A must for gluten-free couples!

Above & beyond service + amazing flavors!
We were so glad we were able to use Vanilla Bake Shop for our wedding cake and cupcakes! My family (bride) has been going to VBS since I was a little girl, but when we decided to get married 4 hours away, I thought I'd have to give up my long-standing dream of having them cater my wedding. However, we were fortunate to find a wedding planner who was willing to drive our order up the night before, and VBS went above and beyond to help us with our order as well as package it up and load it extra securely to make sure it made it to us in great shape! Our cake and cupcakes were SO GOOD, and the whole process was easy and fun. We did a take-home tasting due to COVID, and suddenly my fiance realized just how DELICIOUS their baked goods are and understood why I couldn't settle for a bakery any closer. After our tasting the girls helped us decide which flavors to go with, how many of each to order, and helped us design our cake. Everything turned out perfect and we were so impressed with everyone's willingness to go the extra mile to make sure our event was a success! Thank you VBS Santa Monica, you're the best!

A Unicorn Wedding cake.
I worked with Kim P. Initially and the she went on maternity leave and i worked with Amy. They were both great!!! I was able to easily change my order to adjust for the changes in guest list due to covid. They came and set up my dessert table at my home. I had a 3 tiered cake with different flavors, triple berry tarts, banana pudding shooters, and doughnuts. One layer of our cake was a little dry, but the bottom layer was amazing even second day!

Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica was completely awesome. We chose them for our wedding and we have no regrets whatsoever! Firstly, their tasting experience was delightful. We initially went to a competitor that was disappointing. Vanilla Bake Shop was just the opposite – Yuko was super personable and nice, she thoroughly went through all our options, the tasting was complimentary, and their cakes were OMG delicious! We chose them right on the spot to do our wedding cake! Our choice was the Black & White Raspberry with Cream Cheese and Dark Chocolate… so freakin’ good! On the day of the wedding, their delivery was on point and the cake turned out exactly as promised – it was both beautiful and delicious! Our guests could not stop commenting on how delicious the cake was! We are so happy we selected Vanilla Bake Shop to do our wedding cake and would totally recommend them!

Delicious cakes – we used Vanilla Bake Shop for our wedding cake and received so many compliments! People said this was the best wedding cake they’ve had. Vanilla Bake Shop even put a gluten free cake as the top tier of our 3 tier cake as I am gluten free so we could do the cake cutting on the actual day of the wedding. Definitely recommend this bakery!

Super high marks for Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica. We couldn’t have been happier with our wedding cake.
First of all, we really enjoyed our tasting session with Yuko, who prepared our custom wedding cake design for review and approval. Yuko’s attention to detail was on point! She explained all of our options and answered all of our questions.
We also loved trying all the different cakes – so we were sure our guests were getting exactly what we envisioned.
On our wedding night the cake arrived beautifully decorated and exactly as advertised. It was just what we wanted. And of course the guests loved it and kept eating more!
If you want your guests to rave about your wedding cake for days after the wedding, order your cake from Vanilla Bake Shop in Santa Monica.
Personally, we recommend the Fleur de Sel chocolate. Really, really unbelievable!

Best wedding decision
I highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop. It was one of our best wedding decisions. We had a simple one tier cake - and the cake was AMAZING- delicious, beautiful, simply incredible. It truly helped to make our day perfect. Vanilla bake shop was great to work with and was priced very fairly. Without question, we will be using Vanilla bake shop for any future events.

Delicious Wedding Cake!
By far one of the best cakes (not just wedding cake) I have ever had. Vanilla Bake Shop provided us with a complimentary tasting where each flavor was better than the next. Ultimately we went with the Red Velvet Swirl and Fleur De Sel which were both huge hits with our guests. The only downside was the cake was delivered on a cake board that was larger than what had been communicated to us which did not allow us to use the cake stand we had purchased separately. However, the cake was so good we couldn't not give 5 stars.

