Picking your wedding venue is an extremely personal decision that you likely won't make just from reading some good reviews, so this review is intended for couples who are already interested in The Red Lion Inn and need a little nudge to book. If you haven't already, schedule a tour, I can promise you that nothing I, or anyone, can say will be able to emulate the feeling you get upon entering the barn. It was a jaw dropping moment for my *husband* and I. We immediately knew that is where we wanted to get married and our search stopped there. Key factors other than the beauty of the barn that really sold us: the historical building offered a quintessential New England atmosphere; the hillside house provided us with a location to host our rehearsal dinner & ample getting ready space for the girls the morning of the wedding; the pool which we used for a little welcome party as guests arrived; the inn that had the perfect amount of rooms to accommodate the bridal party and our parents (all of which are from out of town and Cohasset has VERY limited hotel options); the cave which is where we had an after party (an absolute must, with late night snacks which the guests LOVED); and the staff! Samantha Loonie was our coordinator, and she honestly deserves her own review, she is amazing! I took this wedding on without hiring a planner and never felt overwhelmed or frazzled. Sam was always responsive, organized and her positive attitude is infectious. She isn't just there to look out for the venues best interest, she genuinely adores wedding planning. She kept everything running smoothly in the days leading up to the wedding and most importantly on the big day. I didn't leave a single instruction on how or where I wanted the wedding decor setup, and she NAILED it!! I could not have done a better job if I did it myself (not to mention how meticulously everything was packed back up after the wedding). Every and any silly little question or request I had was met with sincerity and a solution. I live really close by and she was always more than happy to skip the email chain and long phone calls in exchange for a face to face meeting (p.s. bring her a marylou's coffee if you appreciate her as much as I do); Andrew the inn keeper is straight out of a hallmark movie I swear, you can't not adore him and his incessant knowledge of the Inn. I always looked forward to chatting with him and he was always happy to take us on a tour whenever we dropped by; Michelle, who can be found at the front desk when Andrew is not, was incredible. Her personality left a mark on everyone who met her during our wedding weekend, she made me feel like the only bride who has ever walked those halls. She would drop anything and everything if I asked for her help with something; Last but certainly not least is Toufik, I did not have the pleasure of meeting him until the weekend of the wedding but he was the MVP! Not a single detail overlooked. He made sure from the moment we checked in that every single thing was perfect. From providing speakers for our little pool party to bringing my *husband* and I a private tray of hors d'oeuvres during cocktail hour to ensure we got to try them all. I will never forget this small detail because how impactful it was but when the cake was rolled out after dinner Toufik made a point to spin it to face me when he saw my eyes light up, a simple act but it was so thoughtful. Sam & Toufik worked so hard (and VERY late) on the wedding night to pull off the perfect day. I knew I was in good hands, and I didn't have to worry about a thing. I could think a thought and BOOM one of them was there ready to help. They had cake and leftovers delivered to our room knowing most couples are too busy at the wedding to really indulge.
Other little tidbits:
-I highly recommend hiring a band for this venue, the acoustics in the barn are incredible (bonus points if you hire Groove Authority!)
-The bridal suite (room 13) has a private elevator! talk about penthouse vibes
-The food was AMAZING, and they accommodated us with an entirely gluten free wedding. Seriously every single thing.
I could keep going but I think this has served the purpose of highlighting how special this venue is. You will not feel like just another conveyor-belt wedding if you book at The Red Lion Inn. Their approach is refreshingly personal which is what the most special and intimate day of your life deserves.

A Place We’ll Always Celebrate!
All of the staff at the Red Lion were incredibly accommodating, from the front desk to our amazing coordinator, Samantha. They exceeded every expectation and truly made our wedding day a dream. We loved it so much that we stayed again a year later, and we’re so grateful we chose the Red Lion so we can continue coming back to celebrate our anniversaries in a place that means so much to us.

No Place Better than The Red Lion Inn
The Red Lion Inn will always have a special place in our hearts. From the very beginning, we were blown away. It was our FIRST venue tour and we immediately fell in love. With the instant smell of the wood burning stove and warmth from the staff, we signed right then and there.
Sean and I got married on Friday October 24th, but had the pleasure of starting off our wedding celebrations the night before! Our family and friends were greeted by Nancy and Andrew (two of the nicest people ever) at the front desk and checked into their cozy rooms. Our rehearsal dinner was in the Hillside House, where we were served an amazing dinner and had great service from all the staff. The party then continued to The Cave for some late night music and dancing before this bride had to go to bed for the big day ahead.
All of us getting ready for the wedding together all at the same property was not only logistically perfect, but also SO much fun. The girls got ready in the Hillside House while the guys had a drink in The Tavern before all the festivities began. The property is stunning, especially with the fall foliage, and was the perfect backdrop for our first look and photos.
Now, no one knows how to throw a party quite like Krystel and Toufik! There was not a moment that passed throughout the entire day where Sean and I had to ask for anything. They were always at our side and so helpful, supportive, and calming. I can’t say enough about Krystel’s help throughout the entire wedding planning process. She got back to me so fast about every single question (and I’m sure some were crazy) and always made me feel like she was there for whatever we needed. She even offered to help us out at the church when we were in need of a coordinator. She thinks of every detail but carries herself with such ease and grace and never seems stressed. And Toufik is truly a wedding superhero! Whether he was helping us cut the cake or bringing rescue seltzer water to get a stain off my dress at the end of the night (yes, my husband spilt ketchup on my wedding dress at the after party-lol). Our parents and friends all commented on how helpful they both were.
We have done nothing but smile as we think back to our wedding day. We truly couldn’t have imagined it anywhere but The Red Lion Inn. We can not wait to visit soon ❤️❤️❤️ We love you RLI team!

Best Day Ever. DO IT NOW if your even considering
ABSOLUTELY worth every penny. It was the most magical day not only for us but for our guests. Sam was our coordinator and see was Fantastic! She heard about our vision and ensured it came true. We had a hiccup with florals and she fixed everything before we even knew. Two fish was amazing. Keeping us feed and hydrated. He was there immediately for any need and could read you face. Never had to think twice with this group. 20/10 would recommend.

A dream come true!
I can't say enough about how incredible our wedding was at the Red Lion Inn. We got married in the Barn and it was STUNNING. Krystel was so helpful and accessible throughout the whole planning process and the day-of coordination between her, Toufik, and the rest of the staff was incredible. We wanted for nothing and I couldn't recommend them enough. The food was delicious (both cocktail hour and reception) and the execution was flawless. Having an after party and place to stay the night onsite was ideal and the innkeeper, Andrew, was so friendly and helpful. This day was magical!

The perfect day!
From the moment we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted a day that reflected “us”. What we didn't anticipate was how flawlessly that vision would be executed, all thanks to our amazing event producer Sam.
Her attention to detail was unparalleled. From the initial consultations to the final walk-through, she listened attentively, offered creative solutions, and ensured every aspect of our wedding was meticulously planned. Her collaboration with us was seamless, making the entire process enjoyable and stress-free.
On the day of our wedding, everything went according to plan. The venue was beautifully set up, the vendors were coordinated perfectly, and we were able to relax and enjoy every moment, knowing that Sam had everything under control. We got married May 31, 2025 at the Red Lion Inn and Barn and would definitely recommend the venue and the folks that work there! We had a great experience and honestly, the venue itself is gorgeous and speaks for itself. From the beginning, the Red Lion staff was organized and communicated promptly. We were able to tour the venue the same week we inquired about info! Krystel Enko was our coordinator and she made everything so seamless - from helping decide on decor and scheduling to wrangling our loved ones to be in the right place day of, Krystel did it all and made us feel special and taken care of. On the day of, Toufik, Krystel, and the rest of the RLI staff had thought of everything and made the day so special! Everything went so smoothly and the RLI group was on top of everything so we were able to trust in them and truly enjoy the day.

Dream Wedding!!
From the moment we reached out on Zola, The Red Lion Inn team was nothing short of incredible. Responsive, helpful, and genuinely invested in making our day perfect. We were lucky enough to be paired with Sam as our wedding producer, and I truly can’t say enough good things. She was an absolute rock throughout the entire planning process—supportive of all our wild DIY ideas and always focused on making our vision come to life! Thanks to her, we had the wedding of our dreams!
Toufik was a total hero the entire wedding weekend! He was the first one there and the last one to leave, constantly checking in to make sure we had everything we needed. From keeping our glasses full to helping unload cars and organizing all of our things, he went above and beyond in every way.
Andrew, the innkeeper, was also so kind and helpful throughout—his warmth and care didn’t go unnoticed.

