Great Value and Great Service

I showed up to this shop randomly and quite late in the evening. I’m pretty sure we ended up staying past closing. The stylist was so wonderful to work with and he took his time explaining the fit of each dress. We had a great experience there, and found the perfect dress in pristine condition. I recommended this shop to all three of my friends who got engaged last year, and I’ll definitely recommend them again.

My Perfect Dress

I found my perfect dress here with the help of Rose! She made me feel comfortable trying on dresses and included both my mom and maid of honor in the process. The price felt like a great deal, especially for it being all lace!

Found the perfect dress!

Every girl envisions the perfect dress when they are little and I loved all of the dresses that Rose pull for me. I ended up going with one that I would’ve never thought would’ve been ‘me’ until I put it on and felt extremely beautiful in it. Rose and Jim are amazing and I recommend Sample Rack to any bride!!

The Perfect Dress

I ended up with a dress that was a different style than what I imagined, but once I put it on, I knew it was the one. I loved that I didn't feel pushed to select one style to shop from, and actually got to look at all of the options. I found other bridal salons to be a bit too much... The Sample Rack was the perfect vibe and I found the perfect dress.

Loved my Dress!

I loved my dress from The Sample Rack. When researching bridal shops to go to, Sample Rack peaked my interest. I liked the concept, and their place looked very professional. I am so glad I followed my instincts. Not only was my dress beautiful and fit me perfectly, I was able to take my dress home with my that day. My dress came under budget, which is always a plus!

Unexpected Surprise

Carlene is a saint. I can't say enough about her. She went out on a limb when I wasn't satisfied with the dresses I was trying & definitely made the right call. I couldn't stop thinking about the one she put me in. Ultimately it was the dress I chose & was a huge hit at the wedding!

After many visits to different bridal shops this place doesn't compare! They carry many top brands for 1/2 the price! When you enter you are the only client for that time, which is so wonderful. There focus is on finding YOU a dress and you alone! Charlene really listens to you, she only suggests things you can add or alter to make it the perfect dress your looking for! She doesn't push or pressure you to do anything you don't want (accessories etc.) unlike other shops. She also grabs dresses you don't really think would work but I ended up getting the one she picked out for me, I even got super emotional and cried! I tried on many dresses but it never seemed to resonate with me, but once I had that dress on I just knew that was it, no dress made me feel more like a beautiful bride than the one she picked out. The dress looks like a $3,000 dress and I still can't believe I only ended up paying $800 for a beautiful dreamy Ballgown! Charlene definitely knows her stuff! She's very receptive, responsive and professional. Her assistant was just as amazing and sweet! I'd definitely recommend all brides on a budget, or not, to visit this boutique! I'm so grateful that I did. Whether you buy a gown from here or not your experience here will be an amazing one!

I was on a tight schedule and my wedding was in 3 months so i had to go for sample dresses. i did try all bridal store in Center city but i finally brought my wedding dress from The Sample rack. It was an awesome dress. i was in love with it since the time i wore it. I am not a perfect size and have big chest. they had a dress that fit me perfectly i only had to get it altered and i got some bling added to my dress by adding thin rhinestone straps. everybody loved my dress and i have seen the same dress on SYTD. plus i do not have to break a bank for it.

Brides- this place is a MUST visit. I had been to a bridal chain store SEVEN TIMES before I decided to stop by this boutique, and my experience at those chain stores nearly brought me to tears. I am a curvy bride, and usually wear size 12-14 (meaning size 16-18 in this crazy bridal world). At these chain stores I visited prior, I was never brought anything that actually fit, or that made me feel beautiful. It seriously got to the point where I doubted I would find a dress that I liked, much less loved. From the first second I stepped into The Sample Rack today, I felt valued, beautiful, special and completely attended to. There were two wonderful women who devoted at least 90 minutes entirely to me, helping me find dresses that actually fit, and that were exactly the style that I wanted (vintage lace, made for curvy body types). Neither woman made me feel like a pariah or a burden for being over a size 10. I mentioned that I liked lace, and illusion necklines, and they brought me a handful of dresses that fit the bill almost exactly. I ended up buying a dress that was HALF the price of a similar dress at the chain store, and of a MUCH better quality. I cannot even begin to put into words what a better experience, and what better quality this store has to offer. Please, please, please make this a stop on your wedding prep. You will not regret it.

