Tara and Rod are in the prefect business together

We used Tara and Rod at Red Shutter studios, and they were amazing at capturing our wedding. Tara and Rod did our pre-wedding readiness photos, and everything in between right up until the end. The were so fun and easy to be around, it was more like having friends around you instead of photographers. This is coming from someone that hates to have his picture taken, so it was amazing to have Tara and Rod as our photo historians. They captured so many special moments on film that when we went over the photos after the wedding it really felt like we were reliving that day all over again. Working with them on the wedding day was such a tremendous experience, we laughed and joked and really got to appreciate the both of them as they worked their art form. I sincerely suggest using Red Shutter for any photography needs you might have, it won't feel like your just having your picture taken, it will be like your just hanging out with friends. The quality of their work is phenomenal, they are truly in the right business as you will see from their photo shots. This is the perfect team (husband and wife) to capture your special moments for you forever. Thank you so much Tara and Rod- we loved every single photo you took for us.

Highly reccommend

We absolutely loved Red Shutter husband and wife duo! They were very friendly and approachable and easy to work with. We had to move everything for our wedding inside due to the weather and they were very creative with where to take all the photos. I am sure I was being very agitated during some photos and they made me feel so much better. The pictures came out absolutely amazing. We loved the "hero shot" as well, very cool! We cannot wait to get our photos printed and hung all over our house.

It's hard to put into words the enormous JOY that Rod & Tara brought to our wedding. The energy, positive vibes & love that they have for their profession is incredible and it shows in their work.
These guys came through for us in a pinch during a difficult time. When everyone cancelled, these guys stepped up and showed out! We are so lucky to have gotten them.

Amazing team!

Rod and Tara were amazing to work with! For starters, our pictures are so beautiful I could cry. People have been complimenting them non-stop. Its nearly impossible to find a select amount to print because they are all so good! And second, on a day full of chaos this married power couple brought so much calmness and laughter to our day. Tara made sure they captured specific poses that I asked for and would even show my wedding party my inspiration pics to make sure we got it right. I couldn’t have asked for anything more! Thank you so much for capturing our day so perfectly!!

BOOK. THEM. NOW! Rod & Tara are true professionals who beautifully capture the most special moments. They did a great job keeping track of our wedding day timeline and the shot list for photos we wanted. They were like ninjas, taking hundreds of photos but it never felt obtrusive. When we received our full photo collection, everyone was in awe of the beautiful images. It was excellent working with Rod & Tara and we would highly recommend Red Shutter Studio!

If you are looking for the BEST photographers, Rod and Tara are the ultimate duo! We get so many compliments on our engagement, bridal and wedding photos! Tara and Rod, I absolutely love you! From the moment I stumbled on their amazing photos of other weddings, I just knew that this was the photographer for me. I worked with Tara to get everything set up and it was so easy. She was so sweet and attentive that when I heard she had arrived to our wedding, I was so excited to see her as if I have known her for years. Tara and Rod were more like an extension of our family rather than just a wedding vendor, they fit in perfectly with us! Rod has this passion for photography and you can see it in his eye as he angled and staged us perfectly for our photos. He made what normally would be a very awkward moment for us to pose for our photos, into a very fun and comfortable setting. He made everyone laugh and smile and by the end of the night everyone knew his name! I haven't gotten my all my photos back just yet, but I received some teasers and everyone keeps talking about them! Thank you so much Rod and Tara!

LOVED THEM!! We don't live in Charleston so trying to find any vendor was a challenge. We had to rely heavily on recommendations and reviews. We didn't have a great experience with our engagement photos so I was determined to get amazing wedding pictures, but we didn't have a ton of money to spend. A childhood friend recommended Red Shutter and from the first time we spoke to Tara on the phone, we just felt at ease. She was able to guide us through what to expect and ask the right questions to help us narrow down how the timeline should go. The day of the wedding, her and Rod were there from start to finish and made us both feel at ease. We never once worried that they weren't getting the shots. I honestly don’t remember seeing them during the ceremony but the pictures show that they were everywhere. Even during the reception, they got so many candid shots without people realizing they were there (huge plus in my book!). They were both so easy to work with and so much fun to be around! One of our groomsman is even very shy and they were able to bring him out of his shell. We also got our pictures back VERY quickly! And most importantly, we love them all!! We couldn't have asked for a better experience for photos for our wedding day. I highly recommend using Rod & Tara if you want the best photos to capture your big day.

