Our experience with Mareen and the facilities at Shangri La were fabulous. From beginning to the day of, the communication between myself and Mareen was always very professional and she always responded to any questions I had in a timely manner which I truly appreciated. The banquet hall provided decorations for the reception hall and everyone thought they were fabulous. The sweet table and head table was decked out in crystals and the whole feel of the room was perfect. Everyone enjoyed the food and I was told that the service was great. My only complaint is that we felt that the kids menu was higher than we would have thought. Other than that the pricing of the reception was very fair especially since it included decoration.
Waiters and waitresses were always attentive to any empty glasses and asked if people wanted a refill for wine or water (pop and other drinks were all inclusive at the bar). Our wedding was about 150 people and the room we were in (Beaumont) easily accomodated that number without people feeling crowded. One of the major features of this room I liked was that it was its own separate room and not partitioned off of a bigger room. Down the hall another Christmas party/dance was happening and we heard nothing from that group. Overall, my experience with Shangri La was very good and I would totally recommend other couples to check them out.

I was so excited to have booked a garden venue, but I have to let you all know that working with the coordinators at Shangri-la was just terrible. I saw this other review saying that working with Mareen was amazing but her service to my fiancée and I was disastrous. Let me just sum it up like this:
    Pros:
-beautiful space. : We used the white tent
    -Cost:
    - Mareen did call you back promptly when you left a message

    now for the real review:
    Cons:
    - customer service: From Day 1 there was no warm welcome, no "congrats!" no " let me show you around" no " Hi! :)" . It was such a cold reception. At first I thought I was being sensitive and perhaps spoiled from my visits to so many venues, but to be quite honest it was pretty bad, my sweet and kind fiancee was even surprised and politely asked me " are you sure you really need that tent" which was his way of asking me " Why the F** do we have to work with those rude people!?" . my heart was set on a tent location and that was the only one available so I had no choice.
The staff's attitude didn't get any better as time went on and I just kept my mouth shut for fear of them sabotaging my wedding. Every time I asked a simple question i always felt as though I was a burden on them or that I was too demanding. I never felt reassured a single time and towards the wedding day , i really regretted booking this venue.
    - day of coordination :oh God. what a disaster.
we had a buffet line and as you know, people come back for seconds or thirds. Well, the plates ran out and when my caterer requested the waiters to bring some more out; mareen came straight to ME ( the bride!! sitting at the head table) and tells me : " I'm sorry but there is max number of plates that you can use, please let your caterer know." ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!..it ruined a good portion of my wedding day.my caterer and her team had to literally wash extra plates at their outdoor station so as to save dinner.