Looking through the cakes, they were all beautiful, but we had a very special request. We wanted pandan flavor!
Pandan is that floral/vanilla like flavor thats unique to Southeast asia. It's that green cake that you sometimes see in Asia. My wife and I love all things pandan.

Vanilla Bake Shop was wonderful. Yuko, sketched the exact cake I described as I was sitting across from her at our first consultation. The cake wasn’t just beautiful but the cake was delicious too, lots of flavor options to select from and since we did multi layer we were able to mix it up so that we got some of everything. Cake was delivered beautifully. They made it the perfect sweet ending to our beautiful beginning.

We visited A LOT of bake shops when trying to choose the perfect one for our wedding cake but none came close to Vanilla Bake Shop. Yuko, our cake designer, was a godsend. She was the only person we spoke with who was open to letting us bounce ideas off her offering her honest opinion in the process. Literally everywhere else we went, we met bakers who just wanted a picture from Pinterest to replicate. She made this entire process fun and easy and we are so thankful for her. Our actual wedding cake exceeded expectations. It looked and tasted amazing. We had Coconut, Red Velvet, and Dulce de Leche layers and they all tasted out of this world. Highly recommend!

We hired Vanilla Bake Shop to provide the dessert at our wedding this past fall. We are so happy we did!!
We wanted to do a dessert bar with a variety of mini desserts in lieu of a cake, and VBS executed our vision beautifully. Working with Yuko, we settled on a spread that would surely satisfy any palate, and she even suggested certain desserts to fit our color scheme. This included various flavors of the cupcake babies, french macarons, icebox dessert shots, tarts, and cake pops. The result was beautiful *and* yummy! In fact, we still have guests talking about how good the desserts were at our wedding all these months later.
If you are looking for a dessert vendor for your vendor, I highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop!

My husband and I could not have been happier at how our 'woodland' themed dessert table and wedding cake turned out. To this day, we receive compliments on how delicious and truly beautiful everything was. Our desserts pretty much "stole the show" at our reception! If you are planning a wedding, you need a cake by Yuko! She was inviting and personable. Yuko took time to really get to know what we wanted and made sure we were happy the whole way through. The cake she made for us was lovely and exactly what we asked for. She also provided a dessert table that everyone loved. Her team set up the desserts and gave us the boxes at the end for us to take home any extras (there weren't many). We can't wait to eat our top tier for our one year anniversary!

Absolutely loved our experience working with Yuko Ebina at Vanilla Bake Shop! I have a gluten allergy, and Yuko was so helpful in finding us a gluten-free cake we liked. The tasting was fantastic, and Yuko was very accommodating with the style we wanted (and us changing our mind after the fact). They were also flexible in letting our florist decorate the cake. We have received so many compliments from our guests that it was the best cake they've ever had, wedding or no wedding. It may not be cheap, but it's worth every penny, and we would highly recommend!!

We first met Yuko when we asked her to design our wedding cake. She created the most beautiful cake that incorporated the details of my Catholic wedding dress and my Indian wedding saree. The details on the cake looked just like the fabric itself and it was topped with beautiful roses as well. Not only that, all the flavors were so delicious! Even one year later when we defrosted the top red velvet layer, it still looked and tasted amazing!! We also had Yuko create birthday cakes for our dads when they celebrated their 70th and 60th birthdays the day before our wedding. She managed to capture their life experiences and memories on those cakes in the most beautiful and fun way possible! Most recently, we had Yuko make a baby shower cake for us. She made the most adorable teddy bear figures, that even had intricate stitching details on them! Every detail on every cake has been phenomenal! We cannot say enough to adequately praise Vanilla Bake Shop and Yuko! They really have been such a huge part of the special milestones and events in our lives!

Yuko and the team at Vanilla Bake shop did a great job preparing our wedding cake. Florist decorated the cake with flowers and it looked exactly like in the picture. And tasted great which is as important.
It was easy to communicate with Yuko by email, Yuko suggested making the cake half&half: three tier cake with two different flavors to accommodate gluten free option. She also recommended the best flavor out of the ones I picked (yes, they have lots of great flavors to choose from!).
Our wedding cake looked very festive and tasted amazing too! Very happy and satisfied with the result.

