Short notice, low budget, small, no frills kind of wedding
My wife and I decided we wanted to get married and with family from both sides invited (and living in different states) we needed to find some sort of neutral ground that would be “equally inconvenient” for everyone on short notice. From initial discussion to wedding day was only about 6 weeks. We wanted simple and to the point. As it happened, one of our most favorite places (Deep Creek) was almost exactly the same distance to drive for everyone on both sides. I called and spoke to Lisa who told me the date we wanted was available and that they could make anything we wanted happen and emailed me the information quickly. My emails and phone calls were always answered by her team promptly and overall, they were a pleasure to deal with. They really did make this a simple and straight forward process from start to finish. We exchanged vows off site (though Lisa had some great options had we decided to conduct the ceremony at the resort) and then everyone drove over for a great catered meal. We chose the meal option of the Prime Rib and BBQ Chicken. The food was amazing. The room was set up perfectly and we weren’t rushed at all. We were allowed to do our own thing and we could have decorated or re-arranged any way we wanted. On our event day, we spotted a fireplace in the main dining hall that we wanted to take some pictures in front of and they immediately lit it to accommodate our request.
I would highly recommend Wisp to anyone looking to host a wedding (or other event).
*note - we didn’t think to take any pictures before our catered lunch to show off the room and the pictures that were taken didn’t capture enough to show off. -

Lisa and the resort is amazing!
My husband and I got married at Wisp on 10/01/2022. We could not be happier with how our day turned out. Leading up to the wedding, Lisa met with us in early 2021 and was extremely professional, friendly and informative. Later when we booked with the venue, we asked for a food tasting and they said they don’t usually offer that. However they were extremely accommodating and prepared an elaborate food tasting for my husband, mom and dad. Lisa and Larissa respond to emails promptly and find answers to questions in a timely manner. The resort itself has so much to offer. The resort is nicely kept and has an everlasting source of natural beauty. Lisa and Larissa were supportive in helping me decide when and where to move my ceremony as it was raining and forecasted to rain for the next 24 hours into our wedding date. I was unsure about one of the venue spots for the ceremony but Lisa and Larissa assured me to it would like beautiful. They were right. It all looked so stunning. Highly recommend Lisa and her team!! -

Perfect Covid Wedding
Lisa and Wisp resort was a life saver! Like many 2020 brides I had to postpone my large wedding in San Diego and reschedule back on the east coast so our immediate families could drive. I contacted Lisa about 6 weeks prior to our wedding date and she was able to pull together a team, make recommendations for food and local vendors. She made planning a destination wedding so simple and took away all my worries of not seeing the site prior to our wedding day. The actual day went perfect! We had perfect weather for the mountain top ceremony. All my guests loved the bonfire and s’mores post reception instead of dancing. Covid couldn’t stop us from having a small wedding with immediate family. -

Nothing but great things to say.
It was an absolutely perfect day from start to finish. All of the staff were great! Everyone went above and beyond to make sure the day ran smoothly. The ceremony site at the top of mountain is breathtaking. We took the chairlift down to the reception. It was perfect and a needed few mins to relax with my husband. (It would be nice if the chairlift was included in the package.)
The food was delicious. We had our reception in the yurt. There was a cocktail hour and snacks at the end of the night along with an abundance of dinner food of course. After the reception we had a bonfire. It was a great way to end the night!
The wedding coordinators where extremely helpful and great to work with! Many friends and family have told us since that it was their favorite wedding they had ever been to. We would very highly recommend! So very glad we had our wedding at Wisp!
We used Trish at Petal Branch for flowers, Higher Focus Studios photography, Mountain Flour for cake and Paul McGrady DJ. I could never say enough good things about each of these vendors. Absolutely loved them!!! -

Every step of the way, the team helped to provide us with resources and ideas for our wedding in just a short time of 3 months. The food was delicious and has many compliments from our guests on our food chooses (we chose a bbq them). The staff was very accomidating with helping the reception site look the way we had invisioned and also allowed us to extend our reception a little longer than we had originally planned. The day could not have gone any smoother or more perfect.

S Sent on 04/05/2018Everything was great! We had our ceremony at the top of the ski slope with such a beautiful view. Our reception was in the yurt village. Food was good. Everything went smoothly, the people we worked with at Wisp were professional and made sure everything was organized.
Also it was so convenient how they have a hotel right there at Wisp. Our wedding party and guests stayed there. :) -

Everything was set up exactly as we asked and any extras were never dismissed. Our family and friends couldn't have been happier with the results, we'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an elegant and charming mountain resort wedding. Thanks Wisp!!! :-)

