Dream Come True
This past weekend we had our wedding at the beautiful Sagamore. Danielle and her team exceeded every expectation that we had to help make our wedding day memorable and perfect. From managing all the vendors, tracking the weather, making sure we were relaxed and calm, she did it all until the end. Not only is the staff exceptional, the views are like no other. Our families said it was one of the best weddings/wedding weekends they have been too. We not only were able to celebrate love at this beautiful place, we were able to make long lasting memories. Highly recommend booking here if you want the same! Thank you Danielle and The Sagamore! -

Most beautiful wedding imaginable
The Sagamore itself is a lovely venue. It was perfect for this winter wedding. The lodge rooms are enormous, and everything is super comfortable - but the people are more important than the place, and absolutely everyone at The Sagamore was a dream to work with. Samantha Root helped organize everything; over the months of wedding planning, she was unfailingly responsive, kind, flexible, and thoughtful. Samantha, if you're reading this, THANK YOU SO MUCH!
When the Big Weekend finally arrived, Eddie greeted us on arrival, carried everything to our rooms, and then helped us pack - and repack - the car when it was time to leave. The entire staff was friendly and helpful, always looking for an opportunity to do something for the wedding party or one of the guests.
This wedding was everything that we'd hoped it would be. In large part, that's due to the setting of The Sagamore, and the efforts of Samantha Root and her amazing staff. -

A wedding to remember
After my daughter was engaged, it was time to start thinking about the wedding. She and my husband convinced me to throw caution to the wind regarding the weather and find something outdoors on a lake. We were on the same page with many things: we wanted a place that could host everyone on premise for 3 days, varied venues to host different parties on premise, a location that would have other hotel accommodations very close by for those who did not want to stay at the resort, great food, activities that would not cost our guests extra, a few dining options, accommodations for families who needed more than one bedroom, also on premise, bar options, a pool, a view. Hoping to get just a few of those options, we got them all at The Sagamore Resort on beautiful Lake George and when I walked into that gorgeous hotel lobby it took my breath away. In addition, an added bonus was that our guests could walk into Bolton Landing for cute shops and eclectic food options. So for three days we hosted 140 people for a wedding that was perfection. Even the weather cooperated. We sailed on The Morgan for our rehearsal dinner, had our welcome dinner at The Pavilion overlooking the lake, our wedding day was in and around Shelving Rock a beautiful, billowy, permanent tent overlooking the lake and the gorgeous Sagamore grounds, an after party in one of the hotel ballrooms, and Sunday Brunch at Bayview where our guests could sit on an outdoor deck or the inside room also fully decorated with white tablecloths and flowers galore. All on premise so walkable for everyone. When I say that there was not one hiccup in all of the scheduling, planning, execution, and expectation I am not exaggerating. Not. A. One. Over three days. Incredible, if you think about it. From the General Manager to the Door Attendant, the entire staff seemed keyed in to our event even arranging for a golf cart driven by friendly attendants for my 92-year-old mother to be available whenever and wherever she wanted. Floor managers for the different events were prepared, attentive, and professional, and the food…what can I say. It was outstanding. How do you cook filet mignon and sea bass for 140?
No idea... but they knocked it out of the park. Our expectations were exceeded by 1000%. Many of our guests had never been to Lake George and quite a few have booked for themselves to return next year. The countless, lovely notes we are receiving from our guests continue. The statement we hear most is, “best wedding ever.” To see how much fun everyone was having over three days made all the planning and expense worth it. I wrote to the General Manager a few days after the wedding, “Thank you for helping us give our daughter and her new husband a wedding I had been planning in my head for many years. I never thought I would get everything I wanted but…I did. Thank you."-

The most stunning venue on Lake George! Great food, staff is easy to work with, and the view is completely breath taking. The Sagamore is on it's own island making for a very private and intimate experience (at least in the fall). I cannot recommend The Sagamore enough! -

