My husband and I had a general idea of what we wanted when we began our venue search. Something indoor for dinner and dancing, but nothing that felt constrictive. We wanted a space that had an option of being outdoors for portions of the day/night. The Appel Inn was exactly what we were looking for with a wraparound porch where the bar was set, a breathtaking outdoor ceremony site, and then the reception space. Laurie was great to work with and was honest and helpful during the planning process. The grounds have a she shed that my 12-person bridal party was able to comfortably spend time in and a smaller grooms shed. We did not get ready in the space, and I would not recommend doing so for a larger wedding party, but we did spend the couple hours before the ceremony there and found it to meet our needs just fine. The venue is naturally very beautiful and we did not need to go crazy with décor. We did really basic flowers and centerpieces and it was just perfect. There are so many incredible photo opportunities too, so find a photographer familiar with the space (Linda Conley was ours and she was awesome!) Laurie and her husband Gerd were there throughout the wedding day/night checking in and helping the night move smoothly. I found their presence to be very pleasant. Overall, my experience at The Appel Inn was really wonderful. I would highly recommend viewing this venue, meeting with Laurie, and booking this venue.The Appel Inn's reply:

We were so lucky to work with Laurie for our wedding - she has incredible experience, a creative, fun, and flexible touch, and treated us like family. Planning our wedding in Altamont when we were not local would have been so stressful without Laurie. When we were looking at venues for our wedding, we knew we wanted more of a country style wedding, but with modern amenities.
One visit to Appel Inn made us sure that we wanted to host our wedding there. It is a beautiful property with a creek, lawn, and nice deck that guests can meander through.
The covered creekside ceremony space let us have our outdoor wedding without being worried about rain ruining it.
The gathering space is warm and inviting and the air conditioning was key on our 100 degree summer wedding day.
A story that speaks to Laurie’s willingness to go above and beyond is when it came time to button up the bride’s bustle on her dress. The design made it difficult to find the correct buttons and loops, but Laurie patiently worked on the dress until it was correct.
Laurie and Gerd are there to make your big day go perfectly!

Perfect venue, perfect day
We can not recommend The Appel Inn more highly. We had our wedding there on 10/10/21, and were blown away. Laurie and her husband are truly incredible, and were instrumental to making our day special.
To start off- the venue is absolutely gorgeous. You barely need to decorate it all, it is beautiful and elegant all on its own. It is classic and timeless, and utilizes natural light so beautifully. The outdoor space is beautifully maintained and is great for guests to get some air and hang out. There are heaters to keep the space usable after dark and in the colder months. We did lawn games, which were a huge hit. There is a great dance floor that doesn’t monopolize the space. The venue is gorgeous no matter the weather. Having a bonfire pit was incredible and really added to the atmosphere. The venue has a built-in rain plan as well, which was an enormous incentive for us to book and was something that we were grateful for and eased a lot of anxiety. There are so many cute little spots for photos, both for guests and for the photographers.
Laurie is an absolute godsend. She acted as our day-of coordinator, and managed our timeline so well. We did not have to worry about timing, timelines, schedules, or anything. Laurie and our DJ would come get us when we needed to be somewhere, and that was it! We were able to completely relax and enjoy our party. Laurie is fantastic for planning as well! When you sign the contract, you get a binder with recommended vendors that have worked at the venue before, which is worth its weight in gold. We chose our caterer, DJ, and photographer out of the binder, and were over the moon with all of them. Laurie has been planning weddings for a long time, and as people who have never attended a wedding before, we wanted someone who would not hesitate to tell us if our ideas were stupid or wouldn’t work how we want them to.
We truly could not have been happier with our wedding, every aspect was absolutely perfect. The Appel Inn was worth every penny, and I strongly recommend it to anyone looking for a personalized, beautiful, FUN wedding venue. It was so lovely to have space for the guests to comfortably spread out and be there in a way that was comfortable for them.

