A Wedding Dream

SSIR gave us the wedding of our dreams. To start, the venue is beyond stunning. We got married at sunset overlooking the ocean and it truly was breathtaking. If your looking for the look of a tropical destination wedding within the United States, this is your venue. Our wedding coordinator was Christine Coppola and she truly was amazing. She was very responsive with any questions we had, helped us organize all our details, and really made any request we had possible. I HIGHLY recommend South Seas for your dream wedding!

A beautiful place for a wedding

South Seas is amazing place for a wedding. We wanted a destination wedding and didn't even have to leave the states for what we wanted! They have numerous spaces for different events. Malissa, the wedding coordinator, was excellent and very professional. She wanted to capture your vision and then some. Everyone who works at South Seas, wanted you to have the best experience. I would highly recommend this resort!

The Best Wedding Weekend!

South Seas Island resort has been part of my family's traditions for over 25 years. When it came to picking a location for our wedding weekend, South Seas was our easiest decision. From our first meeting with Malissa, we knew this would be the best place to host our friends and family. Malissa was our South Seas contact and she made the entire experience so incredible! When we needed flexibility to move all of our events outdoors due to COVID, she helped to make our wedding even more amazing than our original plan. The resort has so many incredible locations to host multiple events. We got married right on the beach at Sunset Beach and then our guests traveled in the iconic blue resort trolley to our cocktail hour and reception on King's Crown Lawn. The best part of South Seas is that you have the ability to host multiple events at the resort. We hosted a welcome party and dinner on the beach under the stars and a farewell brunch on the top deck of the resort's waterfront pool. Our guests raved about the food, drinks, staff, and the resort's beauty all weekend long! We are still getting messages from our guests saying they can't wait to travel back to South Seas! If you are looking for a beautiful beach location that is safe (COVID) and fun for all of your guests, South Seas is amazing!

Perfect Venue

South Seas was a magical, perfect place for my husband and I to get married for many reasons. Hands down, there is no better private beach setting than Sunset Pointe. No one observed our ceremony except the loved ones we invited and the dolphins in the Gulf of Mexico. The tropical landscape and one-in-a-million sunset we had the night of our wedding proved we made the best choice. There are so many venue spaces to choose from and the new Sunset Pavilion was just what we were looking for- a classy, air-conditioned indoor space with a beautiful deck and lawn for our guests to enjoy the fresh air and get the perfect sunset shot. Many have said our pictures look like they can’t be real, but that’s just the undeniable beauty of South Seas and Captiva Island. The food was fantastic, service was incredible, and there is so much on-site entertainment we knew that our guests would be able to have a memorable vacation. From the moment we arrived as Bride and Groom, everything was stress-free and first class. We were able to relax and enjoy the venue’s amenities knowing that our events were in good hands and were ready to be executed to perfection. South Seas is the most picturesque Florida beach resort that we look forward to getting to celebrate our anniversary at for years to come.

Malissa was absolutely wonderful to work with! She was very responsive and even moved our site the day of to give us a little more privacy. The resort is beautiful and gave us everything we wanted for our wedding.

South Seas resort exceeded my expectations. The rooms are clean and have great views. Staff is very friendly and helpful. They go out of their way to make sure you enjoy your stay. I am counting down the days until I can return!

We recently had a sunrise elopement in south seas resort, at sunset cove. It was just perfect, we are already planning our return for our anniversary. We are from the UK so was a little worried initially about planning etc, but as soon as Malissa got in touch with us we were put at ease straight away. She was very knowledgable, and very responsive to emails. She called us as soon as we arrived at the resort to go over everything, and welcome us. On the day she had a very Calming nature, and made sure everything went to plan. I would definitely get in touch with Malissa if you're planning a wedding at south seas! She's the best!

This venue was beyond amazing! There was a slight issue after Hurricane Irma hit, but they went above and beyond to make our day unforgettable! All of our guests had an amazing time, and we're even planning an annual trip with everyone back to South Seas!

We got married at South Seas in May and it was even more than I ever imagined! Rhonda was amazing to work with and JoAnn was as well. All of our guests enjoyed the resort and some even extended their stay. They were willing to negotiate with us which was really nice. The food was amazing and the venue we used (Kings Crown Lawn) was absolutely beautiful! I would recommend this venue to anyone whether you are having a small or large wedding. It is by far the best resort on the island. There is a trolley on the resort so for guests flying there is no need for a rental car! We will for sure be going back at our anniversary!