This was seriously the best place in the world to have a wedding. I decided I wanted to get married here when I was 5, and my dream finally came true this year! I can't say I really looked at any other venues, but I don't think anything would've changed my mind. I worked with Ashley, and she was superb! She always answered my questions quickly, no matter how small or silly they seemed. She always knew exactly what I had in mind, and was so helpful every step of the way! I had a Gatsby-Themed Rehearsal Dinner on the Morgan, which was just beautiful, and Ashley helped me set everything up, and even gave me plenty of ideas to set the tone of the evening. The whole wedding, (ceremony, cocktail hour, reception and brunch the following morning) went perfectly without a hiccup along the way. If anything did happen or something needed to change last minute, it was just taken care of, and I never even noticed. To me, it was the perfect day and it the whole planning process couldn't have gone better, thanks to Ashley & The Sagamore. -

We had a fabulous wedding weekend at The Sagamore. Our wedding was so memorable for us, and also for all our guests who kept raving about being there. There is no place better than the Sagamore. Agabail was so professional and made the planning of our wedding so easy. They team at the Sagamore are clearly experts at what they do. We attending the March brides event and even got a tour of the catering kitchen and bakery. We planned our wedding in a relatively quick time horizon which Abagail made easy by giving us leads and recommendations on everything we needed (band, photographer, flowers, officiant, etc.) to make it all come together. The Sagamore knows weddings and pretty much every vendor in the area so it was super easy to coordinate-even though we were out of town. We also held a rehearsal dinner, bonfire, golf outing and kids birthday party over the weekend. Having everything in one venue made it easy on us and our guests. I couldn't recommend more! -

The Sagamore literally made my dream come true. From our first interactions with them in scheduling a tour to the morning after the wedding, everything was done perfectly, professionally, and beyond any expectation I had. Every person we interacted with - from Valerie and Jennifer in the beginning stages to Abigail who became a life line, to Lori, Sue, and Josh for the reception - were amazing. Any issue that came up, whether ahead of time or an hour before, they were on it and handled it perfectly. Literally, and I am not exaggerating when I say this, the whole thing went perfectly - nothing went wrong. Nothing!!
The venue is gorgeous, so picturesque. I think every guest I spoke to raved about the hotel, grounds, and service. Even photos that guests took (as I don't have my professional ones back yet) came out stunning. The food was amazing. Each course was better than the last, and multiple people told me it was the best food they've ever had at a wedding. I don't know how they made 100 filets medium rare all at the same time, but somehow they did! The cake was exactly what we spoke to Lori about and then some! The service for the wedding was spectacular. They looked and acted so professional and friendly, and every one of them found time to congratulate us. They looked happy and excited to be there with us. Sue, the banquet manager, made sure everything went according to plan seamlessly.
Jennifer and Abigail, the two contacts for the entire planning process, were a dream to work with. They answered emails incredibly quickly and were always so kind and wonderful. Abigail was there for us for us for every moment once the wedding weekend started. Literally, she made it perfect. All the decorations were just as we discussed with her, everything went smoothly, and when there were those last minute emergencies (our fault) she took care of it immediately. I've hit the limit for this review, but I could go on. I want to do it all over again! -

The Sagamore was everything we imagined for our wedding and then more. When we first got engaged, we envisioned our wedding to be right on the lake and when we saw the Sagamore, we knew we found what we were looking for. The entire weekend was perfect and the backdrop of the lake and mountains was so picturesque. In addition to our wedding being a fairytale, our guests felt like they were on vacation! They enjoyed all of our festivities right on the Sagamore property and were able to enjoy the pools and lake. Abby, Jennifer and the entire staff were a pleasure to work with and were so responsive to all of our questions and needs. They ensured that we had a seamless wedding! I could not recommend the Sagamore more to anyone who is looking for the wedding of their dreams. -

