I've spent maybe a total of 12 hours in person with Robert, and I feel like he's been a friend in our lives forever. I can't say enough good things about his energy, humor, ability to make you feel at ease, organization and professionalism. All on top of his great work that you can clearly see in past reviews or his social media accounts. He's truly mastered his craft and I never had any doubt in my mind about what he was going to capture for us to remember forever.
As a personal anedocte, we were doing our engagement session and my now husband forgot his nice shoes. Before we could even formulate a plan, Robert was taking off his shoes and asking us what Mykel's shoe size was. And I think it would have been Robert's whole outfit if we needed it. He goes above and beyond and I can't recommend him enough. We will be hiring him again for future events or family shoots! -

Wedding Photos
Robert was excellent ! I couldn't have hired a better photographer he knew exactly how to take my photos for my wedding they came out so sharp crisp and clean shots. I will definitely hire Robert again for my future photos. I highly recommend him to anyone who needs to take pictures on their special day. -

Incredible!
Robert is incredible, his work is incredible, and I could don't be more grateful to have him with me for two days during our wedding celebrations. I took a risk, in my mind, hiring Robert. I hadn't really seen a lot of his work with South-Asian weddings and wasn't sure if someone who hadn't worked with those types of weddings would be able to capture the little moments of our two days. I was WRONG. Robert was amazing from the moment he stepped foot into our doors and started working. He was wonderful to be around, and you can tell from his work that he truly loves what he does. If you are even thinking about hiring him, go, run! You will be so happy you did! -

Robert is a consummate professional. Easy to work with, attentive, thoughtful - he made the day easy. The photographs are beautiful; lots of interesting angles, approaches, colors. We got everything we wanted. Totally recommend booking the second photographer; worth it to get those off-the-cuff and difficult angle shots. -

Fantastic pictures, great to work with!
My husband and I got married a year ago, and Robert was the first vendor we booked. He came so prepared to our meeting with sample albums and his thoughts on what we should do the day of, taking into account our ideas for pictures and when the sun would set on the day our wedding. We were blown away by that level of thoughtfulness and he is such a personable guy, we came out of that meeting knowing he was our photographer; we hired him soon thereafter.
Our wedding day was so much fun because of him; he listened to all the ideas we had, and we were so happy to follow his lead. He has a fantastic eye for unique angles and shots and the pictures you get are so unique and wonderful!
We were so happy with our wedding pictures that we call him every time we need a photo shoot. I trust my pictures to this man blindly and do not hesitate to recommend him (seriously, he could tell me to stand next to a trash can, id do it no questions asked).
Some of my friends have also hired him and loved him as well. I can not recommend him enough!

We found Robert on Wedding Wire and didn’t know a thing about him, but really connected to his photos. He blew us away and surpassed my highest expectations. He was a calming energy on our wedding day. He took photos outside on a busy city street with trees in the background that make it look like we’re in a far away park. We are a lesbian couple and I was so hesitant hiring a male photographer, and he was so wonderful with us. I was so concerned that he would be uncomfortable with us with us showing affection, etc. In an industry that can feel very challenging to navigate as a queer couple, we hit the jackpot.
All of the prompts he gave were easy and our photos are absolutely stunning. I can’t recommend him highly enough. So thrilled to have worked with him. -

We met him at our friend's wedding, then he did our engagement, rehearsal dinner and wedding photography. He is very professional, organized and responsive. Robert made the wedding amazing. If I had to dictate what were the two best parts of the wedding (other than getting married, obviously), it would be my amazing photographer and my florist (who Robert worked with flawlessly).
When it came to crunch time, I was running behind and was having a horrible time attempting to get my bow tie done correctly. Robert, being the amazing human he is, decided he would stop things right then and there and help me. But, he didn't just help me; he pulled the best man/dad card out and put me together while I was stressing out.
I can say, without a doubt in my mind, Robert is a unique photographer. Not only does he do amazing work, but he also ensures that his vibe is precisely on point with your own and that your day is fantastic. Even when there is a rush, Robert knows how to make things seem like they are going exactly as intended.
I will HIGHLY recommend that if you have the opportunity to have Robert as your photographer - Take it. -

