Chris is the best!!!

Chris was an amazing DJ for our wedding! He had playlists we created but also added his own picks and really knew how to keep the crowd going! Literally for 5 hours, the dance floor was never empty! He did a great job with everything, was responsive and professional. Got never ending compliments on our music from our guests!

Best DJ! Hire Chris Rao Now!

Chris Rao and Sound Wave Entertainment did an absolutely INCREDIBLE job DJing our wedding! Our dance floor was bumping from beginning to end, which is entirely a credit to Chris. Chris is super kind and easy to work with as well. My partner and I had extensive Must Play and Do Not Play lists, as well as a few complicated events during the wedding (Indian baraat entrance into first dance, surprise group dance on the dance floor), and Chris executed them just perfectly. The music flowed seamlessly between classic, 80s, hip-hop, Bollywood, and reggaeton songs. Moreover, Chris was an integral part of our wedding night as a whole being a success: When our wedding was falling behind schedule, Chris worked so helpfully with our vendors and made sure our speeches and reception continued onward and smoothly. Chris was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we feel lucky that we were able to have him DJ our wedding. My partner and I even say that we wish we could throw another party just so we could hire Chris again! We highly recommend Chris and Sound Wave Entertainment if you are looking for a DJ for a wedding or any other event.

Phenomenal DJ experience!!!

Chris was nothing short of a miracle. He stayed with us despite us having to postpone due to COVID - keeping us on and working with us all the way from early 2020 through our big day on April 30th, 2022. He was so nice, responsive, knowledgeable, upfront, honest, and provided amazing music choices. He chose a fantastic playlist within all the numerous parameters we set, mixed the processional beautifully, and MC'ed the reception flawlessly. *Chefs kiss* Everyone had the absolute best time, in large part to his working the crowd and knowing what dance songs to push next. He is punctual, diligent, and an absolute must to hire for your next event or wedding!

Awesome DJ!

Chris was amazing to work with for our wedding DJ! He was very responsive and let choose what music we wanted to play. He took the time to have calls with us to get to know us as a couple and personalize our day. He provided back up microphones for our ceremony and even stayed to play music during our late night social hour. His pricing is extremely affordable and he was so great to work with. Great Wedding DJ

Overall, Chris was great to work with. He had great reviews on here and came recommended by our venue. We had a 45 minute call prior to the ceremony to go over music tastes and the timeline. He provided some great feedback and suggestions, which I really appreciated. He was also flexible with me picking some of the songs later because I couldn't make up my mind. He helped with setting up the ceremony music for our string band, which was really nice, along with the microphones. He also dealt with me requesting music at the end of the night after some adult beverages, so he deserves a big thank you! I would highly recommend him for any wedding!

Soundwave DJ - THE BEST experience!

From our initial phone call, through the actual event, Chris went above and beyond to make our daughter's wedding a memorable and special day. Email, phone and zoom meetings to prepare were convenient, fun and productive; coming up with ceremony, cocktail hour and reception music lists was collaborative and executed perfectly. Especially during this pandemic, when many of the plans had to be altered, and size of our reception decreased, Chris kept the dance floor moving and exciting (and socially distanced) and was the perfect Emcee. Having heard of nightmare DJ stories, Chris was the exact opposite -- professional mics and sound equipment and an excellent mix of music. Highly recommended!!

Chris Rao is a godsend!

Like many other brides this year, we were disappointed when the pandemic hit and we had to cancel our original wedding plans. We decided to replan a small ceremony and are so grateful for Chris and Soundwave entertainment for making it an amazing day. Chris helped organize the outline for the ceremony and reception which was so helpful - at the time I was so stressed and worried about having to cancel again that I couldn’t even think about what wedding round 2 would be like - and Chris really helped bring it to life. His music choices were spot on and kept people on the dance floor. I wasn’t sure that we’d even have dancing at all during COVID times, but Chris made it happen and all in a way that felt safe. He was a huge part of making our wedding happen and we are so grateful to him for all the support!!

Hire Chris, Seriously!

First, let me say that having a wedding during COVID comes with challenges. Having to push our wedding back by a few months was so stressful, especially not knowing if our already hired vendors would still be available. Not only was Chris SUPER nice and professional, but he made sure he was available for our new date and kept in contact with me every step of the way! He met with my husband and I a few weeks prior to come up with the perfect timeline for our wedding, get our playlist (including songs we did not want played) and made sure he had everyone’s name pronounced correctly. At our wedding, he transitioned so smoothly between dinner, toasts, cake, etc... Even though most people were hesitant to dance due to social distancing, Chris kept the music up and we had the best time dancing! Brides, you will not regret hiring Chris. We seriously could not have picked a better DJ. 🥂

Could not have asked for a better DJ!