My husband and I got married earlier this month at Sunset Cove on the beach and held our reception outside at King's Crown Lawn. It was absolutely perfect and everything we had envisioned fell into place due to the planning and coordination with Rhonda. We visited the resort late last year and knew immediately that this was the place we wanted to get married. Rhonda assisted us with planning and coordinating every step of the way, she answered all of our questions- big and small and helped guide us thorught the entire process. The setting of the ceremony and the reception are unparalleled, if you are looking for a beautiful setting, this is it. Our friends and family loved the resort and plan to return in the future, as do we. Thank you Rhonda and South Seas for making our day so special and beautiful.

South Seas as a venue, is absolutely stunning! I have been vacationing at South Seas since I was a little girl and always dreamed about getting married there one day. We had our rehearsal dinner and ceremony outside on the beach and Kings Crown Lawn respectively, with our reception inside Kings Crown. To say our special day was a dream come true, is an understatement!

What made our day even better….was getting to work with our wedding coordinator Kelsey. She literally made the impossible, possible (and multiple times!). Words cannot describe how amazing she truly is. She is kind, sweet, calming, patient and professional. I could not dream of planning our wedding without her and I know our wedding would not have been the same without Kelsey. I only wish all brides were lucky enough to work with Kelsey and I cannot thank her enough for everything she did for my husband and I before, during, and after our wedding!

South Seas Island Resort is a perfect place for destination wedding. Their catering managers are top notch and we were blessed to have their director Rhonda Decherd taking care of every detail. Their banquet and catering staff are very attentive and never overbearing. Every last person at the resort made us feel like we were the only guests on the island.

We worked with Kelsey at SSIR on my daughter's wedding, and what a doll Kelsey is! No detail was too small for her to attend to and complete! Additionally, the service by Eric at check in / check out, by Neil throughout the weekend, and by various other staff including security, accounting and housekeeping was truly exceptional. Not only did they respond to an emergency, but after we checked out, ensured three important items left in the Villa or lost were either shipped or personally delivered to a remaining member of our party. We LOVE SSIR, and its Staff - thank you for a weekend of a lifetime!
Room Tip: We loved our Lands End Villa for its spaciousness

South Seas is absolutely as beautiful as the pictures on their website, especially of the King's Crown Lawn, which is where we had planned to have our wedding ceremony and reception. Every person we came in contact with was beyond helpful, friendly, and generous. For example, when we went to pick up the top tier of our wedding cake the day after our wedding at the reception location, the director of catering asked what we planned to do for the day. After we told him we were thinking of having brunch and some mimosas, he got us mimosas to send us off with!
I do not envy our wedding catering manager, Kelsey, for having to break the news to the occasional bride that her wedding ceremony/reception has to be moved indoors from its planned outdoor location due to weather. She had to do that with us for both our ceremony and reception due to a thunderstorm that blew in at the last minute. But she is such a pleasure to work with, and really cared about making our wedding day go as smoothly and as perfectly as possible, that the news did not seem as terrible as it might have otherwise. It also didn't hurt that our backup indoor location was the King's Crown Dining Room, which was recently renovated and is just a lovely, simple backdrop for a wedding. We had the best possible wedding day at South Seas and a spectacular time during our stay. I would highly recommend this venue to future brides for their destination weddings.

South Seas Resort made my daughter Elizabeth wedding a dream come true! She always wanted a island wedding and this was perfect. After a year of planning a huge storm hit the island 4 hrs. before the ceremony. The ceremony had to be moved inside.
At 4:30 the skies cleared - Kelsey Holloway the event planner at South Seas came to us and said if we wanted they would reset everything up outside, including the decorated wedding arch. They did and Elizabeth had her dream wedding right on time!! The rest of the evening was beautiful. The dinner was perfect, all 85 filets were perfectly cooked, the chef and his crew did an incredible job.
We could not recommend the professional staff at South Seas enough and especially Kelsey Holloway she was exceptional!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On April 28, 2015, my fiancé and I were married on the Kings Crown Lawn at South Seas Island Resort. Our special day was beyond perfect. The venue was stunning and the food was exceptional. The lawn was spectacular and the inside of the Kings Crown had just gotten brand new hard wood floors and chandeliers which looked beautiful. As for the food…..during our tasting months before, we enjoyed several fantastic options. Of course we wondered if when served to 100 guests the food would be just as good...well I have to say it was. It was AMAZING in fact. Two of the three entrée options included steak and I had several guests comment that their steak was as good as if they were in a 5 star steakhouse. Everything from the hor d’oeuvres to the dinner were presented beautifully and delicious. Also, it was a plated dinner and everything came out on time-the staff was wonderful, they never missed a beat.
The day was perfection due in large part to the efforts of the South Seas Island Resort staff. While the entire staff was exceptional I have to point out our wedding coordinator at the resort- Kelsey Holloway- in particular. Over a year ago my parents, fiancé and I were in Captiva looking for a venue. At the time Kelsey was working for one of those venues. While we ultimately decided South Seas was the ideal spot for our wedding, I remember Kelsey making it a tough decision because she had made such a positive impression on me. When my Mom and I were later told that there was a new wedding coordinator at South Seas and her name was Kelsey I was very hopeful it was the Kelsey I loved from my prior visit to this other venue. It turned out to be Kelsey Holloway and my first impression was correct. Kelsey was professional, attentive, patient, accessible, calming, organized and a complete delight for my mother and me to work with the entire time. She worked well with our vendors and went above and beyond to ensure our special day was perfect. We loved her and South Seas!