Erin Sent on 07/09/2017The WISP Resort is a BEAUTIFUL setting to have a wedding ceremony and reception. Whether it is indoors (ours was in the "Mountain Mist Tent" and it was very elegant...just what I wanted) or outdoors on top of the mountain, they work hand-in-hand with you to make sure your special day is planned just how YOU want it. We got so many compliments from our guests about the venue, the wedding ceremony itself and the FOOD!!! People talked A LOT about how delicious the food was (especially the Prime Rib)! We are locals in the Deep Creek area and do not live too far away from the WISP.
I wanted to stay in the area and compared other locations and venues to the WISP and nothing came close to the convenience and amenities that the WISP had to offer us for our wedding. Everything from the bridal party stay in the hotel the evening before, to the wedding ceremony and reception in the Mountain Mist Tent, the private Cocktail Hour for the wedding party in a yurt nearby, late night pizza for the heavy party-goers, to the newlyweds having a complimentary room at the hotel the night of the wedding. It was all in ONE location, which is what I was looking for. All we had to do at the venue was decorate...no set-up, tear down, trash collection, having to bring in our own alcohol, NONE OF THAT (which is what many of the other local venues were expecting you to do). It was all included! I'd recommend this venue to anyone who is looking for a beautiful setting with wonderful people to work with! -

Bethany Sent on 08/09/2010Wisp Resort is an absolutely stunning location. We had a mountaintop ceremony overlooking the lake and valley below, and the views were breathtaking. Wisp also was a great value for the location, much more reasonably priced than other "destination" locations. The food was excellent, as were the staff, and our wedding planner Carrie took care of EVERYTHING. She was extremely helpful and was always willing to answer any questions we had. I was very impressed by the Wisp Resort, and so were our guests. Thanks for everything! -

We had our ceremony under the pavilion on top the mountain in the middle of June, which was simple and beautiful with the natural surroundings. The reception was back down at the mountain mist tent, by the lodge, which was very convenient for our guests staying at the lodge. The food was delicious and everyone was so helpful and professional and the team worked with us to make sure we had exactly what we wanted to make it the wedding we wanted! I would recommend Wisp Resort to future couples!

We had our wedding ceremony atop Wisp's breathtaking mountaintop site on 7/2/21. The view was absolutely BREATHTAKING and our guests could not stop talking about its beauty! Marlena and Lisa helped to coordinate the ins and outs of ceremony planning, and they were both extremely helpful and professional throughout the entire process. There were a few instances of miscommunication between Wisp's staff (mainly about chairs needed for the ceremony), but all issues were easily resolved, resulting in the day running very smoothly. Overall, I'd recommend using Wisp resort (and especially the mountaintop site) as an awesome place to host your wedding ceremony. -

Timeless wedding!
My wedding at Wisp was amazing! The ceremony was breathtaking at the Whitewater Pavilion. It was an unforgettable scene and made for some amazing pictures. The Mountain Mist tent was the perfect canvas to make our reception exactly what we wanted. Our guests raved about the food! The wisp team was so accommodating with all our request in the planning process. I’m so glad we made the decision to have our wedding there. -

Danielle Sent on 08/15/2012My husband and I were looking for a place in the Deep Creek Lake area to get married, and we just fell in love with Wisp’s mountain top ceremony location. So, we booked with Wisp!
I do have to share that the first month into our booking at Wisp, the staff was short a wedding coordinator. With that said, we had a frustrating time getting answers to our questions in a timely manner, among a few other things. We also did not receive the best response from management when we reached out to them to discuss our frustration.
HOWEVER, even though we did not have a great experience at the beginning of the process, everything completely turned around when they hired their Wedding Coordinator, Andrea! Andrea is just fabulous. She is friendly, has excellent customer service skills, is organized, responsive, and even offers thoughtful suggestions! It was great working with her. My husband and I both felt confident that our big day would go smoothly with Andrea coordinating everything. And it did!
Our wedding day was even better than we could have imagined. The mountain top ceremony location was beautiful – all of our guests couldn’t stop talking about the great views. The reception was fantastic as well. Everyone said that their entrees were delicious, and it seemed as though everyone had a great time!
My husband and I both agree that our wedding day was the best day of our lives, and we owe much of that to Wisp and to Andrea for helping everything to go as planned. Several people told us it was the best wedding they had been to. Thank you, Andrea, and thank you, Wisp!
We would highly recommend Wisp if you are looking to have a wedding in the Deep Creek Lake, MD area – we live 3 hours away, but we love the Deep Creek area and found it was a great location for our guests to travel. Many of our guests enjoyed the amenities at Wisp (like the mountain coaster) and Deep Creek during their stay. 5 stars for Wisp!

Jackie Sent on 04/21/2018We got married at Wisp in June 2017. Our ceremony was on top of the mountain under the pavilion which was beautiful. We had a very large guest list and the space in the Mountain Mist tent was perfect to hold everyone for the reception. We were running behind schedule (our fault not the venue) and they did a great job helping to get us back on track. The tent was beautiful and it really helped being able to come in the day before to set up. The banquet coordinator was very accommodating and helped us to achieve the set up we were going for inside. All staff used for the event were great!. The only reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 is because there were a few incidents of things that were not completely communicated with us. But over all we are very happy with our decision and would chose Wisp again and again if given the chance!

Chelsea Sent on 08/20/2014We had Andrea from the Wisp help us, she was GREAT. She knows her stuff and overall did a good job. The food was AWESOME, everyone talked about how good it was. A few negatives, we were suppossed to have wedding tent until midnight, they staff started tearing down at 10:30. They ran out of miller lite with an hour to go and go rude with me when I told them to get more. Cocktail hour was not great because they were supposed to have an outdoor bar and did not. Ceremony was GREAT, it went smoothly. Overall I would have the wedding there again.