I had gone to 3 other shops before coming to the Sample Rack, as was recommended to me by them. They want to see pictures of what you like before you come there so they can show you similar dresses. I ended up finding one similar to one I had found elsewhere for half the price. However I was pretty set on having a deeper color and this came with a white slip. They were able to change the slip for a champagne colored one from a similar dress for me, essentially giving me a custom dress. They have good recommendations for tailors and other services as well.

After reading rave reviews for The Sample Rack, I called and scheduled an appointment with Carlene. She asked if I'd tried on dresses previously and advised me that if I found a dress I loved, I should purchase it today because it could be gone tomorrow, so to speak. Sample Rack was the last stop on my day of wedding shop appointments and boy did I save the best for last. I brought my mom and close friend along. Carlene recommended bringing a maximum of two people along since the shop is small. When we arrived, Carlene's wonderful assistants took care of us because Carlene was out sick. The shop is beautiful and caters to only one bride at a time (this ain't David's bridal ladies). We were treated with such respect, offering us water etc. They were so patient and even allowed my mom to help choose the gown (mom's choice was the gown I ended up purchasing). They worked to find a gorgeous dress within my price range that I'd love. No one said "oh you can always change this or that" as some other pushy shops did. They worked to find the dress I loved. I didn't want to take the gown off and became one of those weepy women from "Say Yes to the Dress" (don't judge me lol). I would absolutely recommend the Sample Rack for stunning and affordable designer gowns and the best service.

Shopping for my bridal gown was super overwhelming for me. I had my team of bridesmaid & momma in town to help me find The Dress. After many beautiful dresses, my brain got lost in the lace, pearl, sparkle, tulle, etc. I tried on this breathtaking Alvina Valenta dress, but thought it was outside of my price range due to the original store tag still on the dress. I left the store, but couldn’t stop thinking about the gown, so the wonderful staff at The Sample Rack allowed me to come back in as they were closing to try on the dress again. Needless to say, I said YES to the dress and purchased it for 50% less than the retail value. I am very thankful for the patience and kindness of everyone in the shop!

I bought a dress off the rack here after trying on 30+ dresses at 5 other stores in the Philly area. Their dresses are all samples so you buy what you try on. But unlike other samples at other stores, the dresses are all in excellent shape- no tears, stains, etc. The styles they get are also really varied. I was looking for something a little nontraditional and different and they had many choices. They prices are also great. I paid $600 for my dress that retailed for over double that. The customer service is great and the store is small and personal. Highly recommend

I cannot say enough good things about The Sample Rack! From my very first phone call with Carlene, I knew I was going to have an amazing experience here. On the phone, Carlene was so excited and made me feel like she really wanted to find me the perfect dress. I was put on a waiting list for a Saturday appointment, and a week later, Carlene called again to let me know that a space had opened up! When we showed up, I was surprised to find out that they only do 1 appointment at a time. This made me feel so special! The store is beautiful, and they have lots of absolutely gorgeous designer dresses. The dress Carlene told me about on the phone turned out to be THE PERFECT dress for me! I got a beautiful designer dress for less that half the price. I would not look anywhere else if you are in the Philadelphia area.

Amazing service and selection! I bought my beautiful gown from the Sample Rack and I continuously recommend the Sample Rack to other brides. Carlene and the other ladies were honest to me with feedback regarding how dresses looked on me and alternations. Thanks to the sample rack, I looked like a million bucks on my wedding day with a gown I loved from the day a tried it on to the day I walked down the aisle. Definitely make sure you've visited a few other stores first to know what style you are going for (or at least know what you don't want), that way the sample rack can be the last wedding gown shop you need to visit :)

I bought my wedding dress here and had a great experience. I had a private session during which I was the only person in the store trying on dresses. Went to pick out my dress on a Tuesday night back in December- they kept the store open for me and brought out tons of dresses which fit my style and price range. I followed their advice and had gone dress shopping at another store before hand so I knew what kind of dress/style I was looking for. My dress happened to be on display in their window and I instantly knew it was "the one" when I put it on. The Sample Rack is a magical place where you can make all of your bridal dreams come true even if you are on a budget!! My dress was absolutely stunning and I never could have afforded it at retail. All night long people were complimenting me on my dress and no one could believe I was lucky enough to score it as a sample!

Do your research before you go so you are ready to buy! Carlene is amazing and will find you the perfect dress for you even if it's totally different than what you thought you wanted when you first walked in! The shop is on the small side so this is not the place to bring your whole entourage but it's a beautiful intimate space to find your dream gown!

