About
The Armory Ballroom was completed in 1885. It was the home of the Macon Volunteers, a volunteer military unit that also doubled as a civic organization. During the years that the Macon Volunteers were in service, the ballroom which hosted social events and balls, also doubled as a drill hall for the military unit.
In 2005 with the help of historic preservationist and achitect Sammy Thompson, restorations began to restore the Armory Ballroom to its former splendor. Restorations were completed in 2006 by Garbutt Construction and the doors were opened to this beautiful, historic, downtown Macon landmark.
Now the beautifully restored Armory Ballroom proudly hosts weddings and special events of any occasion. With ample room for seating, a fully stocked bar, and a stage and sound system, the room lends itself to weddings, dining, music, and dancing.