South Seas (along with Kelsey, the Catering Sales Manager) was amazing from start to finish. Our wedding dreams were made a reality, and I would highly recommend this venue to anyone. We received many compliments on the food at both the rehearsal dinner and the wedding, and each venue (Sunset Beach Luau and King's Crown Lawn) was perfect. We ended up having 105 total people at our weddding, and I am confident each person had a great time not only at the resort, but at each of our events.

You will not be disappointed should you choose to marry at South Seas!

My husband and I had our wedding at South Seas Resort in March of 2015. The staff was wonderful to work with - our catering sales manager, Kelsey, kept in constant communication with us, especially as the date got closer, to make sure that we had everything we needed. We wanted a specific setup for our reception tables, as well as the ceremony chairs, and everything was setup exactly as we requested. The catering staff did an incredible job of preparing the food for both our welcome dinner at Sunset Beach the night before, as well as the delicious buffet during the wedding. Kelsey was on hand the day of, finding some club soda at the last minute to get a stain off of the train on my dress, as well as having items like tape and scissors on hand while I was getting ready. We got married at Kings Crown Lawn, which was a site I fell in love with when we were venue searching. We had a destination wedding, and we wanted to have the ceremony near the ocean but without the issues that come with sand, and we definitely didn't want to have our reception in your typical banquet hall. Kings Crown was perfect, with the lawn area overlooking the ocean, and the Plantation House being right there for the cocktail hour/reception. I would highly recommend booking your event at South Seas Resort.

We absolutely fell in love on our first visit to South Seas and knew hands down it was the place we wanted to be married. We worked with Rhonda and she made all of our wedding dreams come true. We planned the wedding from afar and she was always very responsive even with all of the other weddings she has going on! With questions from the food, style, locations, weather, and budget, I felt like I always knew what was going on and that she would give me her honest opinion and help! We are still getting rave reviews from guests about how beautiful the island is and how the service and food was amazing at the wedding and all weekend. Thank you again to SSIR and Rhonda!

South Seas is the perfect location for a wedding. The entire staff went a over and beyond to make our wedding more than we ever dreamed it could be. The food was outstanding! Our guests complimented that it was the best wedding and reception they had attended.
We even had to move the wedding up to 3 weeks away and the staff could not have been more accommodating. Our experience could not have been better!

I have loved working with Rhonda! She has been wonderful and has done her best to accommodate our requests for our wedding day so far. We love the South Seas and have stayed with them for the past six years. Their resort is absolutely gorgeous and the King's Crown location where we are going to have our cocktail hour and reception is truly breathtaking romantic. I would absolutely recommend this vendor!

From beginning to end the staff was friendly, welcoming, and extremely helpful. Given that this was a destination wedding for us, the catering sales manager was very flexible and made sure that all of our questions were answered in a timely fashion. She was patient, professional, and responsive. She also provided an excellent list of recommended vendors that were all outstanding. The food was great, and the staff was fantastic and very helpful with catering to specific food requests and allergies. We would highly recommend this wedding venue!

Our wedding at South Seas turned out to be the most beautiful event we could have imagined. We signed our contract over a year in advance so I had plenty of time to ask a million questions. Between Jennifer, Lexie and Kelsey - all my questions were answered. The resort was so festive for the holidays, it added that extra 'wow' for all of our guests that really can't be beat. We had a minor issue with double-booked space for the Welcome Party but they came through with an even better location that was perfect for our guests. Everyone raved about how beautiful the wedding was and loved coming for a Christmas Vacation to such a beautiful resort. Even our native-Florida friends and family were wowed by this hidden jewel and said its a weekend they won't forget. I recommend this venue for a picture perfect wedding weekend, especially if you want an outdoor wedding ( ceremony and Sunset Cove and reception at Kings Crown) and even better if you have it during the boat parade and the holiday stroll! This really was the wedding of our dreams :)

South Seas made by wedding weekend absolutely wonderful! I was very lucky to have Lexie as my coordinator. She was so wonderful, great to work with, flexible, professional, and EXCELLENT at what she does! We had both our rehearsal and reception out at the resort and Lexie made sure everything was perfect! She had great ideas, she was organized, always responded to emails and calls promptly, and most importantly she made our wedding PERFECT. I could not ask for a better experience. I would recommend south seas and Lexie to everyone! Or weekend was hectic with a lot of rain, but Lexie had a back up plan to everything. Everything was perfect from the venue, food, dj. We are over 3 weeks out from our wedding and are STILL getting calls and text about what a wonderful venue and how DELICIOUS the food was!! thank you to south seas and to Lexie for making our wedding everything and more!