Best venue ever!!! Beautiful and amazing service
Getting married at the Red Lion Inn was truly the best decision we’ve made. From Day 1, everyone at the RLI was so helpful and communicative, the experience was so seamless, and the day turned out to be so perfect. We have received so many compliments from friends and family about the gorgeous venue, how smooth everything ran day-of, and how much fun they had. Truly cannot recommend couples to get married here more.
Our wedding coordinator was Sam Loonie and she is FANTASTIC. She is so professional, buttoned up, kept us on track throughout the entire process, easy and kind to work with. She made everything on this day so wonderful and we can’t say thank you enough. She was so responsive and always available to chat through our questions, provided us with great suggestions throughout the process, and kept everything running so smoothly day-of so that we could focus on getting married and enjoying the day. The rest of the staff at RLI was also so helpful and kind. Andrew, the Inn Keeper and his team, were so kind and helpful. The staff, especially Faurik, who made sure we had everything we needed throughout the day from getting ready to the after party. Amazing Venue & Staff
Our wedding at the Red Lion Inn this past fall was nothing short of incredible. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect late September day, and we owe so much of that to Sam Loonie and her amazing team. Sam, I can’t thank you enough for answering all my emails and making the entire planning process feel effortless. You and your team took care of every detail—even the ones we never would have thought of.
Throughout the night, our guests kept coming up to us to rave about the incredible staff, the stunning venue, and how it was the best wedding they had ever attended. The Red Lion Inn played such a huge role in making that happen.
From the months leading up to our wedding to the big day itself, you took such great care of Jordan and me. My glass was never empty, and the attentiveness from Toufik was absolutely outstanding. Thank you for everything—you made our wedding truly unforgettable!

The Perfect Wedding Venue!
We had the most unforgettable wedding at the Red Lion Inn, and it was all thanks to their incredible team! Sam Loonie, our coordinator, went above and beyond. She was always quick to respond to my many detailed emails and worked with us to bring all of our specific personal requests to life. She took care of every little detail so I could enjoy getting ready without a worry in the world. Toufik, the banquet manager, was amazing too—he was always checking in on us and even arranged an impromptu cheese platter when we realized we hadn’t eaten all day! He kept everything running smoothly and somehow always had an eye on us, making sure we never had to wait for anything. It made us feel so special! Jan, the head bartender, was so much fun – she helped us create specialty cocktails and brought such great energy to our guests. Thank you for making that spiked hot cocoa bar happen! All our guests were saying how amazing the food was and the after-party at the tavern was the perfect way to cap off the night. And the guest rooms made this venue extra special, having our closest family and friends all under one roof made the whole day run so smoothly. Everything, from the moment we arrived to the time we left, was perfect, and we owe it all to Sam and the amazing staff at the Red Lion Inn.

Perfection
I will start from the very beginning. My fiancé and I were not exactly on the same page for the location of our wedding; I wanted to stay local and he was thinking of a weekend get away. I convinced him to go look at the Red Lion Inn, even though it is only 15 minutes from our house. When we walked in to the venue, he said "Wow, this is beautiful," and he was sold. From that moment on, we worked with our wedding coordinator, Samantha, to plan our big day. She was helpful, responsive, pleasant, patient, and kind. We seriously could not have asked for a better planning experience. We also worked with the Inn Keeper, Andrew, to plan our room blocks, and he was so welcoming and warm. Now, the day of (October 25, 2024), was absolutely perfect. We did not have one worry in the world- everything was taken care of before we even thought of it. The overall aesthetic of the day was picture perfect. But, let me tell you about what you cannot see in pictures- and what is more important- how you are treated. When we say that ALL STAFF were (and are) phenomenal, we mean it. It truly did not feel like they were "working"- it felt as if they were hosting us and our guests, and were more than happy to do so. It is now three weeks later, and our family and friends are still talking about our wedding; how much fun they had, how great the food was, how nice everyone was, and how it was the most beautiful wedding they have ever been to!

The epitome of hospitality
We got married at the RLI on 11/1/2024. When you’re looking for a venue, you look at the obvious things: the location, the food, the way it looks. In these categories, RLI is amazing, but where it really excels is its staff. One thing you don’t think about when venue shopping is: how will the staff treat me on my wedding day? And it does truly make or break the experience! I have been in plenty of weddings where the venue treated us like another wedding on a long list. At RLI, we were treated like unique individuals and truly like royalty from the second we booked the venue. Our coordinator, Krystel, was responsive, helpful, and friendly. On the day of, she was a true super star and you would never have known we were at the end of peak wedding season for her. When my MOHs couldn’t get my very advanced bustle working, Krystel spent 45 minutes doing it for us, and laughing with us as we tried to figure it out. Toufik, the banquet manager, was absolutely lovely. He always had a smile on his face and had food ready for us to try at every turn. Andrew, the innkeeper, made all our friends and family feel right at home. This is a true team of hospitality professionals. We LOVED our wedding and cannot recommend the RLI highly enough! If you’re on the fence, book it now! 🤍

Picture perfect wedding venue
We absolutely fell in love with the Red Lion Inn when we saw it. It had the rustic barn charm we were looking for and made it easy for us to hold all of our events in one place. We were lucky enough to work with Krystel as our planner. She was very professional and super easy to communicate with during the entire planning process as well as on our wedding day. We couldn’t imagine having our wedding anywhere else and loved every minute we were able to spend at the Red Lion Inn. And we can’t wait to go back to celebrate our anniversaries!

Samantha Loonie was our wedding coordinator and truly went above and beyond from day one. On the day of everything was so organized and perfect. The staff at RLI were so good that guests were coming up to us saying how impressed they were by the service. The venue itself is also stunning, perfect for any season!

The perfect day, thanks to the perfect venue
The second we visited RLI when searching for venues, we knew Red Lion Inn was the perfect venue for us. Not only is it absolutely gorgeous and provided the aesthetic we were looking for, but the staff could not have been more amazing. During our visit, Soli was so helpful in answering all of our questions and touring us through the property. We could not have been luckier to have Jen has our wedding producer. Jen was with us every step of the way from helping us find vendors, to coordinating with them, and bringing our vision to life. She was truly amazing and the day would not have been the same without her. Andrew and Toufik were just as incredible. Toufik was there any time we needed him throughout the night, and sometimes was there even if we didn’t know we needed him (but always did). Andrew was so accommodating to all of our guests and really went above and beyond to make them feel comfortable. Without these amazing individuals and the rest of the staff, our day would not have been the most perfect day it ended up being. Truly, the day could not have gone better in any way. We owe them our forever thanks for creating the most incredible wedding to start our married lives that we could have asked for.

Fantastic!
We had the pleasure of hosting our wedding at The Red Lion Inn over Thanksgiving weekend 2023! Words can’t describe how magical our day was. We can’t say enough good things about the entire process of wedding planning and the day itself. Our wedding coordinator Samantha Loonie guided us every step of the way making some of the overwhelming tasks seem effortless and exciting. She was available every time we had a question and guided us through all of the decisions we had to make! She made the entire process fun and helped make all of our ideas come to life! Our day of staff was amazingly helpful with anything we or our guests needed. Our guests can’t stop raving about how delicious the food and drink was. Overall, we are so very pleased with how everything came together and we wish we could do it all over again! Can’t wait to go back to The RLI for our anniversary dinner and hopefully attend another wedding there someday!

The red lion inn team was super helpful with everything. They made sure everything ran smoothly and they were great about streamlining the day in an organized manner. We did not need to worry or think about anything they had everything handled. We loved having our reception there and having our after party at the bar area. It was perfect!

Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion!
We couldn't have chosen a better venue for our December 2023 wedding than the Red Lion Inn! Its charm and beauty were absolutely perfect for our winter celebration. Working with Sam leading up to the wedding was a dream; she was incredibly attentive, always providing solutions to our many questions and ensuring flawless execution on the big day. Toufik also played a vital role day of, ensuring our comfort and happiness throughout. We truly did not have to worry about one thing and were able to enjoy the day so much. The entire staff at the Red Lion Inn are so kind and genuinely care, making our experience truly unforgettable. Our guests were equally impressed by the atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommend this venue for any special occasion!