The day i bought my dress was the BEST/HAPPIEST day of my life. The team at The Sample Rack works with you and listens to what your dream is and helps make it a reality. From the first phone call- Charlene explained that if i was out shopping and saw something i liked to text her a picture because she could help find it, loved that!! That being said- if you aren't sure of the style of dress you want then id suggest looking around before coming to The Sample Rack because they really have something for everyone. It will be helpful to get a feel of what style you want before your appointment. They only take appointments which is very helpful- Charlene was very helpful, i had family in from out of town and really helped me find a time that would fit everyone's schedules. I ended up purchasing the first dress i tried on that day. They also respect your budget 100% which is so important!! I don’t normally have the time or the energy to review anything, but definitely pay attention to other peoples reviews. However, I felt I had to write a review of my fabulous experience at the Sample Rack! I was dreading the whole process of choosing a wedding dress and put it off as long as possible. I was worried that since I am not a size 4, I didn’t think I would be able to find a dress that I looked beautiful in for my special day. Turns out that I was completely wrong!! Carlene, Lindsey and Jim were absolutely wonderful, and the process was not only easy, but, to my surprise, totally enjoyable. There were no other brides there during my appointment, and I really appreciated the personal attention that I received. All of the dresses that they picked out for me were incredibly beautiful and flattering, and it was a tough decision, but it turned out that the one that I ultimately loved the most and purchased, was the first one that they gave me to try on…(and it was not something that I would have ever chosen for myself.) I am so grateful for all of their help, and my husband said I looked beautiful on our wedding day!

The Sample rack is the perfect place for budget-wary or "last-minute" brides to buy beautiful gowns from. From the start, Carlene was very helpful while making my appointment, giving me suggestions on how to prepare for it. When I got there, Lindsay was extremely welcoming and asked to see my pinterest to get an idea about dresses that I like. They found many gorgeous gowns for me to try on and during the process they gave me tips and advice about alterations. Lindsay, Jim, and Carlene were the perfect team the day I bought my wonderful wedding dress at The Sample Rack. It was my 6th stop, which was helpful, because I went in knowing exactly what I was looking for. My friends and mom were all allowed to scout the racks and pull dresses along with me which I appreciated. They listened to me and were flexible and willing to add a veil or belt of my choice, and were quick to eliminate those I knew weren't it. Plus, this trio had enjoyable personalities, great senses of humor, and seemed to genuinely want to help me find the dress I wanted. They weren't pushy or overly selling anything, and didn't hesitate to criticize a dress for one reason or another. I could tell they knew what they were talking about. After I bought my dress (with a discount for working at a hospital and paying in cash), I called Carlene to find out more about my dress (the original price and style number, etc.). While they don't always get all information about their dresses, Jim researched and backtracked and got back to me very quickly with this information. An all around fabulous experience! I'm meeting with their rave reviewed seamstress soon to make some changes to the dress to make it even more MINE! :)

I can't even begin to describe how wonderful of an experience I have had with The Sample Rack! From the first phone call, Carlene was absolutely wonderful. I felt confident that if the dress for me was there, she would find it.. and she did! It was the first one she pulled off the rack. Absolutely stunning, and they were able to work with my budget as well! I had gone to David's Bridal first, and the difference in quality alone is incredible, let alone the service and experience. They make you feel like a million bucks at The Sample Rack! David's kind of felt like a bridal gown factory or something. This place is warm and inviting, and I really can't say enough good things about it. Every dress I tried on was gorgeous, but I definitely had that "this is it!" moment, which I thought was kind of a tv thing. :) I am going to recommend The Sample Rack to EVERYONE.. I don't think I could have imagined a better experience!

If I could give more than five stars, I absolutely would. I would also recommend The Sample Rack to any and every bride. The staff are so welcoming and friendly and really enjoy what they do.

I am getting married in five weeks and had already purchased a dress. After the second fitting, I realized it was not the one. Ensue panic. I called The Sample Rack, and Carlene went above and beyond to schedule me an appointment right away- even though they were completely booked. She was so patient and knowledgeable of the dresses and found me the perfect gown.

She then called the seamstress and told her of my situation so that she could start alterations right away. The selection is amazing and the dresses are in perfect condition. I really wish I had discovered this shop in the first place! The prices are out of this world and if you pay cash, they don't charge tax. AND! hospital employees get a discount!!!!!