We just had our wedding here, and it was PERFECT! The people were great, and I was really impressed on how EVERYONE was so accommodating and went above and beyond for us. Sarah Novick was our contact person and she did a great job of communicating with us and being very responsive when we had questions. She got things done quickly and always made a point to reach out to us and check in, even when she was clearly in a busy wedding month! All of the staff was great, Bill the bartender there remebered my name the entire weekend, everyone at the front desk was very capable and felt like we were always dealing with good people that were all making a point to make sure that me and my wife had the best time, which they fully accomplished!
The place itself is amazing. The food was really great, which was something that we were looking for, and there was so much to do there! Our party stayed there from Thursday through Sunday and we were all wishing we could stay there longer! Maybe the most impressive part of the location is the views of Lake George! It was everything that we could have asked for and all of our guests were really impressed which made us feel great about having our wedding there!
We had our reception dinner in Mr. Brown's pub on grounds, the wedding ceremony there was amazing, right by the water and everyone had the great views to look at, and the Saturday after we had a lunch in the Pavilion. Great weekend at The Sagamore! -

Amazing venue. Not as pricey as you would think due to the gorgeous location and stunning resort. They take care of everything. The price includes Open bar, a wedding planner, tons of delicious food, the cake, formal wear etc. If it rains- no big deal they have beautiful indoor ceremony options. All you have to worry about are flowers, music and a photographer. Love this place! -

We've been coming to the Sagamore for the last 4 years and always consider it a home away from home. Having our wedding there was an obvious choice and we were certainly not disappointed. Our wedding lasted for 3 full days planned with details and activities. Everyone had an amazing time and it was a true dream come true; everything was picture perfect and magical. The Sagamore staff continue to surprise us with their professionalism, services, and quest for excellence. We are beyond grateful and would highly recommend to anyone looking to have a very special wedding. -

Simply exceptional! We had a smaller, intimate wedding of 66 guests and it was perfect. Dawn Bennett pulled everything together for us, she assured us everything was going to run smoothly. Dawn truly cared about us as individuals and responded to our requests even though we had a smaller wedding. The location is stunning, could not have asked for anything more. This is the place to get married, elegant, class, impeccable service and attention to detail. We could not have dreamed of anything different. Thank you to Dawn Bennet, and all servicing staff. We truly felt special. -

The Sagamore was the most beautiful and phenomenal place to host our wedding. Not only is the scenery surrounding the hotel peaceful and serene, but the staff consists of some of the most unforgettable people I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Dawn, who is in charge of catering was brilliant. She was quick to respond to any questions you have and has a solution to any problem that arose. The waitstaff won't let you lift a finger and are always available. Lori, who was in charge of our wedding cake and desserts is sweet as pie! Pun totally intended. She is such a sweet heart and eats, breathes, and sleep cake. Not but never least, Amy from the salon in the Sagamore is simply brilliant. She was always on her toes and knows exactly what to do to achieve the exact look you want for your wedding. If she's unsure in the slightest she will do any research necessary to make your dream come true. I hope this short comment is sufficient enough for you to choose the Sagamore as your wedding destination. I could write for hours how great the venue and service is but I'm not sure they'll give me enough room! Congratulations on your future and I know you'll be more than happy with the Sagamore if you choose it!
P.S. - I highly recommend Tom Wall for photography and Finishing Touches for floral. Both are local and are run by the most amazing people I've had the privilege of meeting. -

Everyone we worked with at The Sagamore was so professional. The hotel itself is grand & absolutely gorgeous–the property is on a peninsula so it felt like our own little island for a day. We were so impressed with the hotel facilities, amenities, food, grounds & service & would definitely recommend. If you are looking for a historical, yet updated upscale wedding venue on Lake George, there really is nothing better.
We decided on The Sagamore mainly because of its picturesque location. Our ceremony was supposed to be outdoors overlooking the lake, but the weather was iffy-instead, we had our ceremony near Dollar Island Terrace which is at the back of the hotel. Dawn, The Sag wedding coordinator & her counterparts handled the move very well. Our ceremony was awesome despite the weather.
The reception room is beautiful–once it is all set up it is much grander than when we first saw it. We brought in a ceiling treatment to cover the tent bars, it was a great choice. It is a very spacious room, we had 170 guests & there was plenty of room.
The food at our wedding was delicious & well presented. We got many complements from our guests. The staff moved fluidly & everyone was served in a timely manner. Following the ceremony we were helped by Larry who made sure we had everything we needed.
Dessert–the pastry chef, Lori made a few different types of cupcake flavors. I was so happy about the desserts, some of the best I’ve had. We also had tuxedo strawberries & the most delicious macaroons.
Overall, the food was excellent & thankfully, what you would hope for from such a beautiful upscale resort.
Dawn was always so helpful & patient. Because we live in Boston, we did a lot of emailing with Dawn & her team throughout the year to iron out details - they were so great. Our wedding was amazing. I keep saying, it was like a dream. The Sagamore truly is one of the most beautiful venues out there...and the service and food were amazing. Thank you for everything!!!

