Reverend Richard Colonna was an absolute pleasure to work with for our wedding ceremony at The Ryland Inn. We booked his services over a year out due to his positive reviews and we were not disappointed! He is incredibly organized in the planning process. He guided us through the entire process and helped us create our own script. We had numerous phone calls with him and he was very patient with us when we tweaked our ceremony many times! He planned the entire ceremony down to the very last detail. He has a natural gift to provide a beautiful, seamless, and romantic wedding ceremony. Thank you Rev. Rich! -

We cannot recommend Rev. Richard Colonna enough! Richard officiated our wedding ceremony on May 7, 2026 at the Grain House in Basking Ridge, and he was absolutely wonderful from start to finish. He was personable, detail-oriented, organized, and truly took the time to make sure our ceremony was meaningful, personal, and seamless.
From our first conversation, Richard made us feel comfortable and cared for, and by the wedding day, he genuinely felt like part of the family. He guided us through every detail with such professionalism and warmth, helping everything go off without a hitch.
Our guests continuously complimented us on how beautiful and personal the ceremony was and what an incredible officiant Richard was. We are so grateful he was such a special part of our day and would highly recommend him to any couple looking for someone who truly cares about creating a heartfelt and memorable ceremony.

Reverend Richard J. Colonna was the officiant for our wedding ceremony and we couldn't have been happier. Rev Rich met with us a few times leading up to the wedding and we were impressed by his professionalism, thoroughness and attention to detail. He was responsive to our requests and helped us customize the ceremony to our liking. Rev Rich reviewed the ceremony details with the wedding party just prior to the wedding and put everyone at ease. Everyone appreciated how easy he made the whole process.
Rev Rich is also extremely friendly and easy to work with - many people asked us after the ceremony how we knew him as they thought he was a family friend! We recommend Rev Rich highly, thanks to him we had a great start to our wedding day festivities! -

I cannot say enough good things about Reverend Richard. He is everything we could have asked for and more! It only took one zoom meeting with Richard for my husband and I to know that he was the perfect fit. From the way he speaks, you can just tell that he loves love and loves what he does. He has done countless weddings and yet he treats each one with so much care and enthusiasm. He expertly guided us through all of our options and what elements we wanted to include and then turned those choices into the most beautiful ceremony we could have hoped for. Reverend Rich married my husband and I last week at The Farmhouse. He has now married me, my sister, and my two cousins including baptizing their children. He spent time getting to know me and my husband meeting with us multiple times prior to the wedding. He even came early to do a run through of the ceremony while I finished up pictures. I will never forget while I was waiting to walk down the aisle, my family and friends were cheering and laughing all thanks to him! He makes things fun, personal, and mailed my marriage license immediately. Highly recommend! -

We had the absolute pleasure of having Rich Colonna as our officiant, and we cannot recommend him highly enough. From the moment we booked him (almost TWO YEARS before our event) all the way through out wedding day, he was consistently responsive, supportive, and incredibly reliable.
Rich went above and beyond to guide us through every step of the legal licensing process, providing clear, detailed information that made what can feel like an overwhelming task completely stress-free. When it came to the ceremony itself, he broke everything down for us in such an easy, understandable way. He even coordinated with the venue to run his own rehearsal with our wedding party before the ceremony, ensuring everyone felt confident and comfortable.
His deep knowledge of wedding norms and typical ceremony setups was invaluable. He offered thoughtful ideas for every moment we wanted to personalize and shared planning suggestions we never would have came up with on our own.
Most importantly, Rich was warm, friendly, and SO easy to connect with. He took the time to really understand us and our story, and that connection came through during our ceremony in the most meaningful way.