Incredible venue
I can’t say enough wonderful things about the staff at the Red Lion. Every single person, from consultation to morning after brunch, helped us in every way they could. I felt so supported, and knew they had the hard stuff taken care of! Jennifer Crook is the best, and she will have your back the entire process! The food is incredible, the venue is stunning, the rooms are amazing, and the staff are top notch. My husband and I are already planning a weekend trip to stay there again! They take care of all of the hard stuff so you can focus on enjoying your day!

f you are lucky enough to have come across The Red Lion Inn for a venue, do not look any further. My husband and I got married here last a few weeks ago. I cannot fully express how special it was. The people working at the Inn from Andrew the innkeeper to the waitstaff are kind, accommodating, and so responsive. Krystel was our wedding coordinator and Toufik was our event manager, They both were INCREDIBLE. The day was so smooth and enjoyable because of them and their attention to all details. We had nothing to worry about because of them. I have had all of my guests tell me it was the best wedding they have ever been to. The food was amazing, the venue was beautiful and the service was unmatched. If money was of no concern, I would get married here yearly. I cannot thank The Red Lion Inn enough for making our wedding day the most special day of our lives. We love them so much!

Beyond expectations
Family, friends and ourselves were absolutely enamored by our wedding in August 2023. Sam was great to work with throughout and Toufik was incredibly kind night of - bringing leftover dinner to our room and making sure we had anything we needed. Cannot recommend this venue and its incredible staff, food and spaces more!!

The best day
I could not recommend them enough!! They took care of everything and made our day so totally seamless if anything went wrong we had no idea about it!! The wedding coordinators are amazing from start to finish! Anything we needed even if we didn’t know we needed it they handled everything!! And the venue was beautiful!! Dream winter wedding
We worked with Krystel who truly made everything happen no matter the ask. From beautifully arranging my memorial table / DIY Photo Booth to making sure everyone with a food allergy had the right meal to everything in between she made our wedding absolutely perfect. The venue itself is cozy and beautiful and guests described the vibe as “feeling like a warm hug” which says it all. The food was incredible and everyone on the staff was attentive and ensured the wedding went according to plan. Best experience and would highly recommend to any future brides!

Absolute Dream
Our best decision was choosing the Red Lion Inn for our venue. Krystel was there for us throughout the entire process and made wedding planning so fun. She was there for every question and ran the wedding itself like an absolute pro. We loved that the tasting was an event for all couples (and their parents) with dates close to ours and we truly got to try every potential dish. Also we have received SO many compliments on our food and our guests were in awe with the barn. Toufik and Krystel made sure we got to enjoy every bit of our wedding, made sure we ate, and didn't miss a single detail. You get more than you pay for at this venue! We are still on cloud 9!!

Best wedding venue!
The Red Lion Inn was the most incredible venue for our wedding in Jul 2023! We were looking for an upscale barn venue that was close to an airport since we had several guests from out of state and the Red Lion was just that. The first time we toured, my husband and I were sold. The barn has so much charm and the whole property is beautiful. Our wedding team and everyone we met at the Inn were friendly, organized, professional and ready to help with anything. Special shoutout to Sam, our amazing wedding coordinator, Toufik, our event coordinator, and Andrew, the innkeeper. Sam helped us from the day we signed our contract, organizing the little details and ensuring the ceremony and reception ran on smoothly and on schedule, putting us at ease. With the Inn, we were able to have access to the whole property on our wedding day. I got ready with my bridesmaids in the beautiful Hillside House, our ceremony and reception were in the barn and the after party was in the tavern. We were also able to rent the inn rooms on the night of the wedding. I cannot recommend the Red Lion Inn enough for your wedding!

10/10 Recommend - Simply The Best!
From the moment we walked into The Red Lion Inn, we knew it was the place for us and would host the wedding of our dreams. It did not disappoint! We booked our September 2022 wedding in August of 2020. Let’s start with the people… Being that we booked the venue two years prior (and during the time we booked it), we went through a few different coordinators. At the time, this was a bit nerve-wracking; however, we could not have been more grateful we ended up working with Krystel. Throughout the entire process, Krystel was extremely communicative, well-prepared, professional, attentive, and kind. She made our vision come to life the day of the wedding, and always made sure we were well taken care of throughout the day/night. I’d be remiss to not mention Toufik as well – the best! Running about all day/night ensuring that everyone was well taken care of. The professional and hardworking nature of the day-of-staff is a testament to Toufik is his amazing personality. Lastly, Andrew the Innkeeper is absolutely wonderful. Andrew was extremely helpful during the room block process; upon our arrival, we were greeted with his infectious smile. The Inn’s charm and character is a reflection of Andrew. Now the venue – it speaks for itself when you walk in the door. It is cozy, warming, welcoming, casual elegance… everything you could want for a rustic yet elegant vibe. Our ceremony and reception were held in the barn, cocktail hour in the Hillside House, after party in the Cave, and a post-wedding brunch in The Tavern. We had about 185 guests and everyone was extremely comfortable at all points of the evening and next morning. That leads me to the food – truly chef’s kiss. That’s the only way to really describe how phenomenal and delicious everything was from the cocktail hour to dinner to the brunch the next day. A huge thank you to The Red Lion Inn for making our special day just that – truly special. We cannot wait to come back and visit for our first anniversary and for many more special moments to come. Thrilled and Over the Moon Pleased!
Choosing The Red Lion Inn for our wedding was the best decision we made! All the staff that work there are incredibly kind and helpful. They make you feel special on your wedding day and you can feel completely secure in the fact that they have everything handled. Everyone who works there is a professional in the event business. Also, I have never been to a wedding where the food is as good as it is at The Red Lion Inn. I have received so many compliments on the food from guests. I just wish I remembered to eat more! It is also such a treat to have special guests stay at the inn with you on your wedding night. I loved how we were able to meet up the next morning to talk about all the fun memories. We chose both the tavern and the cave for our after-party and it made the night so much more fun because guests were able to quickly get from the barn and continue with the night. Other weddings I have been to with after parties usually require a shuttle to get guests closer to their hotels and guests lose their momentum to keep going. However, at The Red Lion Inn, the after party is right on the venue location! A special shoutout to Rachel, Toufik, and Andrew as they are the reason why we are so happy with how our wedding turned out. I cannot recommend enough booking this venue for your wedding!

Absolutely Amazing experience!
We have zero negative comments about our experience at the Red Lion Inn. Our wedding was absolutely amazing and it went off perfectly! Our coordinator, Jennifer, was out of this world. She was incredibly responsive to all of our questions. Jennifer and her team also did a wonderful job taking the idea that I had in my head and making it real - from our welcome, escort and in memorial tables, to all of the place settings, we couldn't have been happier. Getting ready on-site was very helpful and the staff made the whole wedding party feel welcome and supported. Kudos to the entire staff at Red Lion Inn for making helping to make our day so perfect! The 10am check-out the next day was a little rough after our fun night but being able to stay onsite was very helpful too. I highly recommend using some of their suggested vendors as well, as they are familiar with the property already.

Gorgeous wedding venue with amazing staff!
Absolutely LOVE everything about the Red Lion Inn! It is the gorgeous rustic barn style that I had always dreamed of for my wedding day. It was so convenient for guests to have ceremony, cocktail hour to reception in one area. From the outside it looks like just a cute Inn, but behind the inn is absolutely beautiful gardens and there are infinite amount of gorgeous photo opportunities.
We had an exceptional day and major shout out to Rachel, our producer, who is absolutely outstanding and made everything so incredibly easy and fun. Sam, Toufik and Andrew were also wonderful to work with throughout the planning and day off. The rest of the staff at the RLI were also incredible. We have nothing but good things to say about our whole experience. I highly recommend the RLI for a seamless and beautiful wedding day!