The Sagamore will always hold a special place in our hearts. Not only was this the most beautiful place in the entire Northeast to celebrate our marriage but the Lake George area means so much to us and our family. The entire staff was amazing to work with and treated us like royalty on our special day. I can't say enough about how wonderful everything was. And the food was unbelievable. So many of our guest commented that it was the BEST wedding food they have ever had. The dessert table was fabulous and I also heard that it was enjoyed by all. The Sagamore is the best place on Lake George to celebrate one of the most important events in your life. You will never regret it! -

When we first decided we might want to have our wedding at The Sagamore, we were told that it was closed for the season. However, this did not stop Chris from setting up an appointment with us and making arrangements for us to see the space despite the resort being closed. From there, we were only more impressed with Dawn and her staff's ability to execute plans. Not only was the planning stage made easy but the service during the reception and entire weekend was superb. We would highly recommend The Sagamore as a venue that will not only serve as a beautiful setting for a wedding but also a memorable vacation (if even a weekend) for all guests who attend.

I can not say enough great things about the Sagamore. I grew up dreaming about my wedding there, and they took that dream and made it a reality - ten times over. Dawn Bennett is incredibly professional, thorough, and relaxed to boot! I was shocked at the service we received at the Sagamore, everything from the front desk, bellman, restaurant staff, banquet captains, you name it, went above and beyond my expectations. I was planning my Sagamore (NY) wedding all the way from Colorado - and they made it effortless. I can't wait until one of my cousins or sisters gets married here so we can relive it all again. -

My dream wedding
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Dream Wedding at The Sagamore Resort
The Sagamore Resort was the perfect wedding venue — truly beyond anything we could have hoped for. The stunning views of Lake George, timeless charm of the property, and first-class service made for an unforgettable weekend not only for us, but for all of our guests.
The food was outstanding — from the passed hors d'oeuvres to the plated dinner, everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Our guests are still raving about it! The staff were professional, kind, and incredibly accommodating every step of the way.
A heartfelt thank you to our amazing coordinator, Sam, who made everything run smoothly from start to finish. Her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and responsiveness made the planning process seamless and enjoyable. She truly went above and beyond to ensure every detail was perfect.
We feel so lucky to have celebrated at The Sagamore — it was magical in every way. Highly recommend for any couple looking for a breathtaking, well-run venue with exceptional service.

The Sagamore is a beautiful resort on Lake George. A great place for a wedding reception. Most of our guests stayed at the hotel and they enjoyed the facilities before and after the wedding as well as having a very special time during the reception. The evening was definitely magical, everything we hoped for and imagined.
A couple of things:
Make sure to find out exactly what is included in the "package" (we bought votives and candles - they had these). The salon at the Sagamore has all the services you could possibly need.
The food was terrific, well presented, and well served. The pastry chef made awesome carrot cupcakes with a special topper.
The Conference Services Manager at the Sagamore, Dawn, is steady through the whole process.
We had fewer people than the contract called for and we were reimbursed after the event. Make sure you ask how rooms are allocated and charged so that guests are aware ahead of time. This is a pricey venue but to us it was worth it - we wouldn't change a thing. http://www.thesagamore.com/
We did not have the ceremony at the Sagamore but the Sagamore provided transportation to and from the church in Bolton Landing, St Sacrement, http://stsacrement.com/Stsacrement.com/HOME.html
Other vendors we used:
For music we had the band "Cryin' Out Loud" from the Albany area. They were fantastic. Everyone loved them!!! http://cryinoutloudlive.com/site/index.html
The flower arrangements by Posie Peddler (Saratoga Springs) were natural and elegant and the bouquets were spectacular. Gretchen was very easy to work with and quickly had a sense of what we were looking for in an Adirondack wedding. http://www.posiepeddler.com/
Fine Affairs (Saratoga Springs) decorated the tent and supplied the chairs. We wanted a lighter look in the chairs than the upholstered chairs the Sagamore provides. Once we had a picture of what we wanted Robin at Fine Affairs handled it perfectly and effortlessly. I saw her that day to say "hello". I didn't have to do a thing. http://www.fineaffairs.com/
The photographer was Li Ward of Fat Orange Cat Studio (Boston). She was extremely, professional and took great photos. Check out her wedding photos at

