  Amazing Film Photographer!

  My husband and I booked with Nicole back in February of 2020. Nicole is not only a photographer but also the owner of a stunning wedding venue, The Ivy Rose Barn, in the heart of Rocky Mount VA. She was so attentive to details with not only her photography but the venue as well (as seen in pictures). Her husband David was also kind and accommodating when showing the venue and assisting with day of coordination/photography. While Covid threw in a few curve balls, both for us and for the venue, our special day in May 2022 was well worth it. Our guests could not stop raving gorgeous every inch of the venue was and how beautiful her film photography is.

  The perfect partner

  Nicole was the perfect partner to capture our wedding celebrations! From our intimate family-only civil ceremony in the Outer Banks, to our larger, family and friends celebration in England, Nicole made us feel right at ease and blended with our family and friends right away - even joining us for some of the games and fun! During the ceremony and speeches, Nicole and David were practically 'invisible'; we were so surprised when we got the final photos as they had captured so many special candid moments when we weren't even aware! We are absolutely thrilled with the final photos...there so many we will treasure the rest of our lives.
  The format in which they were delivered to us also has made it really easy to view and to share with our family and friends. We loved the fact that Nicole shot on film (as well as digital); these have made for some special photos we wanted to print and hang.
  
  We cannot thank you both for everything you did to so beautifully capture the story of our international nuptials!

  Best Photographer Hands Down

  Where to start!?! I hired Nicole over a year ago and had plans to get Married In April, due to the Covid-19 virus my 250 guest wedding had to be postponed to a later date in the year! We were so thankful that Nicole was available, so accommodating and was so helpful during this crazy time in our lives. We had a private ceremony with just our parents and we wanted Nicole to capture this ceremony, parent shots and a few photos of us as Husband & Wife-Nicole REFUSED payment for our private ceremony! REFUSED! She wouldn’t even accept a tip!
  We are beyond grateful for Nicole’s generosity and her talents! She just delivered us our photos and they are so beautiful! She really made our little ceremony look like a grand affair! We love our photos and can’t wait to for our big wedding in the fall! We highly recommended Nicole! She is truly talented and the sweetest!

  Couples shoot

  Chris and I had our couples shoot a few weeks ago and not only was Nicole professional but she was also SO fun to work with! Our pictures turned out phenomenal, she told us some direction on how to pose but she let us have fun with it and it was comfortable! She’s affordable, fun, professional, and knows how to take the most breathtaking photographs. I highly recommend her to the point where she will definitely be my photographer for my wedding. Thanks again, Nicole!

  Aetherial Romantic Photos

  We absolutely loved working with Nicole. She truly is a master at what she does -- AND she loves what she does. My husband and I are normally not great at taking photos, but Nicole made the experience really organic. As a result, the photos turned out to be simply gorgeous. We highly recommend working with her!!

  Amazing Talent and Quality

  I have worked with Nicole a few times and she is hands down my favorite photographer. Her style is timeless and her product is top notch quality! I would recommend her to anyone needing wedding photos, engagement, maternity, etc. I cannot say enough great things about her!

  Exceptional Photographer

  Nicole is an absolute artist. I knew from the moment I saw her work that I had to contact her, and I am so glad that I did. My new husband and I are both very awkward in front of the camera (and with new people!) but Nicole was so patient and she walked us through a number of poses. We were relaxed and comfortable just a few minutes into our engagement session and we couldn’t wait to see her and David again for the wedding. My sister actually asked us how long we had been friends, because we were so comfortable with her on our wedding day. I feel like we got so much accomplished so quickly because she knew exactly how to direct everyone to get the perfect shot. I cannot say enough good things about Nicole. Her work is worth every penny, and I will be sending everyone I know her way. She and David are so much fun to be around and just genuinely great people, which was just the cherry on top for us.

  One of THE best fine art film wedding photographers in the industry!

  Nicole is hands down one of the most talented, hardworking, experienced, and dedicated film photographers in the wedding industry. Not only is she extremely professional and responsive, she has an exquisite eye for detail that every bride dreams of. I had been following Nicole on social media for several months before hiring her and just knew I had to have her as my wedding photographer. For the level of service and quality of photos she delivers, you would expect her to charge way more than she actually does. She truly cares about her work, really attempts to understand the bride/couples’ vision, and curates the most ethereal, timeless, quality wedding photo collection for her brides. We got to know Nicole and her husband, David, throughout our wedding planning and they are truly wonderful, talented people who go above and beyond for their clients. They arrived early on the day of my wedding and Nicole spent several hours painstakingly taking the most perfect detail shots while we were getting ready, even though this was well beyond what we were paying her for. I also had two ceremonies built into my wedding (one Indian and one Jewish) and Nicole shot countless images for both despite the fact that it was essentially double the work for her without charging me double the amount! I still get compliments to this day (almost a year after my wedding) about how beautiful my engagement and wedding photos are. I plan to use Nicole for any and all of my photography needs moving forward. There’s no one else I’d rather have capturing the most important moments of my life!