Robert is the best!
Robert did the photography for our engagement pictures in Seattle and for our wedding in Kona, Hawaii. We even had a surprise proposal during our reception! (Don’t worry I was in on the planning). He took pictures of that moment to and even sent the happy couples the pictures right then and there!
Robert captured the beautiful moments throughout our special day so well. He’s an extremely talented, easy person to get along with and even has a great sense of humor! Highly highly highly recommend! -

If you're looking for a super talented, professional, experienced, flexible, caring photographer who goes above and beyond then look no further. Robert has an uncanny ability to capture seemingly ordinary moments and turn them into amazing pictures. He has literally blown us away with his skills!

Matthew Sent on 09/18/2018We can't say enough about Robert. We initially booked him to take our engagement photos. My wife was nervous about being comfortable and taking such important photos with a stranger. Within five minutes of meeting Rob, she was completely at ease, joking and laughing. The engagement session went great. Rob even delivered the completed photos within a few days. We were so happy with the photos that we decided to book Rob for our wedding.
Rob made the entire process seamless and easy. He provided any documentation needed to our vendors and wedding planner as soon as requested and even contacted another location for us to take first look photos. We requested a second photographer and Rob came through with a second shooter, Gavin, who was also amazing. Rob and Gavin were punctual, easy going, and a pleasure to work with. They were able to wrangle our crazy family together to get all the needed photos, which isn't an easy task. Rob even delivered the final photos much earlier than expected. We were both ecstatic when we received all the pictures. Rob and Gavin captured the day perfectly. Any family member or friend that we've shown the photos too immediately say they're the best wedding pictures they've ever seen.Choosing Rob as our photographer was easily the best wedding decision we made. -

Adrienne Sent on 09/13/2018Robert was recommended to me by another photographer whose pictures I liked but was booked on our wedding date. Because the pictures were so important to me, I was in contact with several photographers and took a lot of time to study each and pick the best fit. Robert was "the one" without a doubt. His pictures were stunning, he was so helpful and professional in our pre-wedding meeting, and his professionalism on the day of made him the vendor MVP.
We were both feeling the nerves on the day of but Robert made us feel so relaxed and ourselves even while posing that the pictures turned out incredibly. He helped me with a wardrobe malfunction when a button popped off my dress train right before the ceremony (he studied theater in college and had experience with wardrobe issues), he handled bossy relatives with ease ("get a picture of this," "make sure you get a shot of..."), he was a pleasure to be around, and felt like a part of the family after all was said and done. Robert is a pro, he takes his job (and your memories) seriously, his work speaks for itself (gorgeous pictures), and he's just fun to be around. We loved working with him and couldn't recommend him more highly. You'll be in good hands if you choose to work with Robert for your wedding or any event. -

Melanie Sent on 03/04/2018This is a dreadfully long overdue review but an important one! I can’t recommend Robert Paetz more highly for wedding photography. He is a consummate professional, a great guy, and someone you can trust with your wedding memories - after all, the photos are the one thing that will last throughout the years! For that reason, photos were a top priority for my husband and me when planning and budgeting our wedding.
I found Robert via a recommendation on a wedding forum, loved his portfolio of photos, and was so excited to learn that he’ll travel anywhere in SoCal without an extra fee. I have yet to learn of any other photographers who offer that same service! Robert has excellent communication with clients, and I never had any cause for concern from the time we retained him to the day we got our photos. I was blown away by how many finished photos we received and how quickly we got them. We were still on our honeymoon when he posted the sneak peek of our photos on his blog!
His professional wedding albums are also top notch, and he did a fantastic job with the layout of ours and was very easy to work with as far as asking him to swap out some photos for the ones we liked more. We married in September, and we received our finished leather-bound album before Christmas, along with two smaller albums for our parents so we were able to give them as Christmas gifts!
Robert is LGBT+ friendly - and I mention that because, while that was not a direct concern for us as a cis hetero couple, I hope throwing that term in this review might make it easier for him to pop up in search results if any LGBT+ couples planning a wedding are googling photographers. Robert has many awesome examples of his work from same-sex weddings on his website and blog. :) -