Chris did an incredible job as the DJ at my wedding! He was extremely organized, always had perfect timing with songs, and very flexible. We had on and off rain/wind on our wedding day, and he was prepared for small delays in ceremony time and adjustments that had to made throughout the night due to the weather. He did a great job selecting songs based on my husband and I's preferences, as well as incorporating songs that we specifically requested that were important to us. I would absolutely book him again for an event!

Absolute Best Experience!

Chris was a joy to work with! First of all, the pricing was very reasonable, especially for the area. I was trying to coordinate an east coast wedding while still living on the west coast and Chris was so gracious and easy to work with. He took our song preferences and then crafted an amazing playlist that we and our guests loved dancing to. It made the day that much more special seeing all of our loved ones having a blast. He was absolutely fantastic to work with and I would highly recommend his services!

Great DJ- Very Organized

Chris was fantastic! Chris Rao was the DJ for our wedding at Bluemont Vineyard and definitely made the night go smoothly without skipping a beat! Everyone loved the music and he was such a pleasure to work with. Clever, attentive, upbeat - fantastic all around!

We chose Chris for our wedding based on the recommendation of a friend. He met with us weeks before the ceremony and made sure we had the perfect setup and all the songs we wanted (and omitted the ones we didn't). On the wedding day, he was a true professional, hitting all the right notes, from getting the party started to respecting an emotional moment between me and my mom. He even surprised my wife (a James Madison alum) by playing the JMU fight song, unprompted, and getting all her fellow alumni to the floor. We have absolutely nothing bad to say about Chris - book him and you'll have a great time!

Chris is a great DJ!

Chris was great to work with leading up to our wedding! He was very responsive and easy to communicate with, and he was helpful in making recommendations for songs when we were having a hard time coming up with ideas. He was a great emcee and made sure to pronounce all of our friends' names (even the very complicated ones) accurately. He played a good mix of slower songs, lively songs, older songs, and modern songs during the reception. Our guests all enjoyed the music and were dancing all night long!

Great to work with!

Chris was great to work with!! In the planning stage, he was very responsive and organized. He gave us an outline to work with that was very helpful. We had this idea of how we wanted the music to be at our wedding so that it represented us as a couple but would also be enjoyable for our guests. We provided him with a list of songs that were our "must hear" songs. Chris played those songs and also picked complimentary songs that we loved. After our wedding, everyone commented that the music was great and that it was the most fun, laid back wedding they had ever been to! Exactly what we wanted and we couldn't be happier!!

The best dj ever

I cannot imagine having a better DJ than Chris. He handled our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception and it all went perfectly. He is very responsive, attentive, and professional. It is a worry free experience! I was struggling making a lot of song decisions and was worried about having the right music to fit the vibe we wanted, but he really made it easy. We were able to pick songs we knew we wanted but also lean heavily on his skill. He really knows how to keep the celebration and flow of the event going! We were so thankful to have him during the wedding. We are still getting compliments about Chris and the music a month later. He has a great personality, is very easy-going, and is all around fantastic to work with. I would strongly recommend Chris!!

Chris is the BEST wedding DJ!

We are SO happy that we chose Chris to be our wedding DJ! A few highlights:
- When it rained just as our ceremony was supposed to begin, he quickly switched the music playing to "Don't Worry, Be Happy." Our guests couldn't stop talking about how funny it was! Then, when it stopped raining and a rainbow came out, he of course played "Somewhere Over the Rainbow." Everyone loved it!
- He listened to our music choices 100%. Every single song that came on was one of our favorites. Our guests couldn't stop talking about how good the music was - and our dance party was epic.
- He even listened to our speeches and made song choices based on them. When my best friend mentioned in her speech that we listened to Ace of Base when we were growing up, he put on Ace of Base to get the party started!
- Chris was always friendly, professional, and pleasant to work with. I truly couldn't have asked for a better DJ (and somehow, even with all of that, he's affordable)!