We are convinced, Red Shutter Studio is the best in the business. You won't find a more organized, creative, and above all- kind duo than Tara and Rod. They are SO MUCH more than photographers. Because they know the city of Charleston so well, they know all the nooks and special places. Because they know events and weddings so well, Tara is a great resource and will even help guide you in your planning process. They are seriously the whole package. Not only was the planning easy and organized, so was the actual day of our ceremony. Tara and Rod were easy to work with, relaxed, yet efficient and incredibly hard working. You can tell they love what they do. Many of our guests commented on how impressed they were with our photographers and how if they ever married in Charleston, they would use Red Shutter Studio as well.

Then of course you see our wedding photos... And they are magic. I have been told several times that we have the most beautiful wedding photos people have ever seen. The day looks as if it was sprinkled with fairy dust. Rod has this incredible gift, he can actually capture emotion in his work. Each photo showed genuine moments of happiness and love. I have never seen anything like it.

Red Shutter is incredible. We looked at several photographers and are so thankful we went with RS. We got married in the "1000 year flood" during hurricane Joaquin. The fact that Tara and Rod drove through the flooded streets and sideways rain demonstrates their passion and enthusiasm. As you can imagine, we were a little nervous about how our pictures would turn out. Wow! They not only captured the weather, they captured the emotions and memories. The pictures turned out incredible. I will never go with another photographer again.

We absolutely loved working with Red Shutter Studio for our wedding in Charleston, SC!! Tara and Rod are amazing. They are very laid back, easy to work with, and the photos were amazing. It was so nice having 2 photographers for the price of one as we got shots of both the groom/groomsmen and bride/bridesmaids getting ready. The price was extremely affordable. We did most of our photos beforehand so we could enjoy the reception and Rod and Tara were so efficient and got all the shots plus many many more that we requested. We got all of pictures on a CD file following the wedding, and the album that was included in our package is beautiful . I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Rod & Tara are AH-MAZING at what they do!! We were looking for a photographer that would do more than your average photographer with just a really nice camera. They are true experts in capturing artistic photographs and their editing techniques are incredible. It also helps that they are the nicest couple to work with and catered to our needs that were totally unrelated to our photography needs. Without hesitation, they offered us rides to the ceremony and reception when an unanticipated situation arose. We felt comfortable being around Rod and Tara and they made our wedding day absolutely perfect.

From our fist meeting, Rod and Tara from Red Shutter Studio really impressed us with their quality of work and professionalism. After our engagement photos, we were so pleased that we decided to hire them for even more events. My husband and I decided on a package that included engagement, bridal, rehearsal dinner and 7+ hours of coverage on our wedding day. I highly suggest the engagement or bridal session, because it gives you a chance to introduce yourself and get used to the camera. Rod and Tara made us feel very comfortable and at ease while having our photograph taken all around town! They are truly a joy to work with and we highly recommend them for your special day.

Red Shutter was great! Our photos were beautiful and made possible by a team that works well together, even as lots of things about our wedding kept changing on the day of the wedding. I don't even know where to start when describing how wonderful Rod and Tara of Red Shutter Studio are. They initially shot our engagement pictures and after that experience I really wanted them to shoot our wedding, but had someone already booked because of closeness to the wedding site. Later, our photographer backed out so I emailed Tara promptly to see if we could get them for our wedding. Turns out our day was one of the only days they had open, so it felt like fate! From the initial contact to the follow-up after the wedding everything was superb. Everything was so easy and professional. The day of the wedding, both Rod and Tara made me feel so at ease and did not even flinch when we had disaster weather and had to move everything inside. They were so interactive with our wedding party and guests and it felt like we had known them for years. Even people in and attending the wedding commented on how awesome and fun they were. We received a few sneak peaks of our pictures in 2 days and the rest followed within the next two weeks. The quality of the pictures were above and beyond and the creativity just blows your mind. I could not have asked for any one better to do our wedding pictures than Red Shutter Studio and know for a fact they will be doing all pictures for us from now on.