Melissa Sent on 10/11/2017Robert is not only an incredible photographer, but he is such an awesome energy to be around! My husband and I live in Southern California but we got married north of Seattle in Anacortes so it worked out incredibly well that Robert goes back and forth between the two and was able to shoot our engagement photo session in California before our wedding. Neither my husband nor I feel very comfortable in front of a camera, but Robert really helps make it fun, forget there's a camera there, and works his magic to produce some seriously incredible photos. Thank you Robert for creating beautiful images we'll cherish for the rest of our lives. We can't recommend him highly enough!

Alejandra Sent on 01/20/2014I never considered another photographer for my wedding. From the first time I saw Robert and Felicia's work, I knew I wanted to work with them. They are both two of the warmest, kindest people I've ever met, in addition to being incredibly talented. My initial correspondence with Felicia was over e-mail, and she was both prompt and thorough when it came to addressing any questions I had (both day and night). I never for a second doubted that she and Robert knew exactly what they were doing. Since I live in Colorado and was getting married in California, it was wonderful to feel like the distance didn't matter--they were both so on top of the details, and had great suggestions for what type of photographs we might want, as well as a timeline of events for the big day. When it was finally time for our engagement shoot, Robert and Felicia made both my husband and I feel so at ease in front of a camera. We are both a little camera shy, but they were great at making us laugh, getting beautiful shots, and keeping us comfortable the whole time.
On the day of our wedding, they were the epitome of patience and professionalism--from capturing our first look and ceremony to wrangling family members and our wedding party, they made us feel so special, and were just a pleasure to work with. Once we received our wedding pictures...wow. There are just no words. These are pictures we will cherish for our entire lives--not only because it was our wedding day, but because of how breathtaking they are. They are natural, capturing the genuine emotion of the day, but (as my best friend said), the pictures also look like they could be in a magazine. I cannot stress enough how wonderful our experience was, from start to finish. Of all the little details of our wedding--besides getting married, of course--the pictures were the most important to my husband and me...and Robert and Felicia delivered more than we ever could have hoped for. -

I was impressed at the very first meeting when they went over our timeline and helped us figure out what needed to be done and how many hours we would need them for. Throughout the whole planning process they were always so responsive to any questions or concerns that we had as well. They offered great suggestions of places to take our engagement pics and they turned out great. On the actual wedding day, they went completely above and beyond the call of duty...Felicia even helped to bustle my dress! The final pics came out great....Robert is always so creative with his shots and made our venue look much better in the pics. Having a good photographer was definitely one of our priorities and we are so glad that we made the right decision in regards to this vendor. I definitely recommend them highly! -

Karen Sent on 10/14/2013First and foremost, Robert and Felicia's style of photography is what attracted us to them from the start. Scouring the internet for wedding photographers was daunting to say the least. However, after searching blog after blog, Robert and Felicia always stood out among the rest. The clarity and composition of their work is natural to them, but I'm certain it took years to develop. Technically speaking, their photos are superb.
On top of their technical skill, they were also super helpful throughout the entire wedding process. It seemed like they knew what we were thinking at all times and didn't hesitate to offer an extra hand. They know their business and made our day go incredibly smoothly. Highly recommended. -

