Terrific Experience

Shelly is a joy to work with - very professional and responsive. She was available during the preparation and planning stages of the wedding. When there was the possibility of rain, Shelly spent time scouting out alternative options. Fortunately the weather cooperated and the pictures from my daughter’s wedding were absolutely beautiful. Shelly knows well how to use ambient lighting and backdrop to frame beautiful portraits. She’s quite creative with getting great poses as well. The picture quality was so outstanding it was difficult choosing pictures for prints and enlargements because they all came out so well. I highly recommend Shelly Vinson to anyone looking for a professional photographer!

Shelly is absolutely amazing! She was responsive since Day 1 and provided the best service that I could possible imagine to me and my fiance for our engagement photos last month. We are the most awkward couple in front of the camera, and she made us both feel very comfortable! Not only that, but the pictures turned out amazing. If I could use her for my wedding, I absolutely would. You cannot go wrong with her :)

Working with Shelly was an absolute blessing! We did our engagement photos as well as wedding day photos with her. All of the engagement photos turned out amazing. It was VERY hot that day - so she even suggested we could do another session if we weren't happy with the pictures. But the photos were great!! We were pretty crammed for time the day of the wedding, but she was very patient with the wedding party (especially the groomsmen. again, so sorry about them!). I can't wait to see the rest of the wedding photos!! I know they will be just stunning.
Thanks again for your awesomeness, Shelly. We will definitely reach out to you for any future photography needs! And recommend you to ALL of our friends. Thanks!!!!

We love Shelly's work! My mother-in-law surprised us by having Shelly shooting our small ceremony. Thinking back, we are so grateful that she did it. Shelly did a great job documenting each moment of our intimate wedding. She was able to capture the raw emotions of us and our immediate family without getting in the way. She gave us ideas for poses, and also let us be ourselves. The pictures turned out beautifully, and we can't stop looking at them. Thank you Shelly for your talent, and we enjoy working with you!

We’ve used Vinson Photography for both family photos and our engagement and wedding photos. Shelly is so accommodating to what we wanted and gave good advice according to the time of day we were having our wedding ceremony where day light was at a premium. I even forgot to tell Shelly about some super secret fireworks and she rushed to get the best shots of this amazing moment during our reception. We were thrilled with our photos that captured just the “Best Day” of our lives. *Will add photos

I think people should know that Shelly was truly amazing. She went above and beyond what we expected. She captured the wedding perfectly and more than exceeding our expectations. Hire this person now! She is worth EVERY penny! I feel so fortunate to have had such a wonderful experience with our photographer. She exceeded every expectation. My now wife met Shelly at work, with perfect timing in regards to our wedding, and treated us like we were her favorite people. Even after her time commitment was finished, she stuck around and caught some great moments at the end if the reception.

Shelly was amazing. She was easy to communicate with and always got back to us very quickly with any questions we had. We had so much fun with her on our engagement shoot and she was so wonderful on our wedding day. She made sure we took all of the photos we had previously said we wanted. She made everyone feel comfortable and we had numerous people tell us how nice and friendly she was. When we got our photos back we were amazed. They were absolutely beautiful and we were able to look back on our big day and relive all of the special moments. we received all of the photos of our wedding in black and white but also color. They were edited beautifully and organized very well. We could not be happier.

Shelly was absolutely amazing! She was so professional and worked with us to capture our special day. Her creative ideas, unique angles, attention to detail and critical eye for getting the perfect shot or sequence of shots enabled her to highlight and preserve the key moments of our wedding day. She took those personal shots (that I was unable to see) as my bride got ready with her mother and friends and captured the 'reveal' and my reaction when I first saw my bride to be as well as countless incredible shots from our wedding and reception. She kept a calm disposition and was incredibly efficient on what can be a very stressful day. She seemed to be everywhere based on the pictures we got yet I don't really remember seeing her because she was able to blend in so naturally. She had us make a list of everyone we wanted to get in our wedding pictures (family and friends alike) and we were able to get all of them included. She took that task and made our day so easy and worry free. When we got our wedding photos, my wife and I, our family and friends were in awe at the moments she was able to capture. We were so happy with Shelly and everything she did for us. Simply put, Shelly is a must for getting those memorable pics on your special day!

