I’ve been baking and decorating cakes for 17 years now. My mother decorated cakes, so I grew up with lots of sweetness. I guess I thought everyone’s mom decorated really cool cakes like mine!
While I enjoyed watching my mother make cakes, I decided to go to college for teaching. I enjoyed the French language and culture and decided to pursue teaching this subject. I completed my masters in teaching and taught French part-time at the University of South Dakota. I was also fortunate to study abroad in Paris for a year, and this is where I fell in love again with baking and pastries! When I returned to the U.S., I decided to open my own cake shop. I found it to be a wonderful artistic outlet. I also enjoy the happiness it brings to my clients. I believe what makes my cakes stand out is ingredients and freshness. I use real sweet cream butter and milk in my frosting, unlike most grocery store cakes. I believe that taste should not be compromised when creating an important memory.