Their experience with weddings turned out to be a great resource as we planned our big day. They made great recommendations on locations for our engagement photos, plus they had already photographed a wedding at our venue and knew all the best spots for pictures. They also provided great advice on timing and organization of the day’s events. They made us feel comfortable and loose while taking pictures and are very fun people to be around. We were amazed to find that Robert will stop at nothing to get the shot he has in mind, you will often seem him climbing trees and walls, or rolling around on the ground to get it just right. The pictures that we received were so far above our expectations and we have received many compliments from others on their quality. Of all the vendors we had to work with and use for our wedding, Robert and Felecia were by far the best investment we made. We offer our highest recommendation for Robert Paetz Photography. -

Angela Sent on 10/25/2011You must hire Rob and Felicia. Before you book your wedding venue, make sure Rob and Felicia have that date available – if not – change your date. Period.
Rob and Felicia did the most amazing job on both our engagement and wedding photos. They flew across the country to do our engagement shoot and spent easily over 3 hours taking thousands of photos. We did some photos around the monuments in Washington, D.C. and at Hotel Monaco. Rob had such a great eye to catch the perfect background. The angles and lighting techniques were fantastic.
On our wedding day, Rob and Felicia captured the most amazing shoots. None of them looked posed or cheesy, but perfect. As a team they are the perfect blend of being incredibly professional but fitting into the mix with friends and family. Very quickly after our wedding we received a disc with over 900 photos of our wedding!! ALL of them were fantastic. I can’t stop looking at them. My family and friends are still sending compliments. They went above and beyond. I could not thank Rob and Felicia enough for the lifetime of memories I have because of their talents and heart.

Nathasha Sent on 09/15/2011Everyone planning a wedding knows that at the end of the wedding, when the flowers have died, the dress is stored away, the favors have been eaten or thrown away.. all the time spent looking for venues and putting your crafting skills together to mail out invitations- all that's left of the day and leading up to it is just a memory.
I knew that choosing a photographer was going to be a tough decision, because at the end of the hustle and bustle (to pun intended), the pictures that are left is what capture the day that you want to remember for the rest of your life.
Robert and Felicia did just that for my engagement session, wedding, AND anniversary shoot. They are able to capture MOMENTS will be cherished by all for years and generations to come.
Rob and Felicia are perhaps the most down to earth people that my husband and I have met, and with their great sense of humor they make shooting feel fun and natural. I probably would've chosen to work with them just on that fact alone, but on top of that they are AMAZING AMAZING photographers.
If you're looking for boring, prom type photos for your big day, then I suggest you look for another photographer to work with. They are super fun, creative, and capture the most natural images that when you look at it you just go "wow.. breathtaking".
They are incredibly skilled at what they do, super professional, down to earth, FUN, and QUICK at getting pictures back. I had all of the edited images within WEEKS!
Choosing to work with Rob and Felicia was the best decision that I could've made when it came to planning the big day. I don't know of any other photographers that remember every single couple they've worked with and have a friendship with them all.
Next on the list: baby shoot! (in a few years) -

Lisette Sent on 09/14/2011The first thing we did to prepare for our wedding almost right after we got engaged was book Rob and Felicia. We had no venue, no dress, no tux but we had our photographers. It was overall the best money spent on our wedding. It was important to know that we could trust the people we worked with, and that we did. We trusted that looking off into the future and holding still would render pictures that we couldn't have thought up if we wanted to. The Paetz tag team will take your expectations and surpass them. They were flexible enough to go for a hike to take our engagement pictures, put up with our lightsabers, superhero outfits and any wishlist item we threw at them. They were punctual, professional and witty. The turnaround time was incredibly quick and we had our family looking online minutes after the wedding excited to see everything. We've had family asking us for their information to book them. Hands down we plan on having Rob and Felicia do our anniversary pictures, family portraits and if at some point babies come they'll be on call for baby pictures too. Plain and simple when you look at our wedding pictures you see us, genuine, silly and slightly better looking. I could go on and and on but all you have to do is see their pictures they speak for themselves. -

John Sent on 09/13/2011We evaluated quite a few photographers before we hired Robert and Felicia for our wedding. Their work jumped out at us – it was more interesting and dramatic than anyone else’s we saw.
Not only did they provide beautiful engagement shots as part of the package, their work on our wedding day was exceptional. And beyond the quality of their work, which is stunning, they are just a pleasure to have around. Many of our friends commented on how nice they were, and have marveled at the shots they posted on-line.
You can’t go wrong with Robert & Felicia. You don’t have to take our word for it – just look at the work they’ve done.

