We fell in love with this venue here on Wedding Wire when we first looked. After that we compared everything back to it. They are great to work with. The pavilion inside with the ceiling lights and built-in bar is beautiful. Getting married on the docks and having the marina being the backdrop of all our pictures was absolutely perfect. They have a list of recommended vendors, but ensured us that we could any vendors we wanted without any issues. This venue is so easy to make it exactly what you are looking for. Also October is a great time there, just book early!

The Pavilion at Pirates Cove is truly a one of a kind venue. We had our May 2023 OBX wedding here and it was perfect. Tammy Tobin and her team go above and beyond to ensure you are set up for the perfect day. The venue itself is great because you can customize it however suits your needs, and the ceremony site overlooks the canal and boats. We loved everything about our wedding and are so glad we chose Pirates Cove Marina.

We chose the Pavilion at Pirates Cove after looking at other wedding venues in the area because of the affordability, the location, and how much space there was. The venue itself is beautiful and a blank canvas to add your own personal touch and that is what I enjoyed most. The Marina was the perfect background for our ceremony and our wedding photos. I couldn’t have chosen a better location to celebrate our special day.

Pirates Cove Pavilion is where we had our cocktail hour and reception after our beach ceremony. It was the PERFECT venue. It is a massive space, has a stage, dance floor, bridal suite, large bar and of course the amazing view of boats/water. Tammy (point of contact) was spectacular! She is quick to respond to e-mails and was very flexible the week of our wedding. 10/10 Recommend Pirates Cove for your wedding!

Amazing! Couldn’t ask for more
We got married on a Sunday in October and it was perfect in every way. We had a chance of rain that ended up holding off for us, but it was so nice knowing we could move inside for no additional cost if needed. Tammy was very very helpful during the entire planning process. She had great ideas for planning, and was more than welcome to share vendors with us. Cannot recommend pirates cove enough!!!

The Pavilion at Pirates Cove is such a beautiful place to get married! The Pavilion holds a special place in our hearts and Tammy was awesome to work with. She allowed our day of coordinator Engaging Event and Renee Landry to set up the night before our wedding so we were able to get a sneak peek before our guest. We loved this venue since most venues we toured told us we HAD to pick from their recommended vendors but Tammy was happy with us picking our vendors. We cannot thank everyone at The Pavilion at Pirates Cove enough for all they did! Do not think twice when finding a venue because The Pavilion at Pirates Cove is a venue that especially at night is just breath taking!

Tammy and her team are the best to work with! My wedding was June 11 and Tammy allowed us to set up the venue space the day before since no one else had the facility reserved which was a HUGE help!! Tammy was available to answer all my questions and she was very fast at responding. I provided her the layout that I wanted the tables/chairs and everything was set up perfect! So easy to work with and the space is obviously beautiful! I love the Edison lights in the reception space. 100% recommend Pirates Cove as a venue!!

They were amazing and so accommodating. Our only downside was the stated AC was only big fans, 1 or 2 i think which did not cool down the venue on an unusually hot october night. we had to purchase more for guests to stand in front go the whole night. We would have rented real AC units had we known, a bride doesn't want to sweat on her wedding day let alone drip sweat.

This venue can be anything you’d like it to be! We booked especially because we could stock our own bar! No AC or Heat but our wedding was 11/10/18 so we rented Patio Heaters for The reception. We had no issues with parking for our 125 guest wedding. Tammy is awesome!

Pirates Cove is an ideal place to host a wedding. The Pavilion is a great setting for both wedding and reception, a clean slate to let your imagination take over. Having our wedding at the Pavillion at Pirates was the best experience, not only was it a stunning venue Tammy was so great to work with. She helped guide us through the planning process and gave us ideas on how to transform the gorgeous venue into something that fit our personalities perfectly. The pavillion space is huge and gave us so many options to work with. My husband and all of our family and friends rented houses in the Pirates Cove community and it was so nice to walk to everyone’s house to visit during their stay! Our wedding in August was an absolute dream. The ceremony was held on the dock outside of the Pavilion. A boat had just come in with a big tuna, which all of the guests thought was so cool! The owners of another boat allowed us and the wedding party to take pictures on the boat. The reception was held inside of the Pavilion, and it was so perfect! Tammy was a huge help throughout the process of planning our wedding. Any help we needed, we reached out to her, and she provided a quick response! We are so happy we chose to have our wedding at this beautiful location.