My husband and I just had our wedding at South Seas and we could not have imagined anything more perfect. While the scenery speaks for itself, the staff, the planners, and the catering were all fantastic to work with and made the whole process enjoyable. Our coordinator Lexie was with us throughout the entire process and answered every question we had. She guided us through the tough decisions based on her experience and led to a perfect wedding ceremony and reception. The options they offer including golf carts, sky lanterns, corn hole tournaments, alternative venue sites due to weather, and stringer lighting options are just a few of the many reasons that make this an ideal place to get married. We 100% recommend having your wedding here!! We strongly recommend taking advantage of the preferred vendor list too!

I truly love this this florist. I had a destination wedding. I had to do all of my arrangements the email, phone and Internet. Dalia and Libby went out of their way to make sure that every single detail was done properly.Most of all, they stayed within my budget. True professionals.

Our wedding 10/31/13 at South Seas was perfection. Our coordinator Tammy DaCosta went above and beyond to make sure everything went as planned and many people said it was the best wedding they had ever attended. The food was beyond incredible and the fact that we got to use 4 different venues for our events was great. The grounds at South Seas are beautiful and the staff was great to work with, the whole experience was more than I could have asked for.

My groom and I have always had a special love of Sanibel and Captiva. Living in Naples we thought it would be fun to have a “Destination” wedding but still make it easy to get to. We could not have picked a better venue than South Seas Island Resort. My initial phone call to the Wedding and Events Department was an eye opener. We did not have a big budget and when I heard what the site fee for a Saturday night wedding was (not to mention the minimum food and beverage you needed to spend) I thought our dreams were dashed…

Until the South Seas Representative said those magical little words “Have you ever thought of a Sunday brunch reception?” The more we heard about it, the more we liked it. It was within our budget and with the money we saved we threw a “Welcome Dinner” on Saturday night for all our guests at the amazing Overlook Bar at the Pointe. It was fantastic! We had so much fun designing our own menu and when we had our “Tasting” a few months before the wedding, I thought I had died and gone to food heaven. The cuisine was delicious and beautifully presented. And at our wedding day Brunch, it wowed all our guests!

When I decided to have my wedding on Sanibel/Captiva Island, I looked into three venues. When I came to South Seas, I knew in a second that this was where I was going to get married. I am so glad I did!! My destination wedding weekend was absolutely perfect and not one detail went wrong (granted I had great weather!). I had my rehearsal dinner at the beach luau spot, and on Saturday had my ceremony out at Sunset Cove grass lawn overlooking the ocean, and my reception on Kings Crown. Every detail of my wedding was beautiful and the staff of South Seas was so wonderful to work with. We had 160 out-of-state guests and three international guests who are all still calling and e-mailing me about how great the venue was for my wedding. Everyone was able to make a vacation out of it and everyone thought South Seas was beyond beautiful and said it was one of the best weddings they’ve ever attended. The food was excellent, the bar tenders were great, and all the music and entertainment that went through South Seas was top notch. Thank you, South Seas, for exceeding my top expectations for my wedding!!!

I got married at South Seas Resort three weeks ago and had an incredible experience. We wanted a casual, but beautiful place where our guests could enjoy the Florida landscape, but also have a formal wedding experience. I thought it would be difficult to pull off a black tie wedding near the beach, but South Seas was the perfect place to do it. Because we had a large wedding of approx 300 guests, we set up a tent on the West Lawn just steps from the beach. South Seas was incredibly accommodating and gave us ample time to set up and prepare for the big day. The result was gorgeous. To top it off, the food and service at the reception was exceptional and we still receive raves about the dinner and general ambience of the whole night. Our rehearsal dinner the night before was in Kings Crown/Kings Crown Lawn where beautiful twinkle lights made the night so scenic. Brunch was in the same place -- and because the weather was so beautiful all weekend -- was a fantastic way to end the celebration.