If you're searching for a truly talented, generous and thoughtful wedding photographer ... Look no more. Shelly has exceeded our wildest dreams in capturing both our welcome party and wedding prep/ceremony/reception and everything in between. She is the epitome of professional and such a kind, gentle and hard-working person. We knew the minute we met her in SB she was the one. Shelly captured thousands of special, priceless moments and did it with ease. She is so easygoing and wonderful to work with. I can't say enough positive things; our experience was top notch. She has a genuine, kind-hearted and honest way of doing business, she's 100% accessible while wedding planning and has an enormous desire to please her clients. Her turnaround time for photos was fantastic (considering there were 1000s!!). Our finished products are out of this world. Shelly is over the top amazing!!!

Shelly is absolutely fabulous to work with! She is easy-going and comfortable to be around, which made this experience fun and enjoyable for two people who are so camera-shy. Shelly was prompt and easy to communicate with as well. We had some extra weather challenges on our wedding day, but she worked with it like a true professional and everything came out perfect! We also have a huge family and her ability to wrangle them and get some really awesome family shots was truly commendable. We couldn't be happier with our photographs and the packages she puts together at the end are just so thoughtful and beautiful! We were so happy to have her be a part of our special day!

We were planning our wedding in Ca. while living in Va. Shelly came highly recommended from a friend/bridemaid who lives in Santa Barbara. After the first email I was sold. I waited to hear from other photographers for a day but no one was as receptive, prompt or excited about our wedding as Shelly was. She got back to me within hours of my initial email and continued to be very prompt with all communications including email, texts and phone calls. I was able to meet with her when in california for thanksgiving. I ended up at the wrong coffee shop and Shelly was completely laid back about my mistake and waited for me to get to her. Her package includes an engagement session, because we live on the other side of the country my husband wasn't able to get to Santa Barbara before so we scheduled this a few days before the wedding for some fun photos and to make him comfortable with Shelly. She put him at ease immediately. A normally fairly quiet guy when he's first meeting someone she had him talking and laughing quickly. The day of our wedding it started raining in the morning and just didn't stop…. Shelly and her assistant took it all in stride. They quickly procured lots of umbrellas from the hotel and revamped our plans for where to take photos. The groomsmen took off after the ceremony to get out of the rain and Shelly quickly came up with a backup plan for taking those photos at our reception site. By the end of the day Shelly and her assistant were drenched but still smiling and helping to keep the wedding party laughing while taking pictures in the rain. The photos aren't ready yet but I have not doubt they will be wonderful. I've had photos taken with a few other photographers and Shelly was by far the most energetic, happy and easy going photographer I've ever worked with.

Shelly was simply wonderful! First of all, she was so thoughtful throughout the whole process, reminding me of all the options I had before the wedding, and On The day of. She was fully present when we needed her to be, and blended in the crowd so we could get lost in The moment. We are SO happy with our pictures, they look natural and the lighting is beautiful. We are so glad we selected Shelly at Vinson Photography as our wedding day photographer. From the moment we first engaged emails I knew Shelly was someone I wanted to work with. We actually booked her while we were temporarily living in Australia. Shelly scheduled Skype dates at strange times just to accommodate our needs and so we could connect while across the world! If that's not great customer services, I don't know what is. Shelly does amazing work, she is personal, professional, sweet and passionate about photography. She captured so many beautiful candid moments at our wedding and I couldn't love our photos more! Her photography style is unique and fun, yet she still manages to capture the traditional portraits too. Shelly felt like a friend from the moment we first spoke and that is quality not many professional people have. Shelly's laid back personality it made it easy to work with her on our wedding day. It felt like she was a friend, just taking pictures of our special day. Since we live in San Jose and weren't familiar with many vendors in Santa Barbara, Shelly even went out of her way to suggest other vendors we could use in the area. Trust me when I say you should book Shelly! I researched numerous photographers in the area and none compared to her work and reasonable rates. To top it off Shelly sent a beautiful surprise care package after our wedding was over. I thought she was just mailing us the memory stick of 5,000+ pictures, which would have been amazing enough. However, she also included a handful of gorgeous frames with wedding pictures of my husband and I already in them as well as a large stack of printed photos! Shelly is the best! Do yourself and your wedding a favor and book her!

