This place is so beautiful and heavenly, but as a “venue” it doesn’t offer much service and they operate very casually (as opposed to professionally). They don’t even use email and everything was verbally agreed, but that lead to some inconsistencies in what we were told from one month to another like what time we were allowed in to start set up. You can only reach the person booking events by phone Mon-Thurs during certain hours. They do not have event staff, the only restroom is either a long ways away from any of the good wedding sites or a dirty porta potty. Most of the gardeners that were around that day were nice except one guy who was rude and acted like we were a complete nuisance. They would not let the caterers van or our truck carrying some of our stuff drive to the end of the service road, so the catering staff and my friends had to haul a lot of things by foot up and down stairs and hills. FYI they do not allow any glass, fake flowers, or affixing any decoration on anything except the arch— completely understandable since it’s a garden and historic preserve, but that combined with the minimal service makes for a tricky venue to work with. You also have to be out of there by 6pm (closing time) and take out the trash. There is little to no cell service in the area so if I were to do this again I would’ve gotten some radios so that our day of coordinator (my husbands best friend) and other hired vendors could communicate.

I absolutely loved the place and wouldn’t have done it any other way, but our friends and family helped us set up and break down — lucky a majority of us are in the hospitality industry and experienced setting up events. The place is great for a laid back DIY hands on wedding but it is certainly not a full service venue

While to venue at Blue Springs Heritage Center is gorgeous, it is not worth the stress of working with the staff. Everything was unorganized and the staff was completely unprofessional. The price for the venue was increased 3 times after we signed the contract, with the last price increase only a month before the wedding. We were promised certain amenities (including an air-conditioned room for myself, the bride, to get dressed in for our June wedding), only to be told the day before that those were not an option. Dealing with Blue Springs was the most stressful aspect of our wedding, even including postponing the event due to Covid.