The Red Lion Inn was the perfect location for our wedding. Not only does the property offer a beautiful setting for pictures, but the barn and loft also make for a unique and charming environment for the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Additionally, our day was made even more perfect thanks to the amazing team and staff we were working with from beginning to end - especially our Event Producer, Rachel, and Event Manager, Toufik. Loved Red Lion Inn!!
Loved, loved, loved! We had our reception at Red Lion in March, and it was a dream!
First off, the Red Lion Inn's barn is so beautiful. As soon as we walked in, I knew that's where I wanted the wedding. The beautiful chandeliers against the wood, the statement staircase, the exposed rock behind the stairs, the themed bar on the main floor *chef's kiss*. I loved it all, and it was great for our wedding photos. Plus, they provide a speakeasy bar in the basement for an afterparty! That was insane. Our friends had SO much (too much) fun there.
As for the catering/bar services - also great! At the food tasting event, they had some really great options that made it hard to pick. We went with the Halibut, Bistro Filet, & Mediterranean Eggplant, and the food was outstanding on the day of the wedding. Even my hard-to-please, foodie parents were impressed! We also got the open bar, and those bartenders did not hold back or water down the drinks. It was a full on party! Definitely happy we dished out the extra $$ for the bar.
Also, we LOVED our wedding coordinator, Jennifer Crook. She was amazing to work with - organized, detail-oriented, responsive, and hilarious. She helped us figure out all the small details, and she was patient with us when we were indecisive/confused. Plus, she was just a fun person to be around, which is a very nice bonus! From my point of view, the wedding day went so smooth, which likely means Jennifer was hard at work in the background.
Finally, the area of Cohasset is so cute! The Inn is located in the heart of the little town where there are a few cute shops/restaurants. And you're very close to the beach!
I will warn, it's a small, mostly residential town. So ubers aren't going to be readily available for your guests, and out of town guests might want to rent a car. We had the majority of our guests stay at the Nantasket Beach Resort in Hull & provided a bus for them to/from the wedding. I'd definitely recommend that, especially if you do an open bar!
So overall, would highly recommend the Red Lion Inn. The staff is great, the venue is stunning, the food is high quality, and the town is cute! My husband and I are looking forward to future anniversaries when we can go back and stay at the Inn again!

My son had his wedding here and I can't say enough about Jennifer and Toufik. They were amazing and help make the entire night the most amazing memoriable night! Winter Wedding
We had our wedding in December and it was absolutely perfect! The barn and the Inn were the perfect setting for our winter wedding. We worked with Jen who was abled to guide us through the planning process. She was very patient and helpful, very easy to work with. The barn is beautiful on its own before we decorated and the food was delicious.
I recently had my wedding at the Red Lion Inn and it was absolutely PERFECT. Sharada worked tirelessly to make sure that everything went to plan on the big day through numerous phone calls and emails. She was very patient, kind, and professional and I cannot thank her enough for her attention to detail, especially with regards to food allergies. Sharada and her staff were extremely accommodating and truly made my wedding the best day ever. The food was delicious and the atmosphere was divine - the rustic feel of the barn is magical and the cave was a blast to have for the after-party! Additionally, the rooms at the Red Lion Inn are truly unique and special - each room was spacious and extremely comfortable. I would highly recommend booking Red Lion Inn for your wedding or big event 😊

I can not say enough good things about the Red Lion Inn and their staff. After finding out that the only date still available in October 2018 was in a Friday was a Friday night I almost walked away but after viewing the venue and speaking with Bill, I could not walk away...which turned out to be the best decision. Being a type A control freak this allowed me to start setting up a few days in advance and then fully enjoy my wedding day. The whole staff from was truly amazing leading up to the night and through. For the perfect wedding venue I would recommend this to everyone!

Our wedding at the Red Lion Inn in 7/1/2018 was an absolute DREAM!!!! It was everything we ever wanted and more. The day went perfectly to plan. Our experience working with the Red Lion Inn was terrific and it had a lot to do with our/The Red Lion Inn wedding coordinator Sharada! She was AMAZING, so professional, responsive, kind and extremely accommodating. We had many folks from Europe at the wedding and the little personal details that she made happen were recognized and appreciated, this meant so much to us. The venue speaks for itself - it really is so beautiful, the food was absolutely delicious, and Sharada’s day of team was GREAT! The cave was super fun as well. Highly recommend the late night snacks! It is such a special venue. I had full confidence that the day would go smoothly and was VERY impressed with every aspect and detail of the day. Our daughter Lindsay was married there last Friday November 17, 2017. This was one of the most incredible nights of our lives. There was no regrets. We literally racked our brains to see if there was anything missed or overlooked. Nope. The Red Lion Inn was, by far, the coolest event venue for anyone who is into the rustic scene. It was my daughter's absolute dream wedding. The food was absolute perfection. The filet mignon was so soft you could have cut it with a spoon! Then there is the after party at the Cave. What a cool place. Our guests couldn't get over the food that was served there either. The sliders, pizza, and chicken fingers were to die for! Everyone kept commenting about that! Everyone was incredibly accommodating from Katie (at the front desk, to Jen (the wedding coordinator) , to Tofik who does absolutely everything for everyone. They are an incredible asset to the Red Lion Inn. They were absolutely wonderful to our family. They made sure to keep the communication open and kept their word in everything they promised. Our only regret is that the evening is over. Thank you so much for your professionalism and making the night one of the best memories for our family and everyone else who attended. AWESOME!

I am so happy that my husband and I chose the Red Lion Inn for our October 22nd wedding. We had the ceremony and reception on site and the entire day was magical. Our wedding coordinator, Jen, was amazing. She was beyond accommodating and worked with us to bring our vision to life. She went out of her way to make sure everything was perfect. Jen was extremely responsive to all emails and calls and is so organized. She met with my mother and I several times in order to get in all of the details! The Red Lion is so lucky to have her on board as one of their coordinators. I must be honest, the beginning of my planning process with the Red Lion was not the smoothest. There was unfortunately quick turn over in coordinators/management and we had a very hard time getting in touch with someone when we had questions and were in the planning process. Once Jen came on board that quickly changed. She made the entire process so easy!!
The Red Lion Inn surpassed my expectations in all areas.
The food was outstanding. Our family and friends are still raving about it! Everything was delicious, full of flavor and presented beautifully. The service was also great! Bar and wait staff were extremely responsive to guests and were very pleasant :) After the reception, we had the after party in "The Cave" and continued the celebrations. We had buffalo chicken and pizza served down there which was great! It was such a fun night. I would also like to thank the staff Toufig (hopefully I spelled that correctly) for being extremely helpful during the reception/after party and in the morning. He also went out of his way to deliver some of our cupcakes with a bottle of champagne to our room for after the festivities. Thank you so much!
Everything came together so well. I would highly recommend the Red Lion Inn for your wedding, and Jen as a wedding coordinator if she's available!

When searching for the wedding venue of my dreams, I knew it needed to be elegant, rustic, accommodating, and beautiful. The Red Lion Inn was everything I could have asked for and more! The grounds in which the Red Lion Inn has to offer is well maintained, beautifully designed, and offers so much space for the guests to enjoy. Everything from the cocktail hour, drinks, entrees, waitstaff, and bartenders was picture perfect and helped make my wedding day so enjoyable. The driving force behind my wedding day was Jen, the event coordinator at the Red Lion Inn. Jen was knowledgeable about the venue, responsive to my emails, organized, professional and most importantly, caring. Jen put so much effort into my wedding, as if she was the one getting married! I can't thank her enough for making my day run so smooth.
The after party was held at The Cave which is located on-site and offered a place for all the guests to enjoy late night snacks such a cheeseburgers, chicken fingers, and french fries. We had music, drinks, and food to keep the party going! The next morning, the Red Lion Inn set up a brunch for any guests who stayed the evening. The food was delicious and the guests thoroughly enjoyed another opportunity for everyone to celebrate.
Prior to booking The Red Lion Inn, I read reviews on this website from past brides who seemed unsatisfied with the venue. I am so glad that I was able to experience this venue and all it has to offer, first hand. Looking back at my wedding I would not change a single thing, as it was a dream come true!