The best of the best

Chris was recommended to me from multiple acquaintances. From the various emails and the first time we met him in person, my husband, Michael and I were extremely impressed with his responsiveness, price, and organization. When we finally met in person, we were relieved to know we were in good hands with Chris. We had expressed how we had a very diverse guest list (country, Cuban, rockers) and had included song requests on our guests' RSVPs. Chris helped us with our timeline and had a lot of wonderful song suggestions on the things we were struggling with( I had been stressing over the timeline... it was like no sweat to him!) When wedding day came along, he worked harmoniously with our day of coordinator (who was my aunt working pro-bono) and was very flexible to adjusting the timeline as we needed it. There are not enough good things to say about Chris Rao from Soundwave Entertainment. He is so professional and responsive. He really customizes your wedding to be like you and your significant other. He does not play one soundtrack for every wedding. He put so much time into meeting up with us before the wedding and perfecting our playlist. He lets you customize your songs and much or as little as you want. If you want someone who listens, but also knows how to get the dance floor moving, book with Chris! He is so polite and so sweet. Chris was hands down the best DJ in the area. I had worked as a wedding coordinator for about 2 years and Chris was one of the DJs that would play at our venue very frequently. I had met many DJ's in those two years, but when it came time for me to choose mine for my wedding, there was no competition for Chris. He is very responsive, has a great personality, and just does an amazing job. I knew that by choosing him to DJ my wedding I would not have to worry about the ceremony music, the introduction, or the reception. He had it all organized!! (which is such a relief when you are planning your wedding) For many quests, the music and dancing is always something they will remember. Chris kept the party going and people on the dance floor until the very end. If there is ever an event that I need a DJ at, Chris will hands down be my first pick. I recommend him to absolutely anyone!!!!

Great DJ! Professional from the start, we used Chris for our ceremony music as well as reception. He was amazing--he listened to what we wanted and the suggestions offered when we couldn't think of a song for a certain moment were perfect! He knows how to "read a dancefloor" to keep the momentum going. To keep your grandmother as entertained and happy as your 12 year old nephew. DJ Chris Rao did a wonderful job at our wedding. Leading up to the big day, he was super easy to plan/schedule with and understood the vibe we were going for. He provided all the mics we needed for the ceremony (strings musicians and officiant), and he kept the reception moving smoothly afterward. He's the best kind of DJ -- one that has great energy and plays great music, but who also stays on the sideline and doesn't steal your spotlight (for lack of a better term!). He also works on the fly, incorporating music my sister referenced during her maid-of-honor speech into the playlist. We had given him a short playlist to build off of, and he totally understood what else would be a good fit. I'd recommend Chris to any couple!

We booked Chris for our wedding after hearing about him from a friend. He was better than we could have ever imagined. He made it so easy... we picked a few songs and he did the rest. He knew exactly which songs would get our guests out on the dance floor (which was packed) and exactly what songs we would like from the few we pre-selected. Chris was also so accommodating, last minute we requested an additional hour and he was flexible and happy to do it. We would recommend Sound Wave Entertainment to anyone and everyone. I honestly don't think there is a better dj out there. We would not have wanted anyone else for our special day.

We used Chris Rao as the DJ for our wedding in the beginning of November. We couldn't have asked for a better DJ- he was super responsive and helpful for our special requests for entrances/garter song, etc. Chris was also very easy-going when we had some changes to the ceremony location, etc. We chose Chris as our DJ after seeing him DJ a friends wedding and we were so thankful we did. We would recommend Chris to anyone!!!

Chris Rao, Soundwave Entertainment, and DJ Dan deserve a thousand thanks for pulling through as our MVP wedding vendors!

About a month out from our date, my fiancé and I had the unfortunate experience of having to terminate our contract with another DJ who we had booked for our September 2017 wedding.
I won't get too far into details, but this original DJ was a referral from a friend and ended up being awful to work with - completely unresponsive and unreliable.

When we decided to make the call to look for another DJ last-minute, we did not have high hopes that we would find someone that would: 1. Have our date available, 2. Work with our budget (which was limited because we were unable to get our original deposit back from the first DJ), and 3. Pull together all of the details involved in months of planning in just a few weeks, without ever getting to meet us in person...
Soundwave Entertainment delivered in a BIG way on all of the above!

I was referred to Chris, the owner, by our wedding coordinator, who had worked with him at several events.
Not only was Chris responsive to my inquiry within just a few hours, he went out of his way to help coordinate one of his DJs, Dan Trenchor, to work with us, even though he personally was not available for our date.
He was also beyond generous in working with us on our budget and making sure we were getting everything we had originally planned on for our wedding entertainment - ceremony audio, lighting, etc.