I can't even begin to describe the happiness Yuko and Vanilla Bake Shop brought us on our wedding day. But I'll try...
I've been a fan of VBS cupcakes for a while. I'm a simple girl, always vanilla for me so you really have to impress me with your ability to create an amazing vanilla flavored creation and VBS always seems to do it. My fiancé (now husband) however likes a little more "spice" in his sweets: fillings, fruit, etc. So when it was time to look for a wedding cake we needed someone that could make an amazingly delicious cake with fresh fruit in it without it being overwhelming. We visited bakeries near and far but we couldn't get VBS out of our heads, their Strawberries and Cream cake to be exact. The best way to describe this cake? Heaven. It tasted like you were walking on a strawberry filled fluff cloud. Amazing. And why stop there? We also ordered a variety of desserts: cupcakes, tarts, dessert shots.
On the day of the wedding our cake and desserts looked amazing. Exactly how we imagined everything would look. Our vision was perfectly executed by Yuko and her team. Guests devoured everything and we couldn't have been any happier.

Everyone loved it so much that most people had seconds. It's a good thing we ordered extra. This vendor is also very easy to deal with. We used VBS for our dessert bar and absolutely loved them! Yuko was wonderful to work with and everything was delicious (even the leftovers in our freezer are fantastic!) She customized our desserts to go with our colors perfectly and everything was a perfect balance of tasty elegance.
We provided our own trays & platters and had our wedding coordinator set up the design. It was a great way to keep this within our budget and still get everything we wanted.

Having been a huge fan of Vanilla Bake Shop for years (i live blocks away and can never resist walking in to get something as i walk by the shop), this was a no brainer choice for my wedding cake.
The process was so easy, they are at this point a well-oiled cake machine! I met with Kim, who sat with me for an hour doing cake tasting, discussing our colors, what design we like. I brought in pictures and ideas, so I didn't have to look through their thick folder of wedding cake pictures.
When discussing colors, Kim even pulled out a color booklet, to get the pantone color numbers right. She was super sweet about updating the shade of blue I needed on the cake. The actual cake itself was a two tier of chocolate with choco buttercream, and dark chocolate with salted caramel filling. So delicious- i wanted to keep the whole cake to myself!
This is one place i'll be relying on for a long time, for any cake needs. Everything they make is delicious, so head down to any of their shops in LA and grab a cupcake, a caramel bar (my fave!) or two.

Vanilla Bake Shop was the preferred cake vendor for our wedding venue (Terranea Resort) so that made our decision easier and we didn't have to pay a cake cutting fee. Our cake tasting there was sooo delicious and we loved the two flavors we picked for our wedding cake (red velvet and 7-layer milk & dark chocolate)! Yuko from the Santa Monica location was great to work with and we loved the design of our cake.

We used Vanilla Bake Shop for our wedding cake on 8/30/14. They did not disappoint. We brought some inspiration photos to our first meeting and they were able to transform our ideas into a beautiful cake. (Almost too beautiful to eat!) All of their flavors were so delicious! We went with the triple berry cream and chocolate truffle for our cake. The wedding cake was just as delicious and moist as the cake in our tasting. Yuko was available to answer all of our questions and was a true pleasure to work with. We would certainly recommend VBS for anyone's dessert needs and plan on using them in the future!

It was a pleasure to work with Kim Robinson at Vanilla Bake Shop. We had our wedding at the Fairmont and were able to select a couple partner vendors to make our wedding cake. Our tasting was very enjoyable and of course delicious! Kim was more than willing to help us customize our cake and select 2 different flavors. She worked with me on the design and was very flexible with my requests for sizing, shapes and monograms. The cake was not only DELICIOUS (not just said by me, but my many of our 250 guests) but it was also absolutely beautiful. A big thank you to Kim and her team for making us a wedding cake to remember!