All in all, I couldn't recommend South Seas more. Our guests felt at home with all the different options the hotel has for accommodations – big families stayed in houses and villas, groups of friends chose between 1-3 bedroom hotel suites, etc. Everyone at the resort was super friendly and incredibly professional. The wedding team at South Seas worked with us and our party planner for nearly 15 months and made sure that every detail was addressed. I do not have enough good things to say about the resort. We had an incredibly unique wedding that I genuinely believe could not have been done anywhere else. I cannot wait to see the pictures and wouldn't change a thing about our big day. Absolutely loved this resort and all it had to offer for our wedding! It was the perfect spot to have our guests celebrate the evening with us. The staff at South Seas was professional, responded in a timely manner, and was fun. They helped make my wedding day one that I will never forget. I greatly appreciated how quickly John responded to my emails, how me and my guests were treated with respect and the entire staff went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect. Every event from the rehearsal dinner to the wedding to the farewell brunch was well thought out, every detail was taken care of and it was absolutely amazing! My husband and I were married at South Seas on May 20th and after months of planning, we walked away thinking that nothing could have possible gone better. We had 3 different dinner events, Friday night at Kings Crown, Saturday night at Sunset Luau, and Sunday Wedding at the Cove and reception on the lawn and each event was flawless! We have heard from over 20 different people that this was the best wedding they have ever been to. John Blaharski, our wedding coordinator, was many things to us at South Seas and we couldn't have done it without him:

Organized - I always felt that John had a great grasp on the plans and I felt very comfortable leaving many decisions to his better judgement. We had not seen the property prior to committing to South Seas, so it made us feel at ease that John was always on top of everything from the rooms, to the lighting, to the timelines, to the transportation, to the menus, etc.

Flexible - It seemed like whatever we wanted, John found a way to make it happen. This included my husband and I's trip down the waterslide in our wedding attire after the wedding reception! To this day people are still telling us that that was one of the most memorable parts of the wedding and it was all thanks to John!

Committed - When I ran into an issue, John was always right there to fix it. I came to Captiva with the security tag still on my dress for the rehearsal dinner, and John somehow took it off of the island and found someone to remove it in time. I'm still not sure what I would have done without him!

Solutions-Oriented - John always knew the balance between telling us what to do, and letting us decide. He obviously knew the venues better than we did, so we really appreciated his candor when we were deciding the logistics of each of the events. Although it was always clear that we could do what we thought best, he made us aware of the various options and their implications before we settled on a decision. We really appreciated the unique ideas and solutions that he brought to the table.

The Pre-Wedding Experience - The planning prior to the wedding was also a great experience. I felt like the entire team was very accommodating with our unique requests, which was very important to us. The chef and John were both very helpful with our requests to keep the meals Vegetarian/Kosher and to put together theme dinners so that each night had a different look/feel. It was also meant so much to us that John was so flexible with his meeting times during the planning phase. Both my husband and I work a lot and John was always readily available to talk to us at night and on weekends. I think he even took our call on Mother's Day when he was at dinner with his family. The commitment that he showed to us prior to the wedding made it clear to us that the event was in good hands.

I was an Event Manager for weddings here in Michigan for 4 years, so I will be the first to admit that I probably wasn't easy to handle, but John took my demands, added his own little twist, and turned our wedding weekend into a masterpiece.

I highly recommend a wedding at South Seas... you won't be disappointed.

I cannot rave about South Seas and their amazing staff enough! They made sure that every detail was perfect from day 1 of planning until we left the island after our wedding was over and our vacation ended. Their attention to detail exceeded my expectations as this was very important because we booked sight unseen and are from out of state. The resort is beautiful, their reception food was the best meal we had on island and the setting in every picture is amazing. South Seas (and particularly John Blaharski and John Dillis) exceeded all my expectations and gave my family & friends, as well as my husband and I, the best week and wedding we could have dreamed of. We only had guest list of 26 however there are accomodations for all size weddings. I highly recommend this venue and all their preferred vendors. They'll make your dream wedding come true also!

Amazing!! Could not be happier, everyone involved at South Seas was professional and did everything they could to make my day special! John Dillis and his staff were wonderful!! The day of the wedding he was all over the place checking on both me and the groom. We had an issue with our flowers and he came to the rescue and fixed it.

Also he was EXTREMELY accomodating to our requests while the girls were in the "get ready" room.

Servicie is A+ and the Venue is absolutely Beautiful. Love this place!

South Seas was the perfect venue for our destination wedding. We had a welcome dinner the night before on the beach and the wedding (Kings Crown). They had a great selection of vendors to use and were so easy to work with. Alicia our on site wedding planner was amazing. The wedding day I didn't need to worry about anything, they took care of it all. It rained on our wedding day and she had it all taken care of in the alternative location (Kings Crown). We couldn't have asked for better service. The food was excellent and the team was great. Our wedding guest kept gushing about how amazing the resort was. I would highly recommend this location for anyone who is looking to have their wedding in Captiva.