My wife and I are from NJ and accostomed to high quality events. Our wedding experience at the Sagamore was exceptional in every respect. Our wedding planner, Dawn Bennett, was thoughtful, creative, responsive, flexible, had a good sense of humor and was very professional. Our wedding was small, less than 50, and there were 3 other weddings that day, but we were treated like ours was the most important. We never saw any of the other wedding parties even though they were very large. Our ceremony was on the roof of the veranda on a beautiful sunny day so the pictures were magnificent. On Saturday morning the guys played golf and the ladies were pampered in the spa while the kids enjoyed the pool.
The reception was perfect!! The food presented beautifully and the quality was truly impressive. The wait staff was professional, polite and responsive.
Our families still compliment their experience at our wedding. The location, atmosphere, food and service were absolutely spectacular!! We're headed back for our anniversary!! -

We got married 10.08.2016 at The Sagamore and everything went absolutely flawless from start to finish. Planning: We booked The Sagamore almost 18 months before the wedding and from the very beginning we were directly connected with our own personal on-site wedding coordinator, Abigail Shriber, who was an absolute pleasure to work with. She made the planning experience enjoyable, personal and she really shared our excitement for our big day. She was attentive to every single email, phone call and venue visit (planned or unplanned) and in the days leading up to the big day she was on top of every single detail, staff and vendor. Rehearsal Dinner: After our plans to have a rehearsal dinner at a restaurant in the town of Bolton Landing had some major issues - we called up the bar/restuarant at The Sagamore - Mr. Browns to see if they were able to help make something happen. They didn't take reservations, but when we called the day before our wedding and were put in contact with the food and beverage manager, Bob, he went the extra mile for us. They couldn't fit us in the actual bar, so he and his staff set up tables on hotels patio for our 50+ plus family members, had multiple waiters ready to go, bartenders at the ready and the food was amazing. They really made our rehearsal dinner perfect, and set the the tone for the great service we would experience all weekend. Ceremony: Our ceremony took place outside at The Sagamore. There were a few passing rain clouds on the day that gave us some worry that the ceremony would have to move to their covered location. Abigial could tell we were dying to have the ceremony by the water so she setup for both locations in preparation and said "we're going for it!" The weather cleared up just minutes before the ceremony, the guests seats were dried, the speaker/mic was all setup and we couldn't be happier with how smoothly it all went and how beautiful it all looked. A Perfect Wedding Weekend
Our wedding weekend at the Sagamore was even more incredible than we imagined it would be. You simply cannot beat the beauty of Lake George at the Sagamore Resort, especially if you get good weather like we did. Samantha Root and Abby Burdo were incredibly helpful in the planning process, which was particularly nice since we did not use a true wedding planner. The venue was on the expensive side, but that was to be expected at a waterfront resort hotel. We had a few minor hiccups with missing appetizers and booking transportation shuttles, but the Sagamore worked with us to fix the issues. Communication with the event manager was sometimes delayed, but that was understandable with how busy they can get during the wedding season. If the Sagamore and Lake George are as important to you as they were to us, then you won't regret making this decision! -