Within 24 hours, we had a signed contract, turning what felt like a potentially disastrous situation into a decision we felt completely comfortable making.

DJ Dan was AWESOME - from working with us to quickly turn around song lists and logistics in just a few short weeks of planning, to his actual execution on site during our wedding reception.
Our guests loved his personality and great variety of songs, and he executed the flow of the reception perfectly.

Chris Rao was an incredible DJ at our wedding. We were the 5th couple in our family to use him and he was amazing yet again! When meeting with us, he helped give context and advise on the timeline we had started, giving realistic estimates and helping us think through items we would have otherwise missed. And then the reception...AMAZING! First, he was always there to make sure my husband and I had everything we needed - water, food, a break - and played perfect music the entire time. Chris kept the party going with great music and the perfect rhythm - slowing things down when needed and speeding them back up to fill up the dance floor. Our family and friends had an absolute blast and we can't wait to be at another Chris Rao wedding soon!

Chris Rao at Sound Wave Entertainment will forever be remembered in my household! Chris was the DJ at our wedding in April 2017! Before our big day, Chris sat down with us twice to ensure all our details were addressed. His ability to ease my nerves was remarkable. My indecisiveness was no issue for Chris. He helped us select a killer must play list and he was able to read my crowd like no other. I think every bride and groom dread having an empty dance floor at their wedding, but with Chris, ours was poppin' all night long. Needless to say, the tunes played before, during and throughout our wedding were chosen so wonderfully by Chris and his DJ-like ability to conduct a room is so reassuring! I would recommend Chris to anyone looking for a DJ to make their wedding unforgettable!

Chris Rao is the most professional, knowledgeable and fun DJ in all of Virginia, DC and Maryland. He had great suggestions when we needed ceremony music help and took no time to set his equipment up (at a venue he had never even been to before). He had our guests dancing allllll night long and kept our wedding running on schedule just as we had asked. We met with him about 2 weeks before and he walked us through the entire evening so he was familiar with our wants and needs. It made us feel completely comfortable with him and we fully trusted he'd play the music we like. I would recommend Chris and Sound Wave Entertainment for any wedding, party, outing or even a dang barbecue- He is hands down the the best in the biz!!!

Chris was absolutely amazing at our wedding! We had a hot day out on the lake and he made the ceremony, cock tail hour and reception perfect! He had big shoes to fill as he has DJed many of our friends weddings in the past. Each time he showed up ready to throw a great party. We had no complaints!
He took charge and organized the reception from beginning to end, even helped get my crazy bridal party in line for our introductions.
He mixed two songs together for our first dance, a slow "To the moon and back" with the upbeat" Head over boots" just PERFECTLY for us to dance to.
He helped me pull off the best garter toss surprise, I surprised my now husband with an airplane bottle of fireball hidden in my garter. (Brad's favorite drink) Chris dropped the "Fireball" song right at the right moment. Turned out perfect.

The address listed on the webpage is misleading- they are located in Gainesville and can travel to northern VA. Contact them they are great! We had Chris as our dj and we loved him. He kept the music going and the people dancing! Even when the groom requested his sports team's anthem, Chris was able to find it and play it. He met us free of charge before our wedding, just so we could meet him. He even gave us advice on other vendors. Details of services: offered a discount if you paid in full, provided indoor and outdoor speakers, microphones and outdoor microphones.

Soundwave Entertainment was the best choice we could have made for entertainment and lighting at our wedding! Wendy was amazing to work with and has a heart of pure gold. We had originally hired a band that did not work out and in a panic I e-mailed her if they still had availability for our date this close. Not only did she get back to me right away to confirm they did, she called me from the airport on her day off because she did not want me to stress waiting for her response. Our uplighting for the event was beautiful and perfectly captured the romantic feel I wanted for the ballroom. Vinny and his assistant DJ Ray were so fun to work with and did a great job entertaining the crowd and keeping the flow going. Vinny is extremely talented and kept our dance floor full the entire night. We had family members I would have never guessed to be out there breaking it down on the dance floor. That was all because of Vinny and his choices in music and mixing capabilities. There was never a dull “might as well grab a drink” moment for anyone and everyone had such a great time! Thank you Vinny, Ray and Wendy for a night we will never forget. We truly had the time of our lives! I highly recommend Soundwave Entertainment for your wedding DJ and uplighting!