RedShutterStudio could not have been more professional. My daughter's photographs were stunning. We had the most wonderful experience with them on the day of her Bridal Portraits. The entire day of the wedding, was nothing but perfect. They made sure that they got every shot that we requested. The hardest decision I've had to make is choosing which of the photographs to put onto canvas! So far, I have picked 8! The pictures are works of art! I loved working with this husband and wife team! We LOVED Tara & Rod at Red Shutter! The entire process of working with them was seamless. WE LOVED OUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS! We cannot stress enough how kind, caring, and professional Rod and Tara were! They were so much fun and easy to work with, and really cared about getting the exact picture you want. They are accommodating for whatever you decide to do. I had a few requests that I thought would be a little out of ordinary (we wanted to take all of our group pictures before the ceremony and take a picture with our dog after the ceremony and before the reception) and Tara and Rod helped us figure out exactly how to do everything to fit within our time frame and get perfect pictures. We already have a highlight reel of pictures, and expect the rest of the images (about 900) very soon. I was blown away with how quickly we received images because I have been in a few weddings, and we waited months before receiving anything! Additionally, our guests commented how the photographers never blocked anyone from seeing what was going on at the wedding and reception, and the bridal party loved how fun Rod and Tara were. On top of the professionalism, STUNNING pictures and fun, they are definitely in the price range of any bride. Obviously, I loved them by this crazy amount of feedback, but I would not hesitate recommending Rod and Tara to anyone! They are the BEST wedding photographers, hands down!

Fabulous!!!!!!!! Rod and Tara are wonderful people to have around on your wedding day!!!! They are so nice and helpful and FUN! My husband and I are bigger people and they made us look more beautiful than we ever thought we were!! And let me tell you, we think we're beautiful to start with :)

They shot over 1000 pictures, I think! They don't stop until they get the perfect shot! Everything was on time and perfect! I will recommend them to everyone!!

They were on the higher end of our budget but my goodness... These are pictures that you will have for a life time and their quality of photography is worth every penny because your pictures will be timeless!!

Would we recommend this vendor to a friend? Abso-freakin-lutely! They manage to make everyone feel like they're automatically best friends. We've had so many guests ask about them and say that if they ever need photos taken in Charleston - those two are IT. They are great. I've gotten so many compliments on our engagement shoot, and the bridals. Our wedding day pictures are amazing. We're very much looking forward to continuing to work with them on our wedding album. Oh, and you should definitely opt IN for the selfie station/photobooth. Our guests LOVED it.

I learned quickly that picking a great photographer was very important early in my wedding planning. You can seriously tell the difference between a $1000 photographer and a $2000-3000 photographer. I as thinking on skimping on photos but after seeing others... that plan changed. I had many people/vendors recommending photographers. Many people were recommending photographers that were well known in the Charleston area and had been well established for years. I had a hard time with this particular photographer. Their value of packages are horrible. I wasn't going to stand paying that much and getting so little -- It's MY wedding!
After a tiring search I found Rod and Tara's company Red Shutter Studio. The quality of their photos are hands down the best I've seen! They are true professionals who understand not only the quality of their product but also the value of packages. They were so personable and got shots of everything! I recommend getting the 2 photographers because they help each other out and set up lighting for perfect shots. The one thing that really drew me to them is that I would have full rights of my photographs. After they edited the images I was able to download all of them to my PC! Other places were selling albums and prints-- that was all. Red Shutter is the best vendor I could have ever picked. I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Rod and Tara are two of the most personable and personal people my wife and I have ever met. Red Shutter Studios is THE BEST!!!! Tara and Rod traveled from Charleston, SC to my wedding in Richmond, VA to shoot my wedding. They got some of the most amazing candid shots, which is what I was looking for. Their communication was great throughout the whole process, Tara was awesome! They were both incredibly fun to work with, and really nice people! They really are such talented artists. You cannot get two BETTER photographers than Tara and Rod with Red Shutter Studio! We were running out of time to find and book a photographer so we called the very first photographer recommended to us and had a “get to know you session”. After that we were hooked! We didn’t even bother to call another person…and it was the best decision ever! Their prices are listed openly on their website which saves you time. When we met with Tara to discuss what they had to offer, she showed a genuine interest in us and what was going on in our lives. She took the time to answer and ask many questions in detail to direct her services to suit our personality and preferences. She has a very professional attitude and “the customer knows best” approach. She responded promptly with all correspondence, and worked with us on making changes to their photo package to suit the interests of me the bride, which reassured me they are the best in the business! On rehearsal night I met Rod… Can I say hysterical!! This guy will make you laugh and put every care and worry at ease. He knows how to work with your guests and get the best pictures of your family possible. He also is a wizard with Photoshop and will turn every picture into a piece of art. When it was raining on the big day, he recommended we head to the college laundry mat to take pictures in lieu of getting soaked outside. Instead of taking pictures of memories…we made memories while taking pictures! It was a blast and a nice little secret get away to unveil to our guests later. We received so many positive comments back regarding these “not so traditional” pictures. Now my husband and I plan on going back every ten years to the laundry mat to get anniversary pics. Hopefully, Tara and Rod will be there with us to capture the moment. The best thing was they got our pictures to us within a week! I highly recommend Tara and Rod for your wedding day or any memory of life you want to capture! I have chosen my photographers for life!