Pirates's Cove was an amazing place to have our wedding reception (you can also have your ceremony on the docks for a one stop ceremony/reception venue). Tammy is incredibly helpful, professional and accommodating both via email or if you pop by in person like we did several times. The pavilion is a blank slate and you can make it exactly what you want. Tammy has several pictures of previous wedding to offer inspiration if you need it and a list of vendors that have worked the space and are trusted to give you great insights. The space is very large so it provides space for a big reception or ample space for many reception activities which is how we chose to divide it up. You also get the space fur a full 24 hours which is really what differentiated them from many of the other sites in the area for us. We wanted to be able to set up and celebrate into the morning which we were able to since there wasn't anyone there to kick us out at 11pm like at some of the other sites in the area. We even held the after party right there instead of jettisoning everyone off to another location. Additionally, the cost of the space is unmatched anywhere else that we found. The ambiance of the location is also very unique. You get the beautiful rustic look of the pavilion with the built in lights above (great for pictures) and guests can also enjoy the docks and boats parked right outside during the celebration. The only issue we had (which was our own fault) was that even though it was 80 degrees outside it was very warm inside the pavilion. We should have opted to rent the large, quiet fans that Pirates Cove offers to get the air moving. However, the weather was beautiful just outside and our guests had nothing but great things to say. Some other features we enjoyed were the air-conditioned bridal suite, the beautiful new white chairs they have, and the huge bar where many of our guests spent the evening!

As a couple that enjoys fishing, we could not have picked a more fitting venue for our wedding day! Many of our guests had never been to the Outer Banks and they loved walking around the marina and seeing all the boats. Tammy was so easy to work with and was quick to respond to any questions/emails I had along the way. We had ~125 guests and there was more than enough room for everyone. Personally, I felt the venue was so beautiful it did not need much in terms of décor/flowers (which helped with the budget). Having the tables/chairs, dance floor, bar/ice maker, ceiling lights, etc all provided by the venue was a huge in terms of convenience. Thank you for being part of our perfect day!

We loved Pirates Cove Marina and the amazing staff. Everyone was super helpful and friendly. They even saved us in a bind when our officiant got lost and was going to be 2 hrs late! They found us an officiant on hand and had him there within the hour, crisis averted with their quick help! I can't thank them enough for helping save the day! I'll also say Tammy was a rockstar putting up with my back and forth email chain trying to make decisions with my bridesmaids asking me a ton of questions to relay to her :) We were allowed to get into the venue to decorate a day early (no extra charge) since no one had rented it out the day prior to the wedding and it was a huge help to decorate the night before. This is a Beautiful venue and I would recommend it to anyone.

This venue was perfect for our wedding! The Pavilion is beautiful and so convenient with all the rental homes available in Pirates Cove resort. Tammy and her team at the Pavilion were wonderful! She provided excellent service and made our day go as smooth as possible! We were able to host a cocktail hour outside and have the reception inside. The facility was perfect for an indoor/outdoor reception and was a great space to accommodate a large or small crowd. I would highly recommend this facility to any couple! Our day was perfect and Tammy definitely was a huge part in making that happen.

I can't say enough good things about our experience with Tammy and her staff at the Pavilion! Tammy went above and beyond to stay in communication with me and provide advice/reminders about things we needed to procure leading up to the day. The space is breathtaking - definitely the best place to get married on the OBX! The flexibility of the space and the contract made this venue our #1 choice. We had cocktail hour outside, pictures on the dock, and 190 people plus caterers and a large band and it all fit beautifully. The ability to choose our own vendors was a must for us and Tammy made it very easy for all vendors to have access to the space. There are many beautiful places to get married on the OBX but if you want flexibility, a personal touch, and a stunning view, there is no comparison to the Pavilion!

I couldn't imagine having our wedding anywhere else. It turned out even better than we expected; thanks to Tammy and Jims help along the way! They were soooo helpful and kind and made the whole process so easy for us. It's such a beautiful venue with the Edison bulbs on rafters, massive bar and emense amount of space. It has the perfect amount of character while still being a blank slate to make it your own. And the price was just the icing on the cake!

This venue was great for a warm-weather wedding! The Pavilion is a blank slate that can be transformed into anything you want it to be. There is a ton of room so dancing, dining, and (for us) corn hole could be done all within the same space. My guests adored this venue. We loved everything about Pirate's Cove. The team made planning super easy, they were flexible within reason, and we immediately felt like we were part of a family.

2 words to describe the difficulties we had pulling off our wedding...Hurricane Matthew. To say the week leading up to our wedding was stressful is the understatement of the century. Tammy and her crew did everything in their power to not only help alleviate the stress but also pulled off our event despite Matthew trying to crash our party! The pavilion was set up exactly as we wanted, the ceremony was moved from outdoor to indoor without issue, and they did everything they possibly could to accommodate any last second changes in plans that we had to consider. We booked the pavilion 15 months before our date and Tammy stayed in contact the entire time, providing anything we requested and keeping us up to date on anything they needed from us. She was a pleasure to work with and genuinely seemed happy whenever we stopped by when we were in town planning other parts of the wedding. You cannot go wrong booking this venue!

