My fiance and I decided on 10/8 to get married on 11/14. Not many caterers responded to the call but of the 4 who did, Zeffert and Gold were standouts. They were competitively priced and actually gave better value for the money than the others - with a more complete menu AND a full service rental package (dishes, glasses, linens).
1. The food was incredibly good. My guests raved at the party, online on Facebook, in emails and phone calls for days afterwards. Many admitted to 2nd and 3rd helpings and we still had lots of food left over so I didn't have to cook the first few days after the wedding.
2. They worked magic within my budget; beef tenderloin AND teriyaki salmon that was to-die-for.
3. Elaine was my consultant; we were doing and in-home wedding and reception. She came to my house for a site review; Elaine was friendly, almost motherly, and had great suggestions and calming answers to my questions. She helped me come up with a short list of things that I could do to rearrange some of the seating to ensure my guests' comfort.
4. The team that came to the house was wonderful, getting set up quickly and efficiently. The bartender got set up so fast that he offered to help sweep/clear my front walk.
5. They did a beautiful job dressing the tables - one for hor d'oevres and one for the dinner buffet - using fall foliage garland and the aqua linens Elaine and I chose to compliment my home's decor.
6. The team was flexible with the schedule: hors d'oevres table and wine/soda 6-7 PM, facilitated a bread and wine blessing after the service, champagne passed around for a toast, dinner service followed by cake/dessert. (Dessert in addition to cake is a good idea! Folks adored the mini-key lime pies and mousse mice.
7. Laureen took good care of me and my husband; she made sure we each got a plateful of food and a place to sit and eat it.
8. The team took special care of my oldest guest (89) and my disabled guests, waiting on them personally; they even noted which guests I introduced as my boss or my husbands and went out of their way to ensure they were taken care of too.
9. They didn't rush anyone but packed up quickly and on time, leaving the house and garage (their staging area) very clean.
We were thrilled with the food, the service, the flexibilty and the friendliness of the wait staff. I am a professional project manager and I only wish that my project teams were as organized, efficient, effective, succesful and NICE as the staff from Zeffert and Gold.

I cannot say enough praise for Iris and the staff working at Zeffert and Gold! Our wedding was just 2 days ago and our guests are still raving about how excellent the food was, and how courteous, sweet, and professional the staff members were. Choosing a caterer for a wedding is a daunting task, and thankfully I received a personal recommendation to use Zeffert. After having met with Iris in person and having her respond so quickly to my numerous questions and concerns via email, I felt completely confident that they would do a great job. They didn't just do a great job, they did a superb job! I never once had any worries during the entire evening, and stuffed myself silly with their delicious food! I wouldn't hesitate to use Zeffert again in the future, and will recommend them to anyone looking for a caterer.

Thank you Iris Gold...working with Zeffert and Gold was one of the best decisions we made! The food was delicious and the staff was a true pleasure to work with, very flexible and enthusiastic about our event. WE opted for a cocktail style reception, so no sit down dinner, which require Zeffert & Gold to be creative and timely with appetizers throughout the evening. further, as our main attraction was had them develop a mashed potato bar that received rave reviews!
The only complaint I have is that we were told we would have a plate of food from the wedding waiting in our hotel room after the event (the bride and groom don't get to eat...FYI!), which would have been wonderful and was something we were looking forward to, unfortunately it was not there at 1am when the festivities were over :(
Despite this, i would still highly recommend their services and feel that, based on comments about the food and our experience with the staff, this is one of the best caterers in town!

The staff members at Zeffert and Gold were very efficient and professional. We worked mostly with Iris Gold and loved how excited she was about our wedding, making it special. Iris took care of many small details that took a great deal of stress off of us. Our wedding was originally planned for outside, but the weather did not cooperate. Zeffert and Gold took charge, insuring that our last-minute inside ceremony was lovely. The day of the wedding, Aaron Gold had to substitute for Iris. His responsiveness to our needs allowed us to completely enjoy ourselves without having to worry about the details and changes of the evening.

The staff at Zeffert & Gold was professional, flexible, and easy to work with - they even catered to our request for Filipino food and Tres Leches cake. The food was delicious and we received many compliments from guests.

