Cairnwood Estate is a wedding venue located in Bryn Athyn, Pennsylvania. Built in 1895 by the plate glass magnate John Pitcairn, the property was, from the beginning, a testament to the power of love and family. Intended as a home for his wife, Gertrude, and their children, the estate hosted its first wedding in 1896. Today, the venue is proud to continue the tradition that John and Gertrude began, all those years ago. You and your guests are invited to explore the many wonders that the property has to offer. Enjoy a walk in the beautiful gardens or imbibe the serene atmosphere of the Pitcairns’ library, and make memories that you can cherish forever.
Facilities and Capacity
Cairnwood Estate includes both indoor and outdoor event facilities. The venue can accommodate up to 275 guests. The first floor of the mansion is comprised of six rooms. These feature beautiful paneled walls and hardwood floors. The Great Hall is the venue’s main indoor event space. In it stands a magnificent fireplace of carved stone. On the opposite side of the Hall, an exquisite U-shaped staircase leads to the private dressing suites on the second floor. The suites contain period-appropriate furniture and offer a lovely view of the nearby woodland.
For your convenience, the venue is happy to provide you with a list of preferred vendors. This covers everything from accommodations to cakes and photography. A select number of catering options are also available for your consideration. Every caterer on this exclusive list promises great food and premier service. Treat your friends and family to a grand celebration, or opt for a more intimate occasion. With no minimum guest count requirement, you have the freedom to craft the event that is just right for you.
Pitcairn commissioned the eminent firm of Carrère and Hastings to undertake the design. Exponents of the Beaux-Arts style, Carrère and Hastings’ plan included a number of features familiar to that school. Elements drawn from Greek architecture were combined with Roman arches and French doors to produce a space that was as welcoming as it was elegant. The grounds and gardens are the work of Fredrick Law Olmstead and his partner, Charles Eliot. Olmstead was a figure of considerable reputation in his time, and today, he is regarded as the father of American landscape architecture. His list of projects includes New York’s Central Park and the campuses of Cornell and Yale University.

Hidden Gem outside of Philadelphia
The employees at Cairnwood are so accommodating and helpful. They took my fiancé and I around on our first tour and were very informative and then allowed us to come back again and tour it ourselves. The grounds are beautiful and we can’t wait to have our wedding here!Sent on 01/06/2019

The pictures speak for itself. We received endless compliments on the beauty of this wedding venue. It is a magical place to have a wedding reception. Not only is it a breathtaking property, the staff are all very professional and were a pleasure to plan a wedding with. They were all very helpful and we could not be happier with our decision to have our reception here.Sent on 11/03/2019

This venue was an historic beauty. If you want to feel like a princess on your wedding day, this is the place to go to. They do not do weddings but they have facilities they refer to. But for receptions, this is a great choice.Sent on 02/21/2019