Absolutely GORGEOUS place! I could not have asked for a more beautiful place to begin our wedded life together. The food was fantastic, the staff exceptionally happy and cooperative. They allowed us to make our special day whatever we wanted it to be and it went off without a hitch. This is the Adirondacks at its finest and it felt like a fairy tale.
My only complaint is the lack in responsiveness during the planning process. -

Having my wedding at the Sagamore was a dream for me since I was a little girl. Our wedding exceeded these dreams, and I could not have imagined having it anywhere else. Dawn and Sarah were truly gems throughout the whole process, and we could not have asked for a better team of people overseeing our wedding preparations and wedding-day. Words truly cannot express the gratitude we have for these two remarkable women!
Everything was perfect on our wedding day (despite very heavy winds). Guests were blown away by the food, service, and venue space, and they are still talking about it 9 months later!
Huge thanks to the Sagamore Resort for making my wedding dream a reality. My husband and I visit quite often and get to relive that magical day. -

If you like being surrounded by breathtaking views of lakes and mountains, if you are looking to provide your guest with a once and a life time experience, if you are looking for top of the notch food and service than The Sagamore is the place you have been looking for! We recently had our wedding at the Sagamore and could only describe our experience as a dream come true. "Best Wedding we have ever been to" - was the most common comment we received! From our ceremony, to our wedding reception, to the Fire Pit After Party, to the morning after breakfast - things just could not have been better. The food was TOP NOTCH and just delicious. The chefs are very flexible and allow you to be very creative with customizing your choices so that everything is just right! One of the highlights for us was the service - you will never come across more dedicated workers than at the Sagamore. They all truly care about making sure you have that you have a wonderful and amazing experience while in their care. You can tell that all of them are just professionals from beginning to end and really know how to work a wedding to the best of their ability. The Sagamore really has a special team in place to make sure your day runs as smooth and as wonderful as you can imagine. Well done Sagamore - can not wait to come back for our one year anniversary! -

Beautiful venue!
The Sagamore is an absolutely stunning venue and we had an amazing wedding! We had our rehearsal on the Morgan which was a little expensive but an unforgettable experience. I have celiac disease and the coordinator and chef were very flexible with menu options and made the planning process stress free and the food was great! Our coordinatorJillian was very kind and helpful. We wanted to have a private dinner during cocktail hour and she over-delivered with the idea of dinner on the terrace which was our favorite part of the day! Prior to working with Jillian we worked with Danielle who we had communication issues with. Our guests raved about the venue and the bartender Gregory was the life of the party! -

Our Dream Wedding!
The Sagamore was our dream wedding venue, and it definitely did not disappoint! We had to postpone a couple of times due to Covid, and we ended up having our celebration at the Sagamore a year after our small ceremony. Lori and Kathryn were very helpful as we changed our plans, and they answered our many questions. Vicky was incredible with helping us secure rooms for all our guests. Once we arrived, Laura at the front desk was so helpful with everything we needed. Our suite was amazing, and all of our guests said it was the most beautiful venue they’d seen. They also raved about the food - it was all delicious! Our bartender was amazing as well - she always had our drinks ready when we were across the room. The entire staff made sure we had a stress-free and perfect day and we were blown away by everything they did. -

Beautiful venue, but hire an outside planner
I could not have imagined a more beautiful venue to get married at! All of our guests had a blast in Bolton Landing, and couldn’t have been more complimentary regarding our venue choice. The food was delicious, drinks were great, and the service at our actual wedding was phenomenal. Overall, it was the best day of our lives, and The Sagamore played a huge role in that! The only suggestion I will give future brides is to hire an outside wedding planner- at least one in the month leading up and for the day of. We used CW events and I recommend them highly. I was told by The Sagamore that an outside planner is not necessary, but I came to find out from many of my vendors that this is not the case. The Sagamore provides you with a personalized planner, but they host so many weddings in the summer. It’s your big day, and it’s completely worth it if you want everything to run flawlessly with as little stress as possible. -