We recently had a wedding here and chose to get married on a Thursday night due to availability and affordability. From the very beginning the coordinator we worked with, Sharada, was very responsive and great to work with. The night of support staff was also wonderful from the bartenders and servers, but also, Toufik, who really helped make the barn look exactly how we pictured. They even made it possible to find a very specific beer my fiance and i really enjoy that is difficult to find. They really know what they are doing with weddings being held at their venue and we found they are really flexible in letting you make the day what you want. I also like that when we were unsure of a decision, Sharada, was really able to help make great recommendations that really fit with our vision. There was initially some confusion with booking hotel rooms, but about half way throughout planning there was one contact we worked with specifically, which made it much easier and more organized.

My wedding was a DREAM COME TRUE at the Red Lion Inn. Sharada was our wedding coordinator. She answered all of our questions whenever needed and made sure everything was great on the day. From the planning process to the wedding day she was in constant contact with us, answering our questions, giving us ideas, and helping us plan every step of the way. She did an amazing job!
The rehearsal dinner was fantastic we had it at the Atlantica and everyone enjoyed it! The cheesecake was phenomenal!!! As for the wedding day, I felt like I was in a dream! Everything at the Red Lion Inn was incredible. The bridal suite was AMAZING. Having that spot to get ready was so awesome. Everyone complimented on the food and the staff how attentive they were. People had a blast!
Cody the bartender was AWESOME! He made drinks so well and all my guests were SO happy with him. He made a lot of peoples night. Also he was an awesome bartender on Thursday night before the wedding. I highly recommend him for any other events!
Tofik was literally incredible. He was in charge of the Red Lion Inn on the wedding day. I'm not sure that man ever sleeps! Anything I needed he was there and helped me. I appreciate everything he did for us. He helped with anything we needed on the day we set everything up. He made sure our rooms were all set up and okay. He answered any of my questions that I had. He made sure we even had food and cake placed in our room from the after party. He is super super amazing I cant give him enough credit. He even had everything cleaned up in the morning and things like my cake cutting set all washed and placed back in my room.

We had our daughte's wedding at The Red Lion Inn and it was exquisite! Kaycee was our wedding coordinator. She did not miss a detail. She was the most professional, detail oriented, pleasant person to deal with. Everything went smoothly and in a timely fashion. Every guest commented on what a wonderful time they had. Myself and my wife had amazing time at our wedding here at the red lion inn!! Honestly I can't say enough about the venue and the staff! The venue speaks for itself the beautiful look it has just creates a great vibe. Our wedding coordinator Kacee was absolutely amazing fully commitment to making our day amazing and fun as well as stress free. The food was outstanding 10/10 and that's from my wife who is a chef herself! Again we can't thank Kacee and the red lion inn staff enough. The Director of Events, Beverlei MacNeil, was a dream to work with on both our wedding ceremony space and our reception space and dinner. From the moment we met her, we knew that we were in good hands. She shared in our joy and excitement of being engaged and planning our wedding plus she had vast experience in flawless functions. She executed everything perfectly from the set-up and organization of our ceremony: the seats, the table for the unity candle, directing the wedding party procession and even straightening my train before I walked. The reception was also perfectly done by Beverlei. The table centerpieces, table numbers, wedding favors, a beautifully decorated table and stand for our wedding cake. From the big details to the little, Beverlei gave us the wedding ceremony and reception that we envisioned. She was a delight to work with and a calm, experienced professional who reassured us during our excitement and nervousness. We cannot thank her enough for all of her and her staff’s hard work.

From the moment we stepped into the barn at the Red Lion Inn we knew it was the place we wanted to get married. The venue has so much character and such warmth, it was exactly what we wanted for our vintage/DIY wedding. We started off with a wedding planner from the Red Lion who had to take a medical leave half way through our event planning and just when we started to painic, Beverlei stepped in. I cannot say enough about how amazing she was. She was not only better than our original wedding planner, but she was organized, took time to get to know us and become our friend, and really have our special day be everything we wanted and more. She responded to emails and phone calls quickly, met with us often and put our minds at ease. We did not worry one bit about our reception, which is key when you are trying to plan multiple vendors, guests, etc. for your wedding. Having her handle everything was a big “to do” off our plate and we were so thankful for her. When the day finally came, we stepped into the barn and everything was set up exactly how we wanted it. Beverlei paid attention to all of our details and made them really shine. The staff the day of our wedding was also amazing, the food was delicious, and I cannot say enough about the giant dance floor. Everyone danced through the night, which was exactly what we wanted. After the reception was over, we rented out “The Cave” and had more food and time with guests, as we did not want the day to end. Another positive of having your wedding at the Red Lion was that guests could stay right onsite and not have to worry about driving afterwards. I highly recommend having your wedding at the Red Lion and having Beverlei as your planner. I wish I could relive the day. Guests still tell us it was the best wedding they have ever been to and I may be bias, but could not agree more!

Had Sunday afternoon wedding at the Red Lion Inn and it was absolutely beautiful. Everything went perfect. Elizabeth Locke was my wedding planner and she was amazing. She thought of things and made suggestions that I would not have thought of. We had a Christmas themed wedding and it was breathtaking. Guests were raving about the food and the atmosphere - we have nothing at all to say that went wrong, The bridal suite is beautiful - I did write the value at 5 stars - this is not an inexpensive place to get married but the price fit the venue.

I can't say enough about The Red Lion Inn. My wedding was a dream come true and an absolutely perfect day. This venue was just what I had always wanted, rustic and elegant, and as we got acquainted with Elizabeth and the rest of the staff, it began to feel like a second home. Every time I stepped into the venue I felt like a princess. My guests can't stop talking about what a wonderful wedding we had, and how beautiful the Lion's Hall was. Not to mention the food! In addition to Elizabeth's sincere kindness and attention to detail, my husband and I are also so grateful for Bill, who provided complimentary dance lessons for us! And for Madison, who stayed with us the entire day of the wedding, all through the night, and even during our after party in The Cave (another on-site bonus!) Our wedding party filled all of the rooms in the Inn and thoroughly enjoyed their stay. I wouldn't have changed a second of my wedding day and am so glad I was able to have it here, on a Thursday night, too (no food and beverage minimum)!

I just got married a week ago and I can't stop smiling. This place is beautiful. I got up the morning of my wedding and walked to the salon that was within walking distance (Rudolph Adamo) to get my hair & make up done with my bridesmaids and mom. Then from there, we all got dressed in the Salon de soliel at the Red Lion Inn which is also used for cocktail hour. We were able to take awesome pictures and enjoy getting ready in an open room together. When we were ready to go, we walked through the best part (to me) of the inn, the covered bridges to get to the Lion's hall where the reception was held. After that, we finished that night off with an after party in the Cave. The night went by fast, but I enjoyed every minute of it! I loved having everything within walking distance of one another. I don't regret anything!!

Best day ever!!! I have no words to explain how fantastic the entire process was from start to finish. The staff at red lion inn is top notch. The service is impeccable. Even though sometimes emails take time to respond they always get back to you and it all works out. They are relaxed and poised at weddings. They definitely know what they are doing. Elizabeth is fabulous and lovely. Bill is incredible. Oscar at the front desk is kind and accommodating. I can't even list all the great players! The rooms are splendid and perfect for a romantic weekend! The bridal suite was magical. Again best day ever!!!! I even had a Friday night and Sunday morning event!!!

We booked this venue over a year from the wedding and from the first meeting to the wedding day last month they were always available, flexible and professional. They were very organized and helpful with pre-wedding planning and during the ceremony and reception everything went like clock work. They also provided excellent vendor suggestions.
The food was outstanding, the site very beautiful, and the staff couldn't have been more available or flexible.

We had the most amazing wedding at The Red Lion Inn in November, 2013. We worked with Beverlei who was "over the top" helpful, resourceful and always available to answer all questions and concerns. She executed exactly everything we requested for our big day. She remained there the entire evening and made sure our wedding and reception was perfect. There was nothing we would change but can offer some advice to others.
We had four months to put together our wedding of 180 guests. We chose to be married in the barn, have cocktails upstairs and then come down to dinner. We were at capacity with everyone dining downstairs but did not feel crowded. We did not choose the "salon" for cocktails as we did not want to lose that time herding everyone over there and we were so glad we kept everything in the barn.
We had a 7 piece band that added so much liveliness to the evening. We chose an open bar by consumption and there were no surprises with the bill whatsoever. There was a raw bar that was fresh and got great reviews.
There was a choice of swordfish or short ribs. We and all our guests we spoke to agreed they were great choices. We went to the two cake tastings, chose Montilio's and had the florist decorate that day with fresh flowers.
The only thing I might consider changing if I had it do over again is taking the pictures before the ceremony. I wanted to see my husband for the first time as I walked down the isle but not so sure it was worth missing most of the cocktail hour and at that the photos were rushed. Give it some serious thought.