Rod and Tara both are wonderful people and excellent photographers! They are a lot of fun, very professionalism, and always willing to make the bride happy! It rained on my wedding day and I was a little bit bummed at the time. However, Rod had some very creative ideas and remained positive. It helped so much! Now instead of being upset that it rained on my wedding day, I will always remember how I felt during our special moments, because it was all captured so beauitfully!

Can I give Higher than a 5? Tara and Rod are extremely professional, but they also make working with them like a fun evening out. We laughed almost the whole time, and I could cry when I look at the gorgeous photos they took of my baby girl. I don't believe anyone else could've captured all her many funny, serious, sweet expressions along with the soft lighting in the background. They certainly have the eye and the skills to get any job done to perfection!!!

We had family photos taken with my 18 mo. old daughter, and they turned out wonderful! It was over 100 degrees outside, and Rod and Tara (Red Shutter Photo) kept a smile on their faces and ours the entire shoot. They were extremely patient and able to coordinate lighting and 2 people and a baby smiling. The posed were great, not to mention the amazing candid moments they captured. It is hard for me to get my daughter to look up and to smile at the exact moment I snap a photo, so these are invaluable to me and my family. I recommend Red shutter to everyone, now. I have a gift cert. to use another photographer, but I will only use Red Shutter bc the last two sessions were so good. I think anyone else would just disappoint me, now. The only problem is that now everyone in the family wants prints! Haha I guess Santa will be bringing framed photos this year:)

After meeting with Red Shutter in October of 2011, I immediately knew this was the level of professionalism I wanted to capture the day. They provided samples of their work, albums, and links to other Charleston Weddings of which they were a part. I booked them on the spot. Tara and Rod are a husband and wife team. They arrived at 3:30PM at the Salon, for getting ready,and were by the bride and groom's side until 11:00PM. From the salon, to the venue, to the church, back to the venue for dinner and dancing, and departure, they didn't miss a moment! Exactly what I was hoping for, to be able to relive the day over and over again! I have 1543 photos to relive the day! They are very personable, and made us feel like long time friends! I cannot say enough good things about Red Shutter! We just loved them. They provide memories we will have forever!

Rod and Tara were absolutely fantastic and did an amazing job of capturing our special day. Not only were they professional, they are also fun people that made the whole experience exciting. Rod and Tara not only photographed our wedding, but helped us plan it! They recommended vendors and were totally understanding when our "little elopement" turned into a real wedding! They made us feel completely at ease while taking photographs (probably not the easiest task with my husband, who I know was nervous about the photo session). The pictures we have from our wedding day are beautiful and they did a phenomenal job capturing our big day.

Rod and Tara of Red Shutter Studio are two of the best photographers out there! Working with Tara to coordinate everything was a breeze and I didn't have to worry about a thing on my wedding day. The engagement photos were amazing and came with the package we purchased, which was a huge plus. Their dynamic is hilarious and everyone was immediately put at ease. We had such a fun time with our engagement shoot and we couldn't believe how relaxed you guys made us! The pictures turned out perfect and we used our favorite one on our save the dates!

Out of all of my wedding vendors, I am the most satisfied with Red Shutter Studio. Rod and Tara are phenomenal photographers and very fun people, too! :) I am so happy with my engagement, bridal, rehearsal, and wedding photos that they took. If I could give them 10 stars I would. I can not say enough good things about Rod and Tara from Red Shutter Studio. Not only are their pictures absolutely stunning, they were a dream to work with. It was beyond a pleasure to spend the day with Rod, we had the best time. I've never laughed so much or so hard as I did all day that day. They were accommodating from the very beginning. Since we were planning from 800 miles away we could only get to Charleston a few times before the wedding and on one of these occasions we wanted to do our engagement session, but they were booked solid. Rod took off his volunteer position at The Citadel to shoot them for us. They both have an eye that just can not be matched. If you do nothing else for your wedding in Charleston hire Red Shutter Studio for your photographers. I swear you won't regret it.