Kendra Sent on 09/03/2021The Appel Inn is a Total Hidden Gem
Wow, my husband Ethan and I could not be more happy, with the not one, but two weddings we got to host here at the Appel Inn with Laurie and Gerd. After venue shopping in the summer of 2018 we locked in with Laurie for a July 2020 wedding. We ended up working with Laurie that spring and she allowed us to host a 25-guest ceremony in her gorgeous ceremony space so we could still be married on our original wedding date. We pushed our bigger wedding and reception to our one year anniversary and were able to transfer all of our deposits to that date. This past July, things could not have been better! The she-shed and grooms room are so much fun to hang out in. We are in love with the the ceremony space which allows for outdoor ceremonies even in the rain! The Gathering Space is perfect, we had 75 guests and it felt so spacious and open, even with everyone inside. We loved having the deck space for the cocktail hour and the bar. Although the dance floor looks a bit small when it's empty, even with most of our guests dancing, it never felt too crowded. Laurie and Gerd are sooo accommodating and flexible with any requests you have, even day-of. Laurie is also super in the know in the wedding business, so a quick email to her and you've got your officiant, DJ and florist all set! The Appel Inn seriously is a magical space, I would hands down book it again next year for a third time!The Appel Inn's reply:

We LOVED this venue. The venue owner, Laurie, was so helpful and had great communication with us. The place was absolutely beautiful, and Laurie coordinated everything perfectly. She is also helping us with our honeymoon! We had a great experience here. -

As you can imagine, planning a wedding during a pandemic was pretty stressful. We faced some challenges having to change our date and then our original venue fell through 2 weeks before our wedding date... then the Appel Inn made our dreams come true when they took us on.
The Appel Inn was SO perfect. We're so glad we ended up having our wedding here. My bridesmaids and I got ready in the "she-shed" all morning. It was spacious, filled with natural lighting that bounced off the white wood, and had space for changing into our dresses. Oh and it even has air conditioning!
They have a beautiful wooden boardwalk that leads right from the she-shed to the ceremony space. When it was time, we walked right out to the ceremony. The space itself has a lovely clear covered roof so it works rain or shine. It includes a rustic wooden beam for the arbor that you can decorate however you'd like. The white pebbled flooring was unique and beautiful.
The large circular reception hall is breathtaking. So spacious and grand with its high ceilings and rustic feel. The room is full of glass windows and doors to allow lots of natural light. The doors lead out to a very large wrap around porch where we danced the night away safely spread out from one another.
After the sun goes down, the property is full of twinkling lights in the trees, on the deck and on the tall beams. It was seriously so beautiful, our guests couldn't stop complimenting the venue. I 100% recommend this space. The owners are very friendly, accommodating and went above and beyond for us.The Appel Inn's reply:

Whether you're going for an outside or inside venue, the Appel Inn is the most versatile we've ever seen! They were even happy to work with our non-traditional Day of the Dead/Celebration of life themed event.

User2719962 Sent on 08/10/2016We cannot even begin to express what a fantastic wedding we had at the Appel Inn!! The gathering space and the grounds are absolutely gorgeous (married in July)!!! Laurie was such a great help and will give you her honest advice! That is so helpful when there's so many things people 'think' they need for a wedding. Laurie really helps you stick to your budget and can direct you towards items you can cut out. Laurie spent around 6 hours over multiple meetings with us. We would highly recommend a meeting even if you have a good idea of what you think you want. We were able to cut out $$ and still have the same effects we were going for as a direct result of our meetings.
We had a great wedding and great experience! We would highly recommend the Appel Inn and Laurie to anyone and everyone who is looking to get married!!! Our day was perfect thanks to Laurie!!! -
User2341775 Sent on 09/29/2015We had our wedding reception at the Appel Inn in August. Laurie was absolutely wonderful every step of the way. From meeting with us over a year in advance to book the reception, to helping with bridesmaids dresses, planning center pieces, communicating with the wedding party to plan a surprise slideshow-- Laurie was always available and easy to access via e-mail and phone. She was always helpful and enthusiastic and assisted us in narrowing down and more clearly defining what our vision was for our wedding day. The grounds were beautiful and we got MANY compliments on the venue from family/friends (many from out of town). We couldn't have been happier with our wedding day- it was truly a dream come true and was in large part due to Laurie's help and behind the scenes work!! Oh-- and she helped us to plan a fabulous honeymoon to Sandals Royal Caribbean that was better than we could've imagined!