I couldn't say enough wonderful things about the Red Lion Inn and the wonderful team of people we worked with there! First of all, it is beyond gorgeous, and it looks even more beautiful with the candles and the up lighting (all included) at night. Also, the food was delicious from start to finish, although I'll admit that I'm biased towards the short ribs. Finally, and most importantly, Elizabeth was an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the entire process. She was fair, responsive, and highly competent from start to finish. You could easily tell she's been running weddings at the RLI for many years now, and she knows how to do it right. If you are considering a barn wedding in the boston area! this is a must see venue!!

Our wedding day was PERFECT! I can't say anymore than that. Elizabeth and her staff provided such a high quality of service. All of our guests can't stop talking about how beautiful the wedding was. The food was amazing! The staff was so helpful in the set up and tear down process and anything I needed (tape, scissors, a corkscrew) they found for me no questions asked.

Our daughters wedding was more than we ever expected! All our guests have told us what an amazing wedding it was and keep raving about the appetizers and the dinner menu. Elizabeth our wedding coordinator managed every detail flawlessly and helped make each moment special. The maitre d for the evening was wonderful too...staying behind the scene but making sure our guest and we were happy.

I am the least detailed person ever. I wanted to buy a dress and show up for my wedding and hope for the best. The Red Lion Inn allowed me to do this. Elena was so detailed and so hopeful I can not express my gratitude for her. On the night of our wedding I was not bothered with a single thing. In fact the anti-bridal bride was guided gracefully by the staff that knows weddings better than the best. What a great venue, amazing food, and friendly staff! The Red Lion Inn is a unique venue that is unlike any other place we've ever been for a wedding, and that is exactly why we loved it! The setting is spectacular, the food is the absolute BEST wedding food I've had anywhere (braised short ribs were all the rave!), and the staff, especially coordinator Elena, is an absolute professional who did EVERYTHING to make sure we had everything in place and perfect for the day, and truly cared about us as a couple and our big day.
We had an after party in "the Cave" reserved exclusively for the wedding guests, and it helped keep the party going and was a great atmosphere to be more casual and relax.
The bridal suite (included in the package) is an absolutely beautiful room, and was one more thing that we didn't have to worry about around our wedding.
For a unique venue, terrific food, and great service, the Red Lion Inn in Cohasset is the place to get married!

Beverlei MacNeal was a professional in coordinating and planning the entire evening and she was an absolute pleasure to work with. We had worked with a number of different coordinators during our planning time at Red Lion Inn, which was initially very concerning to us, but thankfully from our very first conversation with Beverlei we knew we were in extremely good hands. I had a lot of complicated requests for the wedding and Beverlei collaborated directly with all the other vendors for delivery and set-up and when guests arrived at 6pm for cocktail hour, the venue looked absolutely gorgeous and every little thing I had planned was perfectly executed. Our family and bridal party all stayed at the inn on the night of our wedding after the fun after-party. The rooms were clean and beautifully maintained when we stayed there. Rim, the innkeeper was extremely helpful and also made sure to meet our very specific requests about room bookings and welcome bags. Red Lion Inn truly provided the wedding of our dreams. The barn looked enchanted, inviting, beautiful, all of the food was delicious. Everyone had a wonderful time dancing the night away. We toured many other venues throughout the South Shore and Boston area and Red Lion Inn was the most unique and inviting space we came across. It was exactly what we were looking for and we were able to add touches to the barn that made it feel truly magical. Beverlei was a joy to work with. She was transparent, responsive, easy to talk to, honest, genuine, hard-working, and reassuring. She made wonderful suggestions and also made sure my voice and desires were heard throughout the process and ultimately went above and beyond. We would highly recommend the Red Lion Inn and are so grateful to everyone there who made our wedding day so perfect. Thank you!

My daughter had her wedding reception at The Red Lion Inn in Cohasset, MA. Elizabeth was her wedding planner and she was excellent. She answered all our questions and helped us with all of the many details to make a perfect night for us. The reception was in the "barn" and it was a perfect place to celebrate. Our guests all commented on the great appetizers and how great the food was. We also stayed at the Inn that night and our room was cozy with a four post bed and fireplace. I would recommend The Red Lion Inn without question. Their professionalism and helpfulness were great!

There have been a handful of negative reviews about this place, but I want to squash them all. I got married a couple weeks ago and it was AMAZING. Soooo many of our guests told us that it was the best wedding reception that they had ever been to. I mainly worked with Elaine and she was great about helping me prepare for the day. A few days before the wedding I met with Armando, who was going to be our wedding coordinator - he was a dream. We went through the exact way I wanted the room set up (it was in Lion's Hall). He has an excellent eye for decorating and offered up even more great ideas :) He was available for the entire length of the reception paying special attention to my and my husband, REALLY taking care of us. He orchestrated the service to a tea - MANY guests said how the waitstaff seemed invisible. The food was delicious - rave reviews! I really could not have been happier. Many of our guests went to the pub at the Red Lion after the reception and everyone was so accomodating. We had bar food brought out to the guests, which was delicious and Gerry, the owner, sat a chatted with some of our guests. We felt right at home :) It was the ultimate New England fall wedding. My theme was simple elegance and the Red Lion helped make it all happen. Thanks again!

Perfect. They know what theyre doing, and they're good at what they do. Our day was perfect, and thats in large part due to the amazing staff at the RLI. Elizabeth, Madysen and Bill were an amazing team who all gave us the personal time and attention we had hoped for. They laughed with us, guided us and supported us through the entire process. BEST DAY EVER all because of the RED LION INN! I was married here on 10/7/2016 on a Friday night with 210 people and we couldn't have asked for a more amazing day to start our new life together. This venue lets you create YOUR wedding - just the way YOU want it! I had a fairytale become my reality. This venue allows you make YOUR day- BUT you have to tell them WHAT YOU WANT! Red Lion Highlights- Appetizers/Food was amazing (we had entrees of short-rib, salmon, and chicken; open bar was exactly what we requested from beer to top shelf selections; Welcome bags were put in the room as requested; after-hours food was great- get the sliders!!! It was awesome!! Bill was my wedding planner and was extremely helpful from the beginning. We had many meetings to discuss each detail of the wedding. I had never planned a wedding and having this meeting was extremely helpful for me to develop all the details within the next 5 months of planning. But because the Red lion Inn has 3-4 weddings a week, I found it to be helpful to be organized with a time line to set the expectations with Bill. BUT he totally did NOT disappoint on the day of the wedding- from planning our appetizer plate at our cocktail hour, to getting our drinks throughout the night, to keeping this bride aware of time and the agenda throughout the wedding. The execution of all the details was FLAWLESS. Bill stepped up to the challenge of making our DAY AMAZING.... AND totally SUCCEEDED. Brides...This place has many weddings and tries to accommodate all brides- which is one thing that is hard to do... but here are some suggestions...Unless you are setting up or have people set up for you, you need to ensure that you have pictures and are very explicit on your decor set-up. The Red lion inn staff was there in the morning to clean up from the wedding the night before and even came in early to help us clean up the morning after. Definitely recommend this place for your Rustic Elegant wedding- It really was perfect!

Elizabeth is an amazing wedding coordinator! She helped make our day so special. As for other employees at the Red Lion Inn, I would beware. Not everyone is as helpful, respectful and caring as Elizabeth! The inn keeper was rude to our guests and called the police because someone went out front to smoke a cigarette with a beer. Apparently having a beer outside warrants the police being involved.