I tried and tried to find a dress, and the designer gown I ended up with was BEAUTIFUL.
I loved working with Carlene, she will not let you walk out the door with a dress that is not meant for you. I don't know who the designer is of my gown, BUT, it's incredible and I felt like the Belle of the ball! If you have struck out many places, this is a great place to try when you know what you are looking for.

So - there are several reasons why this place is amazing. First I called to make an appointment and spoke to Carolyn. I told her I was coming in from out of town and was cutting it pretty close to my wedding date (like 2 months close:) She offered to open the store for me on a day they were closed!!! Very sweet and amazing - and pretty rare. I ended up making an appointment for a day on which they were open - and I was so happy that I made the trek to Philly! I tried on several dresses and Carolyn was so patient with me and my mom. When I finally found a dress that was literally perfect for me - Carolyn seemed genuinely excited that I had found the perfect dress - she hugged me! These are women who truly love what that do and are excited when they can help you look perfect for your big day. It was a really perfect experience and I am so glad I went - my dress is stunning and it was under $1000 - which for this dress - was a deal! I have been to many dress stores and have seen what you get for under 1000 - and nothing was a gorgeous and perfect as this dress. Thanks a million to Carolyn - this store was amazing!

I spent all day today searching for my wedding dress and by 3pm I was ready to call the day a loss. But thank-fully my last appointment was at The Sample Rack and I am thrilled to announce that I found my dress within a matter of minutes!! The staff and owner are wonderful people and really enjoy what they do. You can see that they care about their customers the second you talk to them. When I first called to make an appointment and I told Carlene what my dream dress looked like, I could tell that she was already picking the dress that would be perfect for me. Well she must be psychic because the dress that I bought was the dress that she mentioned on the phone. I really wish I had gone there first....but it is important to know what kind of dress you are looking for first. But please, stop in and give them a chance to find your perfect dress; their inventory changes all of the time which is nice. You might be very surprised as to what you find when you stop in!

I had a great experience at the sample rack. I made an appointment a couple weeks in advance of visiting the store. I had been to a couple other bridal shops, but the sample rack is where I found my dress :) It was under $1,000 which was great. The women at the shop were very helpful. I told them what kind of dress I was looking for and they pulled a bunch of dresses for me to try.

The BEST part about the sample rack is that I acutally walked out their shop that day with my dress! I never expected that!

My family and I had a fantastic experience at the Sample Rack! The ladies were incredibly helpful, especially Carlene. She really listened to the type of dress I was looking for, but didn't hesitate to bring out some options that she thought would look great on me...and they did! What a great place to find your wedding dress! I initially called to make an appointment at the beginning of my search for my dress. They advised me to make the store my last stop so that I would already have an idea of what kind of dress I wanted/looked right on me. That's because what they have in the store is what they have so if you want a dress you have to buy it then (no ordering-you take the gown home with you that day!)

They had a decent selection in my size, and the prices are great. The dresses are all samples or extras from other store, so you get brand new amazing dresses at great prices. I know they have designer gowns too, although that didn't factor into my choice of wedding dress at all.

You have to make an appointment beforehand, which works out really well, because they are able to give you their full attention and the experience is much more relaxing. The women working there made the process really fun. They were so nice and honest about their opinions on the dresses I tried on, even when they both thought different things. I brought my mom, aunt, and best friend with me, and the staff made the whole process enjoyable. And I found my dream wedding dress! And at an awesome price in a great atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend the Sample Rack to everyone!

The Sample Rack is the place to go for a beautiful dress you will not find anywhere else for a great price. Unlike other bridal salons, they will not pressure you into dress after dress in order to get you to buy something. Very laid back & you are allowed time to think. I only tried on four dresses here, and the dress I ended up buying was the first one the ladies put me in! The ladies definitely are in tune with body type & style. You must make a decision quickly though since the dresses are samples and usually only have one. Once it's gone, it's gone! The ladies warned me of this, but the warning wasn't to pressure me into a sale, it was to make sure I avoided disappointment if I came back too late. The seamstress, Nilah & Company, they referred me to was an absolute doll to work with. She is amazing at what she does.

This was my first stop in buying a dress and found one that I absolutely LOVED but chickened out when it came time to buy it. I went to many other shops over the next 6 months but could not get that one dress out of my mind. I called The Sample Rack to see if they still had it and after 6 months the girls remembered me and still had the dress.