I honestly loved everything about our wedding! The venue was perfect and the staff was so very easy to work with.
My only comment is that I understood the upgraded wooden chairs to be white, and they were 2-tone. I was not a huge fan of the color and would have much preferred them to be all white. This would be my only suggestion for improvement!

The Pavilion at Pirate's Cove was the absolute best place that we could've booked for our wedding ceremony and reception. We were married right there on the docks in front of the marina and it was an absolutely beautiful day. Tammy and Nikki made sure that everything was set up and they were so wonderful to let us in the day before to start setting up lighting in the rafters. They were so responsive, no matter how many questions I had and were also so kind and pleasant to speak with. The reception area is absolutely perfect for any size wedding and provided the perfect feel for exactly what we were looking for during our special day. Pirate's Cove is absolutely gorgeous and affordable for a wedding venue and we couldn't be happier with our choice. It's so special to know anytime we drive by or visit Pirate's Cove on vacation, THAT is where we tied the knot! Staff and venue were everything we could've hoped for and then some. The facility was gorgeous and clean. The overall flexibility of the venue was a major draw for us. Wouldn't go as far as saying "blank canvas", because it was visually appealing, but we were also left with many options to customize. Also, not being forced to use an in-house caterer was a major plus!

Booking the pavilion was an easy choice for my husband and I. It is so beautiful and Tammy is awesome! She answered all of my questions in a timely manner and always had recommendations when I didn't know what choices to make. I will use this venue again in the future when we have large parties planned! The twinkle lights make the room romantic and perfect for any theme you are going with. You can have your ceremony and reception all in one place but with different views for each. I loved having my wedding at The Pavilion at Pirates Cove Marina!!!

We LOVE Pirate's Cove! Looking back, we can't even imagine booking anyone else. Tammy and her crew are flexible, helpful, and excellent to work with. It rained on our wedding day, and we were unable to use the extra chairs that we rented for the outdoor ceremony. Without hesitation, Tammy refunded us the money for the rental chairs. Because of the size of the venue, we were able to comfortably have our wedding ceremony and reception indoors. Pirate's Cove let us use their oversized ladder to hang our ceiling decor, had all the linens that we rented ready to go, and even gifted us on our wedding day! We had 110 guests at our wedding, and the venue was plenty big enough to house us and even more! We highly recommend booking Pirate's Cove! They helped make our day perfect!

Pirate's Cove Pavilion is one of the coolest and most unique places to get married. It provided plenty of space and although we would've liked to have the ceremony outside on the dock, the venue allowed for us to bring it inside when the weather didn't hold up for us. You get to decide your own setup and it allows for so much flexibility and so many different options. Tammy sat with me for over an hour giving me different options and ideas and then sat with me and my mother in law again doing much of the same thing. She was super accommodating and probably answered 5,000 questions from both my mother in law and me up to and even on the day of the wedding. They were flexible and let us decide up to 2pm on the day of the ceremony whether or not we wanted it inside. The lights in the rafters of the venue are awesome and make for great pictures. The new bridal suite (shout out to Jim) was anything a nervous bride could ever want! I couldn't think of any other place or any other people that could be more perfect for a wedding than Tammy and Jim at Pirate's Cove Pavilion.

Pirate’s Cove was the perfect place for our Outer Banks wedding ceremony and reception. It was on the water, affordable, a huge space, had beautiful lit ceilings, and had a rain back-up plan built in. Our guests raved about how beautiful the space was. I am a DIY bride and wanted to make a lot of my own decor, this large space allowed me to showcase everything I made without the space feeling cramped. I even was able to have a photo-booth and corn-hole in the space with no space issues. We loved that we were able to use an outside caterer since my dad is an amazing cook and wanted to cater. The sunset views with all the boats in the marina were absolutely beautiful!!! The backup plan for rain came in super handy too, since we ended up having a nor’easter come through the weekend of my wedding. A lot of the other Outer Banks venues I looked at did not have a very good (IF ANY) rain back-up plan. The venue suited my rustic coastal theme perfectly! We also LOVED working with Tammy and Jim. They were super helpful, responsive, and are just super nice people. I highly recommend this venue for a wedding or any event! It was absolutely perfect!!!