The Red Lion Inn boasts all the components to host “the best wedding ever.” Our expectations were completely blown away! All of our guests raved about the Red Lion Inn; from the staff, to the food, to the guest rooms, every detail was extraordinary! We did book in February to receive a great discount.
Our wedding was in the beautifully spectacular rustic Great Hall, with the “best wedding food ever!” Our party also booked the guest rooms for both Friday and Saturday night, with breakfast each morning.
Elizabeth, the function coordinator, was a god-send. She came in with a little over 3 months left in the planning. Prior to Elizabeth, we were nervous! We immediately felt comfortable and at ease with her. She immediately responded to our inquiries and was very attentive. Elizabeth pleasantly and professionally guided us through every detail and offered great suggestions. She was fun and easy to work with. Elizabeth worked very closely and very well with the owners, the banquet manger Stacy, and Chef Ryan, to ensure every request and detail was met, no matter how trivial. All were very accommodating.
The food was superb! The quality, quantity, and presentation were incredible and served perfectly by an impeccable staff. The ratio of staff to guest was impressive. The breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday were just as scrumptious.
The Inn is charmingly elegant and very clean. The guest rooms are beautiful, very comfortable and very relaxing. Elke was terrific and very patient coordinating the room details. Room Rates were slightly on the high side.
We were able to relax and have a blast at our own wedding because we knew our “Wedding Weekend” was in great hands! The staff at the Red Lion Inn is outstanding and the facility is spectacular.

Red Lion Inn beautiful summer wedding
My daughter’s August 3, 2019 wedding was more beautiful than we had ever imagined. Everything went smoothly due to the help and oversight of the staff, Sharada and Toufik. We were able to drop off our personal decorations at the venue on Friday, the day before the wedding. The rehearsal on Friday set the stage for the next day’s event. The grounds so lovely for pictures and the fabulous Lion’s Hall is dramatic yet charming. Sharada and Toufik worked a long day on Saturday making sure that every detail was taken care of smoothly. The food was great and the bar tenders did a great job, especially Adrian. Having the Salon to use as our hair and makeup spot helped us get ready for the day. The icing on the cake was an after party downstairs in The Cave where we gathered for late night snacks and more dancing. Thank you Red Lion Inn for making Kate and Jeff’s wedding all that we had hoped for and more!

Amazing New Years Eve Wedding
We had the best night on our New Years Eve wedding (12/31/18). Our wedding coordinator, Sharada, was very accommodating to all of our requests and leading up to the wedding was easy to work with. The venue is beautiful and doesn't need much to make your day special. The day of the wedding, our wedding party was staying at the Inn. There was a wedding the night before, but the staff had quickly cleaned the venue and rooms so we were able to get right in that morning. Everything was set up beautifully and all transitions from the ceremony, cocktail hour, to dinner went smoothly. The staff was extremely responsive, friendly, and accommodating and the service during cocktail and dinner was remarkable. After the reception, our guests went down to the Cave and had late night snacks, which was a big hit. Overall, we had a pleasant experience and would recommend this venue to other couples.

Red Lion Inn was the perfect venue for our dream winter wedding! We did our ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception in Lion's Hall. They truly have running weddings down to a science - the timing, flipping the dining area, working with vendors, etc. Working with Sharada leading up to the wedding was great. We asked her many questions over several months and she was responsive and thorough with her answers. A true professional. She's also extremely flexible with allowing you to drop in to check out the space as needed. Sharada hustled the day of, along with Toufik--they make an amazing team! This venue is pricey, but when you take into account their experience running weddings, their efficiency, the fact that they provide tables/chairs/linens/etc., perks like after party "cave" (so awesome!), and the delicious food, you're really getting a lot for your money. Not to mention how unbelievably gorgeous it is! Many people said it was the best and most beautiful wedding they'd been to. We're so happy we went with Red Lion Inn!

Older negative reviews had us a little nervous, but the location, gorgeous setting, ease of an all-in-one package, and the size of the venue were exactly what we wanted.
We booked the Red Lion Inn over a year and a half before our wedding (good dates go really fast!!). In that time, we worked with 4 different coordinators. This was frustrating and stressful, until we met Sharada. We had made an appointment to review details with a previous coordinator that hadn’t been passed on to her. With little notice, Sharada honored our appointment and our tasting. She is FANTASTIC. She is SO detailed, SO helpful, and SO nice.
Sharada has an incredible memory for details and requests and she was excellent at following up on everything. She made planning from abroad easy and she seemed as invested in the day going well as we were. She works hard – she was often at the venue to answer any questions via email or the phone and was there almost our entire wedding day, helping each detail run smoothly. We are so thankful to her and her hard work! She had many helpful suggestions for us, too.
Our day was perfect. The barn is even more beautiful than we expected having only seen it during daytime before. The wait staff were so helpful – my mom has a gluten allergy and they made sure that she knew her piece of cake was being set down so she could enjoy it. Our entrance down the staircase was so special, and it was great for larger family photos. Everyone was raving about the food and the Cave was a perfect afterparty spot. One speaker didn't work and the disco ball didn't turn on, but it was still a blast. At the end of the night, the shuttle bus driver between the Red Lion Inn & Cohasset Harbor went above and beyond to make sure that all of our guests were able to make it home – even those staying at hotels in Hull. If anyone was left behind by our shuttle, she was willing to help. We so appreciated that all staff at RLI were so committed to our day and all of our guests!

The Red Lion Inn was better than I had ever have imagined. Like many brides, I scoured websites looking for reviews and like many brides found some not wonderful reviews. A friend of a friend was married at RLI in 2010 so I reached out to hear the scope. She admitted that some of the challenges were true, but she'd do it all over again.
So, with a mixture of pure excitement and trepidation we booked the RLI. Yes, OK, response time may not be the fastest BUT I always had a response and the response was always very detailed.
There were a few hiccups leading up to the Big Day but Helena and Captain Steve were 100% professional and extremely accommodating. I knew they truly had my best interest at heart and were going the extra mile.
Our ceremony was in the garden; it is a spectacular setting. Due to some town laws no music or alcohol can be served outside (RLI's working on this) but guests said the "silent" ceremony was better because they could really focus on the purpose of the day.
The cocktail hour was in the Salon. I didn't get a chance to have any of the appetizers, but I have not heard anything but raves. They had champagne, cheese, and fruit waiting for the bridal party right after the ceremony. So fabulous!
The food is amazing. Every good thing you've read/heard about the food is true. The chef puts a lot of effort into his plates and it really shows. Bar staff are awesome and accommodated a lot of tomfoolery.
The Room captain, Steve, is awesome. He was there when I needed him but never intrusive. It's like he magically knew when I needed a new drink, safety pins for an unruly bustle, or to cool off under an air vent. Steve is a true asset to the RLI team.
Helena: French. Demanding. 100% awesome. She knows weddings and will settle for nothing less than perfection. While I didn't see her much during the reception, I know she was in wings making sure everything was magic. I'd work with her any day

The barn at the Red Lion Inn is a beautiful venue to have a wedding. So many people commented to us on its beauty, and the food was outstanding!
Elizabeth was our wedding planner and was professional and helpful in giving us ideas. The chef was fabulous and worked with us regarding ordering the specific fish that we preferred the week of the wedding as well as making a fabulous cheese sauce for us for the cordon bleu appetizers. I hope that they still offer that sauce as it was fabulous!
As with all weddings, we had a glitch regarding some Viking helmets I had purchased, including one that had sentimental value, being stolen the night before by wedding guests for a different wedding. Red Lion Inn staff drove hours the next day to replace the ones that I had purchased. I eventually received the one helmet from the bride a few months later. I do hope that things are locked up in the future and was disappointed that others had access to our things. I know that Elizabeth and Stacy did their best to correct the issue.
Overall, we had a beautiful wedding and celebration with family and friends!

We had our ceremony and reception at the Red Lion Inn in the barn. The setting was beautiful and everything went very smoothly. We got compliments on the food and the venue. We got married on a Saturday night and there is a food and drink minimum, so it is not cheap. We were able to include an after-party toward that minimum which helped. We worked with Elizabeth, who is a wedding pro. She handles a LOT of weddings there, so she can be hard to get a hold of. As the wedding got closer, though, she was more responsive and really wanted to be sure that she had every detail down. We stayed at the Inn along with our families which was convenient and a lot of fun. We were looking for a unique setting that didn't have a hotel/banquet hall feel and this really fit the bill!