I purchased my dress last August at The Sample Rack. I had so much fun with the girls that took care of us that day.They made me feel so comfortable...no pressure at all! All of the dresses were gorgeous but this one imparticular, that was brand new and was just literally pulled out of the box(I watched them lol)was IT..it was MY dress! It was so much fun getting to say "yes to the dress" hehe!! I have since then referred many of my friends to their store. They were delightful to work! Thank you The Sample Rack :)

This is a sample dress store, so the selection is going to vary depending on when you go. That being said, I had a great experience. The first dress I saw when I walked in was the one I bought! They do not overbook appointments so you get personalized service. They are patient and understanding...if you want to go back and forth between two dresses (like I did), they will work with you. Plus, the prices are great!

I had an amazing experience at the Sample Rack with Carlene and Jim. I had tried on about 50 dresses before I got to the Sample Rack and Carlene worked wonders in finding me the right dress. She put 3 dresses on me and I loved them all. She was the one person who finally got what I wanted. I thought there was a lot of quality in the dresses and the prices were amazing, nothing over $1000. Carlene was also very accommodating rescheduling another appointment so my mom could come with me. I will recommend the Sample Rack to all of my friends. I wish I hadn't of wasted time at any of the places in and around Philly.

After calling and scheduling an appointment, my Mom and I went to Carolyn at The Sample Rack in November 2010 to look for a wedding dress. I didn’t have too many “must haves” in a dress but I did have a few (neckline, dress shape). Carolyn had a pretty good selection of dresses in many different styles and shapes. I tried on some dresses that she recommended but then I asked if I could try one on that was displayed in the front window. The rest is history! We paid for the dress right then and there and took it out the door.

While I would absolutely recommend Carolyn and The Sample Rack, I would caution brides-to-be to go in with an open mind. It’s a sample shop, so she only has what’s there. If you are a smaller size you may have better luck because you can try on larger dresses and have them taken in. The prices are very good (most expensive was $800) and my dress did not even need to be cleaned. Many of the dresses are name brand.

Carolyn was not pushy at all. She recommended a great seamstress for alterations and I couldn’t be happier with the purchase.

What a find! They have since moved from their hidden location above the La Forna restaurant on South St. but when I went there i felt like i was on an adventure.... I met Caroline down stairs and she brought me and my mom up to her 3rd floor room of pouf. There had to be over 200 dresses in her "office" all prettier than the next. The samples she has constantly change and all priced under $800. i tried on about five with some definite contenders. All were in great condition with now telling signs that they were store of runway samples. I would recommend this place to anyone on a budget looking for a great dress.

I purchased my wedding gown from the Sample Rack just over a year ago (back when it was still above La Fourno) and had a wonderful experience. Carolyn was very helpful in selecting my gown - she was more of a matchmaker, really. It was a dress I never would have selected myself to even try on but she seemed to know it would be "the one." I did select some duds myself to try on at first and never did I feel pressured to buy something I did not love. She did make suggestions on alterations that could make a particular dress more the style I was looking for. Some people may interpret as pushy but I appreciated that creative approach.
The seamstress she recommended was wonderful as well. Aside from alterations and a stunning bustle, she made me a custom length veil with Swarovski crystals that was just beautiful.
All in all I had an amazing dress that made an already beautiful day feel perfectly magical.

I went to the Sample Rack after a few shops I've been to for my wedding dress search and was more than happy with the service/selection. Fortunately, I found a gown with beautiful beading at the top, not to mention the train and bustle are gorgeous! It's perfect for me (and my body shape). I was so happy and relieved to finally find a gown that suited everything I was looking for, and it's been a tough search since I'm only 5 ft. tall - gowns I loved online were completely different looking ON me.

Carolyn was truly the best as she was very helpful in my dress search and told me which dresses looked great, and others that were just so-so. My best friend couldn't agree with her more when she said this dress was perfect for me! I would definitely recommend the Sample Rack and Carolyn to friends and other brides who are looking for beautiful dresses at prices you can't beat. I am very grateful to have found my gown here!

I ended up at The Sample Rack after I conceded that my original dress was going to be too hot for an outdoor wedding. They fit me in the day I called and I ended up with a new dress that worked perfectly. They also recommended a great dressmaker for the alterations. My fiance, who helped me pick out both dresses (taboo, I know) actually commented that the second dress was the better choice. I'm so happy that I found this shop and bought my dress there. The Sample Rack at La Fourno is the place in the Philadelphia area to look for your wedding gown.
They have different styles, one-on-one service and the price is unbeatable.
I almost bought two dresses since the price was right and I loved them both!