From the second we got our photos back, we knew that he was going to be our wedding photographer. Robert and Felicia have this special way of taking pictures. Not only do they make you feel extremely comfortable, they become your friend. And did I mention how creative they are?
On our wedding day, Robert and Felicia went beyond their job. They catered to me like I was a princess, they were there when I wanted them, and not there when I needed a private moment. And just a few days ago we recieved our photos and I can't give them enough praises. They captured every moment, every detail, and every emotion PERFECTLY. To say they are talented is an understatement.

Mike Sent on 08/10/2011Robert and Felicia shot our engagement photos at Disneyland. A few months later, they shot our wedding ceremony in Murietta, CA, and our wedding reception over 90 minutes away in Westminster, CA. Yes, we know. A PAIN - but they didn't complain once!
Without further ado, the review:
PROS
1) Patient
2) Showed up before us at both of our sessions, even though they live in Burbank
3) Helpful in so many ways and always picked up when we called!
4) Understanding of culture and sensitive to etiquette
5) Fun and friendly, which helped calm our nerves
6) Helped us realize and figure out many aspects of our wedding which we did not think about.
7) Helped us with our wardrobe!
8) Most importantly, they are EXCELLENT photographers!
CONS
1) They live really far, I think in Burbank, so we probably won't be taking them out for beers anytime soon. :(
Their attention to detail is awesome. It's the little things that count, people! They printed our photo onto our DVDs, created a DVD cover, made awesome little cards with our photos on them with his website on the back (which was a big hit - we had none left for ourselves *sob* ), and even registered a domain name for us! They are so much more than photographers. The value in their service is really amazing. He edits every single photo individually and you can really see the effort, pride and time he puts into his work.
I highly recommend Robert Paetz and his wife, Felicia! What a great team.

Christine Sent on 08/04/2011I believe that selecting a photographer is one of the most important decisions a bride can make when planning her wedding. And that is how Robert Paetz became our first official vendor. When all is said and done and the wedding is just a mere memory, you want perfect pictures to remember all the love, all the hard work, and just the sheer emotion of that Great Day. Soon after becoming engaged I started researching photographers and stumbled across Robert’s work. What first struck me was how beautiful he captures color. The color is so vivid it almost has a painterly feel to it. He makes BEAUTIFUL pictures. What I also appreciate is his ability to capture the most candid moments. The weddings featured on his blog play out like beautiful pictorial stories and I knew I wanted him to record ours.
Robert and Felicia shot our engagement session. Not only are they talented photographers, but they have the ability to make my now-husband and I relax in front of the camera. If you knew us you would realize how hard that is to accomplish. Our engagement photos came out so natural looking and with so many beautiful candid shots. I was completely confident that our wedding photos would be perfect.
Robert was also extremely patient and professional with us. Originally, we had contracted him to shoot a more intimate wedding, but then it ballooned to be wedding with over 120 guests. A financial hit caused us to downsize to the original size of 23 and Robert worked with us through all the changes. We were blessed to find him.
We now have our wedding pictures and I am amazed at how beautiful we all look, how many little quick moments he captured, and how detailed his images are. My dad was personally impressed at how hard Robert worked at the wedding. He said, “That man never stopped snapping pictures and was even in a tree at one point.” Thank you Robert (and Felicia) for being a joy to work with and taking BRILLIANT photos. We are beyond appreciative.