The Red Lion Inn was the absolute PERFECT venue; our friends and family are still raving about how it was the best wedding they’ve ever been to. At first, my husband and I were reluctant to book it, having read some bad reviews. We didn’t want to take any risks on the big day; we were promised that this was years ago and that staffers had since left . When we went to visit, it was love at first sight. SO much character! At first glance, the inn is unassuming; faded shingles with red shuttered windows. Lovely, but the wow factor occurred when we entered the barn. It was the perfect combination of rustic yet elegant (think French countryside, with beautiful high ceilings and wooden beams detailed with chandeliers. My husband and I met in college in New Orleans but grew up in New England, so somehow this was the perfect combination of Boston coastal charm meets old world French chic. The nooks and crannies throughout the sprawling inn add to its allure). We held our after party at Zapp Brasserie (the cozy restaurant/bar near the entrance), and our cocktail hour at the salon du soleil, a lovely yellow hued room that is accessed by a covered wooden walkway overlooking the pool patio. Perfecto! Guests are still raving about the food both at the cocktail hour and dinner. The location allowed us to take our pictures on the beach which is a 5-minute drive from the Inn. Elena, our wedding coordinator, is intense about executing a flawless day! In fact, our ceremony was slated to take place outside on their back lawn, but the rain forced us to move inside. We thought we’d have to wait an hour for the indoor setup, but not 10 minutes later, Elena had her entire staff flipping our reception room. Guests had a chance to see our beautiful outdoor aisle setup, but they still all say that they loved the indoor backdrop just as much (another reason we chose the Red Lion was that their backup rain plan was beautiful!) All in all, I can’t say enough wonderful things!

The Red Lion Inn was an awesome venue for our wedding. The uniqueness of the barn setting was something that all of our guests kept complimenting us on all night. The food was great, and all our guests loved it. Our wedding coordinator, Elizabeth, was the best! She was always available for meetings and gave us great advise if we had trouble deciding on things. Overall, my husband and I are extremely pleased with everything that this wonderful day brought to us at the Red Lion Inn. Here are a few drawbacks to watch out for if you too fall in love with the barn as the setting for your wedding!
1. We got married on a very, very hot day (96 degrees). Of course, we were aware that this was a possibility as it was booked for July. For this reason, we decided to have our ceremony, cocktail hr. and reception all inside (the barn is beautiful so why not!). Well, I must warn you that although there is some air conditioning in the barn, it does not seem suitable to cool the high ceilings and large crowd (we only had 100 guests). Management blamed the opening doors for guests and dancing crowd, but regardless, they were unable to cool the place down---and for that reason I say perhaps this setting is better suited for a Fall or Winter Wedding. 2. Overall organization/helpfulness—Although the wedding coordinator and staff were very helpful and accommodating at times, there were times throughout the year of planning that I was unable to obtain a clear answer to my questions and therefore, I felt that a few logistical things were not up to my expectations---Just one example: The bride and bridal party should not be seen prior to the ceremony if they are told that they won’t be upon the bride’s request. The Red Lion Inn needs to do a better job of controlling (or should I say directing) the arriving crowd and getting the bridal party to a place where they won’t be seen until it is time for the processional. Another important thing to add to your to-do list if you are celebrating that the RLI —although they said theythey would give us that top layer of our cake, we were never given the cake (not even at the breakfast the next morning), so our parents had to drive an hour and a half back to get the cake the following day! I do have some other wonderful compliments regarding everything else, but I can't fit them here!

The bottom line is that we loved having both our ceremony and reception at the Red Lion. If we were to book everything again right now, we would still go back there. It was gorgeous beyond belief as a venue, and we had a fabulous day. It really is that beautiful and magical in every way.
However, the venue was not without problems. I agree that the email system is quite odd (everyone sharing the same email) - however, our planner made sure we had her cell for when we needed quick responses, which worked quite well. Most of our problems came from the room block. We had set our room block aside and told RL that any guest who called and referenced our wedding could book a room, no assigned rooms other than the parents. We found out much too late they had been turning away our guests because they didn't have their names on a list. We were mortified, to say the least. It took several phone calls for everyone to understand the situation and remedy it (which did happen, albeit a bit late for several guests).
Our other big issue was the during the ceremony. Our onsite coordinate sent the mothers in too early, and we completely missed a piece of music we had set aside specifically for the mothers, played live by a rather well-known cellist. She also tried to send our bridesmaids in early when one wasn't even finished singing a prelude. I'm sure no one knew other than those involved in the planning, but we were a bit heartbroken that the processional did not go as planned, particularly as I am a professional musician and brought in live performers for specific reasons. Our coordinator also wore extremely loud shoes which several guests commented detracted from the ceremony because they were so loud whenever she moved (they were told she was required to wear them, which should be remedied by mgmt if that is the case).

Beautiful venue! I love that you can stay at the inn after the wedding reception. We had an after party down in the cave which all our guest loved with some late night food.

The Red Lion is a stunning wedding location. I have had so many guests come to me and tell me how gorgeous they thought the setting was. It truly is a beautiful place to get married. There were some issues along the way, like most weddings. The payments were a little confusing, as the incorrect price was given to us on more than one occasion, so make sure you have your numbers in order. On the day of the wedding we arrived around 8am to find the entire place locked with no one in sight. The Inn has odd hours and is not staffed around the clock. But the salon del soleil where the girls got ready was beautiful and a perfect setting for hair and makeup. One issue we had during the reception was with our consumption bar. We put $2500 down for beer and wine only, since the mixed drinks are very expensive. Our open bar barely lasted through cocktail hour because they did not honor our wishes and served mixed drinks on our consumption bar tab as well as the beer and wine. They also do not accept cash which is odd. We were also informed by many of our guests after the wedding that, in fact, the bartenders did accept cash at a certain time during the evening. Some believed it was during our "open bar" and unbeknownst to the other staff at the Red Lion. The father of the groom actually went back up to the same bartender that he had just paid in cash, only to be told "Oh no we don't accept cash here." So that was a little odd, and could be some sort of scam going on, or could have just been some confusion on multiple parts.
Don't be nervous when your card box goes missing. The staff takes everything important and puts it in the bridal suite. The Cave is one of the best things about the Red Lion. So much fun and the bartender was great down there. The next morning when my guests tried to check out, the computers were down. They were charged incorrectly some of the time, and it was extremely confusing and unorganized. Rooms are gorgeous. Overall we had a blast!

To start, we had an incredible wedding day and our reception went smoothly and was absolutely beautiful. The Red Lion Inn does so many weddings, they know exactly what needs to happen the day of and are great at the logistics. Lion’s Hall is a beautiful venue and it was exactly what we were looking for. It is not the typical banquet hall/hotel ballroom, but includes all of the typical amenities while still having that rustic vibe. Our frustrations were with the planning. Communicating with the Red Lion Inn feels like communicating with back in 1990- they mailed (actually snail mailed!) several items to us including information for brunch the morning after the wedding, the dimensions of the barn, etc. When asked if they could simply email it, the response was that it wasn’t on the computer, which is sort of a ridiculous response at this day in age. The most frustrating thing for us was the constant reminder of all of the other couples they had to pay attention to/keep track of. Almost every email response included something about the 3-4 weddings they have each weekend and how they are focusing on other people with weddings that are taking place sooner. We received a response about one week before our wedding that still included sentiments implying that we were not important to them. This was extremely frustrating, especially given how expensive it is to have your wedding there. It is also extremely frustrating to be told you’re not important at the height of your planning stress. We are sharing this information not to discourage you from choosing the Red Lion Inn, because as we initially mentioned, the day was near perfect. We share this information to warn you of our annoyances, because wee feel if we had been warned, we might not have been so frustrated throughout the planning process.

This is a beautiful place to get married and our wedding was great. I have no regrets for picking this venue. Be prepared to find a lot out on your own and be willing to go with the flow. While everything ended famously, response time can be slow through email and calling. My wedding planner that came with the venue was changed once throughout the planning process and some planning was not carried over. Elizabeth the current wedding planner is very professional does her best to make sure that everything is set for your big day but there were a few thing that happened that were simply out of her control. I am very thankful for the help she did offer but some issues that we did have were not resolved very well.

My guests have been raving about the venue, from how beautiful the site looked to how delicious the food was (especially the vegetarian option). At times throughout my planning, there seemed to be a high turnover in the event management staff which lead to some confusion in communication. I discovered that calling the RL, versus emailing, was the way to go. At the end, I worked with Denice and she was absolutely fabulous! I did not have to worry about anything the day of the wedding, as she coordinated everything perfectly.