Working with Shelly Vinson for our wedding was beyond fantastic. We could not be more pleased with the entire experience. Shelly's pricing was extremely competitive, yet she continued to go above and beyond what was necessary. She is understanding of a tight budget. We highly recommend her and would use her again without a doubt! When we traveled up to Santa Barbara to make some wedding plans, Shelly invited us to an unscheduled engagement photo session at several different and beautiful spots in Santa Barbara. A few weeks later, while we were in the stress and panic of our wedding planning, we received a box with framed photographs from our engagement shoot. Just seeing those shots put us at ease that we were in the right hands for our wedding. When our wedding day arrived, Shelly performed her job masterfully, starting with the bride's wedding preparations all the way to the big send-off after the reception. Even though she does so many weddings each year, she still made us feel like our wedding was special to her and we felt as though she put in extra effort and care to help make our day so magical. Many of the photos were tricky, as our ceremony location (the Santa Barbara Courthouse Mural Room) has dim lighting. But the photos turned out magnificently. Shelly was beyond accommodating and the results of her work were absolutely perfect. Because of her excellent work, we have been able to fill our home and our families' homes with beautiful pictures of our wedding day. She also did a great job capturing all of the details, which makes for an excellent scrapbook. Do not hesitate to hire her. Shelly is amazing and a true professional!!

Where do we even begin?! My husband and I had a *very* mediocre experience with our first engagement photographer and, after being pretty disappointed with our resulting photos, we committed to finding the BEST for our actual wedding. We found it with Shelley - not only is she incredibly talented, generous with her time (seriously - I think she stayed until the very end of our wedding!), responsive and professional but she is also SUPER FUN. I can be a little self-conscious having my photo taken and Shelley made me feel incredibly comfortable. She is by far our favorite wedding vendor and we can't wait to have her do our family portraits (someday) :) You are in the BEST HANDS with Shelley and we couldn't recommend her more highly.

Shelly was wonderful to work with! She took time answering all of our questions before the wedding and was willing to switch our engagement shoot to a family shoot held the day before the wedding. On our wedding day, she and her assistant were professional and got all of the shots done quickly so everyone could enjoy the event. And the pictures turned out fabulous! I highly recommend Shelly.

To sum it up Shelly is AMAAAZING. My husband and I are so grateful to have found her on wedding wire. She shot our engagement and wedding photos. My family and friends always rave about the quality of our photos. My husband and I were nervous at first because we didn't really know how to act while someone just stood there taking photos but Shelly made us feel comfortable instantly. We enjoyed goofing around, playing with ideas, and honestly we just had so much fun. Shelly puts so much love and passion into what she does and you can just tell by the quality of work she produces. We were so blessed to have found Shelly to be our photographer for our important occasion. When I first spoke to Shelly over the phone she felt so genuine and personable but more importantly, she took so much of her time hammering out all the little details and helping us wrap our head around the whole process of wedding planning and getting the best results in our photography. She was so helpful and always got back to us right away for any questions or concerns we had. She was so flexible and helped cater our needs and wishes to her packages and I knew right away that we were not going to regret hiring her. My husband and I met Shelly for the first time in Santa Barbara for our engagement session and she was so awesome! She would guide us in little ways to get some shots, but mostly just let us be us, and we felt comfortable to do just that. When we received the photos back we were so impressed by her organic shots and the colors were so vivid. Everything turned out so beautifully and when the big day for the wedding came, Shelly didn't skip a beat.