We started planning our wedding at South Seas in 2010 after a site visit. We were looking for an outdoor, near the water but not "beachy" site, in a classy, clean, location with lots for our guests to do. The catering/banquet team was professional, warm, and welcoming right from the start. Once we booked the event (on the day we visited) we were "handed over" to Alicia Minisce, who was our coordinator for what turned into a 4 day Wedding Weekend. She was phenomenal to work with- always responsive, and never pushy. She really listened to what we wanted and took interest in all of our details (the many, many boxes of them that arrived in her office mid April...). It wasn't until we arrived the week of our events that I realized just how wonderful she, and the Resort staff, really were. Our family and friends raved about the service, and they along with our wedding party, were treated like VIP's the entire week. There was a band of rain and wind that blew through the night of our outdoor, poolside welcome dinner, and Alicia was on top of things with a second location and coordinating all of the food, floral, entertainment, and lighting to go along with it. She reached out to my Maid of Honor and I never knew anything was even happening until they were done and everything was set to go.
Their Chef is beyond amazing, everyone raved about the food all weekend. He was so accommodating when we requested a Vegan option at our events- including a six course wine paring- he was up to the challenge and rocked it.
If you use South Seas, you'd be crazy to use a florist other than Ruth at Captiva Blooms, she is truly an artist. I was overwhelmed when I saw the centerpieces for each event, but particularly the Reception. She is amazing.
The resort Spa, Kay Casperson Lifestyle Spa, is also wonderful. This group of women is the most welcoming, personable bunch you'll ever work with- and be pampered by.
The waitstaff, especially Rosa and Ricardo, were so attentive and remembered our family members' names and favorite drinks throughout the week.
This venue was truly a shot in the dark- a google location that we figured we'd visit for a possible destination wedding location... and couldn't have been happier.
If you are looking for an elegant, yet fun and airy location- this is it. They have several different ceremony and reception locations, and we used several of them- all were wonderful. Alicia, however, is what made me sit down and write this review right away- she is amazing and deserves all the positive reviews possible. Highly recommend South Seas, and their wonderful event coordinator!!!

Extremely beautiful venue for the ceremony on the Kings Crown Lawn. Incliment weather was a risk - they provided a backup location - but the evening was perfect. The wedding coordinators were amazing at getting everyone organized and getting the place set up. They took a lot of stress off me. Our guests really enjoyed coming to this venue for a getaway weekend while coming to our wedding.

We had an amazingly romantic and fun wedding that we will never forget.
Rhonda and her team were amazing. Also, nearly all of our 100+ guests stayed at the resort and the staff made them all feel like VIPs.
We rented a beach house on the property for the wedding party and I would strongly suggest that everyone do that. It made the weekend that much better by giving us a place to spend more time with our guests and have a little "private" beach to enjoy. We had a little hiccup when we checked it but the South Seas staff were all over and took care if it immediately!!!
The value that you get at South Seas is amazing and the venue is stunning. Which made our wedding photos just amazing. People kept saying that our sunset wedding pictures looked like paintings.
I can't imagine a better beach wedding venue.

Magical place!

The South Seas was truly a magical place to have our destination wedding. Malissa was fantastic to work with and really worked with us to customize the event to what we wanted. We made it a beach vacation for our family and friends, and everyone raved about the resort, the rooms and the entire experience. We were told by many that it was the best destination wedding and overall jut best wedding they had ever been to. We can't wait to come back to celebrate something else!

Our wedding weekend was perfect! We had a welcome dinner, ceremony/reception and farewell breakfast. The set up of nearly time nibbles in our get ready rooms was great. They gave us a huge beach house to use for the day which we used for our first look. All our guests had an amazing time. They were very accommodating to special requests. Captain Ed with catering went beyond our expectations. Our money was well spent and we came in under budget. DJ Dan and Dominic were easy to work with. My only complaint is the resort seemed to be on island time with communication. They wanted to move our events indoors due to risk of rain but the weather held out. This resort is so beautiful. We can’t wait to go back for our anniversary.

We had a number of challenges with our wedding planning. A fluctuating guest list and a tropical storm were two of the main issues. The staff at South Seas was incredible, especially Lexie. South Seas has always been one of our favorite Resorts. When deciding to get married at South Seas we really did not question the results that we would get. Now that the wedding has passed, there is not one thing that we would have changed thru the whole weekend event. We hosted a sunset cruise on the Lady Chadwick on Friday evening, the wedding was held on Saturday evening, and a morning Mass was held on the beach before the Sunday Brunch with Mimosa and Bloody Mary bar for our guests. All of the food was 5 star, service was excellent, Lexie, our wedding planner was doing more than her job and in a very professional manner with nothing that she couldn't work out for us, and our guests. Many of our guests had not visited South Seas Resort and they were simply amazed at the beauty and many have already booked future vacations at South Seas.

