing the sunset right before dinner, and the openness of the terrace allowed for a nice breeze as the evening wore on. They even set up the area exactly how we envisioned it and were able to place drapery and lighting for us! The service was great and the servers were extremely friendly! They kept checking on us to make sure we had everything we wanted! Vera was a pleasure to work with and she was extremely friendly! Only negatives I could think of were: we had to push our wedding day up one day due to crazy pricing issues. Our initial date was supposed to be 1-4-14 but with some of the rules that Caneel had with having a certain block of rooms, we did not want to have our guests have to pay for insanely expensive accommodations so we had to opt out and push our wedding to 1-3-14. Also, by planning a destination wedding, we were unable to do some of the "fun" parts of the planning like cake tasting or trying the menu. We arrived 3 days before our actual wedding date and they were unable to do this part for us nor were they able to apply some of those conveniences to the required one night stay that we had to do since we were having an event on the property. Don't get me wrong, I could see why the prices were so extreme... it is a VERY NICE property... but you would think that since you were having an event on property... they would comp you something... like at least a free breakfast or anything! At times, it was a bit frustrating working with Caneel but in the end, everything turned out just right.