I must say that the day of our wedding, everything was absolutely perfect and The Sagamore employees were more than helpful and wonderful. I have no complaints about the day - plus, we were lucky that they had finished construction and the pool had not yet opened - everything was literally picture perfect.
They were not easy to work with leading up to the event - it was extremely difficult to get answers to questions and my wedding planner had difficulty reaching people. Reservations was also difficult.
I do think, however, that once they get the "kinks" worked out, it will be an absolutely fabulous facility - they do need to remember that people are paying a pretty penny to have their wedding there and deserve timely responsiveness. But, all in all, I was happy with how it turned out. -

I originally thought I would marry at the Sagamore but after a "tour" learned they were not very flexible and don't have a good back up plan in the event of rain for a ceremony. (They were honest and up front about that fact) Although I married elsewhere we still held wedding related events there that required co-ordination. I was surprised at the trouble we had given that this is such a well known and established resort. The setting is beautiful and our honeymoon suit was fantastic. But the service was disappointing, for the money. -

Great Venue/Great Food/Terrible Coordinators
First the good:
- The venue cannot be better. It is stunning both inside and out.
- The front desk staff was awesome. They were so polite and welcoming
- The rooms are wonderful;
- The food was really good;
- The wait-staff served dinner like it was a choreographed dance. Several people commented how efficient they were and how professional they looked.
Now the bad: Prepare to get nickeled and dimed to death.
- If the parents of the bride and groom want to attend the tasting, you pay $100 extra per person but don't actually have your own dish to try. You have to share the bride and grooms dishes (they get 2). There is no extra food provided for your $100.
- The tasting allows each wedding party to taste two dinner entrees. You get to choose two for the wedding so you better choose well which ones to taste. Every other person I know who has gone through the wedding process got to taste any of the dishes they were considering.
- The wedding coordinators were horrible. They were unresponsive right up until the wedding date.
- We had the ceremony on the property. This leads to timing issues. THIS IS IMPORTANT: You pay for a 5 hour reception. The wedding coordinator suggests that you start the ceremony at 4:00 PM for a 5 PM reception. They put out the food at 4:45 (enticing people to come in early). Less than 2 weeks before the wedding they ask you for a credit card for any early drinks (pre-5 o'clock) estimating that people will start the asking for drinks at 4:30. So essentially, you to pay separately from the overall bill ($50,000+) for that first drink (which every guest gets)! So we started the ceremony late. The celebrant got to the tent 5 minutes early (4:55) and several people heard a bartender say that he had to wait 5 minutes for a drink. (Why send the bartenders in then?) Several people commented on how rude and awkward it was.
We had a great wedding despite this.
My suggestion for Brides and Grooms: Have the ceremony in town. You pay $3500 for the privilege at the Sagamore and a church costs -

I had my wedding at the Sagamore last summer. The place was beautiful, and we had an amazing day. However, the wedding planner Dawn was very unorganized. I had to make sure things were always being taken care of. She was very slow at responding as well. The wedding was very expensive, and the service should have been better than it was. The food was really good though, and the cake was beautiful. I asked if it would be too hot in July ( I Wouldve rented A/C's b/c there are none in the tent). Dawn said it would be fine...but def wasnt. It was so HOT! they had huge industry fans to cool down our guests. The tent was very plain, and we spent about $7000 to decorate it. For my rehearsal dinner, I paid alot of money to have the sagamore pick up my wedding party and bring them. They didnt show up and after calling Dawn, she acted like it wasnt a big deal. They were almost 2 hours late! with all that said, If I could do it again, I would still have my wedding here b/c the scenery is beyond gorgeous and the food and food service was excellent. They just need a new wedding planner! -