I cannot say enough about the South Seas venue and staff. We met with countless venues while scouting for wedding sites, but we knew our search was over as soon as we were through the first South Seas Gate. Firstly, Captiva Island in and of itself is a beautiful draw. South Seas resort encompasses a huge portion of the island. We loved the idea of our guests having a true vacation while at our wedding. Many of our guests extended their stay 5+ days. It was a great opportunity to spend quality time with them before our event. Many are planning on traveling back every year now.
Planning with South Seas was a great experience, due to our amazing coordinator Lexie Shireman. We were so lucky to have Lexie walk us through the planning process. She was very responsive, knowledgeable, flexible, and a joy to work with. We threw A LOT of details and requests at her and our wedding turned out perfectly. Lexie mad our day perfect!
We hosted two main events at South Seas. We held a welcome reception Beach BBQ at the beach, and our wedding was at King’s Crown Lawn. Both of the locations were beautiful. The catering department at South Seas provided a vast menu to choose from and our guests are still talking about the food. The service was wonderful and the courses were timed perfectly with speeches and such. Our experience with South Seas was a dream come true

The wedding itself was WONDERFUL! The accommodations at South Seas however were honestly very lacking. The rooms are dated and poorly laid out. I can't speak for the other rooms, but the bayside villas are old and worn looking/feeling. We honestly could not have been more disappointed for the money and sadly could not/would not recommend a wedding at South Seas because of that.

Magical Wedding Venue

I had dreamt of getting married on Captiva Island since I was a little girl and Malissa and the staff at South Seas truly made the day better than I could have imagined. After postponing due to COVID, Malissa was incredibly helpful, answering all of my many questions, and made sure we had plans in place in case travel shut down again. We also had a ceremony location change due to weather on the day-of and ended up going with a plan C that honestly turned out better than plan A if that's possible! I would pick this venue over and over again, it was a magical place to celebrate. My husband and I will be traveling back to celebrate in this spot for years to come :)

Rhonda was great to work with. The staff made our rehearsal dinner and wedding so easy. Couldn't have asked for it to be any smoother! Planning from out of state had its challenges but everything turned out great

We originally planned to have our ceremony, dinner and reception on the Kings Crown Lawn @ South Seas under the café lights with the sun going down on November 1st, 2014. Everything was looking perfect until the weather got windy and a little chilly the morning of. We knew weather was the biggest unknown and that we couldn’t do anything about it That being said the whole thing turned out better than expected. The ceremony on the Kings Crown lawn was gorgeous and was exactly how we imagined it. Cocktail hour under the café lighting with the sun about to set was beautiful as well. We did dinner, first dances and the speeches outside as well then moved the party inside where we had the best time dancing and celebrating. It actually worked out for the best as the inside dance floor inside was plenty big and made it more intimate and fun. The resort as a whole is perfect for a destination wedding and we will be going back for several anniversaries with our families. Lexie was our coordinator and we loved her from the start. She really did a great job helping us plan the perfect destination wedding. She was very professional and easy to get a hold of. She was very calm and collective throughout the entire wedding day despite the weather not being 100% ideal. We highly recommend South Seas and Lexie!

South Seas Island Resort (specifically, King's Crown Lawn) was a picture-perfect location for our May wedding. The staff were responsive, helpful, and very pleasant to work with, including our key contact, Kelsey. The food was delicious and the service was fantastic - our meals were left heated while we took sunset photos, which was wonderful! The location was very sunny for a 5:30 pm wedding, so if your wedding is in the late spring, summer or early fall, you might want to consider a cover of some sort, as my husband was glaring into the sun during our vows. It was a beautiful venue, and we couldn't be more pleased. We took sunset photos at Sunset Cove, and while we have yet to see the photos, I can only imagine the colors and brilliance of them!

There was a threat of rain for the reception, so rather than having the reception outside on the lawn, we moved it inside the King's Crown house - even though it didn't rain, it was a great decision...and it was beautiful! The newly renovated floors and lighting really made the venue a spectacular site.

Only negative I can mention---The affiliate to South Seas, Kay Casperson's Salon, is definitely not worth the money (and the technicians lack the expertise that is acceptable) - make sure that you check into other locations for spas/wedding hair styling/makeup.

Overall, we were very pleased with our choice. Our guests had a great time, and we have splendid memories of our romantic, lovely, and fun wedding. Good luck with your choice!

My husband and I had our wedding here and while it was truly a fairytale wedding, there were a few things that we would have changed. Everyone was incredibly friendly and helpful however some of our details were overlooked. The resort is absolutely breath taking but I would stay a little bit more on top of the coordinators if you have specific requests.