Sound Wave Entertainment was a preferred vendor for our daughter's reception place. I checked out their website and was drawn to the DJ Chris Rao. I contacted him and my daughter, her fiance, and I all met with him. He was so nice and laid back - I knew he would be perfect for the reception. He did not disappoint. With a few glitches in the evenings schedule, Chris informed me what was going on and somehow kept everything running smoothly. After dinner, the dance floor remained crowded - everyone had such a good time!! Chris even kept the youngest guests entertained with glow necklaces or bracelets. It was such a fun evening thanks to Chris. I've already booked him for my next daughter's wedding in May! I would highly recommend him!

Chris Rao was the Dj we met at EverGreen's Bridal Expo this past Winter in Haymarket, VA. He was so laid back and friendly. He really makes the whole stressful wedding process seem like a breeze. I wanted to book him on the spot, and did! When my Fiancée met him, he said the same thing about how Chris really puts you at ease and lets you know he is there for you every step-of-the-way. Chris was so patient waiting up to just a few days before our wedding for the final song choices. He didn't miss a beat on the wedding day, and we really couldn't have asked for a better DJ/coach to walk us through our reception:) We highly recommend Chris Rao and his company. And might I add, we never gave him a song list per se, but informed we would like a mix of 70s rock, 80s, old skool hip-hop and current/modern songs. He had the perfect balance of music that everyone wanted to dance to, and I even had a few people ask me for the playlist, haha. Thanks again Chris, for making our wedding day so enjoyable.

We loved working with Chris. He was very professional, was able to use the songs I wanted where it was important to me and provide the perfect songs where I left it up to him to choose. My friends and family were up dancing the ENTIRE night and I kept hearing afterwards how much fun they had.

My husband and I actually met Chris shortly after getting engaged ourselves at our friends' wedding which we were both a part of. We had such a great time dancing away at our friends' wedding we asked them for their DJ's name. Our friends has nothing but positive things to say about Chris and raved about how organized and helpful he was coordinating the evening for them. Up until then, I had no idea how much the DJ plays a part on your timeline and event coordinating. At our details meeting he listened to what types of music we wanted and really paid attention to what type of crowd we had on the dance floor and selecting the perfect songs--everyone had a great time! Chris was also great working with me, the groom, my photographers, and venue coordinators. Again, not something you think about but you don't want your DJ to announce your father daughter dance and your dad to be nowhere in sight. Or, announce the cake cutting ceremony when your photographer took a moment to use the restroom and wasn't able to capture the photo. He really pays attention to detail and works with everyone in a professional manner to make sure you have the most fun reception! I would highly recommend Chris to new brides to be and other customers with DJ/music needs alike!

Chris Rao was our DJ and he was absolutely AMAZING. To make it simple, our guests had so much fun that after the last song played everyone chanted "one more song! One more song!" I've been to other weddings where the DJ struggles to get the guests involved and moving, but Chris did an amazing job! He met with us to discuss the vibe we wanted and truly put our vision to work. He was able to mix in music that would appease the older crowd, as well as the younger crowd. The father-daughter and mother-son dances were done tastefully and did not drag out too long.

When my husband and I met Chris to go over our timeline and song choices, I could tell our day was going to be stress and worry free. I cannot stress enough what a wonderful DJ Chris was to work with. Our wedding what truly magical with several unique events and inclusions, and Chris orchestrated the entire evening absolutely perfectly with not one hiccup. Moreover, the entire party was jumping all night long. I don't think one person wasn't on the dance floor and it was because he played the right music to excite our guests. Chris met with us prior to our big day to discuss and plan the essential details. We were unsure about what songs to use during our processional and recessional; he took the time to talk with us, find out what we liked, and suggested the perfect songs! Our guests were up and dancing the majority of the time during our ceremony.

Chris was a great DJ. We felt like he truly cared about us, listened to our wants and needs, and went above and beyond to make sure that our big day was amazing. Everyone had a great time!

Chris was AMAZING!!! He listened to what we wanted, he incorporated our unique style into all elements of the evening and he played all of the songs on our Must-Play list (and none on our Do-Not-Play list). I danced all night long!!! The hits kept coming!

We had some concerns that the sounds/base would echo and sound awful at our large venue, but Chris made it work and it sounded nothing but amazing.

If ever I need DJ services in the future, I will definitely be hiring Chris again!!!!