The ladies at The Sample Rack are beyond amazing!!! When I started looking for a dress, I was at the largest I had ever been and dress shopping was torture for me. The week before I had visited a boutique that made me feel absolutely horrible - so much so that I almost cancelled appointment at TSR. Boy, am I glad I didn't! When you call to make an appointment, they ask you some questions and if there is any dress you have seen that you like. It is recommended you head out to other shops to try on styles so that you can determine what you are looking for. Upon arriving, the ladies already had styles picked out for me based off my answers on the phone. They then take you through and pick out styles with you. They have you sit, walk towards the mirror, shine lighting on it, turn off the lights; you are also the only bride in the shop at the time. They just really made me feel special and for the first time I was thrilled to try on wedding gowns.

Carlene from The Sample Rack is really on top of her job. She wants brides to look beautiful and to leave the store in their dream dress. My experience was unique though. I bought a dress at the shop, all swept up in a magical moment of feeling pretty and skinny and royal. Well, I knew I loved it but couldn't remember too much about it until I went to get it altered and realized it was not at all the right dress for my wedding. It was perfect for a elegant church, we were getting married on the beach!! Before the dress was altered I spoke to Carlene and told her my story. I actually debated just forgetting that dress and buying another. What?!?! Carlene went to bat for me with the owner and agreed to let me come back with the unaltered dress and try to find something that worked better for my wedding. I didn't ask for my money back and would never have expected it. But this act went so above and beyond. They DO NOT take returns or exchanges. But Carlene was determined to let me leave a happy bride. We spent a snow covered evening in the shop after hours finding me a perfect beach wedding dress. And once we found it, I left, with no dress, while she promised to do everything she could to convince her owner to let me exchange it. Thank goodness for people who are still human (not ALL business). I not only had the most beautiful flowy beach wedding dress ever, Carlene even dropped it off at the tailor for me to save me the extra trip. She was fabulous in the end! After all the bumps in the road, I truly left a happy bride!!

I live in Kentucky and came to visit my future sister-in-law in Philadelphia for the weekend. We decided to make a few bridal appointments while I was visiting. Before arriving to my appointment, Carlene had asked a few basic questions to get us started. When we arrived, Carlene, Lindsey and Jim were more than ready for me. I came here with a few close friends to look at dresses. I was a little late to my appointment, and they were still very accommodating and kind. They only meet with one party at a time, so I had a lot of help. I was unsure of what I really wanted, and they were still flexible and willing to work with me to help figure it out. They were honest with their feedback with the different dresses, and did not seem to be pushing me to buy something. I ended up walking out of the store with a dress that I would not have expected myself to buy, but I loved it. At the wedding, I received a lot of compliments. Found a last minute dress

I decided to elope in Costa Rica with 4 months to get everything together. I found my perfect dress at The Sample Rack & was able to walk out with it. Only drawback was that it was hard to find someone to alter the dress despite the store ensuring me it wouldn't be a problem. Luckily I got it done & the dress was beautiful. Dress & alterations (extensive) were still under $2,000.

Overall, I really appreciated my experience at The Sample Rack!

I'll go with the more negative side first: the head consultant is kind of smothering. She has super strong feelings and ideas. She tended to dominate over the other consultant who was really supposed to be working with me. That being said, she was right when it came to my dress! She also basically forced me to dry on a couple of new dresses they had gotten even though 1 was WAY out of my price range and I didn't love the other purely because they wanted to see the dresses on someone. I didn't love that as much. I also didn't like feeling like my price range was "enough." The other salons we visited earlier in the day were definitely more comfortable as far as the personnel who were there, so if you care a lot about that, it's worth considering. The thing is, they rock at what they do and they did help me find my perfect dress.

Now for the positive: The 2nd dress I tried on at The Sample Rack was it. We just knew it! It was the perfect combination of two dresses I liked earlier in the day and it fit my proportions really well. I did not feel rushed at all during the appointment and the consultants worked hard to find dresses in my budget and that worked with my super petite frame. Once I tried on my dress, they were very encouraging. They let me spend time in it, try on a couple of other dresses to confirm that was it, and then put back on my dress and let my mom and crew cry for a while. It was so great. And I love my dress!!