They have absolutely wonderful and delicious food! They catered my wedding 2 weeks ago and they were all professional, punctual, and very courteous. They made sure that my husband and I were served food right away to give us an opportunity to eat at our own wedding, and they arranged everything for us so that we had nothing to worry about on our special day!

Iris Gold was such a pleasure to work with!! The food was outstanding (our guests loved everything, from what we heard), they let us be creative in our choices. Iris has a wealth of knowledge about weddings - not just about catering, but other rentals you may need, even down to the planning and helping set up. Very well organized, staff is courteous and pleasant. Overall our experience was wonderful. We'd highly recommend Zeffert & Gold!

Zeffert and Gold were absolutely wonderful to work with. The food was amazing and such a great value, which is hard to come by in this economy. All of my guests raved about how delicious the food was and everyone loved cocktail hour. We had 9 different appetizers, you can't go wrong with Zeffert and Gold. Thank you Iris for all your help. We used the Celebrations (kosher catering) side of Zeffert and Gold and couldn't have been more pleased! We didn't want "typical" wedding food (chicken or salmon, etc). They did an amazing job working with us to create a unique experience. Everyone raved about the food and everyone is still talking about the cake - how it looked AND how it tasted (seriously, how often does that happen).
Monroe was great to work with, would say "sounds great" when I sent him quirky ideas, would make suggestions where he knew from his experience that things would go more smoothly, totally worked with me on the taste of the cake and even agreed to use a family recipe, and really just bent over backward to accomodate us. He also stayed in touch about information he needed, spoke directly with the guests with food allergies beforehand to make sure he completely understood their needs (!) and several people even noted that the servers were walking around with lists and table locations of people with food allergies. Plus, we got the leftovers to take home with us!
I can't say enough about them and the only reason I took off a half star on the quality is that they were a little slow in getting food to us (not the rest of the guests, but it was buffet-style so we had someone assigned to bring us food) - it took so long that we thought they forgot and my husband got up to get his own food). Aside from that, it was even better than I had hoped. My jaded husband told me nobody ever remembers the food or the cake, but he even agrees that in this case people just keep complimenting us on it and it is completely justified!

We had tried to meet with a bunch of different caterers, but the response and professionalism we received from Zeffert and Gold made them stand out immediately. We worked with Iris, who was great - really helpful (and fun!) from the tasting, to picking out linens and everything in between. The food and service at our wedding was fantastic - you will not regret working with Zeffert and Gold, they are first class all the way.

The cocktail hour left everyone stuffed. My brother said he couldn't eat another bite because he would have to open the button on his pants. Now this is a compliment!!!! All my guest loved the flavor of the food and were quite happy with the service. SO was I.

Mozelle Scott-Bey, my wedding planner, helped me find the perfect caterer in Zeffert and Gold. Our contact, Iris Gold, was magical. We dreamed up a very different menu that worked better for our budget and Iris was more than happy to make it happen. Our guests had never seen anything like it! They were drinking the crab dip during the cocktail hour!!! Zeffert and Gold Catering offers the ultimate in flexibility and value.

Aaron is a catering godsend. Not only did he jump-in at the last minute when my other caterer cancelled (see Innovative Gourmet review), he also handled my special requests with ethusiasum.
I wanted my wedding to be as environmentally friendly as possible, including using local and organic foods. Aaron did a great job finding local seafood and an organic beef producer. He also sourced local, organic salad greens and tons of other ethical food; served my favorite vegetarian sausage at the wedding brunch; and served fairtrade coffee. Aaron took a chance and created an appetizer I wanted to serve, even though it wasn't on his current menu, and it turned out fabulous! Green catering was not Aaron's expertise when we started working together, but he really took my requests to heart.
Not only was the food fabulous and the presentation beautiful, but Zeffert and Gold's staff service was seamless. There was literally one staff person who always made sure I had appetizers during pictures, fresh drinks put in my hand all night and a slice of cake! I would have barely eaten had it not been for the staff.
Go with Zeffert & Gold, you won't be disappointed!