Chris and all of the staff at Sound Wave are excellent! Chris was extremely helpful and professional, and we received so many compliments about his services on our wedding day. A newly engaged couple that attended our wedding is booking them for their own wedding! Everyone had an amazing time, and the dance floor was packed the entire night! We first discovered Chris Rao at a friend's wedding at Fort Belvoir before we were engaged. As soon as my groom popped the question, I knew we had to hire Chris for our big day. He has been such a professional, patient, and friendly person to work with from initial planning to the big day. He was also excellent at keeping the events of our wedding, cocktail hour, and ceremony on track throughout the entire evening. My family and friends love to dance, and he did an excellent job of playing our requests and also mixing in a few tunes of his own choosing to complete the playlist. He was extremely easy to work with, and really made our day such a fabulous event. We also discovered that he is very familiar with the staff where we held our event, which was another plus when we were planning our wedding. On top of handling all of the details independently for our big day, he showed up professionally dressed and really knew exactly how to conduct himself. Chris is incredibly professional, and is an expert in his line of work.

Chris Rao was our DJ. He was awesome! Chris arrived early even though we didn't need a DJ for the actual ceremony he came to set up early. It was pouring like a girl on her wedding day's worst nightmare outside but since we chose this beautiful outside vineyard for our wedding and had done all this planning we decided rain or shine it was happening outside. Chris, the amazing guy that he was offered to stand outside in the rain and hold an umbrella over me and my dress since he didn't have anything to do during the ceremony! how sweet is he! I mean he wasn't even being paid yet! Anyway my dad actually held the umbrella for me so he didn't have to but the thought was just so nice! I also remember him asking people inside like other vendors and stuff if they needed help with anything (and this is all the stuff he did having nothing to do with what he was there to do!)

We pretty much told him a couple songs we really wanted to hear and which songs we hose for the first dances and entrances and such and then gave him the types of music my husband and I like and let him have free reign with it and he really did an amazing job from start to finish. Even just the types of music played during our sit down dinner were great. He was great mixing country/classic rock/ pop/hip hop/ everything! From the moment that we opened up the dance floor it was non stop. we had so much fun dancing the night away and so did every one else. Chris was an awesome DJ and he really made the our wedding night a spcial night!

Chris R. and Chris W. are both fantastic! We worked with both of them prior our wedding, though Chris W. was the DJ at our wedding. He was great to work with, and did a fantastic job of keeping people on the dance floor all night long. He kept us on schedule the entire evening, so I didn't have to worry about that, and could just enjoy the day. I'm not a fan of DJs who "become the show" and Chris was outstanding. We heard from many guests who thought he had the perfect presence.

I have been an events manager for three different wedding venues in the NoVa region and Chris has been on all three of the preferred vendor lists because of his professionalism, quality of service, and ability to get everyone out on the dance floor. Their fun personalities, creative ideas, promptness, and professionalism make them top vendors overall in the event industry. (This includes photographers, bakeries, videographers, etc.) I have worked over 250 events and worked with a huge number of DJs and Chris/Soundwave is by far the best, which is why I chose him to DJ my wedding.

We LOVED Chris. He was so great to work with. He kept everything on schedule and flowing smoothly. He really made our night perfect. Sadly, the father of one of my bridesmaid's passed away the day before the wedding and she had to fly home to be with her family. Chris was sweet enough to set her up on his ipad in the front row so she could "still be there." Then she got carried around the reception so she could be there too!! That was such a thoughtful gesture and it helped us all take away a little of her sadness.

Our DJ was Chris Rao and he was AMAZING! He was professional, fun to work with and offered music selections that fit our theme. Our guests loved how he kept the party going! The dance floor was NEVER empty which is exactly what we wanted.

We had Chris from Sound Wave Entertainment DJ for our wedding and reception. He was WONDERFUL! My husband and I did not give him much guidance on what we wanted to play, just the type of music we liked and I did not hear one song I did not like the entire day. Chris Rao did a fabulous job at our wedding reception. I had put together a list of must play songs, requests for specific guests, and a don't play list and he really stuck to it. Adding in lots of other great wedding songs that really made for a great party. Half of my husband's family is from Austria and he even on the spot found a traditional German wedding dance song that was really fun for our international guests. He kept the event on schedule, was dressed professionally, and just always had a smile on his face which goes a long way to say that he really enjoys what he does and it's not just another wedding for him. CHRIS IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!! if we ever have another large event where a DJ is needed we will be giving chris a call real quick! Best decision of the entire wedding! Everything ran as smoothly as possible even with a few medical emergencies with Chris' help, we got everything back on track and made a smooth transition to the rest of the night. The music played was great, ceremony and reception were both beautiful and we have most of the night to thank Chris for! HIGHLY RECCOMENDED we were so so pleased!