South Seas provided an absolutely stunning backdrop to our beach sunset ceremony, followed by classy reception. Lexie was very helpful in all aspects of the planning process. It was difficult planning a wedding from so far away without having seen the venue or tasted the food, but Lexie made us more confident in our choices. There were some minor issues, but were handled quickly and expertly.
Our wedding exceeded our expectations....THANK YOU !!!!

We had our wedding at South Seas a few weeks ago. The scenery and resort is beautiful. The wedding was wonderful. The food was delicious. We had a few issues with details that were overlooked, and the responsiveness of the event staff was less than what I expected. We rented a few condos for the week and stayed with our families. The resort is incredible and the beaches are beautiful. We were so relaxed.
The Sales manager was not very responsive to our needs and made several commitments that were not held up. The overall communication and organization was below standards. We didn't have enough seating for our guests at the ceremony and some of our gifts and items went missing. We had to reach out multiple times to get someone to take care of it.
I don't want to take away from the amazing wedding and time we had. It was an incredible event and really was the best day of our lives. I just hope that in the future, South Seas does a better job of managing the small details and responding with a higher sense of urgency.

I agree with Abigail's review!

South Seas is an absolutely beautiful place to get married. It is a true tropical paradise, which is why we chose it for our destination wedding. Most of the staff was wonderful and accommodating. However, from the beginning we had issues. Their wedding team does not respond well to calls/emails. It actually took me over a week to get in touch with someone about booking my wedding. My friend is a wedding planner, so she helped me with the process (thank god). The wedding team at South Seas gave us a lot of conflicting information throughout the months of planning. Tell me one thing, then telling her another thing. It got very confusing, and I felt like we were constantly following up to make sure everything was taken care of. As Abigail wrote, their check in staff/hotel staff has a really hard time managing crowds. We had issues with our welcome bags and a lot of guests had problems with check in. We even had a problem with our own hotel room when we checked in.

On the day of, my friend coordinated everything, and thank goodness because otherwise we would have had many things wrong. The ceremony site was set up incorrectly TWICE. The cakes were not displayed right at the reception. We had to ask for champagne in the getting ready room (even though we already confirmed this 4 days earlier in our final meeting). Things like that. In the end, my wedding was amazing and to the guests it seemed perfect.

The biggest issue is that we found out the next day another wedding used our custom drapery, uplighting, chairs and even centerpieces without us knowing. We have still yet to hear back from the wedding department about this.

If you want a small, laid back wedding, South Seas is your place. I would not recommend it for a large wedding with lots of out of town guests, especially for how expensive it is and the additional 22% fee you have to pay on almost everything.

Decided to go to Captiva Island for our elopement and have our honeymoon at South Seas. They do have a great beach. However the Actual resort room was Not at all what we thought we were signing up for. Our room was dirty and dated. Maybe we should have stayed at the north end, but our beach villa in the south end did not give the feeling of a resort.

Sadly, when we signed our contract we were promised that someone would be with us from start to finish through our whole weekend coordinating every detail, and we were not. The person we signed with was let go a few months after we signed but we thought we were in good hands. So many details were missed and the bridal party (and us!) spent a good amount of time over the wedding weekend checking our own radar, hunting down the wedding coordinator, and trying to find out why the food we tasted and signed off on was not what we received at our reception when the coordinator was with another bride. We even had to carry our own boxes from our rooms to the event (gifts, welcome bags, wedding supplies) because 'it was check in time' and no one could help. The venue is great and banquet staff exceptional. The wedding/event coordinators seem understaffed and over booked. More than once I was told my coordinator was at another event when I needed her. Very disappointed with the service here especially since there is a 22% service fee charged on everything! I don't agree that I received service that justified 22%! They did not allow for a relaxing care-free weekend for me, my bridal party, or my family who had to help with details.

Spare yourself the trouble !!!

No doubt in saying South Seas is located in one of the most gorgeous locations in Florida. But your wedding day is so much more than that. It’s a day you expect things to run smoothly and as YOU planned. First of all my wedding started more than 30 minutes delayed due to them not communicating properly with vendors and not getting the trolley going on time. They decided to do EVERYTHING their way on my wedding day. Nothing was set up as requested and agreed upon, service was HORRIBLE so bad that my guests ate dry salads (no dressing) and no one who was dancing had cake passed out to their seat. My overpriced 3 course meal turned into a 1 course meal. One of my guests was locked in the outdoor bathroom for 3 HOURS ! & they ended up accidentally locking her in from the outside since they didn’t check or knock to see if anyone was inside.
I did my best to not let anything get to me on the day of my wedding. But man was that hard. And following the wedding it’s been a month and we are still trying to come to a conclusion. Truly, spare yourself the headache and heartache of having to deal with an unprofessional venue. For the amount I paid to have my wedding here I expected MUCH better service and coordination on their end.