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner aboard the Morgan and about 30 guests staying at The Sagamore. Our wedding was offsite.
1. Booked me for a hair and makeup trial with someone who wasn't available for the day of services which ended up being a waste of time and money.
2. Told me that they had me booked for a gel mani and gel pedi 2 days before my wedding. But when I arrived was told they don't offer gel pedi and they only had me down for a regular mani. The technician was very sweet but then had to rush since gel takes longer and she was booked for the rest of the day which made the process stressful and my nails started to peel off within less than a week. I had to go to a Walmart to get my gel pedi. Go to the regal nails in the Walmart, they did a great job!
3. The Event coordinator didn't request the Sagamore shuttle service to be reserved until a week before the event even though it was requested by us far in advance. This meant we had to spend over $1,500 in additional transportation for our guests and they were unwilling to make any accommodations or to offset the cost.
4. The event coordinators in general were very difficult to communicate with and always seemed to be out of office.
5. Our welcome bags for our guests weren't ever delivered despite being dropped off by us well in advance of guest arrival but we were charged for them. Our shuttle schedules for our guests were in these bags which weren't delivered and led to a lot of guest confusion and to the shuttle which we had to pay for in addition not being fully utilized.
6. One guest reported having a dirty room upon checkin. One had a mini refrigerator in the middle of the room. Another guest who has a heart condition was asked to carry his own bags up 3 flights of stairs bc the bellman was busy.
7. We were given zero flexibility with start time for the boat ride and the boat could have easily fit many more people than they advised us which was disappointing because we would have invited others -

They charge for every single thing extra you can imagine... Even getting favors to your guests rooms!
Even though they act nice, ther rules are unflexible. Party must end by 10 pm even if it started late because of weather.
Didn't follow all instructions we have them.
The place is gorgeous, but the price is outrageous specially for the type of service provided.
They lost some of the things I brought for the wedding ... Never got them back. -

Beautiful location, but it pretty much stops there. Although hopefully our guests will know none the better, customer service was beyond disastrous. Our rehearsal dinner reservations were cancelled the night before for no apparent reason, our guests bags never made it to one room, and some of our guests were charge for a wk stay, not a wknd and had to battle to get the bill straightened out. Weddings are an expensive industry and the Sagamore knows how to maximize on this... The venue is expensive and the customer service falls down right and left. I will leave it at that.. They have had high turnover in staff in whiich the weddig coordinator we initiallly worked with did not respond whatsoever and was eventually fired. Our new wedding coordinator was unfortunately not much better and made huge mistakes right and left. We are not a high mainenance couple, but for the prices they charge- you are much better off at a venue that can offer customer serivce at that level.. -

I was shocked and appalled at the level of service, flexibility and professionalism provided by such a beautiful location. The staff were not helpful whatsoever, recommended vendors who never call you back, and completely screwed up all of the guests hotel reservations. As a person who works in the wedding industry, I was expecting more professionalism from such a well-renowned facility, but was highly disappointed. If time permitted I would have found another location. The Maitre'd was useless.....the food was mediocre at best, and some minor details went undone. The billing afterward was a nightmare, the staff DOES NOT LISTEN when you ask something of them......there were some ridiculous prices for minor requests ($35 "corking fee" for wine I brought in myself, $4 per shrimp, clam and oyster at the cocktail hour, $12 for bloody marys, and the list goes on). I have heard that much of the staff has been replaced, but a major key player in my disastrous day still remains, so unfortunately my wedding day, albeit fantastic due to my guests unknowing, will forever remain slightly tarnished. The hall should be ashamed of themselves. -

Would stay away
We live in Florida and inquired about having our wedding at the Sagamore and were given the pricing for the weekend. We flew from Florida to NJ, rented a car, and made the round-trip drive just to tour the venue. Upon arrival, we were informed that THE PRICING STRUCTURE THEY GAVE US WOULD NOT BE HONORED AND THE PRICING STRUCTURE WOULD BE MODIFIED. We continued the tour anyway and even then still wanted to get married at the venue. At the end of the day we asked the Sagamore if they could include a room (which didn’t have a bathroom) for the bridal party to get ready in and a hotel room for my fiancé and I. They told us they could not make those two basic accommodations for us. We’re in the industry and I have never turned down such basic requests (honestly that these two items would not be included initially as part of a six figure wedding was questionable in and of itself). Needless to say, we did not get married at the Sagamore and we happily spent roughly $225 more per person for our wedding at a different venue. We are happy to have had a venue that appreciated holding our wedding and didn't make it feel that they were “doing us a favor” hosting our wedding. All couples deserve honesty and transparency for their wedding. Our recommendation would be to find a different venue to work with. -
