We wanted to have our rehearsal dinner at Cafe Gibraltar since it was where we had our first date. From the very beginning they were very accomodating. The event turned into a much larger affair as my father in law decided they wanted to host and turn it into a full family dinner. We ended up renting out the entire restaurant for the evening and it felt like we truly owned the restaurant that night. Liam and Jose Louis (owners and chef) were fantastic. Made recommendations, designed special menus for the vegans in the party, and were just generally down to earth and nice. Cafe Gibraltar has always been a favorite of mine before our wedding, but now I want to go back every year on our anniversary. Oh, and the food! How can I not comment on the food! Superb. Jose Louis is a master chef. Uses only organic, seasonal, fresh ingredients. The flavors are amazing. And they have an extensive wine list to compliment that Liam is very helpful pairing for you. Just go to dinner one night and step out of your comfort zone of what you might normally order and you will be pleasantly suprised. Try the boar! It is now one of my favorites.

The highlight of my two day wedding was our post ceremony dinner at Cafe Gibraltar. Where to begin? We had a small banquet for 20 guests, bride and groom included. The restaurant had a beautiful atmosphere, and accomodated all of our guests at one long table. We had a 4 course prix fix menu with appetizer platter, salads or shrimp bisque, 5 amazing entree choices, including lamb fillet AND salmon, and 3 gourmet deserts. What WOW's us is how this restaurant can charge only $45 dollars a head for this stunning 4 course gourmet feast. Plus they credited us the corkage fee on the 5 outside bottles of champagne we brought in, because we bought 5 bottles of wine with dinner, saving us $15 a bottle. The food is served beautifully and tastes even better. Our guests are STILL raving about this place. Best of all is the service. This restaurant made us feel like we were longtime favorite customers, even though it was our first visit. For ANY bride getting married in Half Moon Bay, please please consider Gibraltar. If you are having a larger wedding, I would HIGHLY suggest you look at Gibraltar for your rehearsal dinner. For those not getting married, any party of 8 or more can design a similar prix fix menu at that $45 a person price, so invent a reason!