Thanks to amazing Yuko and her team, the best wedding cake I've ever had ended up being our own! She also worked with us on the challenges of keeping the cake outdoors by the beach, carving our own cake stand, and allergies. Vanilla was by far the freshest and highest quality of the bakeshops we tasted, and the fleur de del, spicy carrot, and triple berry flavors we went with were out of this world. Worth the price. Vanilla Bake Shop will always be special, thank you!

Delicious, gorgeous and elegant are the first words that come to mind! This bake shop is actually down the street from my house and one of our favorites in general so my husband and I were super excited to hear that Terranea uses them as their recommended cake vendor. Yuko and her bakers created an absolutely gorgeous and delicious desert table for our wedding reception. The macaroons were to die for! Our wedding cake was simple and stunning, we were asked to provide some trim for the cake as our design included feathers and rhinestones. I just went to Michael's and bought what I could find and Yuko's design looked amazing all said and done. Although Vanilla Bake Shop was nothing new to us we will definitely be back!

Yuko was extremely helpful at Vanilla Bake Shop, and we ended up with an amazing wedding cake that our guests were talking about even days later! We went to a tasting and were very impressed with all of the amazing cake variations, they all tasted so good! What mattered to us most was the taste and quality of the cake, and we were totally amazed with how well it turned out, and of course it also looked great!

Yuko was really easy to work with and responsive to emails. The cake that she made that day was more beautiful than the one she had sketched and I was shocked when I saw it. We did a 3-tier cake with a different flavor each level - carrot, flor de sol (I think thats what its called, some chocolatey carmel deliciousness), and red velvet. It was DELICIOUS. I can't believe how delicious that cake was. We did extra sheet cake so there would be enough for my guests and I got to take home the top layer and freeze it for our anniversary. Can't wait to eat it again!

Our cake and dessert table was everything we hoped for. Our only regret is not ordering more desserts because our guests cleared out our dessert buffet in a blink of an eye! The cake itself was even more delicious than I remembered from our tasting. Yuko was very professional, friendly, responsive, and a pleasure to work with.

Working with Yuko at the Vanilla Bake Shop was a true pleasure.
What you want in a vendor, ultimately, is somebody who is extremely organized, a good communicator, courteous, and produces a high-quality product. You want the sense to be conveyed that she is trustworthy and competent. That sums up Yuko in a nutshell.
From the very first emails (which she responded to immediately, by the way), she was impressive. From the cupcake tasting itself, I knew it would be a successful partnership, and my wedding guests would be treated to delicious cupcakes that looked beautiful, to boot. The bill payments were organized and easy to make. Never did I have to worry about any detail being lost in the mix. They were flexible and detail-oriented throughout.
On the day of my wedding, we received so many compliments about the cupcakes. I would welcome the opportunity to work with them on any other event in the future!

Great cake!! Yuko helped us pick a style we liked and matched our colors perfectly. The Dulce de Leche cake was so yummy and the cake was absolutely adorable. We coupled a small wedding cake with tons of baby cupcakes and two additional round cakes. You probably only need to order 1/2 to 2/3 or the recommended servings. We had tons left over, but it was absolutely delicious.

Yuko, the cake designer we worked with, is amazingly talented. Our cake was absolutely gorgeous and was even better in person than the beautiful drawing that Yuko provided after the tasting. We got tons of compliments not only on how pretty the cake was but also on how delicious it tasted. We apparently had issues with guests moving to different tables so that they could get two pieces of cakes-it was that good! We had two flavors-berry short cake and fleur de sel. Both were fabulous. We had planned on freezing our top layer of cake, but wound up eating it the next day because it was so yummy. I highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop.

Got referred to this Bakery through my venue, they indicated them as prime vendors. Other than going to the tasting and pick the cake I wanted I barely had to do anything. Bakery and venue people work together on confirming details of delivery together, saving a bunch of headache for me. My florist delivered some flowers to them and they just decorated my cake at the venue. Easy, simple, no pain and it looked beautiful. Also it was delicious, they have a great selection of wedding cakes and they are also open to come up with solutions that fits best to your budget. Most of their cakes are fairly complex but if you want to save money just ask to simplify either the decor or the cake itself and they work with you till they make you happy.