The Sample Rack is truly a gem for brides on a budget! The shop is small and welcoming. There are a variety of beautiful dresses that are top quality, but are samples, so are sold at a reduced price. The staff is helpful, patient, and knowledgable. Great shopping experience!

I like most soon to be brides watched say yes to the dress and went to Kleinfeld's website and stumbled upon a dress that screamed my name with every stitch of fabric. The dress was so perfect for me that the model started to resemble me after looking for a minute or so (and not just to me to other people too) LOL. So i called to inquire about that dress specifically and the woman was so nice on the phone and eager to set me up and appointment and when i asked for the pirce of the dress she said $8,000!!!! I hung up LOL not literally but my budget for my wedding was close to $8,000 and I was devastated because now there would be no way to find a dress that was so me figured I mine as well go to David's bridal (GASP) and shop the sale rack because now who cares. I said all of that to say that the dress I brought from the Sample Rack was more me than any other because it fit my style and my budget. Even if you dont buy anything it is definately worth a look. I personally seen the dress as soon as I walked in and it was the first one I tried on and right away I was in love. I did not have to alter it or make any adjustments it was made for me. I also had a great experience. I bought a dress at La Fourno the weekend after I got engaged and it was the best decision I could have made. The price was great I and truly love the dress. The selection is varied and the atmosphere is low pressure and not stuffy at all which was exactly what I needed. Definitely worth a try for every bride.

I bough a beautiful Amsale dress that I loved wearing on my wedding day. I did make significant alterations to the dress, but the price can't be beat. In general, the place seems fairly hit-or-miss and if you're looking for the newest runway style, it probably won't be there. But, if you can find a dress, the value is amazing and one of the owners, Carolyn Verdi, was very flexible.

I got my wedding dress from The Sample Rack in March 2014. I had originally called for an appointment earlier in the month for a date when my mom was able to be in town and was told their were no available appointments, and then to my surprise that week, Carlene from The Sample Rack called me to inform me that another bride had cancelled and that the appointment was available to me if I still wanted one. Impressed with Carlene's memory of me, I took the appointment. Even still, I had an appointment at another salon earlier in the same day and almost cancelled my Sample Rack appointment after finding a dress I thought I loved. Needless to say, I still kept my appointment with The Sample Rack so my mother in law could attend an appointment with me too and was pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of gowns at the store. I found my dream dress there, the first dress they had me try on, despite thinking that I had fallen in love with the dress from the earlier store. The dress I ended up purchasing had been worn once before in a fashion show and needed minor repairs (a new zipper pull and some minor cleaning) and I was able to get the dress for half the original price, down from $3000 to $1500.

Service was good, it's by appointment only and they do one person at a time so I felt well taken care of. Carlene had excellent referrals for tailors as well. The only thing I have negative to say is that I felt pressured when I was deciding whether or not to get the dress at the end of my appointment. Carlene mentioned to me, "If you leave there's no guarantee the dress will be here when you want it, someone's coming in right after you and she might take it, we can't save it for you,". I took my chances and left because I needed time to think, but ended up calling Carlene 2 hours later to tell her I wanted the dress. Carlene gave me her phone number and was very responsive to my calls and questions.

The atmosphere at The Sample Rack is superb. There is no pressure and as the only customer you are able to discuss the process openly and really explore all of your options. The inventory is varied and high quality and the prices are unbeatable.

This was the first place I went to look for a dress, and unfortunately did not find anything. The prices were great, but unfortunately, there was NOTHING that I would ever wear! The sales woman was very pushy and seemed offended that I did not find MY dress there! A wedding dress is a very personal thing, and just because the designers were famous and the prices were good, does not mean that I should have bought something there. The inventory changes a lot and there may be something great for someone else, so I encourage everyone to take a look, but I really did not appreciate being pressured to buy, especially for such an important and personal purchase.

Carolyne was pretty pushy and rude.... Kept on saying the dress wouldn't be there the next day... Seemed annoyed when showing me dresses.. I woudn't reccomend this place to my friends.. It's a shame..Nice selection of dresses but the service is just plain crappy.