Chris Rao was great! He was fun and professional and did a great job playing softer music during dinner, music for older guests earlier in the evening, and music for younger people later in the night. He dutifully adhered to my long do-not-play list (despite the pleas from my some of my guests!) I appreciated that when my guests begged to hear the cha-cha slide, he conceded only when I was in the bathroom:) He helped make my wedding perfect--a big thanks to Chris!

Chris did an excellent job as DJ for our ceremony and reception. He even made a last minute change to our ceremony music the night before the wedding. Our wedding was right after Thanksgiving and Chris drove back from his family gathering a day early to be at our rehearsal.

Chris Rao was awesome! He was extremely organized, helped us with our reception timeline, and even sent us song suggestions when we were having trouble making our selections. Chris was a fantastic DJ, took care of everything on our wedding day, and made sure we didn’t have to worry about a thing. Our guests were up and dancing all evening! Aside from our photographers, Chris was the only vendor that we had no concerns about. He responded to all of our emails promptly and took care of everything the day of our wedding! He provided us with a great timeline that allowed us to have more time for dancing and entertained our guests! Thanks Chris!

Chris MCed and DJed our wedding and was exemplary. Start to finish through the process of working with Chris, his experience and professionalism was apparent by walking us through all aspects of his involvement and value in our wedding. Chris was so great in helping us determine the flow of events and understanding how best to order our ceremony and reception. When it came to the music, Chris did a wonderful job in gauging the crowd and picking up on themes and styles of music to keep folks – young and old – out on the dance floor. Of all the vendors that went into making our wedding happen, Chris was one of the few at the top who really knocked it out of the park for us. Chris Rao was the dj for our recent wedding and I'm so glad we used his services! He is such a nice person and just made our event fun and upbeat. Finding a DJ is extremely important for your big day because it really can make a huge difference on how your reception flows. The minute I met Chris at a bridal show at Bristow Manor, I knew he was the perfect guy for the job. He absolutely did not disappoint me. I loved that the dance floor was packed the entire night. Our night flew by because we had so much fun! Chris did an amazing job both during our ceremony and reception. He played a variety of music and also took requests. Chris Rao did our wedding and he was the best DJ we could have asked for. We were a little unconvinced that their rates would be worth it but after the wedding we were more than grateful for what we received for the cost. He kept the kids at our wedding happy and dancing after they finished dinner by playing hip songs that kids know from movies like Shrek while the parents finished their meals and then got everyone involved seamlessly. He played just the right music to please everyone and made sure to throw in the songs that we wanted to hear as well. The best part was that he was easily available for whatever you needed him for and also that he did not need too much direction from us and I value a vendor that can please everyone without the customer having to be too involved in the planning. Everyone had a great time and we highly recommend his services to all future bride and grooms.

We chose Sound Wave DJ because of all the great reviews we heard about them! Jim was our DJ, he was awesome. Everyone at the wedding really had a great time with him. Not to mention the fact that he can sing. He left no one out and was very professional! They day was perfect, and we could not have asked for a better DJ. Jim was our hero at our wedding. Simply put. Not only did he DJ, but he sings BEAUTIFULLY!! -- Something he did not tell us beforehand, therefore, it was such a wonderful surprise! He ran the whole show, literally! He entertained, he provided props to dance with, he orchestrated and coordinated, he managed to have the entire wedding from beginning to end, simply FLOW... But the MOST IMPORTANT thing Jim did, was: HE GOT PEOPLE TO DANCE THAT NEVER, EVER DANCE!!! Now, that's when you KNOW a DJs good at what he does. He's a good-looking, sharp-dressed and quick-witted guy, too!!! He made our reception a TRUE PARTY!! Our wedding reception would have been a disaster, had Jim not been there. Jim and Sound Wave Entertainment was excellent for my wedding. I wanted a DJ that did not play cheesy music and would be able to play to the tastes of the crowd. I wanted the dancing to be a key element to my wedding and wanted my guests to remember how much fun they had. Jim definately helped achieve that! The boas and hats were a big hit and got everyone out on the dance floor. There was a variety in the music played which kept everyone on the dance floor the whole night. He also sang a few tunes and interacted with the guests. He helped me achieve my perfect wedding and would highly recommend him to anyone having a wedding!

