User1831701 Sent on 09/26/2014Rachael and her husband were great! They took the time to discuss what we wanted and made it happen! They did our engagement photos and our wedding photos! Their prices were competitive but their personality is what won us over. Rachael is a sweetheart and her husband is highly entertaining! -

First, Rachael went out of her way to accommodate the location of our shoot on Ocracoke Island. Even more, she made us feel relaxed and at ease with the engagement session. I am looking forward to Rachael shooting our wedding. Her photography is stunning and I can't wait to see her capture our special day!

User1638172 Sent on 05/29/2014When I first met her I knew I wanted her to photograph my wedding. I loved her style, her personality. I just felt comfortable. well... my wedding was in October. she did my bridals also. Other than some sneak peeks I STILL have not received my photos (bridal or wedding)... Unless you are willing to wait... and wait... and wait for your pics, or a response from her, I would not suggest using her services. check "the knot" reviews also. wish I would have done more research before we hired her.

Dear Ashley,
Thank you for your feedback; I am very sorry that your expectations have not been met. As you know, my husband suffered an acute stroke on January 3, 2014 and I was his sole caregiver for 3 months while he recovered. During his recovery this year, my timetable for photo editing and timely responses to emails and phone calls were affected. Last year, you received timely correspondence during our many emails, meetings and phone calls. I take this change seriously and am working to improve upon it.
I was honored to photograph your wedding and to document the special moments. I enjoyed getting to know you, your husband, family and cute pups during our meetings, your wedding and the afternoon at the beach and Elizabethan Gardens for you bridal portraits.
I photographed your bridal session two weeks before your wedding, a tight timeframe during wedding season. All your unedited bridal photos were available online for viewing within a few days following the session. You chose some favorite images to display at your reception; I edited these images and hand delivered professional prints of them to you and your mom a few days before your wedding. I also sent you the digital files for these favorites.
As to receiving the rest of your bridal photos in a digital file format, I emailed you a reminder in November. Just as we did for your reception prints, in order to move forward with editing, a folder within your online gallery needed to be made by you with all your favorites and an email sent to me once this was completed. On June 3rd, you emailed me that your selections were complete.
Edited Wedding sneak peeks were sent two days after your wedding and a number of additional Thank You card options were sent three weeks later. I look forward to sharing your complete set of wedding photos with you. I apologize that the timetable for their completion was disrupted and assure you that I am working to rectify this.

User2415021 Sent on 11/07/2015Rachel was our photographer for our wedding on Oct 17, 2014. ETA for pictures was 13 weeks max. Here we are 13 months later and we've had our first child during the year since and from Rachel have received nothing but excuses & issues. My wife and I vacationed in the outer banks since and trying to contact Rachel gets us nowhere and even trying to track her down isn't possible because her address is a Po box. It's a sad state of affairs, when you entrust & pay "professional" photographer who's only communication with us over the past year has been vague explanations referencing issues & excuses. As I mentioned our daughter was born recently Sept 22nd 2015: and the photographer who took her announcement photos felt obliged "to apologize on behalf of the professional photographers out there." Last message from Rachel was a mass email to all the people she's taken money from and not delivered. Subject: up and running after severe computer issues
From health to technical...the excuses are endless. I'm of the mindset that we're not the only victims of her poor business practice, her work is good but good luck getting what you paid for within the agreed timeframe provided on contract. Stay away or end up in a similar situation.

Dear Jonathan and Heather,
Unfortunately, the challenges and hurdles that have delayed the delivery of your wedding photos, are all true. I truly wish they weren't because then you would be very happy clients instead of disappointed. I am extremely sorry this has created the long turn around time with your photos. This was not intentional.
I sent out the "mass" email on November 5th, so that I could ensure that my update was received as quickly as possible. In that email, I said to keep an eye out for a more personal email. I am doing everything in my power to complete everything as quickly as possible so that you and my other clients will have their photos for Christmas. I am contacting each client one by one. I planned and still plan on contacting you personally this coming Monday, the 9th. I do and have always planned on providing you with your photos and the items that were included in your package. I take the trust that you put in me to heart, and though the turn around time is not ideal, I will be honoring your photography package.
The birth of your daughter is a wonderful blessing and I wish your family much joy as you welcome her. I am glad that you had a really good experience with the photographer you used for the newborn photos of your daughter.

User2365791 Sent on 10/13/2015It's been months past the expected photo due date and I still don't have my wedding photos. Half the time she doesn't pick up her phone or respond to e-mails. When she does it's excuse after excuse. At this point it seems like our only option is to report her to the BBB. -
User2624674 Sent on 05/27/2016I thought really hard about writing this review, but it all boils down to the fact that I wouldn't recommend Rachael Hyde Photography to even the worst person in the world. Your wedding is all about the happiness you've found for yourself and your significant other. You want to sit back after your wedding and enjoy being married. I found this is very difficult with dealing with Rachael Hyde photography. First, she tells you the photos will be done in 12-16 weeks from the wedding date which ok that’s great! But, it doesn’t happen and after that she will stop talking to you for months when you question her on an ETA, and GOOD LUCK getting a hold of her. She has every excuse in the world computer crashes, your collection it to large, she’s got adrenal fatigue (which I looked it up over 80% of American have this). If you're mean to her or get upset with her you get nothing, so remember to always be overly nice so that she will actually talk to you (Even though you've given her the money. She will NOT give you the time of the day at this point). It took over a year to get our photos, and this caused much stress during my first year of marriage. While other brides were able to show off their photos of their big day; I had nothing to show how my big day went. After looking at all of the photos, I would say they are beautiful but slightly boring. I had told her I wanted fun photos, however I ended up with a bunch of beautiful JCPenny style photos. She didn't express her own photography style in any of my photos. They turned out to be mainly portraits. There was a lot of scenery where we got married that you of been beautiful to take pictures at, however we stayed in one central location and shot the same photo for each group. I believe I counted five photos that were 'fun' photos out of the entire collection. The reception photos is where everything went downhill. We received a ton of photos, but very few close ups of significant moments.