I contacted Yuko, the wedding and events liason, a little over two months before my wedding only to learn I should have contacted her a lot earlier!!! OOPS! Yuko was so accomodating, despite their busy schedule, and fit us into her calendar for a quick appointment to discuss our wedding cake design! She managed to schedule us AFTER HOURS just so we could meet with her!! she was such a sweetheart!!
We had a variety of designs to choose from or create our own, but I found one of her sample designs and made my own personal twist to it, which fit perfectly! The samples were, delicious of course!!
we ended up choosing two different flavors for different tiers, strawberries & cream and dark chocolate (YUM)!!
Yuko then communicated with my wedding coordinator regarding delivery time and everything went smoothly on my wedding day! The cake was scrumptious!!! I would definitely go with them again!

I would highly recommend Vanilla Bake Shop for your wedding! They were one of several bakeries I could choose from as part of a wedding package at Shutters on the Beach. For starters, I was impressed with the bakery's customer service and organization. My husband and I were not able to schedule a proper time to come in for a tasting, and the owner graciously prepared a to-go tasting package that we could enjoy together at home. After the tasting, I scheduled time to meet with Kim, the cake designer, and brought my mom and MIL along to join. Kim was very patient with all the ideas the 3 of us presented and came up with a beautiful design. I was very happy when I saw the cake on my wedding day - it was just like she had drawn out for me a month earlier and it was beautiful! Great job VBS!!

I love Vanilla Bake Shop! First, their cupcakes, cakes, cake lollipops, dessert shots are so yummy. Second, I can't say enough about how patient and helpful Yuko was. She helped me put together my dessert table and when I freaked out about how big this one apothecary jar was she calmed me down. When I changed my cake she was accommodating.

If you are looking for a gorgeous cake that not only looks amazing, but tastes amazing too... you have found your bakery here!
Yuko at Vanilla Bake Shop did a fantastic job of designing a cake that captured the spirit of my fiance (now husband) and I. We had found these cute cake toppers on an etsy.com shop that we had fallen in love with... Yuko actually wound up designing the style of the cake around the design of these cake toppers and what we wound up with was exactly what we'd hoped for!
The best part of all is that the cakes at VBS truly taste AMAZING!!! We opted for 2 different flavors between the 4 tiers of our cake: white cake with fresh cream and berries with a buttercream frosting AND banana chocolate chip with a cream cheese frosting. Our guests were RAVING over the flavors and design of the cake. Most wound up splitting theirs with friends so that they could try both flavors of the cake;)
Definitely head on over to VBS for your tasting!

The cupcakes speak for themselves. We're big foodies and we used Vanilla Bake Shop to do a dessert table with cupcakes, tarts, cake pops, macaroons and a little two tiered cake. Everything was delicious! We did a tasting here and at another leading wedding bakery in the area and really felt like not only was it no competition in terms of taste, but the prices ended up being significantly cheaper. We were very happy with the results and still go there regularly just to eat cupcakes :)

My wedding cake was so beautiful and delicious! I brought it my design idea and they did an amazing job bringing it to life. The cake itself was just YUM! It was moist and incredible and the frosting wasn't too sugary. When we initially had our tasting at VBS I was so impressed with the treatment we received. They were the only shop that offered us milk and coffee (instead of just water) when we arrived. I was a little nervous that their prices would be outrageous because every cake I saw was more beautiful than the next and everything we tasted was amazing. I was SO pleasantly surprised when the cake came in under budget! Thank you VBS! I would highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for an amazingly delicious cake that also happens to be perfectly gorgeous and affordable. I am truly impressed. We saved the cake top for our first anniversary and I am REALLY looking forward to eating it. Although, I have to admit I will probably be stopping by the store to pick up more goodies well before then!!!