My daughters wedding at Pirates Cove Pavilon was wonderful. Tammy Tobin and the Pirates Cove staff help make this day a great memory. Everything from renting ceremony chairs and linens to holding containers for the florist to make centerpieces, every detail was planned out perfectly. Having to travel 4 hours, the time and energy Tammy put into helping me make sure I had everything I needed for the big day was much appreciated. Everyone was very kind and helpful.

Pirate's Cove was the perfect place for our wedding reception. The price was right, the flexibility was amazing and the best part was how awesome the people were. Tammy and Jim (and their cute dog Bolo) were so helpful, responsive and accommodating! We loved working with them! Our guests raved about the space and how fun it was. We were able to save so much money by bringing our own alcohol and personalize the wedding by choosing all of our own vendors Tammy helped me with an easy additional package that included the linens, navy colored napkins that I wanted and helped us with extra tables so we could have a mix of long and round ones. Our bridal party and families all had houses on the property which MADE the weekend! It was one big celebration the whole weekend with everyone able to be in one place and the views were gorgeous! I'm so glad we chose Pirate's Cove for our venue - everything was perfect!!!. When you are planning an out of town wedding you have to have great vendors and pirates cove was one of our favorites to work with!!

It was affordable for us as they included the tables chairs and dance floor and also have the ceremony and reception set up ahead of time. The venue is on the water, has rental properties for out of town guest and is near restaurants, shopping, golf and fishing. Very accommodating on every level. Great electrical outlets, bar, ice machine, assistance with trash cans, set-up, flexible with hours during set-up and break down. Only complaint at all was the draftiness of the building which damaged some of the exhibitors' displays. Wondering if there is any way to block wind, even with a temporary outside sign as it was unbearable at times, blew things over, etc.

The Pavilion at Pirates Cove was an outstanding venue. We had the ability to make the wedding our own with our own accents and ideas, which is hard to do in a ballroom type setting. We had beautiful pictures taken on the marina with the boats as well as had our cocktail hour outside with lawn games. People loved the idea of the outdoor/indoor feel of the Pavilion. The staff, especially Tammy, was very helpful and we would recommend this venue to anyone!

The Pavilion at Pirate's Cove Marina is the perfect location for a wedding reception. The setting can't be beat, and it made for some beautiful photographs. The Pavilion was spacious enough to hold our large wedding party. It has a great bar area and large stage for the band. Tammy is wonderful to work with. Pirate's Cove is such a beautiful location! I used them for my wedding reception in July. It was perfect! They are so flexible with how long you can use the facility and helping with setup and breakdown. I couldn't have asked for more!!! Heather is so helpful with coordination services she made our day go smoothly!

We stayed at Pirate's cove for our pre-wedding honeymoon and it was an AMAZING place to stay! beautiful condos with a beautiful view! I can't wait to go back to the outer banks!

Pirates Cove Pavilion truly made our special day come true. It was the perfect for a larger group of people but covered since it was in the middle of July. Tammy was always there to assist in anything and always responded quickly. We were overwhelming pleased with our choice for our wedding day.

Tammy was so easy to work with! The venue turned out perfect, even though it was our backup plan for the ceremony because of rain! It could not have been any better!

I loved the idea of getting married on the marina, and pirates cove is the perfect place! The venue is HUGE so if you are having a good size wedding this is the best place. They also have a stage which is perfect for a band. Since it is pretty much a 'blank slate' inside you can decorate it as much or as little as you want and whatever you want!
Since it rained on our wedding day, we had the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception inside..and there was more than enough room for each to have its own area and even extra for the caterer!!!

the pavilion was a great venue for the actual location we stayed at houses across the street which was awesome for our wedding party.

We worked with Tammy to use the pavilion as our wedding location. Everything was set up exactly as the layout I requested, well ahead of schedule. Tammy kept great communication with me throughout the whole process and answered all of my many questions.
Why we chose Pirates Cove:
- beautiful location...honestly, my pictures are amazing with the boats in the background, our ceremony right in front of the water, absolutely beautiful.
- We were allowed to bring in any vendor we chose, which was somewhat difficult with a lot of the other venues around
- We had the place for a full 24 hours, so we didn't have any specific time to kick our guests out.
- Plenty of options for people to rent condos or houses right on location, this was great for us since so many of our guests came from out of town
- The venue price included tables and chairs (set up as well)
- It had its own backup plan should it have rained...the venue space is very large, so if it had of rained, we would've moved the ceremony inside to where we had our cocktail hour. Wouldn't have been ideal, but rain on a wedding never is!
A few things to consider...
- The weather. The pavilion is not heated or air conditioned, and there are two big side doors and one front door that is open. I feel in dead Summer, it might get too hot.
- The space is HUGE! We only had 70 people, but I think it could fit a couple hundred. It was nice for us to have all the space though...we had corn hole boards, and games all over the place.
- Not much of a kitchen available for your caterer. We had one caterer not take the job because there is only a sink and ice maker in the back. I guess this is a problem for some.
Overall, the place is amazing!