  Truly amazing photographer. My wife and I still get compliments on our photos 2 years after our wedding. Nicole was one of the highlights of our wedding experience.

I am a wedding planner, so as a bride it was exceptionally important and challenging to find a photographer who fit my aesthetic. We extensively searched for the perfect match, and Nicole undoubtedly rose above everyone else. She has a phenomenal eye, and is was able maintain a very whimsical tone in ALL of our images, which is pretty rare in wedding photography. This allows the photos to be timeless, and let the quality of the work speak for itself. Nicole is also extremely mellow, which is a huge plus because we hate being in front of a camera. We have incredible wedding photos to cherish the rest of our lives. On top of all that, we also received all of our images impossibly fast. Thank you so much Nicole, you are amazing <3

She is amazing to work with in-person, and she's honest about what looks good, what doesn't and what you can do to maximize your time on the big day with her. Not to mention, my wedding was October 21 and I already have my photos! She delivered them all in categories so you know exactly what you're looking at, and there are so many choices. If I could do it over again, I would 100% pick her as my wedding photographer. If your style in fine art and you want someone laid back to do the job, go with Nicole.

  Nicole did a wonderful job capturing our day! Our pictures were delivered quickly and all of them were beautiful! Our wedding day was a big rush because we kept having rain warnings and yet she still got a ton of beautiful pictures! She did a really good job capturing the details of our day as well. We worked hard to make our wedding unique and she really got all of our details beautifully. Fun personality too!

  Nicole is an INCREDIBLE photographer and an all around amazing person. She photographed my surprise proposal and the pictures were phenomenal. Her film work is out of the world! I am so beyond excited to have her be apart of my wedding this September!   We are overwhelmed with the quality of our wedding pictures. Nicole did an INCREDIBLE job capturing the essence of the day.   I went to the Roanoke Bridal show soon after we got married looking for a photographer. I stumbled upon this GORGEOUS booth full of some of the highest quality pictures I had seen and KNEW I wanted her to be our photographer! We chose a package that included engagement pictures, bridal portraits, and 10 hour coverage on our wedding day. So, we worked with Nicole 3 times. Each time, I was more amazed by the quality of photographs she produced. She shoots in film and digital. Film can be somewhat awkward to get used to but the quality is seriously incredible. Our photographs are so unique and I've had multiple people gasp over the romantic lighting in all of them. Aside from having the most incredible pictures that we will treasure forever, I seriously think she is the best bang for your buck in this area. I know 3k seems like a lot...but we got engagements, bridal, and wedding pictures for this and it was hard for me to find anyone whose quality was near this high for this price. Obviously, we are elated and so thankful we chose Nicole Colwell Photography.

Each time, I was more amazed by the quality of photographs she produced. She shoots in film and digital. Film can be somewhat awkward to get used to but the quality is seriously incredible. Our photographs are so unique and I've had multiple people gasp over the romantic lighting in all of them. Aside from having the most incredible pictures that we will treasure forever, I seriously think she is the best bang for your buck in this area. I know 3k seems like a lot...but we got engagements, bridal, and wedding pictures for this and it was hard for me to find anyone whose quality was near this high for this price. Obviously, we are elated and so thankful we chose Nicole Colwell Photography.

  I cannot say enough amazing things about Nicole and her photography! Nicole was a sweatheart from the start.. she was extremely informative about her work and so pleasant and kind.. throughout the months prior to our wedding day, she was easy to get ahold of, and very accommodating to my needs! I got married in the Bahamas and getting there (as it was a island only reachable by boat) was quite the task! She dealt with my crazy bridal mind and was all but too kind along the way! When it came to the day of, she and her husband (who acted as her assistant) were the dream team. The love that they share for each other was prevalent which made me know she knows how to capture true love and beauty. Each picture she took I felt like I was a princess and she helped guide me and my husband through the process (as both of us know nothing better but to smile and stand). The pictures and love age captured are breathtaking and true heirlooms to our family. She uses film and digital and just nailed it. Our wedding pictures will be keepsakes that we will forever cherish capturing all the love and beauty of our story. I cannot recommend her enough and we are truly blessed to have had her on our big day.. not to mention she is a really awesome person and a total joy to have around!