My husband and I got married on September 21, 2025, at Minerals Hotel in Vernon, NJ, and there are not enough good things we can say about our officiant, Richard Colonna!!! From the very beginning, Richard’s attention to detail brought us so much peace and confidence. His ceremony script was so thoughtfully written and it captured us perfectly as a couple and felt incredibly personal, seamless, and meaningful.
Richard didn’t just focus on us; he also worked with our family members while we were taking portraits, rehearsing with them so everyone felt comfortable with their roles and movements. That level of care and organization made the entire ceremony flow effortlessly.
Beyond his professionalism, Richard brought the best energy. Every interaction with him was easy, fun, and uplifting. He made us feel so comfortable and confident, and his presence truly set the tone for our ceremony. His speaking voice, diction, and delivery were outstanding!!!! It felt like watching a beautiful production, and as a former theater kid, that meant so much to me.
Richard also handled all of the details we didn’t even think about day of: like coordinating our marriage license with our fathers as witnesses, so we didn’t have to worry about a single thing.
We cannot recommend Richard enough!!!!! He is organized, engaging, fun, and unbelievably talented at what he does. Having him as our officiant was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding!!!!!! -

Richard was the perfect person to officiate our wedding. He is super friendly and easy to work with. We met with him twice over zoom before our wedding to finalize all of the details of our ceremony. He was very organized and provided many recommendations for readings and other aspects of the ceremony. He was also super flexible to provide us exactly what we wanted. Once we finalized all of the details of our ceremony, he organized everything into a script that was easy to follow and made sure to coordinate with everyone involved the day of the wedding so we wouldn’t have to worry about anything. He also handled filing all the required paperwork for our marriage license after the ceremony.
During the ceremony Richard made everything run smoothly and exactly how we wanted. He was well-spoken, charismatic. and funny. We had many family members and friends comment on how great of a job he did. He even took a few great pictures of our venue while we were getting ready that he sent to us after the wedding!

Richard goes above and beyond and was the perfect person to officiate our wedding. He is so friendly, caring, organized, and knowledgeable. Leading up to the wedding day, he works with you on zoom on all of the details and provides a comprehensive draft of the ceremony. He also provides recommendations for readings and ceremony components. He organized all of the choreography of the ceremony and ran our rehearsal the day of with bridal party and family. He also handles filing the paperwork after the ceremony, alleviating us from all worry throughout this entire process.
On top of his professionalism, he is incredibly friendly. We had guests asking how we were related to Richard. Our families loved working with him during the rehearsal. He was funny, well spoken, and truly a pleasure to have on our special day. He also went the extra mile to take a few minutes with us pre-ceremony to remind us to enjoy ourselves and take in every second. We recommend him very highly and wish him all the best. -

