I am a minister with the Universal Life Church. I became ordained on July 3, 2013. Since that time I have officiated over 90 wedding ceremonies and several funerals and memorial services. I am a recovering attorney, and was born and raised in Albuquerque. I have lived in various places including Washington, DC, Puerto Rico and Florida, but I came "HOME" to Albuquerque for good 10 years ago. I love our city and our enchanted state, and for both residents and visitors, there are so many beautiful sites in Albuquerque and in New Mexico to hold a ceremony. Here in Albuquerque, I am very active. I am married to my husband Andy, our wedding was in 2014, the year after same-sex marriages became legal in New Mexico. We have 3 dogs and own a rental property with a house and 3 apartments, and we are currently buying the house next door to our existing property. We also own Madness Motors, a car shop to restore classic cars. I am on the boards of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains and the Wheels Museum, and was past president of the board of the Albuquerque LGBTQ+ Chamber of Commerce (now New Mexico Out Business Alliance www.nmoba.org). I am the LGBTQ+ Ambassador for the City of Albuquerque, and the LGBTQ+ Liaison for Albuquerque Tourism and Sightseeing Factory. I try my best to make my home community an even better place to live, work and vacation.
I became a minister to be able to officiate weddings for same-sex couples, who were sometimes having problems finding officiants. About 50% of the weddings I have officiated now have been between gay or lesbian couples, who prior to 2013, could not get married in New Mexico. But I am proud to work with our larger community on one of the most joyous days a couple has.
I am easy to get along with and relaxed to put you at ease. Because I got married in 2014 for the first time, I remember the stress of planning a wedding because my husband works fulltime and I am retired. So I did most of the planning and consulted with him on everything. Your ceremony is one of the most important things you will ever do in your life, so I team up with the two of you to make this part of it as stress-free as possible. I want you to have the most special wedding possible. No matter the occasion, I work with YOU to make your life event the most special and memorable it can be. For weddings, I meet with both of you, learn about you, how you met, how long you've been together, when one of you proposed, and what you want in a wedding service. I then tailor my service so that it is personalized just for the two of you. I have performed ceremonies in both English and Spanish. I love out of the ordinary locations for weddings. I have officiated weddings in all kinds of settings, in a mountain cabin, on the 9th hole of a golf course, at the zoo, on top of, or in the foothills of the mountains, even in my own living room and backyard. I have performed an "emergency wedding" after one of the couple suffered a heart attack. One groom even came dressed as his favorite superhero. I have worn a medieval knave's outfit for a medieval-themed wedding. I incorporated language from tango dancing into the ceremony for a tango-themed wedding. Just a few have been in churches but the majority are in different settings. I have performed sand and wax ceremonies as well as a butterfly ceremony. And in several weddings, the couple's children were included in the ceremony to unite them as a family. Whether you prefer a traditional wedding or a service that's entirely your own, I can help you.
My services are compassionate and loving and are tailored entirely for you and your special day. I work with you so you get what you want, a ceremony both of you, and your guests, will remember all your lives. When you're ready to make that commitment to each other, please contact me and we'll set up an appointment.