We were impressed from the moment we met at the tasting. We dropped in with out and appointment and they had all the cakes we wanted to taste ready within a few moments. We provided a vague idea of what we wanted the cake to look like and they created a beautiful cake. It was delicious a moist and we LOVED it. They also let us choose multiple flavors and they used butter cream instead of fondant which was REALLY important to us. The cake looked so beautiful.

VBS was able to create a cake from a photograph that I found to suit my wedding theme. They didn't make me choose something from their list of previously made cake designs. The cake was beautiful and was absolutely delicious. They use the best ingredients. They are easy going and very helpful. My cake was one of the most gorgeous parts of the wedding! I was absolutely in love with it that even my husband did not want to cut into it when it was time to cut the cake. It was absolutely breathtaking!!
Amy is a true artist! She created a 6 tier pale pink cake, with diamond and black satin trim to match the wedding perfectly. She followed every detail I gave her to a T!! It was a classy, beautiful understated cake just like its creator! Amy was attentive and fantastic during our tasting and choosing of the cake. She made it so fun and simple - it was the easiest thing I had to do for the wedding!
I even ordered the dessert shots and had them served with each slice of cake and it was such a hit!! Everyone was talking about the cake and dessert shots! I was happy that it didn't just look gorgeous but tasted heavenly too! I truly recommend this bakery to any bride! Thank you so much Vanilla Bake Shop!!!!

VBS was willing to work within my budget for a smaller cake. We had 220 guests and ordered a 3 tiered cake from VBS for picture purposes and 200 red velvet cupcakes from our caterer.

We had a three tier cake that was flawless, beautiful, and delicious. Our cake was modern design with orchids adorned on it by our florist. The flavors were Vanilla Lemon Berry (my favorite!), Southern Dark Chocolate Banana Pudding, and Red Velvet.

I've been consuming Vanilla Bake Shop mini cupcakes for as long as they've been open (I wish they had a frequent cupcake-eater card) and I couldn't imagine having any other bakery provide these sweet treats for our wedding. My cupcake obsession was in full force for our wedding and manifested itself in the form of a cupcake tower composed of 2 of my most favorite cupcake flavors: luscious strawberries and cream with vanilla bean cupcake and the divine fleur de sel caramel. The tower was topped off with a square strawberries and cream cake- decorated with fresh yellow billy button flowers and succulents for our southern California themed wedding. Our guests raved about the cupcakes and still do-almost a month later... I will forever ♥♥♥ VBS and will continue to look for opportunities to devour and share their sweet treats. Cheers to VBS for making 05.15.2010 the sweetest day ever!

Vanilla Bake Shop provided our wedding cake and cupcakes and it was delicious. People were eating two and three cupcakes and couldn't stop talking about how great they were. The cake was amazing, simple and beautiful. Thanks Amy! Can't wait to come in and have some cupcakes.

We went to Vanilla Bake Shop because one of our old friends from college used them for their wedding, and I was really impresses with the cake they had. Just like theirs, the cake we got was as good. Some of the designs they had at their shop were so creative I had a really hard time trying to find which one I would want. The cake we ended up getting was wonderful, and it tasted like heaven.

Vanilla Bake Shop's reputation lived up to all that I read...and MORE. Working with their team was so easy - I did everything over the phone and through e-mail. Our wedding cake was delivered on-time and exactly how we ordered it...it was perfect. All our guests said it was the best Southern red velvet cake they ever had. Three relatives called my mom after the wedding to find out the name and phone number of the bakery - they said they couldn't get the yummy cake out of their minds!

Our wedding cake was not only gorgeous, but delicious!! We had a three tier cake with three flavors. Some guests had three pieces, just so that they could try them all! Amy at Vanilla Bake Shop was helpful and responsive. A+!

Amy and Jeremy Berman (owners of Vanilla Bake Shop) are so great! They gave us exactly what we wanted, a gorgeous cupcake tower filled with delicious cupcakes! They were our favorite bakery prior to getting engaged, so there was no question we had to have them. I'm happy to call Amy a friend now and can't say enough about them. Would HIGHLY recommend!