Reverend Richard just married us last week & it was the best decision we made! I reached out 2 weeks prior to our wedding to check his availability for our date (our original plan wasnt working out) and luckily he was available. With such short notice, he was able to put together an entire ceremony script basically over night! During our initial zoom meeting, we knew we were booking him & it was such a weight off of my shoulders to have his expertise & help. We could not have asked for a better officiant to marry us. Rich was personable and professional. Rich conveniently met with us on ZOOM meetings prior to the wedding to help plan the ceremony of our dreams. He explained everything clearly and gave his expert advice and suggestions. On the day of the wedding, he looked handsome and presentable. We did not have a rehearsal the day before and Rich was able to do a quick run through with the bridal party before the wedding. He spoke loudly and clearly and made our guests laugh and cry. He helped us beat the storm that was heading to our outdoor beach wedding by making last minute adjustments to save time but not sacrifice the importance of the ceremony. Best of the best
Where on Earth do I begin? To start, we had no idea what we wanted our ceremony to be like and he helped us to customize something that best suited our relationship, personalities, and beliefs. He was so pleasant to work with and was easily our favorite vendor and favorite part of the whole wedding process! You could tell with each zoom call that he was genuinely happy for us and we could tell he truly loves what he does and cared about making sure our ceremony was exactly what we wanted (which it was all that and more!). We received many compliments on our ceremony from family and friends, but possibly the most telling aspect was that one of my bridesmaids booked him for her wedding later this year! I also think it’s very important to note that he’ll completely orchestrate the entire ceremony from who is walking after who and who is sitting where. This was something that our venue coordinator didn’t speak with us about at all but we didn’t care because we had the comfort of knowing that Rev Rich knew exactly what we wanted (our rehearsal was the day of so we were taking pictures while bridal party and family were rehearsing). I knew when I first saw Richard Colonna’s smile on his website that he was the one! This was our second marriage and we weren’t sure how we wanted our ceremony to be, but our main goal was to keep it simple and personal. The minister responded right away and we were on a zoom call within a week. Because we weren’t sure of what we wanted, he literally held our hand through our first appointment. It was clear to us that he was a professional; he was articulate, organized and most importantly genuine. His organizational and logistical skills were extremely important during the planning phase which ensured that our ceremony went off exactly as planned. From day one he was invested in our wedding, he staid in touch, sent reminders and always answered my calls & emails right away. I can’t say enough about how happy we were with our decision to have Richard as our officiant, his presence enhanced our ceremony and although we only knew him for a few months, we felt as if a family member was marrying us. He has a very special calmness and inner peace that made both our guests and us feel at ease. He truly made our ceremony tailored to us, it was simple, sweet and resonated with everyone present. We booked Rev Rich to officiate our wedding and to say he exceeded all of our expectations would be an understatement. Before booking him, he spent an hour with us on a discovery call, and showed us how he tailors our ceremony to us and wow- he is so organized! Booking with him after our first call was a no brainer. Booking Richard for our wedding ceremony officiant was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. He stood out among all of our wedding vendors. Richard was the perfect wedding officiant in many ways. If you are reading this review, you are probably most focused on an officiant’s delivery during the ceremony. Well, he completely crushed this. He was graceful, smooth, funny, and very charismatic. People at our wedding asked us how we knew him because it seemed like we had been family friends for years. His timing was perfect and he directed everyone very well. He had to deal with intense wind gusts during our ceremony on our otherwise perfect day and he made it look easy. And most importantly, he ducked out of the photographs of our first kiss :) However, Richard’s value was not just in his actual ceremony presentation. Both before and during our wedding, he took care of all of the little details and helped us feel that everything was in good hands. Before our wedding, he always came very prepared to our Zoom meetings with many helpful details. He was sensitive to the unique style of ceremony we were looking for and never tried to push us in a certain direction. Richard officiated our wedding 1-14-23 and it was truly better than ever imagined. Within the first few seconds of virtually meeting him we knew he was the one for us. He was funny, thorough, organized and helpful. He walked us through every step of the process and our ceremony. He made sure he tailored everything exactly to us and we were happy. During our ceremony he made us comfortable, made us laugh and made us cry. Our families have endlessly been saying Richard was amazing! Richard was the perfect officiant for us. He is very professional and his personality made the process even better. He walks you through everything. He asks for and sees your vision for what you want in your wedding. He not only asks, but he listens. As he walks you through the scripting process, he offers ideas & options or thoughts. He also guides you on the marriage application process as well and how to obtain the marriage license after his job is basically done. Richard goes the extra mile. Richard officiated my sister's wedding in 2018, and he did such a wonderful job that when a friend was looking for an officiant the following year, I passed along his information. Each ceremony was so memorable and unique to each couple, so after seeing him in action at two separate weddings, I knew I wanted him to officiate my wedding when the time came. My original wedding date was scheduled for 2020 and as with most covid weddings, we had to reschedule our wedding date. Richard was very accommodating and made rescheduling all his couples a priority. He met with us (in person and virtual) a few times to ensure every last detail of our ceremony matched our vision. We received so many compliments on what an incredibly touching and beautiful ceremony he officiated and how funny and charismatic he was. Like other couples this past year, COVID-19 had derailed our original wedding plans and in the midst of all the chaos we came across Richard and his services. From the very first email up until the last, he has been so helpful and made us feel comfortable as we were going through this process. He was very responsive to our emails and provided sample details and scripts of a typical wedding ceremony and allowed us to make changes and chose options within those documents that were best for us. It was OURS. When we told Richard that we were breaking up our wedding - ceremony now, reception later - he was so accommodating and went above and beyond to make sure that our ceremony would be just as special as if we had the full wedding. We are looking forward to working with him again next year for our vow renewal and know that it will be just as special as the first.
