The Phelps House is a beautiful venue for a holiday wedding. The home is elegant and decorated tastefully and in keeping with the time it was built. Tables, chairs, china, and silverware were all included with rental of the home. I would highly recommend it.

If you want a unique venue, this is the place. I had a great experience here. I had a very large wedding reception (500 people). We used the first floor inside, outside porch, and then set up a large tent outside. It worked really well. The bride and bridesmaids dressed on the second floor. We had a band outside, and inside we were able to have several tables and chairs for people to visit without the music. We had the wedding cake inside and the groom's cake outside, so that everyone could see us cut a cake.

The management was great. They provided all of the tables and chairs for the inside and porch area. This venue is also great for smaller events. It can be an intimate setting. My friend's wedding and reception was held here and it was beautiful as well. The Victorian era of the house is beautiful and wonderfully preserved. You won't be disappointed by having your event here!

This is a beautiful place to tie the knot. It is a rich, turn of the century piece of history that is unique in its intimate formality, and yet does not have the "hands off" sterile feel of a museum. We were able to prepare for the wedding and dress in period correct rooms upstairs, and then the bride came down the main stairs while the men came down a back staircase. We had a rather small wedding (60 or so) but there was plenty of room and it did not feel cramped. The grounds and front porch outside are beautiful. Carthage in the fall is amazing.