Amy created a beautiful simple cake that fit perfectly with our theme. Although we were not having a large wedding (only 50 guests) and our budget was limited, she met with my daughter and future son-in-law and I on my only trip to Calif prior to the wedding day. Many bakeries will not schedule a "tasting" when the bride's budget is small. But Amy was accommodating from that initial meeting. A contract was quickly emailed and I never felt concerned or worried. I knew that the cake would be there on the wedding day and as beautiful and tasty as we imagined. We planned the entire wedding from reviews and websites so we never had the benefit of a personal recommendation, but I could not have been happier with the outcome. Thank you, thank you.

We decided for mini cupcakes instead of a traditional cake for our wedding. At a $1.50 each we ordered 200 which came out to $300.00. Half dark chocolate with coconut, and half keylime cupcakes. Your cupcake selection depends on what day your wedding falls on, but they're willing to work with you if you need some sort of special packaging or something.

WOW is all I can say! VBS is amazing! We ordered 300 mini cupcakes for our wedding and they were a HUGE hit! The flavors are amazing and they're so cute! VBS is very easy to work with and provides amazing quality! I would highly recommend them!

The Vanilla Bake Shop is my neighborhood cupcake fix. We walk by and grab these delicious treats regularly. There was no question that I wanted them for our wedding cake. I chose the passionfruit creme and it did not disappoint. Our cake was beautiful and delicious. It was moist and so yummy. I made sure I had some the next day and the next day after that.
Our choice to have fresh flowers accent the cake made it even more beautiful.

Loved, loved, loved this bakery. I really wanted to have cupcakes at my wedding and we searched quite a few locations until we came across this gem. The owner was lovely, giving us a break on the cost and really sitting down with us to help choose the best flavors we could have. The flavors were great - so fresh. The service was prompt and they had a beautiful presentation.
They stepped up to the plate when our reception site ruined many of the cupcakes - they baked a few new batches and re-delivered to our site so we can give out to our guests. You can't get more honorable than that.
We plan to get a fresh cake from them for our anniversary, as well as all the fun holidays in between now and then. Vanilla Bake Shop is the best place out there.

Amy was able to set up time to meet for the tasting. This shop is primarily a cupcake shop and that's what i had for my wedding cake, however, i also requested a small cake to cut as well. I had four flavors at my wedding, plus the cake. They were delicious! They were the talk to the whole event. She is located in santa monica, and i in orange county. it is a far drive, but well worh it. More economical than having a whole big stacked cake. We only had about 10 cupcakes left and we ordered about 120.

Such a great bakery, so happy I chose them for my wedding. I worked with Kim on planning everything and she was absolutely great. Always got back to me via email, helped me pick what would look best with my theme & worked with me for deliveries for the holiday. The cupcakes/cake tasted AMAZING. The guests loved them, and the whole display tower they provided & personalized for my day looked perfect.
A great little cupcake shop that is a must visit!!

Yuko from Vanilla Bake Shop on Wilshire is very friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We contacted them for a tasting and didn't really know much of what we wanted except the flavors we wanted to try. Yuko walked us through the process and showed us a giant binder of cake photos. She gave us plenty of time to ourselves to try the cake samples and go through the binder. We wanted to combine 2 different styles (flowers and scrollwork) and she assured us that it was not a problem. We also wanted to have a dark flavor and a light flavor and she was able to accommodate that as well. We ended up with red velvet on the bottom (for structural support) and vanilla with strawberries and cream for the upper layers. She even changed a tiny detail for us (color of beading between layers) as soon as I asked.
The cake was delivered on time and looked incredibly beautiful. The sugar flowers were perfectly executed and almost looked real. And it tasted great, all of our guests wanted to try both flavors! We couldn't have been happier. Thank you, Yuko and Vanilla Bake Shop!

