Blacktop Event Co. provides professional wedding DJ and event production services in New Bern and throughout Eastern North Carolina. From ceremony audio and wireless microphones to reception music, MC support, dance-floor lighting, uplighting, and additional sound coverage, we build each setup around what the celebration actually needs.

Our approach combines detailed planning with a DJ who knows how to read the room. We work closely with couples, planners, venues, photographers, caterers, and the rest of the wedding team to keep the timeline moving naturally, handle transitions confidently, and create a dance floor that feels energetic without turning your reception into a nightclub unless that is exactly what you want.

That means we are not interested in building a stripped-down package and then asking you to upgrade every microphone, speaker, light, or piece of equipment along the way. The only experiences we intentionally separate are Blacktop Prelude and Blacktop Afterdark, because they extend beyond the traditional wedding-day DJ service and serve a completely different purpose.

Blacktop Prelude

We believe meeting your DJ for the first time on your wedding day is too late.

Blacktop Prelude is a pre-wedding DJ experience built around spending real time with you, your family, and the people who matter most before the big day. It can become part of an engagement party, rehearsal gathering, birthday celebration, family event, or another gathering leading up to your wedding.

It gives us something a planning questionnaire never can: a chance to see how your group interacts, what gets them moving, what music brings out the stories, and who the personalities are in the room.

By the time the wedding arrives, we are no longer walking in as strangers.

Blacktop Afterdark

Sometimes the reception ends before the party does.

Blacktop Afterdark is our late-night wedding experience for couples who want to keep going after the traditional reception concludes. Depending on the venue and the plans for the evening, Afterdark can either extend the celebration at your reception location or move the party to a second location.

It gives us room to shift gears. Formalities are finished, the ties loosen, the heels disappear, and the music can move into a different part of the night.

Rather than simply selling another hour of DJ service, Afterdark is designed as the next chapter of the celebration.

BLACKTOP RECEPTION

Already said “I do”? Blacktop Reception is designed for couples celebrating after an elopement, destination wedding, courthouse ceremony, or ceremony held at another location. You get the complete Blacktop reception experience with professional DJ/MC service, sound, lighting, timeline support, music planning, and the equipment your celebration actually needs, without paying for ceremony production you won't use.