Jim Hester did an AWESOME job as the DJ at our daughter's wedding reception. His performance exceeded our expectations. He got everyone involved, he brought props, he did it ALL. I would NOT hesitate to recommend him to anyone for their special day. He got input from the bride and groom as to what songs they wanted played and when. He added his own "spice" which really kept people going. No one wanted to leave when the reception was over - it could have lasted all night! Chris was great from start to finish. He came highly recommended from the venue I was using for my wedding and I can see why. He was easy to work with and very quick to respond to questions and he helped ensure everything went as planned day of. He was also flexible to last minute changes and song requests and was absolutely wonderful to my niece and nephew in terms of listening to their requests and showing them his sound equipment. Dan was the DJ for our wedding and he was fantastic! It rained right before our outdoor ceremony, so we really appreciate the fact that he was willing to set up in the rain and get his equipment a bit wet. During our reception, he kept the dance floor busy the whole night and even got the older folks dancing for a while! Chris Rao and Dan Trencher were so professional, patient and very organized when my mom and I met with them. Chris provided the music for the ceremony and the reception. I met with him two times before the wedding and worked out all the details. Chris was always available to answer my questions, give me vendor ideas, provide tickets to bridal shows, and provide me ideas for the reception. Chris became my wedding coordinator for the day and handled the schedule for the day with the reception staff. He had the timeline for the whole event and did a great job keeping things moving. We got ahead of schedule before the reception, so he adjusted when certain dances and events were going to happen. I didn't have to worry about anything during the wedding. Chris did a great job. The dance floor was never empty. We had kids, parents, grandparents, and friends dancing all night long even though they hadn't planned on it. He had a great variety of music and did a great job figuring out what the guests wanted to hear.

Chris Rao was a fantastic DJ and kept the dance floor going at our wedding. He even got on the floor to show everyone how to do the electric slide. :) Chris had a fun personality that went over very well with both of us. He was willing to meet when we needed to and was very easy to work with when it came to music selections and timing.
He also set up the speaker system for the outdoor ceremony and everything was flawless from the speakers for the music at the end of the ceremony to the mic provided for our readers.
All in all, we can't complain. He wasn't always quick to respond to emails, but we would recommend using Chris as a DJ to anyone because he was GREAT!

Our wedding went really smoothly due to our DJ, Soundwave Entertainment. As with any event, unexpected surprises came up and our DJ made the party with his entertainment and character. One little boy came up to me the next day and said "they treat kids like royalty," Thanks to Soundwave entertainment guests of all ages all had a great time! Helped Keep the Party Going at Our Wedding!

Chris helped bring the party to life at our wedding. We knew we wanted to get as many people out on the dance floor as possible. Chris was great and keeping the timeline going, making announcements as needed, and reading the crowd. We have a crazy group who really likes to let loose when the right song hits, and Chris hit the right songs. I’ve never seen my brother dance like he did the night of my wedding. Chris’s process was easy. My husband and I made a Spotify playlist and added songs as the months leading up to the wedding went by. Then once we were a few months out, we shared that playlist with Chris and he used it as inspiration for our wedding. It was nice to hear some of the songs from the playlist, but even better to hear some songs we hadn’t thought of that worked in seamlessly with the rest of our music style. We were very pleased with Chris’s execution. We wanted someone who was fun but not cheesy, professional but not rigid. Chris was perfection!

We met Chris from Sound Wave at an open house at the venue we chose for our wedding, and liked him immediately. We were told he frequently DJs at the venue, so he was very familiar with it, and well prepared to have the outdoor wedding we hoped to have. He seemed like the perfect choice, and I am thrilled we did. We found out that not only does he frequently DJ there, he knows everyone that works there and is comfortable enough to be able to help out in anyway he can around the venue. The best man in our wedding also asked him to emcee his wedding after attending ours. Chris walked around the reception(since he was the emcee and not the dj he didn't have to stay with his equipment the whole time, he let the band handle the music) and found us to say hello. We met with him about a week before the wedding to hash out details, and he was able to meet us less than a mile from our house. We were't particular about what music we wanted for the ceremony(or should I say we had no idea what we wanted) and he had lots of options to play for us and plenty of suggestions for both traditional and non-traditional routes. The only semi-negative thing I have to say was that it was kind of difficult to get ahold of him, but it was never a problem for us. Chris was very friendly and professional and seemed to have top of the line equipment to make our night unforgettable. Many of the guests have told us what a great time they had, and that the music was fantastic. Chris did a spectacular job at both our wedding as well as the wedding we attended after.