We loved our vanilla bean/vanilla lemon berry tiered cake from Vanilla Bake Shop! Yuko is a pro--this was probably our easiest vendor for the whole wedding since they take care of everything and you don't have to manage it at all. The cake was beautiful and delicious.

Vanilla Bake Shop made a gorgeous and DELICIOUS wedding cake for my wedding. I was able to have three flavors and everyone would not stop talking about how good it tasted, which can be a rarity I've found for wedding cakes. I provided to them a pictures of what I was looking for and they were able to make it look exactly as I had envisioned. We are so grateful for the delivery too, particularly because it required transportation up a hairpin turn to the site! They worked with me cooperatively all through the process and were affordable for what you got. I'd highly recommend them to any future bride or for any event.

I'm a huge dessert fan, but not usually a wedding cake fan because they're usually uninspired, dried out and flavorless. When I was planning my wedding, I wasn't too excited about the cake. It seemed like such a small detail in a whole day of wedding festivities. But after my tasting with Yuko at Vanilla Bake Shop, I changed my mind! I loved every bite that I sampled (Vanilla Bean, Black and White Raspberry, Red Velvet, Chocolate Southern Banana Pudding, Strawberries and Cream, Triple Berry Cream and 7-Layer Chocolate Peanut Butter)! And it was a "love" on a scale that includes desserts at trendy restaurants, and not just in the wedding cake world. I was so blown away with the tasting and the discussion of what the cake would look like, that I couldn't stop talking about my cake to everyone - including my DJ (make sure you pin-spot this baby, it can't be left in the dark!), photographer (you have to get lots of shots of this cake!!) and all my guests on our wedding website!
It was a tough decision, but we ultimately went with the Strawberries and Cream and 7-Layer Chocolate Peanut Butter cakes. I was a bit nervous that the wedding cakes wouldn't live up the hype I created or taste like the samples, but they did!!! They were AMAZING!!! Super moist, flavorful and delicious!!
Side note: the samples we had at the tasting were not slices of the cakes, rather they were mini-cakes with the accompanying flavors and frosting on top. I wasn't sure the proportions would be right. I loved all the peanut butter frosting they put on the mini-cake, but what woudl it taste like when it was between all those layers of chocolate frosting? I didn't know. Proportion is key for me (I love York Peppermint Patties, but just regular size; the large one has too much mint and not enough chocolate - wrong proportions). Luckily, my worrying was for naught. The proportions were great!
And finally, the appearance of the cake. We didn't have a huge wedding, but I wanted a dramatic looking wedding cake, so they created some faux layers. I had asked other bakeries we were considering if they could do faux layers, and they would not.
In the end, I got the best wedding cake EVER in terms of look and taste!!! Thank you so much Vanilla Bake Shop!!!

Delicious cake!
We ordered a simple 2-tier cake with white buttercream frosting that we then decorated with our own florals just for the wedding party and families while the rest of the guests had an open dessert bar. VBS made the whole process very easy! The cakes at the tasting were all delicious and they provided exactly what we asked for and it was delivered on time.

Delicious and beautiful cake, great service!
My husband and I were married 2 months ago and we're still getting compliments our VBS wedding cake! Many guests said it was the best cake they'd ever had at a wedding. Macaroons were delicious as well. Yuko was wonderful and worked with us on our customization and had great suggestions. The gold brushing on the side was gorgeous. Delicious cake that went beyond my expectations - worth every penny!

We were extremely pleased with VBS. They exceeded our expectations. We ordered a dessert bar with a small cake. Yuko delivers nothing less than pure excellence. She is kind, professional, helpful and responsive~ making the planning process easy and fun. She responded to all our needs and questions and, assisted us with offering suggestions in cake design, decor, and dessert selection. We ordered 13 different desserts of mini-cupcakes, tarts, ice-boxed desserts, macaroons, bars, and cookies; and, each were decadently delicious, fresh and clean tasting (baking with only natural ingredients). Presentation was classy, clean, and artistic. Thank you, VBS!!! We will be hiring you for my baby-shower!