This is a great venue for a large function. Tammy was most helpful in ensuring a wonderful and memorable event. The wedding along the dock was beautiful and the Pavillion was stunning when decorated.
There is expense associated with hiring an embellisher to downsize the Pavillion and to decorate for the wedding.
Tammy couldn't have been more helpful in working to make the wedding a great success.

A beautiful blank slate
After touring several venues in Virginia Beach, we stumbled upon The Pavilion at Pirates Cove during a family vacation in OBX. We immediately fell in love with its waterfront location, indoor/outdoor options, built-in bar and stage, and twinkling lights. But what really sold us was the ability to bring in all our own vendors. It really is a beautiful blank slate that you can make entirely your own. That said, the one downside is that it does require more decor than other venues we saw. But if you are crafty or hire a stellar vendor team (like we did), then you’re in great hands. It really was the coastal wedding of our dreams! Another thing to note is that there is a small bridal suite which was perfect for storing all mine and my bridesmaids personal belongings and a place to freshen up mid reception, but definitely not big enough for an entire bridal party to get ready in. Beyond the venue itself, Tammy and her team were fantastic to work with and extremely accommodating — especially in the midst of COVID. They helped set up and break down and didn’t rush us out the same night, which allowed me, my husband, and family to enjoy the entire night. If you’re on the fence about this venue, do it!!! You won’t regret it.

What a beautiful venue and reasonable price. Tammy was very professional and easy to work with. We're glad to choose to have our reception at Pirates Cove. We did have a pirate wedding and were a little shocked there wasn't any pirate decor already in tact though. Our event was 9/16/16 and it was quite warm in there and we didn't recall there being mentioned of renting large fans. Luckily my new in laws got there early and were able to rent two fans for our reception, a bit pricey and wish it had been included in our package. So be aware of this in case its a warmer day. hehe. All in all, yes you get what you pay for, but we went with the most basic package due to our budget. Still highly recommended and we love our stemless wine glasses given to us as well.

September 2023 Wedding
The space is great and there’s a lot you can do with it with the right planner and vendors. Our only complaint was the temperature: pirates cove does not have air conditioning. We had our wedding in early September on a 90 degree day. We rented the industrial fans they had and were assured that the fans, plus being on the water at night would be cool enough. It wasn’t. Every single guest that danced visibly sweat through their dresses and tuxes, and some had to be speciality cleaned. The fans were working so hard that they actually overheated and had to be turned off. It was still a great wedding and great party and our guests were all good sports about it, but a word of caution if you think this is something that would bother your friends and family.

We showed up the day before our wedding at the time our contract said we were allowed to start setting up, but they had just started cleaning up from the day before so we couldn't do much until they were done, which didn't leave us with much time for set up. We ended up having to come back late that night after our rehearsal dinner to finish everything. Other than that the facility was great and staff were very helpful.

We loved our wedding at Pirates Cove, The scenery is beautiful and not much more is needed to make it a perfect wedding venue. My only reccomendation is that you prepare for such a large space, it is hard to fill it if you are having a small wedding.

I would not recommend this venue for wedding. The area is too big and unless you are planning wedding for 300-350 people, it will look too big. They recommended to hang a wall of balloons to separate areas. The wall of balloons will cost you extra 850$ via their provided vendor. If you decide to have a wall of balloons, I would not recommend to try to hang it yourself , the ceiling is too high.
In general , the area that you are going to rent is a barn. It's not enough lights in there , so you will have to put extra lights on the ceiling or use candles.
Also, the area requires a lot of decorations , otherwise the venue will look too empty and too boring. Via their recommended vendor it will cost you another 3000-150000. On the positive side you can made anything you want out of that place.
During the warm weather , there is no central AC and they will provide fans ( for additional cost) that you can put on the floor.
During our communication process the main manager who is responsible for rent of the venue acted professional but at times not very nice and didn't take a personal approach to the issues that developed during the process of renting the venue.
The Pavilion at Pirate's Cove Marina's reply:
We are sorry that you found our venue to be too big for event. We do pride ourselves on being the largest venue on the Outer Banks, however our average wedding is about 125-150 guests. We believe the space is an excellent value for any size wedding and gives many options to utilize the space for other activities such as corn hole, a cigar bar, or an optional indoor ceremony in case of bad weather. Many couples do their own decorating and find that with the use of the provided ladders the ceilings at 14' are manageable. We do appreciate your feedback and wish you continued happiness.