Felt pressured to buy, and later regretted

I was excited about the idea of trying on unique sample gowns and having the store all to myself for my appointment. I went alone and felt pressured to purchase a gown, and I later regretted my purchase. Carleen and her associate were helpful and seemed to know fashion but also were reluctant to take pictures of me so I could send to my friends (i went alone), and I did feel like they really wanted me to buy something. I paid in cash and got a paper receipt which did not even say the style of the dress and only the designer, which is problematic for me now when I am trying to resell it. When I went to the tailor they suggested for alterations, I was quoted a price that was almost as much as I paid for the dress, so I ultimately decided to go with a different gown.

I walked in on a random Saturday when I had time to kill in the city. Wasn't expecting to buy a dress that day!

The owner (is it Joe? I'm sorry I forget his name at the moment!) walked right up to me and said, "I have the perfect dress for you!" It was completely different than what I was looking at before, but I feel in love with it!!! Bought it THAT day! He has a great eye!

Must mention - you HAVE to have an appointment!! I got lectured by one of the ladies there that I should have had an appointment. (How DARE I just walk in off the street and buy something! In my defense, I was there killing time, and wasn't planning to try anything on, so the lecture was a bit of a put-off.....)

One other thing that did irk me - they cut the labels off. WHY??? The price tag said "Pronovias" but then later my seamstress found a label inside with a different name. I would have bought it anyway, but that is a little bit of false advertising.....

So, if you want a nice dress at a great value, this is certainly the place to go.

I wanted to love this vendor so much. I did end up getting my dress from this shop, but felt so disappointed when I felt like I was scammed for my dress. I do have to say, the people here were wonderful though.

I planned on buying in New Jersey to avoid sales tax, but thought that if I could get a good deal on a dress, I could rationalize paying the extra 8%.

I bought a Maggie Sorrento which fit like a glove, although it wasn't laced up entirely when I tried it on. We all agreed it looked good on me and the details on the dress were beautiful. I paid $1200 ($1296 with tax) and walked out with it that day. It was a huge relief to check that off my list. When I got home, I realized that is exactly what everyone else paid for the dress, so there was no real "deal", although they tried to tell me it was a $2000 dress while I was there. Should've done my homework...

The real problem occurred when I tried it on at my mom's house and she laced it up completely and we realized that it was made wrong. The whole thing twisted to one side and the bottom of the corset which should have been in line with my bum crack, was significantly to the side. We flipped the dress inside out and realized that it was sewn wrong and to correct it we had to take another two inches in on one side and let out ~1" on the other side. Now it was particularly snug and with all of my dieting and exercise, it still was incredibly tight.

Looking good in my dress was really the last thing I wanted to worry about. No one else probably notices, but I see where my dress was pulling around my hips and it makes me sick to think I spent that much on a dress that looked so ill-fitting.

The experience of being in the shop is a bit overwhelming. I did feel like they were pushing several dresses on me that I did not like. I recommend going with a friend and/or friends who speak up loudly! In the end I found a great dress I loved for a great price. Just get ready for a less than serene shopping experience.

I was drawn to the sample rack\'s designer dresses for cheaper prices. Carolyn is a bit pushy and told me an inflated retail price of the dress I purchased. I was shocked when I looked up the designer a few days later and her quote was at least $1,000 higher than the real price. I ended up with an amazing dress that after substantial alterations was perfect. It was a decent deal getting the sample, but not nearly the \"steal\" that they want you to believe it is. Educate yourself on typical designers they carry and actual retail prices before you go.

Carolyn is very very pushy and did not create a good experience for me. I felt pressured into buying the dress which I didn't like at all. She kept saying the dress would not be there the next day but it was there for a WEEK until I decided to buy it.
I bought my dress at the Sample Rack when it was located on South Street. I didn't want to spend a lot and I wanted something simple and modern. I didn't even bother trying on more than 2 dresses because they were all very early 90s styles.
I ended up hating the way my dress photographed probably because I was so concerned with getting a deal that I failed to remember that the wedding dress is in EVERY SINGLE PHOTO. Point is- you MUST love your dress to the point that you want to sleep in it. Looking back I would have bought the $7,000 Priscilla of Boston dressed that I wanted in the first place.

The Sample Rack is sorry that Jessica was unhappy with her experince and Gown choice. We have had several instances where Brides finally decided on a Gown that was already sold. There is a 24 hour hold option but the inventory turns over quickly. No Gown is over $800 so for a Bride who does not have a $7,000 dress budget we can often exceed their expectations. If you look at her other reviews it seems the whole event did not turnd out the way she hoped and that is very unfortunate.
