A String Affair was started in 2001 by Dimitri Lazarescu, member of The Phoenix Symphony. Recognizing the need for a quality group of musicians needed for various functions and events, Dimitri selected Valley's best professional musicians that are part of the same organization as he is, to work for A String Affair. Dimitri has played for hundreds of events, some of which were quite memorable. Such events include Chamber Music played at Barack Obama's book signing tour in 2006, Senator Jay Rockefeller's party in the mid 1980s, FedEx CEO Fred Smith daughter's wedding in Jackson Hole, WY in the late 1990s and many, many more.

Our repertoire is very vast, from Baroque to Jazz, from Classical to Opera, from Romantic to Show Tunes and with incursions into Ethnic Music, Rock'n Roll, Traditional, Religious and much more. Dimitri has arranged popular music for String Quartet which has not been arranged before and he can also arrange any piece of your choice, for String Quartet (for a small fee). Some of his arrangements for String Quartet include "O Mio Babbino Caro", "Un Bel Di", "Summertime" from  the operatic repertoire, "Sabre Dance", "Marriage of Figaro" from the classical music repertoire, many rags dating to the early 1900s and some rock tunes as well.