I absolutely loved Rod & Tara and I loved the moments they captured at my wedding. When we first met I asked them to capture all the moments. I am not one for stiff posed shots. Well they delivered more than I could even imagine. Check out their website and tell me you don't want those moments captured at your wedding. And their turn-around time is amazing!

In addition to stunning, swoon-worthy, amazing photographs, they have top notch quality. They raise the bar for how anyone in the wedding industry should act. Tara responded almost instantly to every email I sent and was very organized throughout the entire time. The day of, they kept us laughing and relaxed throughout the pictures. Everyone, even my "Don't take my picture" Grandmother loved them.

These photographers are so amazing that my best friend is flying them out for her wedding in a different state because she just has to have stunning pictures and knows they will deliver. I whole-heartily recommend them for your wedding photographers. They are the type of people who will treat you right and make you look stunning.

If I could award 10 stars, I would! From the moment we booked with Red Shutter Studio, the dynamic team (Rod and Tara) were more then our wedding photographers- they were our rock through out every step of the process. Traveling from out of town for our wedding, we knew Charleston was where we wanted to celebrate our special day, but we were fearful of planning such a special event from 100's of miles away- counting of folks we didn't know. From the very first interaction, Rod and Tara defined helpful, creative, timely, and passionate. They were nothing like the other folks we had called- that started the conversation with price. Red Shutter is wonderful! We fell in love with them just looking at all the recently taken pics on their website. Our engagement session was tons of fun, and we got a lot of unique candid photos to use in our save the date cards. The turn around was incredible--our engagement pictures were done 10 days after the session, and our wedding pictures were done 6 days after our ceremony!
Rod and Tara are a very funny pair but are able to blend into the background when they need to. They are absolutely worth every penny. Even beyond their personalities, the quality of pictures, and the quick turnaround time, Red Shutter is fantastic because they give you the rights to your photos--meaning that you don't have to order prints through them each time you want a copy of your pictures!

We loved working with Rod & Tara! Have had our engagement pictures already, wedding is in 6 months. They are wonderful to work with and loved our e-pics! No one I've shown them to has ever seen anything like them! You can look in my bio for some samples.
Also, their packages are simple! Two separate packages that are all-inclusive, no picking and choosing, they just include everything, which is so nice not to have to think about the little things!

Edited to add:

They were wonderful on our wedding day! They kept things fun and rolling at the same time. They were especially accommodating when we had some extra picture requests from family & friends, and they were more than happy to help! We got our first peek within a week of the wedding, and then the full shot list (1600 pictures!) up within 3. So fantastic I didn't have to wait months and months for them! And, we own the pictures after the wedding, so it'll be nice to have them when I want to make a print down the road! Couldn't have asked for anything more from Rod & Tara!

Rod and Tara were absolutely the BEST!! They really had fun with us, and it felt like we had a couple of friends there taking pictures! Not only was their work absolutely breathtaking, they were professional when they needed to be and fun when we wanted them to be!! They are both so great at photography, the package we got was impeccable and they allow YOU to own the images once they are done! Not many photographers do this, it's a great way for guest to be able to have pictures of the event without paying an arm and a leg! I would do ANY event with these two. Prices are very reasonable, they are amazing at what they do, and it doesn't take very long to get the gallery up of the Bridals/Engagements Shots or the Wedding! Their packages allow for a lot of choosing whatever you want- Go with Red Shutter Studio and check out their website for examples of their work, you'll be floored!

Rod & Tara were an integral part of our wedding day as we got ready, got a little bit nervous, and finally said our I Do's. Rod and Tara are so much fun to work with. They really let the bridal party act natural and catch those moments. Everyone I have shared my photos with raves about 1) how great they think they are, and 2) how much fun the photographers were. I would recommend them without hesitation. The only reason they are not a perfect 5, is that I probably needed some more direction on some shots. They are happy to let you guide them on the kind of shots you want, but as a bride you tend to forget things you were after or wanting. So from that aspect, I would have liked a wee bit more direction. Other than that, I have over 100 pics I LOVE, and can't wait to create an album with. They completely capture the atmosphere and essence of our wedding celebration!
